Review Overview

The simply named Blush is yet another standout from NYX Cosmetics. The mica- and talc-based powder blush has a smooth, non-flaky texture and soft, sheer application that builds well for darker skin tones (or simply those who want more color).

As for the shades, there are some beautiful options that have a matte or soft shimmer finish. Some of the colors are very shiny, but those are easily avoided or embraced, depending on your preferences and the look you're going for.

This fragrance-free powder blush is recommended for all skin types.

Brand Overview

NYX Cosmetics At-A-Glance

Strengths: NYX provides complete ingredient lists on its website; inexpensive for such quality makeup that rivals department store brands (yes, even M.A.C.); superior blush, gloss, and eyeshadow; several excellent mascaras.

Weaknesses: Many products are available only from the company's website, which means you can't see or test the colors in person (and the company doesn't offer samples); disappointing foundation primers.

This small Los Angeles–based makeup line was founded in 1999 by a woman named Toni Ko. The company's Web site is vague about Ko's background, merely stating that she developed an interest in cosmetics as a teenager (you know, just like about 99.9% of teenage women) and wanted to create her own line of cosmetics. Ko's goal was to produce high-quality products at affordable prices, and that's the draw of NYX (pronounced "nicks") Cosmetics. We are pleased to report that, for the most part, Ko succeeded in her childhood dream.

It is important to note that this line offers a full selection of makeup products, from foundations to lip gloss. However, the only place to access everything NYX Cosmetics has to offer is their Web site. The Ulta chain is the largest distributor of NYX Cosmetics products in the United States, but they carry a smaller selection of NYX products. The good news is that most of the few NYX products Ulta stocks are impressive, especially the powder eyeshadows, which compete evenly with eyeshadows that cost a lot more.

NYX Cosmetics customer service number is (866) 699-1004 or you can visit www.nyxcosmetics.com.

Fantastic blush for a great price

This is some of the best blush I've ever used. It's very pigmented and lasts really well. The taupe is legendary as a contour shade for fair skin. It works as an eye shadow too! (Way better than NYX's matte shadows!) The compact is hard to open but I plan on getting a few more of these and depotting them to a palette. I have three shades so far and I really like all of them.

hard to open

I just purchased two NYX Blush compacts in Dusty Rose from CVS Pharmacy on the recommendation of Paula Begoun (Cosmetics Cop). I TRIED to open one and found it nearly impossible to open without damaging the product so will be returning both. Must be a good product but not if I can't even get to it. Compact needs to be redesigned for easier access.

Finally a reasonable priced blush that lasts...

This blush is as close as I can get to a dupe for Tarte's Amazoian clay 12 hour blush w/out the 26.00 price tag. I am fair skinned & I have the Pinched shade which is a dark pink. Usually powder blush disappears on my face w/in an hour & this stayed on four.

Surprisingly nice

These blushes were so cheap I thought that I could toss them (or gift them) if I didn't like them. Well, that didn't happen! These are as good as, if not better, than other dept. store blushes I've used. Nice color selction - Peach and Mauve, both matte, and Pinched, with a slight bit of shine, work good on my light skin. Good pigmentation and adherence, and small enough to carry in a purse. Packaging is kind of flimsy and no mirror but minor considerations. Definitely worth a try.
