The claims for Becca's Aqua Luminous Perfecting Concealer make a big deal about this product's 32% water content, which is said to create a lightweight feel. Water-based makeup products are nothing new (water is the first ingredient in most liquid concealers), but we're happy to report that this concealer is so good that Becca didn't need any attention-getting claims.

This concealer comes in pretty standard liquid concealer packaging: A slim plastic tube with a sponge-tip wand applicator. The sponge is a bit flatter and wider than traditional applicators, which makes this a bit easier to apply.

The texture is that of a slightly creamy fluid, and it's a dream to apply and blend, meshing easily with skin. It provides medium to full coverage of dark circles and imperfections, and sets to a soft satin finish that's attractive, not cakey.

True to claims, this does blur imperfections, making skin appear smoother, and it wears well throughout a standard workday without creasing or fading. We found it performed well both on its own and with powder applied over it. Another great aspect: It comes in a natural-looking range of colors intended for fair to deep skin tones.

If you're in the market for a liquid concealer, this one certainly deserves consideration!

Pros:
  • Provides medium, natural-looking coverage of dark circles and imperfections.
  • Wears well without fading or creasing.
  • Comes in a good range of shades for fair to deep skin tones.
  • Fragrance free.
Cons:
  • None.

Brand Overview

Becca At-A-Glance

Australian import Becca is a complete line of color cosmetics from makeup artist Rebecca Morrice Williams. As the story goes, Rebecca, like so many women, was having difficulty finding the perfect foundation. It seems her professional experience making up women of varying skin tones and preferences shared one truth: all women wanted perfect skin. This set Williams on her path to creating what would become the Becca line.

While there are a number of excellent foundations here, what seems to have catapulted the brand onto the map is their numerous highlighter products. From liquids to powders, there are an incredible range of options in their luminizer categories, and many are superb.

Surveying the rest of this line revealed that Williams not only did her homework for foundation shades, the eyeshadows are amazingly silky, and many of their products for lips and cheeks are exemplary. Lastly, almost all of the makeup brushes from Becca are aces, and the options plentiful, especially for eye designs.

Strengths: Excellent concealers, foundations, highlighters and eyeshadows; good lip gloss; several outstanding brushes.

Weaknesses: Beats us, this is a strong collection of products.

Becca is available at Sephora, Ulta and via their Web site.
