By far this is Lubriderm's most intriguing product. It is a concentrated specialty skin-care product with a thick, ointment-like texture. It also contains a high amount of glycerin along with other ingredients that help repair the skin's surface and prevent moisture loss. These positives make it all the more disappointing that the preservative methylisothiazolinone was added. Methylisothiazolinone isn’t recommended for use in leave-on products due to its sensitizing potential. If an ointment-like product is needed for severely dry areas, consider Aquaphor or a more elegant, less greasy product such as Paula's Choice Beautiful Body Butter.
- Rich, balm-like texture with skin-repairing glycerin and cholesterol.
- Contains the sensitizing preservative methylisothiazolinone which is generally not recommended for use in leave-on products.
Clinically shown to protect and moisturize all day, so skin can heal itself like healthy skin does naturally. It helps soothe and relieve dry, chapped or cracked skin by providing long-lasting skin protection.

Among body lotion brands, Lubriderm is recognizable at drugstores and grocery stores around the world. Unfortunately, most of their formulas are about as exciting as watching grass grow! Instead of providing dry, itchy skin with a range of state-of-the-art ingredients proven to offer lasting benefits, Lubriderm stops short at the basics, with formulas that echo back to the 1960s.
What Lubriderm leaves out are the ingredients that would supply your skin with a healthy dose of antioxidants, skin-repairing ingredients, or cell-communicating ingredients. All these types of ingredients can actually "repair" skin, not just put a Band-Aid® on the problem of dry skin.
Lubriderm products are not bad, but it's like using a typewriter instead of a computer. Simply put, science has advanced skin care far beyond what Lubriderm formulas provide.
Lubriderm's price point is attractive, but saving money isn't always the end game. Besides, there are other inexpensive brands whose impressive body moisturizer formulas mean you don’t have to settle for less. At the drugstore, check out the options from CeraVe, Olay, and St. Ives or online from Paula's Choice for stellar inexpensive examples. Actually, the previously mentioned are some of the best examples around because even the expensive body products often omit the advanced ingredients.
