This is a standard wax-based lip balm that also contains an in-part titanium dioxide sunscreen. As such, it's an excellent (and affordable) daytime option to keep lips smooth and protected from environmental damage. With SPF 30, you're getting more than a kiss of protection, and that's good!
Protects lips from UVA/UVB sun exposure with an SPF 30 formula. Prevents moisture loss and the drying effects of the sun. Contains protective vitamin E, one of the most effective antioxidants that support your skin's own protection system. Helps prevent skin damage and premature aging. Contains natural ingredients: shea butter and jojoba oil.
Active: Octocrylene, Octinoxate, Oxybenzone, Titanium Dioxide, Other: Microcrystalline Wax, Octyldodecanol, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Cetyl Palmitate, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Myristyl Myristate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Bis Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, C20-40 Alkyl Stearate, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Beeswax, Trimethoxycaprylylsilane, Fragrance, Yellow 5 Lake
Strengths: Budget-friendly; good makeup removers; a gentle scrub; some worthwhile lip balms.
Weaknesses: Several boring formulas; no products to treat breakouts or lighten skin discolorations; problematic toners; disappointing self-tanners; the anti-cellulite products are a joke.
Nivea is a globally known brand owned by Beiersdorf, the same company behind department-store brand La Prairie and drugstore mainstay Eucerin. Among those three brands, Nivea's product selection is the weakest (which isn't saying much, because none of these lines have much of anything to offer skin). For Nivea, uninspired formulas abound, presenting limited options unless you have normal to dry skin, and even those have exceptionally inelegant formulas. The enduring popularity of this line has more to do with advertising and perhaps tradition (it has been around a long time) than with what any researcher would consider state-of-the-art.
In mid-2010 Nivea re-launched most of their Visage (facial care) products on the web site drugstore.com. These products present a few well formulated, inexpensive options that are worth your attention. For more information about Nivea, owned by Beiersdorf, call (800) 227-4703 or visit www.nivea.com.

it leaves a white cast on my lips so I would put with a lipstick on top because I hate the look of white lips
This product leaves an appalling white residue on my lips, and the consistency is too waxy. The only reason I haven't discarded it is for summertime use at the pool or beach; I wouldn't use it anywhere else because it makes me look ill.
This product might be well-priced, reasonably emollient and have a good amount of sun protection, but it left white residue on my lips that of course made me look like a clown. I wiped it off and returned it the next day.
