Review Overview

True Match Super-Blendable Blush is a collection of silky powder blushes whose sheer colors and seamless application do indeed make them super-blendable. The palette of soft colors is beautiful and is divided into warm, cool, and neutral tones. You might find their blush groupings confusing (some of the cool shades go on more golden or peach than befits that description), but if you shop by the color itself rather than by its classification you should be satisfied. Each blush also indicates a coordinating shade of L’Oreal True Match foundation and powder, but blush color and foundation or powder color are unrelated so you can ignore that matching as well. Aside from those details, this is one of the better powder blushes at the drugstore. (Note: Each shade has a subtle shine, but it gives a soft glow to the cheeks, not distracting sparkles.)

Brand Overview

L'Oreal Paris At-A-Glance

Strengths: Budget-friendly prices; good makeup removers; wide assortment of self-tanning options; one of the best, most comprehensive makeup collections at the drugstore, with superb options in almost every category; the mascaras are a tough act to follow.

Weaknesses: Jar packaging hinders some of the skincare formulas; many of their skincare formulas contain problematic amounts of fragrance and/or other irritants; exaggerated anti-aging claims.

L'Oreal's extensive makeup collection retains its stature as one of the better selections at the drugstore, though they have stiff competition from Revlon and, in some cases, sister company Maybelline New York. In recent years L'Oreal has made significant strides with foundation shades, powder textures, concealers, and, of course, superlative mascaras that rarely fail to impress. Their lipsticks are excellent and you will find many L'Oreal makeup products have a Lancome counterpart, and that the differences are minor—if there are any at all.

L'Oreal's displays in many drugstores reflect better-organized products and shade categories (though testers are still scarce). Given the number of lipsticks they sell, it only makes sense to put them in color families so consumers have a better shopping experience. Their True Match products are also sensibly laid out, but the rest of the foundations aren't as organized, likely due to the smaller selection of shades. Speaking of foundations, L'Oreal has made further strides by offering more that provide sufficient UVA protection. Revlon still has the edge for consistently launching impressive foundations with sunscreen, but at least L'Oreal is (finally) catching up.

The bottom line is that every category of L'Oreal’s makeup has some winning (and in some cases, benchmark-setting) products.

Unfortunately, despite the brands’ enormous presence in the beauty industry, L'Oreal's moisturizers and treatment products are a nearly all unremarkable and repetitive. When it comes to moisturizers or serums, just about anything from Dove, Olay, Neutrogena, or Aveeno is preferred. L'Oreal does well with most of their cleansers, along with scrubs and self-tanning products, but given the widespread availability and financial resources of this line, they could be doing so much more. The good news is their makeup has made major strides and now ranks as the best overall color collection at the drugstore—imagine the results if their skin care followed suit.

So natural looking!

I love that this blush gives me a sheer flush of natural color and no sparkles. I use the color "baby blossom" and it is perfect for my fair, pale skin and looks so natural on me. I will buy this again!

Silky and Natural Looking!

Even though I am quite fair and yellow undertoned, I chose C 5-6 Rosy Outlook, so ignore the numbering and just pick a shade you like! This color is a nice balance of peach and pink and has a sublte shimmer. This blush is silky, has good lasting power, and never looks clownish. The compact could be less bulky, but the brush underneath is actually usable, so points for that. Good drugstore option!

Nice Quality, Good Brush, Pretty Color

I first bought another blush on the Best list. It did not work out at all and I was very disappointed. L'Oreal always makes a good product, so I bought this and have not been disappointed.

Disappointed in New Colors

I bought this blush a while back and have used up my favorite color, C 5-6 Rosy Outlook. Guess what? They no longer offer the blush in that color and no new color comes close. Loved the blush for it's smooth application and intensity and the fact that it wasn't powdery. So disappointed in the newer colors.

just lovely!

I've been using Tender Rose and Baby Blossom and am loving them both. The 2 things that most appeal to me are the natural looking colors (Tender Rose may be one of my all time favorite blushes) and the amount of pigmentation (not so sheer that you have to apply multiple swipes but also not so pigmented that you have to be very cautious in applying). They have a small amount of sheen but it is so minor that they really appear to be matte which is my preference.

True as stated

This blush is sheer, subtle and natural looking. I'm glad the "best" section suggested this easy to find, reasonably priced blush. I brought my old out dated blush with me from another brand and just matched it to the color that was closest. This is a lovely blush.
