AquaSmooth Makeup SPF 15 is an ultralight, silicone-to-powder compact makeup that smoothes easily onto the skin and dries to a soft, powdery matte finish. As with similar foundations, quick, deft blending is key: these formulas dry fast, and are not easy to move once they do. The sunscreen is all titanium dioxide, so even sensitive skin should be able to wear this, though the formula and finish are best for normal to slightly oily skin -- dry skin will only look more noticeable with this type of foundation. Although the formula contains waxes, the amount is small enough that it’s unlikely to be a problem for blemish-prone skin. The shades offer light to medium coverage. The ones to avoid due to overtones of pink or peach are Natural Ivory, Medium Light, Warm Beige, Natural Beige, Creamy Beige, and Toasted Almond. The remaining shades feature some excellent options for light and dark skin tones.

Note: This foundation’s rating is due to its overall performance rather than its SPF rating. Due to concerns about people not applying sunscreen liberally enough to get the amount of SPF protection stated on the label, it is often recommended to look for SPFs with ratings higher than 15. If you plan to use foundation as your sole source of facial sun protection, consider using one rated SPF 20 or greater. If the foundation with sunscreen you choose is rated less than an SPF 20, we strongly advise applying it over a daytime moisturizer rated SPF 15 or greater and following it with a pressed powder rated SPF 15 or greater. That way, you’re ensuring sufficient broad-spectrum protection which is essential for having and maintaining healthy, younger-looking skin at any age.

Designed with AquaCurrent Science, this vitamin-enriched formula directs moisture to your skin's surface to improve its condition over time, while giving smooth, even coverage that makes imperfections virtually vanish before your eyes. This solid makeup transforms into a liquid during application, then dries to an even, powder-light finish.

Active: Titanium Dioxide (9%), Other: Cyclopentasiloxane, Water, Butylene Glycol, Silica, Niacinamide, Tridecyl Isononanoate, Sorbitan Isostearate, Talc, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla Wax), Ozokerite, Tocopheryl Acetate, Panthenol, Tocopherol, Cyclomethicone, PEG/PPG-18/18 Dimethicone, Dimethicone, Methicone, Cyclotetrasiloxane, Propylparaben, Methylparaben, Stearic Acid, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Acetate, Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides, Aluminum Hydroxide

Since 1961, CoverGirl has been slowly building a portfolio of cosmetics that today is about as all-encompassing as a makeup line can be. Originating from the same "medicated" ingredients found in Noxzema Skin Cream (which was never medicated in the least, but seriously irritating for skin), the debut products are still available, albeit with slight modifications. The good news is that for the past several years CoverGirl has consistently updated their line with some very impressive products, especially their foundations, concealers, and vastly improved pressed powders. They also offer some excellent eye and lip pencils, lipsticks and lip gloss, and one of the all-time best long-wearing lip paints, Outlast.

What's puzzling is that although many of CoverGirl's latest products are progressive, they tend to hang on to the lackluster-to-poor options, including abysmal powder blush and eyeshadows and their long-standing, very irritating Clean Makeup. These items may be part of CoverGirl's humble beginnings, but you certainly don't see parent company Proctor & Gamble adding eucalyptus oil and menthol to their Olay products or to products of any of the other cosmetics companies they own. If those ingredients were so important, why not use them everywhere? Needless to say, the great products outnumber the disappointments, and the prices make it easy for those on a budget to be beautiful and enjoy some state-of-the-art products, provided they shop wisely.

CoverGirl's Web site is extremely easy to navigate, and presents a wealth of product information, along with practical (if somewhat cutesy) tips and tricks for successful makeup application and for finding the shades that work best for you. CoverGirl's consumer relations department is consistently helpful if you have any questions or concerns. For example, if one of your favorite items was discontinued, you might want to know what replaced it, and they will let you know. Such service and customer concern is yet another powerful reason to believe CoverGirl really has its (class) act together.

    Great foundation
    • I really like this product! It did make my skin dry and look bad on dry spots but I started using a moisturiser underneath it and it works so much better and is so smooth and easy! I like a natural look so I only use a little and it works great and protects my skin from getting burnt and/or drying out !

    Good for fair skin
    • I am lazy in the morning & I prefer to put on makeup & forget it. I like that this compact includes the sponge & the ease of application is perfectly portable. However with this type of foundation if you have any dry spots it will highlight them. The product lasts me thru 12 hr days without touch ups. Thanks to Paula I don’t have an acne challenge anymore & I can wear this type of foundation. This has little to no scent. I wear this one in the summer & Ulta Fabolus Face in winter.

    Great cream-to-powder style foundation
    • I agree with the review. This is a great cream-to-powder foundation, probably the best I've ever used. I use it solely for covering the red in my cheeks, as most foundations don't do the job. I wouldn't use this for all over my skin, though, because it does have the tendency to look thick, and somewhat chalky. That's the nature of cream-to-powder foundations though. In short, this makes a great replacement for cover-up when you need to cover more than just little marks or blemishes.
