Review Overview

Aside from the omission of fragrance, this body lotion is identical to Lubriderm's regular Daily Moisture Lotion. As such, the same review applies: This body lotion is as basic and antiquated as it gets. Lubriderm has been offering this mundane formula for years; it's the skin-care equivalent of using a typewriter when you could be using an iPad. The main ingredients can make dry skin look and feel better, but not to a significant extent.

What's are missing are skin-repairing ingredients, antioxidants, and ingredients that help skin make healthier cells. All of these types of ingredients are necessary for dry skin to become healthier, but Lubriderm doesn't include them, at least not to a helpful extent. Also, the lack of sunscreen means this is not suitable for daytime use on exposed skin. Please see our list of Best Body-Care Products for superior body lotions.

Pros:
  • Fragrance-free.
Cons:
  • Very basic, dated formula fails to provide dry skin with ingredients that are proven to help it significantly improve.
  • Lacks antioxidants, skin-repairing ingredients, and cell-communicating ingredients that help skin look and act younger.
  • Lack of sunscreen makes the "daily" portion of the name a problem if you are applying it for daytime on parts of your body that will be exposed to daylight.

Brand Overview

Lubriderm At-A-Glance

Strengths: Inexpensive; some fragrance-free body lotions; Lubriderm provides complete product ingredient lists on its Web site.

Weaknesses: Mostly outdated formulas that lack a range of skin-repairing ingredients; the body lotion with SPF 15 does not provide sufficient UVA protection; not much distinction between formulas, especially in the Daily Moisture range.

Among body lotion brands, Lubriderm is recognizable at drugstores and grocery stores around the world. Unfortunately, most of their formulas are about as exciting as watching grass grow! Instead of providing dry, itchy skin with a range of state-of-the-art ingredients proven to offer lasting benefits, Lubriderm stops short at the basics, with formulas that echo back to the 1960s.

What Lubriderm leaves out are the ingredients that would supply your skin with a healthy dose of antioxidants, skin-repairing ingredients, or cell-communicating ingredients. All these types of ingredients can actually "repair" skin, not just put a Band-Aid® on the problem of dry skin.

Lubriderm products are not bad, but it's like using a typewriter instead of a computer. Simply put, science has advanced skin care far beyond what Lubriderm formulas provide.

Lubriderm's price point is attractive, but saving money isn't always the end game. Besides, there are other inexpensive brands whose impressive body moisturizer formulas mean you don’t have to settle for less. At the drugstore, check out the options from CeraVe, Olay, and St. Ives or online from Paula's Choice for stellar inexpensive examples. Actually, the previously mentioned are some of the best examples around because even the expensive body products often omit the advanced ingredients.

Dry skin? Don't bother

Only positive is it soaks in immediately, which is also a negative since it does absolutely nothing moisturize dry skin. I might as well have spread vegetable oil and water together on my skin. I cannot believe people still buy this.,
