Review Overview

This twist-up sunscreen stick contains gentle mineral actives of titanium dioxide and zinc oxide for broad-spectrum sun protection. The amount of these mineral actives and the thickness of the stick formula can feel heavy and go on slightly white, but it blends fairly well and is fragrance-free.

This is absolutely recommended for use on babies and children and it's good for adults, too. Because of the heaviness of the formula, your best bet is to apply this on smaller areas prone to burning, such as the bridge of the nose, hands, tops of feet, and ears. If you don't mind the thicker texture, this is also suitable for use around the eyes. All of the non-fragrant plant oils have antioxidant benefits, making this an all-around winner.

Baby Bee SPF 30 Sunscreen Stick is best for normal to dry or sensitive skin not prone to breakouts.

  • Provides gentle, mineral-based sun protection.
  • Convenient stick formula is great for protecting sunburn-prone areas.
  • Fragrance-free and ideal for use on babies and kids.
  • All of the plant oils provide antioxidant benefits.
  • The amount of mineral actives can feel heavy and leave a slight white cast.

Baby your babe’s skin with this natural sunscreen found in the convenience of a stick application. Fragrance-free and non-greasy, our SPF 30 formula uses effective Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide to provide protection from the sun's harmful rays.

Brand Overview

Strengths: Inexpensive.

Weaknesses: Many products have potent fragranced formulas; several formulas packaged in jars, which compromises their ingredients.

With humble beginnings in the town of Bangor, Maine, Burt's Bees is a brand focused on natural-themed, earth-friendly skincare. Unfortunately, in many cases, this also translates to less than beneficial formulas as not all of the natural ingredients used are helpful for skin.

Many of the plant extracts and oils used in these products, including orange oil, cinnamon oil, clove oil, lemon oil, eucalyptus oil, pine tar, alcohol, lime oil, and balsam peru, are problematic for skin and present a significant risk of irritation or a sensitizing reaction. Both the intriguing philosophy and inexpensive products are attractive, but it takes more than that to establish reliable products that are good for skin. It’s also important to consider the potential benefit (or potential harm) of the ingredients used.

There are some formulas to consider among the brand’s offerings, but some to be wary of—see our individual reviews on Burt’s Bees products for more details.

White cast blends away

According to Beautypedia's review, I thought the white cast would be really bad. When I rub it into my skin, the white cast is barely noticeable. It leaves a very faint cast on my lips as well, and I have very pigmented lips. By the way, my complexion is light, not fair or porcelain. This is great for touch ups on the hands after washing, lips, ears, around the eyes, bridge of nose, tops of shoulders and feet, etc.
