Review Overview

There is a lot to love about this foundation including the in-part titanium dioxide sunscreen. Armani has created a rich yet not heavy-feeling cream foundation with a superb blend of ingredients to replenish dry skin while leaving a soft glow. In fact, it is one of the creamiest yet lightweight foundations for dry to very dry skin you’re likely to find. Its emollient texture feels decadently silky and blends very well, though it takes time to set to a soft satin finish. Dry skin is left with a radiant glow, while coverage stays in the medium range.

Note:Although this foundation provides broad-spectrum sun protection on its own, you must apply it liberally and evenly to get the stated level of protection. A sheer or spot application will not provide the amount of sun protection the label indicates. If you’re not likely to apply this foundation liberally, we recommend applying it over a moisturizer with sunscreen rated SPF 15 or greater and setting your foundation with a pressed powder rated SPF 15 or greater.

Brand Overview

Giorgio Armani At-A-Glance

Strengths: Outstanding foundations; superb powder textures; a brilliant shimmer fluid; perfect bronzers; some excellent lip color options; a neutral palette makes this line a must-see.

Weaknesses: Expensive; the skincare is underwhelming, especially given the cost (though the claims sound good!); some of the SPF-rated products do not supply adequate broad spectrum protection; most of the mascaras aren't as impressive as they should be.

Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani is credited with giving tailored elegance, power, and sex appeal to standbys like men's suits, and turning Hollywood's A-list stars into fashion icons as they parade through countless award ceremonies adorned in his simple yet elegant creations. According to Armani, "Elegance doesn't mean being noticed, it means being remembered." That statement has been parlayed into the designer's makeup collection, where the products are replete with the textures, colors, and flawless application that assure your natural beauty will be memorable rather than masked.

Because Armani has always been passionate about textures, it's no surprise that his makeup (which is the main reason to check out this line) presents an impressive collection that features some of the smoothest, lightest textures you're likely to find. From foundations to powders, eyeshadows, and mascaras—even pencils—the makeup selection includes some truly stellar products. According to the brochure for Armani's makeup, the supreme textures and silky application are the result of Micro-fil technology. This supposedly allows for a precise blending and layering of select ingredients, offering a heightened sense of color that fits like a second skin.

Regardless of how that technology is labeled, almost all of the makeup contains standard silicone polymers along with ordinary ingredients like nylon-12. Of course, many cosmetics companies have their equivalent version of Micro-fil, but Armani seems to have taken it one step further, though not always toward desired results. For example, the eyeshadows, while very smooth and easy to blend, aren't much for intensity, a point the counter personnel made clear.

There are a few other instances where the pricey products aren't all they're made out to be, but this is the world of cosmetics, and although the fantasy is for every product to be perfect, that's hardly ever the reality. Still, there are many compelling reasons to explore this collection. Although not fully distributed across the United States, it has a presence in most major cities and the products may be purchased on Armani's Web site. Makeup is where it's at for Giorgio Armani's cosmetics line. The skin care was a blatant, exceedingly overpriced afterthought and is not worth considering.

Being discontinued

My favorite foundation and I have used this for many years. Unfortunately after contacting Armani website because I could not locate my color to reorder, I was informed that it was being discontinued. So for anyone who loves this foundation and can find their color available, order all you can. I will just have to hope that Armani will introduce another cream foundation similar to this one in the future.

Disappointed

I am 49 with dry skin. I was excited about this foundation and the promise of a soft satin finish. After wearing it paired with the Armani Light Master Primer, my skin looked so shiny that I had to reapply powder numerous times throughout the day. The tan color matched my skin tone, but my face had a weird, unnatural appearance. I tried to convince myself that it was working for me by pairing it with different primers and powders. but I ended up sending it back.

Fantastic

Yes it is expensive but it really delivers. I am the sort of person who constantly has to check that foundation is still on my face 2 hours after being applied, but also that it has not changed color on my skin. This stuff stays true. And when I dust my shiny nose with the NARS illumination white powder (that transfers no color) its great all day. Will repurchase.

Not natural

This foundation sadly didn't work for me. I have dry skin with eczema and it just sat on top of my skin looking very unnatural. Be aware that the colour oxidises during wear time, but the SPF 20 means that you look very white on pictures at night. The product is also highly scented. I have no wrinkles but brought this to cover up a bit of redness and uneven skin tone. Maybe it could work if you don't have very dry skin and you like high coverage foundation in the daytime.

Compliments received the first time that I wore this foundation

I am 55 almost 56. I wore this foundation to a family breakfast the next morning after I purchased the product. I have never had anyone say that my skin looked pretty. This morning they said that my skin looked wonderful and that I looked beautiful. I am not joking. I didn't say anything because it was kind of embarassing. I have to say that I wanted to purchase Giorgio Armani since I heard that the Downton Abbey actresses wore it since that is the only product that they could really wear.
