Burt's Bees Facial Cleansing Oil has an all-natural formula that combines non-fragrant plant oils with plant-derived ingredients to create a very good cleansing option for normal to dry skin—and this removes any kind of makeup quickly and without a residue!
The only drawback is the amount of fragrance, because fragrance, whether natural or synthetic, puts skin at risk of irritation and just isn't good for use around the eyes. Still, as long as you rinse thoroughly, it shouldn't be a problem.
Speaking of rinsing, despite this cleanser's fluid-yet-oily texture, it rinses surprisingly well! Skin is left feeling soft and comforted, not greasy or slick. Unlike some other cleansing oils, when mixed with water, Burt's Bees Facial Cleansing Oil doesn't turn into a milky emulsion. Instead, it feels a bit slicker and is relatively easy to move around the face and eye area as you cleanse.
Last, although we do recommend this cleanser, it's a bit on the pricey side given competing options at the drugstore. Had Burt's Bees skipped the fragrance, this would have easily earned a top recommendation from us. Still, if a natural cleansing oil is tops on your list, this option from Burt's Bees is well worth checking out!
Usage note: A half pump of this cleanser should be plenty for most people when washing their face/removing makeup. More than that can get messy, as it's difficult to keep the oil from running right off your hands before you can apply it to your face!
- Removes any type of makeup with minimal effort.
- Doesn't leave an oily residue.
- Skin feels clean and soft, not dry or tight.
- Concentrated formula: a half pump is plenty for the whole face!
- A bit on the pricey side given the comparable options from other brands at the drugstore.
- The fragrant ingredients make this iffy for use around the eyes.
