There's a lot to like about this talc-based pressed-powder bronzer, including its four natural-looking colors that are suitable for fair to medium-tan skin tones. The powder has a smooth, dry texture that applies evenly, lending a soft bronze glow to skin that doesn't veer toward orange, muddy looking, or red.

The Medium shade is the most versatile due to its balance of brownish tan and red, but this shade does have noticeable sparkles—something a real tan doesn't! If you don't mind the sparkles, it's recommended, or you can consider the less shiny Medium Deep shade. Those with light skin tones will appreciate—no surprise—the Light shade.

This missed our top rating because it contains fragrance ingredients known to be irritating. The amount is low, but why add any amount of fragrance to a bronzer?

Bronze Goddess Powder Bronzer is suitable for all skin types except sensitive.

Pros:
  • Easy-to-apply, smooth texture ensures even results.
  • Beautiful, natural-looking colors to bronze an array of skin tones.
  • Good color intensity and builds well for deeper color that doesn't look "dirty."
Cons:
  • Contains a small amount of fragrance ingredients known to be irritating.

Brand Overview

Estee Lauder At-A-Glance

The history of Estee Lauder goes back to 1946, when the woman who created the brand (and for whom it is named) began selling creams and lotions made by her chemist uncle. From its humble beginnings, Estee Lauder has grown to become a multibillion-dollar company whose products are sold all over the world and advertised in just about every fashion and women's lifestyle magazine available.

The biggest compliment we can pay to the venerable Estee Lauder line is that their moisturizers and serums can largely be described as state-of-the-art. Though fragrance is often intrusive, but when it comes to formulary excellence culminating in products that give skin what it needs to function optimally, they are tough to beat.

When it comes to makeup, by and large the brand also exceeds expectations. Though there are some under-performing products (you can read more about them in our individual reviews), Lauder has a number of excellent options, most notably its lip colors.
