This mattifying gel claims to be a revolutionary product (revolutionary is almost as overused as anti-wrinkle in the cosmetics industry) that offers patients control over their facial shine. While the term “revolutionary” is a bit of a stretch, this is, in fact, a great mattifying product for those who have trouble controlling shine on their face. We tried this product both over and under makeup and were surprised how well it controlled shine for hours without the need for blotting papers or pressed-powder application. Now that’s impressive! Regrettably, there’s a catch. The one drawback of OC Eight is that it will leave a slight white cast on your skin, even when worn under foundation. We suspect the white cast is from the acrylate-based powder ingredient it contains, which forms a flexible film on the skin that absorbs oil and plays a major role in controlling oil breakthrough so well. Due to the white residue issue, we recommend this product only for those with the oiliest of skin, or save it for special occasions when you have time to adapt your makeup routine to offset the white cast, a feat which, with patience and experimentation, is possible. OC Eight is fragrance-free.
OC Eight works continuously for up to 8 hours absorbing excess oil. The results? Even-toned, true matte skin for that just-applied look throughout the day. OC Eight contains ACRYSORB micro-particles that are specially designed with copolymer technology and work to permanently trap up to 6X their own volume in oil.
