If you're in need of bold color, Becca's Mineral Blush might just be what you're looking for. Its rich pigment and radiant finish enlivens skin with a healthy glow. Even better, the shades are beautiful and cater to a wide range of skin tones.

Housed in a mirrored compact, Mineral Blush has a soft-to-the-touch texture that picks up easily with the tap of a brush. (Speaking of brushes, a fluffy one made diffusing and softening its pigment easier.) A little goes a long way with this blush, so start with a light hand and build the color slowly.

Mineral Blush offers a mix of bold and soft colors, including hues of pink, peach, and berry. (Certain retailers only carry three of the shades, but more can be found on the Becca website.) Some have a satin-matte finish and others are more shimmery, but either way, the luminosity is tasteful (no glittery finish here).

As for the much-touted antioxidants, the packaging routinely exposes these sensitive ingredients to light and air, rendering them ineffective. In a powder-based product, there's also a potential issue with those ingredients penetrating skin effectively.

That aside, Becca's Mineral Blush still earns our praise as a beautiful, fragrance-free blush for a healthy glow.

Pros:
  • Soft texture.
  • Skin-enlivening radiant finish.
  • Attractive bold and soft shades suit a range of skin tones.
  • Fragrance free.
Cons:
  • Some shades require a careful hand to avoid over application.

Brand Overview

Becca At-A-Glance

Australian import Becca is a complete line of color cosmetics from makeup artist Rebecca Morrice Williams. As the story goes, Rebecca, like so many women, was having difficulty finding the perfect foundation. It seems her professional experience making up women of varying skin tones and preferences shared one truth: all women wanted perfect skin. This set Williams on her path to creating what would become the Becca line.

While there are a number of excellent foundations here, what seems to have catapulted the brand onto the map is their numerous highlighter products. From liquids to powders, there are an incredible range of options in their luminizer categories, and many are superb.

Surveying the rest of this line revealed that Williams not only did her homework for foundation shades, the eyeshadows are amazingly silky, and many of their products for lips and cheeks are exemplary. Lastly, almost all of the makeup brushes from Becca are aces, and the options plentiful, especially for eye designs.

Strengths: Excellent concealers, foundations, highlighters and eyeshadows; good lip gloss; several outstanding brushes.

Weaknesses: Beats us, this is a strong collection of products.

Becca is available at Sephora, Ulta and via their Web site.
