A cosmetic company that develops an SPF 4 product is either ignorant or foolish; either way, the formulators should know better when formulating products for skin care. You're better off not including sunscreen in your lip balm than bothering to formulate one with a measly SPF value of 4 and misleading people to think they are protecting their lips from sun damage. This does include avobenzone for UVA protection, but SPF 15 is the minimum number you should be looking for. This is otherwise a basic, soft-textured lip balm that works to keep lips smooth. The SPF rating is why it isn't rated higher.

Strengths: Budget-friendly; good makeup removers; a gentle scrub; some worthwhile lip balms.

Nivea is a globally known brand owned by Beiersdorf, the same company behind department-store brand La Prairie and drugstore mainstay Eucerin. Among those three brands, Nivea's product selection is the weakest (which isn't saying much, because none of these lines have much of anything to offer skin). For Nivea, uninspired formulas abound, presenting limited options unless you have normal to dry skin, and even those have exceptionally inelegant formulas. The enduring popularity of this line has more to do with advertising and perhaps tradition (it has been around a long time) than with what any researcher would consider state-of-the-art.
