Review Overview

Strobe Cream contains mineral pigments to optically “brighten” skin, which basically means particles of shine to make skin look radiant rather than dull. Looking beyond the light show reveals a well-formulated moisturizer brimming with the essential elements normal to dry skin needs to look and feel its best. Almost all of the antioxidants included have considerable research documenting their topical benefit for skin. This does contain fragrance, which is the only drawback, but the amount is low.

Claims

The ultimate quick fix for the skin. Super-powered with potent botanicals; de-snoozes, de-stresses, moistens, freshens and boosts the look of dull, flat or tired-looking skin with a fully loaded vitamin zap and a mega dose of green tea. Brightens and clarifies with iridescent particles and antioxidants. Enhances the effects of light on all skin and in all lighting conditions from sunlight to spotlight.

M.A.C. Cosmetics At-A-Glance

What more can one say for this long-standing makeup line whose products have spoken eloquently for themselves for years? In many ways, M.A.C. Cosmetics is a pivotal line not only for makeup artists but also for any in-the-know cosmetics consumer. Although M.A.C. has several singularly outstanding products, they generally excel by virtue of the range of choices offered. The color selection for everything from lipsticks to foundations is exceptional. Most of the makeup brushes are beautiful, full, and soft, as well as properly sized to fit the contours of the face and eyes.

When it comes to skincare you may be tempted to dismiss the small assortment M.A.C. offers and skip right to their makeup with its well-earned positive reputation. But doing so would mean missing a handful of beautifully formulated products that are worth trying. By no means is M.A.C.'s skin-care line one-stop shopping (at least not if you have blemishes, skin discolorations, or require more than a couple options per category), but you'll find more than just the color products impressive here, and the prices aren't unreasonable either!

M.A.C.'s salespeople are often trained makeup artists, too. This is especially true in the freestanding M.A.C. boutiques, where the staff tends to be true makeup artists.

Note: M.A.C. sets itself apart from other beauty brands by staying ahead of the curve by launching a seemingly-constant rotation of impressive limited edition products, usually with fashion-forward themes. Though it's impossible to review every limited edition product, many of M.A.C.'s are as impressive as those in their permanent collection.

Strengths: Some impressive moisturizers; praiseworthy foundations in a mostly gorgeous range of shades; good concealers; several great powder-based products including blush, bronzer, and eyeshadow in various finishes; dizzying array of lipstick shades in mostly sumptuous formulas; several very good mascaras (regular and waterproof); top-notch makeup brushes; many of the Prep + Prime products work as claimed.

Weaknesses:A few products with high levels of potential skin irritants.

Why didn't I buy this years ago?!

Although the product is a bit pricey for what it is, it gave me such luminous glowing skin when using it with MAC Face & Body foundation. I have extremely pale skin that can make me look washed out at times and as soon as I put it on I looked healthy and had a J-Lo glow about me. I found it worked beautifully when I put it on my cupid's bow and left my lips looking full. I also put it on my cheeks to give a glow-y, pearlescent finish. Would recommend to anyone.

Not rich enough by itself.

I read the reviews and this sounded perfect, however I found this was not enough to hydrate my dry skin in winter. I like the way it makes my skin brighter however I will need to supplement it with some kind of oil.

Not good for dry skin

Just recently developed dry skin. Read all the good reviews about this product, and decided to give it a try, however, this moisturizer is not hydrating enough for me and I do not have overly dry skin. Would not repurchase again.

Beautypedia Team Response

We don't know; ask M.A.C.! However, there's nothing wrong with dimethicone in skin care. It doesn't clog pores or suffocate skin.

Maybe, Maybe Not

I really like this product’s feel and brightening effect. It’s too MAC decided to put fragrance. I am tolerating the smell but my eyes burn especially when used with other products so I only use it as a lightweight mask. Bonus: the 1 oz tube is only $10.

Why did I quit?

It's not cheap. But it's worth it! I wish I knew why I discontinue use of this product. I think it actually helped with my acne- prone skin. I think it's the most moisturizing product for my year round parched skin. Love, love, love! It would be great if it had retinol,or peptides in addition.

Cheat your way to glowing skin

This a magnificent "cheat" to achieve dewy glowing skin. It's easy to apply and impossible to "stuff up". In a sea of makeup products and endless choices, for me, strobe cream is the king- long live the king!

Love it!

I love this product along with most MAC products. This one feels great on the skin, doesn't break me out and gives my skin a nice glow. I use it under MAC SPF lotion and they work great together.
