Perhaps the most widely available formula in Dove’s body wash lineup, their Sensitive Skin version isn’t a top pick for sensitive skin—at least if you’re looking to avoid fragrance (which is always a good idea, because fragrance isn’t skin care, especially not for sensitive skin). Dove misleads by labeling this “unscented” though unscented doesn’t mean “fragrance-free.” Tricky, yes, but it’s the truth.

Despite the inclusion of fragrance, the amount is low and, overall, this is a very good, gentle formula that’s suitable for normal to dry or oily skin not prone to breakouts. It cleanses effectively without leaving skin feeling dry or tight, and leaves only a hint of residue from the plant oils it contains.

Nourish your skin with our mildest cleanser ever. Dove Sensitive Skin Nourishing Body Wash has NutriumMoisture,™ a breakthrough formula of 100% natural moisturizers that can absorb completely to nourish deep down. Hypoallergenic, unscented and dermatologist-recommended.

Water, Glycerin, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Sodium Hydroxypropyl Starch Phosphate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Lauric Acid, Sodium Cocoyl Glycinate, Sodium Chloride, Stearic Acid, Sodium Lauroyl Isethionate, DMDM Hydantoin, Citric Acid, Fragrance, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Tallow Acid, Palmitic Acid, Sodium Isethionate, BHT, Tetrasodium EDTA, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Methylisothiazolinone, Etidronic Acid, Titanium Dioxide

From its beginnings in the 1940s with its still-available original Beauty Bar, Dove has expanded and the curiously curtailed its selection of skin-care products to the point where their facial care offerings are back to nothing more than bar cleansers.

Although their Beauty Bars have their share of problems (such as containing drying ingredients and not rinsing well), they're better than traditional bar soap. However, if you can get past your propensity for bar cleansers, neighboring lines at the drugstore offer better, gentler, water soluble cleansers (the kind Dove has offered in the past).

Where Dove holds sway at the drugstore is with its vast selection of body washes. Although the formulas often differ only by fragrance, for the most part they are excellent, affordable options, especially for normal to dry skin. The body washes in their men's line aren't quite as elegant as those in the main line, and guys should know their skin will do just fine with Dove's regular body washes.

Note: All Dove products contain fragrance unless otherwise noted.

    misleading product
    • I think that the new formula is a bit too smelly for me. And it claims to be gentle on skin but the old formula was hypoallergenic. I don't know why Dove changed formulas. It was fine the way it was before. I wish Dove would change it back to the old formula. Maybe they will but I am not holding my breath.

    • I stray from time to time from Paula's products, just to see what's out there. So I decided to try the sensitive bodywash. Big mistake, the smell was so strong, i had to open my windows. This bodywash is misleading because it say's unscented. Well let me tell you I have now learned you must look for fragrance-free. Cosmetic chemists at dove should know strong fragrance is not skin care!

    Nice, Creamy Body Wash
    • This is my favorite mainstream sensitive skin body wash. It feels very luxurious, creamy, and pampering. I generally prefer this cream-type body wash to a gel. It has an almost non-existent fragrance and lathers nicely. It was my go-to body wash for years before I discovered the Eucerin Calming Body Wash Oil. Nice product.
