Essential Renewal Lotion 10% AHA is another worthy option in Alpha Skin Care's lineup of leave-on exfoliants. Although it doesn't do much beyond exfoliating, it does that quite well, and the size of the container makes it quite the beauty bargain, too.
This lotion comes in a squeeze bottle and has a lightweight texture that absorbs readily into skin. Unlike some of Alpha Skin Care's other AHA products, this has a slightly tacky residue, but that goes away the longer the product is on skin (we found that it dissipates in about 10 minutes).
As we mentioned above, this doesn't come with a host of antioxidants or other anti-aging ingredients, but Alpha Skin Care doesn't make anti-aging claims—its main function is as an exfoliant. Because the formula's pH is 3.91, it will help slough away dead skin cells to reveal smoother, younger looking skin.
Although not the most innovative product available, this is a good, basic, reliable AHA option that omits fragrance and other irritants, and its generous size makes it a beauty bargain!
Note: This product was formerly available as 10% AHA Enhanced Lotion when the brand was known as Alpha Hydrox.

Essential Renewal Lotion is formulated with 10% Glycolic AHA which works by gently releasing dead skin cells allowing new, fresh, healthier skin to come to the surface.

Known primarily for their well-formulated AHA products, Alpha Skin Care (formerly Alpha Hydrox) recently got an impressive image update. Along with a new name, they've also revamped their products. Although the improvements were more visual and packaging-related than formulary-driven, the fact remains that Alpha Skin Care has a formidable range of effective AHA products, all with definitively researched glycolic acid. Kudos to the company for continuing to be direct about the AHA content (and pH) of their exfoliants, something most other lines selling AHA products prefer to keep a mystery.
Should the folks behind this brand choose to go back to the drawing board once again, they would do well to reconsider their current jar packaging if they intend to keep adding antioxidants and other beneficial ingredients to their efficacious but still predominantly basic products. Until then, you can rely on Alpha Skin Care for supplying AHA products that really work, and a few other surprises too, all affordably priced and readily available.
