This lip gloss has a long name that also includes the term "CC," which stands for "Color Correcting." The "CC" is the result of marketing hype related to the craze over BB, CC, and DD creams for skin, but it seems that IT Cosmetics thinks lip glosses can also provide color correction, which they do, in a sense, but it's not a direct correlation, it's just covering the lips with a different color, something that almost all lipsticks and lip glosses do.

Tongue-twister name aside, this gloss is a great product—one we're happy to rate among the best. It comes in a standard lip gloss tube with a sponge-tip wand applicator that's slightly angled for easier application.

It glides across the lips like a dream, with an incredibly smooth cream-gloss texture. This has an attractive soft-shine finish and comes in a limited, but well-edited, range of shades intended to mimic natural lip colors; IT Cosmetics says these shades are intended to be "your lips but better." The staying power is about two to three hours if you're not eating, which is standard for a lip gloss like this.

Where this product truly stands out is in its lip-conditioning properties. The formula is chockfull of beneficial emollients and antioxidants and feels very comfortable the entire time you're wearing it. Lips are left feeling moisturized, even after the gloss itself has faded away. This does have a faint vanilla scent (from actual vanillin, which we're happy to say is not a skin irritant), but it dissipates pretty quickly.

Although this is certainly not the least expensive option out there when it comes to a beneficial gloss, most will find the investment worth it!

Pros:
  • Applies easily, with a smooth cream-gloss texture.
  • Attractive soft-shine finish and natural-looking shades.
  • Feels comfortable during its wear time and leaves the lips moisturized once it fades.
  • Contains a good blend of emollients and antioxidants to condition the lips.
  • Has a nice vanilla scent from vanillin, which is not a skin irritant.
Cons:
  • Pricey.

Brand Overview

Strengths: Excellent color products, standout foundation and concealer options, impressive highlighters.

Weaknesses: Can be on the pricey side; has a few makeup products with exaggerated anti-aging claims.

IT Cosmetics (the IT stands for “Innovative Technology”) is the creation of Jamie Kern Lima, a former Miss USA pageant contestant and TV news anchor. Lima founded IT Cosmetics in 2008, selling her products in boutique stores and on QVC, then expanding into Canada in 2009. Since then, the line has gotten a lot of exposure with featured reports and stories on network television, including prominent mentions on the ABC reality show Dancing With the Stars.

The labels on most IT Cosmetics products reveal a variety of age-defying claims centered around ingredients like antioxidants, peptides, vitamins, and collagen. Those are indeed great additions to any cosmetic product, but unfortunately, the combination of compact or jar packaging among the formulas that include those helpful ingredients isn’t a good thing.

Air exposure compromises ingredients like antioxidants and peptides, rendering them useless. While that doesn’t affect the quality of the makeup, it is worth noting if you were hoping for an anti-aging edge from IT Cosmetics’ antioxidant-boosted blush or powders.

Of course, IT Cosmetics does have products that are absolutely worth checking out. The line boasts an excellent range of color products, highlighters, foundations and many more worth consideration. As with any line that has a mix of standouts and caveats, shopping using our reviews to guide you is a great way to ensure you’ll at least get your money’s worth, and your skin will be the better for it.
