Review Overview

Those with dry, itchy, eczema-prone skin, take note: RestoraDerm Eczema Calming Body Wash is a winner! This creamy, ultra-moisturizing body wash is exceptionally gentle and a pleasure to use. Thanks to a great formula that will leave skin softer and a lack of ingredients that can increase inflammation, this easily earns our highest, four-star rating.

The fragrance-free formula treats dry skin to smoothing emollients, including non-fragrant plant oils, while cleansing skin and leaving it soft and smooth. The amount of shea butter makes this slightly tricky to rinse, but you can always use it with a washcloth if desired. Cetaphil included niacinamide and vitamin E, but for the most part these good-for-skin ingredients will be rinsed down the drain.

No matter, though: RestoraDerm Eczema Calming Body Wash remains a top body wash choice for those struggling with dry skin. It is not recommended for acne-prone skin, as the formula is too rich and could potentially make body breakouts worse.

Pros:
  • Fragrance-free.
  • Contains emollients like shea butter to help soften and soothe dry, parched skin.
  • Contains some antioxidant ingredients.
Cons:
  • None.

Brand Overview

Cetaphil At-A-Glance

This familiar, widely distributed skin-care collection is manufactured by Galderma, the same company that markets the prescription products Differin and MetroGel.  Given the dermatology heritage of Galderma, it's surprising the Cetaphil line hasn't advanced beyond the basics. Yes, most of what's available is a safe bet for those with sensitive skin!

If you're in search of simplicity, this is a good line to consider. We should note that many of the formulas omit more complex anti-aging ingredients, but they can always be used alongside a serum or treatment of your choosing.

Strengths: Inexpensive; mostly fragrance-free products; affordable and widely available; offers complete ingredient lists on its website; the sunscreens offer sufficient UVA protection.

Weaknesses:A few formulas could be updated with more complex ingredients, but forgoing that there is a lot to like here.

Why does it leave a stain on white washcloths?

Have been using this product for 3 months now. It lathers and cleans well. Smell is initially mildly offensive but I've gotten used to it. I may have seen a slight improvement in my keratosis pilaris, but it is also no longer winter. Most disconcerting is that all of my white washcloths now have gray-brown stains where I have applied the body wash. What's up with that? Each washcloth is used for only 1 shower before laundering. No, it isn't dirt!

Too drying

I tried this body wash after receiving a sample. I found that is leaves my skin drier than Dove Sensitive Skin and very itchy. It didn't work well for me.

Amazing Body Wash

I have been on the hunt for a moisturizing but non greasy body wash for a long time. This product is moisturizing, feels silky but does not leave a film on my skin. Best of all I have not had a reaction to it. Many products have caused rashes & itching. It is also reasonably priced. I am very sensitive to fragrance & did not find the product to have an intolerable smell. I would definitely recommend this product for those with dry body skin.

Nice feel, bad fragrance

This is a creamy white, silky smooth body wash that leathers gently. Leaves skin feeling beautifully soft. The only thing I don't like about it is that it has a fairly obnoxious chemical smell. It's a great choice if one can tolerate the smell as it really does leave sensitive skin feeling moisturized.
