Review Overview

Clear Regular Strength Anti-Redness Exfoliating Solution with 2% Salicylic Acid is a water-light liquid with 2% salicylic acid that exfoliates skin's surface as well as inside the pore lining. The result is fewer blackheads, white bumps, and acne breakouts, as well as smaller pores!

Those benefits would be enough reason to give this a try, but the benefits keep coming. Not only do the salicylic acid and soothing agents reduce redness and inflammation, but also this liquid exfoliant provides a measurable improvement in skin tone and clarity, while feeling surprisingly light and refreshing.

We could go on and on, but the bottom line is that if you're experiencing mild to moderate acne, blackheads, or white bumps, this is absolutely worth trying.

  • Unclogs pores, helps prevent blemishes, and diminishes blackheads.
  • Water-light consistency suitable for all skin types prone to breakouts.
  • Formulated to calm redness and inflammation.
  • Improves skin's tone and texture.
  • None.
Light-as-water texture leaves skin soothed and clarified. Unclogs pores to clear acne while reducing redness and irritation. Targeted exfoliation for a remarkable reduction in blackheads and acne. Ongoing use guarantees significantly clearer, smoother, even-toned skin. Makes the inflammation and redness from acne a distant memory.

Paula's Choice Skincare At-A-Glance

Paula's Choice Skincare was established in 1995 when best-selling beauty author and consumer advocate Paula Begoun (known as The Cosmetics Cop) decided to develop her own products. Like most of us, she was fed up with products that overpromised results, cost a lot of money, and failed to deliver—or made matters worse!

As a natural evolution of Paula's personal mission to help consumers find the best products for their skin, the line has grown into an extensive range of skincare and makeup products that are formulated to meet the needs of almost every skin type and skin concern imaginable. From acne to wrinkles, oily skin, rosacea, large pores, eczema, redness, dry skin, and on and on, Paula's Choice offers a solution.

Paula's Choice Skincare stands apart from other cosmetics brands. The formulas contain only ingredients that have substantiated, published research showing they are beneficial and effective—so you get visible results. Stable packaging is another feature of the brand, using innovative, opaque, and air-tight or air-restrictive components that keep antioxidants and other light- and air-sensitive ingredients from breaking down. The line is also 100% fragrance-free, which is best for all skin types, especially for those with sensitive skin or rosacea.

Disclosure: Paula Begoun is the creator of Beautypedia and founder of Paula's Choice Skincare products. Reviewing thousands of skincare and makeup products over the past 30 years, both on this site and in her best-selling books, Paula's mission has always been to help consumers find the best products possible for their skin. The Beautypedia Team proudly and unequivocally maintains this commitment. In addition, The Beautypedia Team reviews all products using the same rating standards and criteria, whether it is a Paula's Choice product or another brand.

Why are all Paula's Choice Skincare products rated highly? The Paula's Choice Skincare Team would not launch a product unless it was worthy of a high rating from The Beautypedia Team. Paula and The Beautypedia Team were researching and reviewing products long before Paula's Choice Skincare ever existed and consumers were constantly requesting a skincare brand that met all of Beautypedia's criteria. As a result, The Paula's Choice Skincare Team was created and uses the same research and criteria to formulate Paula's Choice products as The Beautypedia Team uses to review products.

Strengths: All products are fragrance-free; uniquely formulated AHA and BHA products; effective skin-lightening options; toners that go beyond the norm; all sunscreens provide broad spectrum protection; proven anti-acne products; antioxidant-rich serums and moisturizers; anti-aging products that work as claimed.

Weaknesses: Does not offer a complete collection of makeup; makeup shade range isn’t as extensive for darker skin tones; limited concealer options.

It's amazing!

This is an amazing product! It isn't drying and applies really nicely leaving no weird sticky residue or anything. My pores are minimized drastically and I have less acne. I'm not sure about the anti-redness aspect; my skin is less red, but maybe that is only because I stopped using Clean and Clear's alcohol-based astringent.

Changed my life!

I have been using this BHA for about two months now and I absolutely love it. It does everything it claims to do. I have experienced no dryness, irritation or increased redness. It has definitely improved my skin's texture. It does not prevent all my breakouts and I still get the occasional blemish, but the red mark is no where near as pigmented as before. This is so gentle, yet I still feel a significant difference every day. This stuff is like liquid gold to me now. I cannot live without it!

I've been so impressed with Paula's Choice reviews so I thought the skin care line must be exceptional, so I got this toner. Turns out, I was right! This toner is a phenomenal way to get your BHA's in! It's light and goes on right after washing, so it penetrates well and I can use a moisturizer on top. It's a little more expensive than I'd like- 4 oz might seem like a lot, but be careful. You need quite a bit to cover your face. I don't think this'll last as long as I hoped, but I'll repurchase!

Works great for me

I am almost 50 with acne prone skin since age 15. Ugh. I have sensitive skin, that breaks out from ingredients in all kinds of products, stress, not washing my face before bed, etc. I used Pro-Activ for years, it worked well, and then stopped working for me. I am so happy to find a system that works for me again, and that doesn't dry out my skin. I originally purchased the extra strength starter kit but it was overkill so I ordered the regular strength full size kit. I am very happy!

Clears pores

Keep in mind that you just need a swipe on clean skin and don't saturate you skin with this stuff and you're good to go. Definitely tames blackheads.
