This is an excellent mascara to consider if you want appreciable length and slight thickness with beautifully defined lashes. The rubber-bristled brush is shaped so that each and every lash gets smooth, even coverage and clumping is minimal. The tiny amount of clumping is easily smoothed with a lash brush or with subsequent coats of the mascara.

In terms of wear, this resists smudging and flaking yet comes off easily with a water-soluble cleanser.

You can ignore Maybelline's boast about the vitamin C having some special benefit for your lashes; it doesn't. What may be a problem for some are the fragrant plant extracts this mascara contains. They may cause undue sensitivity, which is why this mascara did not earn our top rating, despite its other impressive traits.

Maybelline's latest urban image is a positive step, as many of their latest launches have been innovative without resorting to "been-there, done-that" gimmicks. Smart shoppers will note the similarities of a few of Maybelline’s formulas to products from high-end brands that are also owned by parent company L’Oreal. That just goes to show conscientious shopping can really save you money—without sacrificing quality or performance.
