This is an excellent moisturizer for dry, sensitive skin anywhere on the face. It contains a good mix of non-fragrant plant oils rich in fatty acids, emollients for moisture retention, and some good antioxidants. The gentleness of this formula is great for use around the eyes, but your entire face deserves such gentle care--it shouldn't be reserved for skin around the eyes. Although more antioxidants and some cell-communicating ingredients would've made this even better, this deserves our top rating due to its value for sensitive skin. Note that this eye cream is tricky to wear under makeup, as its oil-rich formula can cause concealer and eyeliner to smudge and fade. You may want to reserve this for nighttime use or apply very sparingly in the morning.
A rich, soothing emollient cream specially formulated for the sensitive and delicate skin around the eyes. If used daily, this cream will provide real improvement to the softness and suppleness of your skin. Formulated for firming and tightening fine lines and wrinkles.

Strengths: Uses many natural ingredients that don't pose a risk to skin
Weaknesses: Use of some volatile fragrant ingredients that can lead to allergic or sensitized reactions; must research products before you buy to ensure you will help skin rather than hurt it.
The doctor-designed, California-based ShiKai product range is extensive and sold in many health food stores and natural markets. Just like many products vying for your attention and dollars, they're big theme is natural ingredients. To that end, you'll see the same claims many other brands use, including "all natural", "botanicals" and a penchant for natural fragrances that the company maintains are less likely to cause an allergic reaction, but research certainly doesn't bear that out. Many natural ingredients contain fragranc chemicals contain a litany of volatile components that can cause a wide range of allergic or sensitized reactions, ranging from discolorations upon exposure to sunlight to irritant contact dermatitis (Source: www.naturaldatabase.com). There are hundreds of excellent natural ingredients that don't pose these risks, and we are pleased that ShiKai uses many of these in their products. But as with all natural-oriented lines, this isn't a brand to shop without knowing exactly what you're buying and whether or not it will do your skin more harm than good. I also got milia from this and their face moisturizer actually caused my skin to get red and had a brief slight burning sensation. Bizarre since I love their body lotion and can use it on my face with no issues. I have been using the ShiKai Borage Therapy Dry skin lotion-Original Unscented for years, it is my favorite body lotion- so I am very familiar with the brand. I will soon be purchasing a couple items from the natural line (Andalou) based on good PC reviews and I hope I have better luck.
Based on the coveted "Best" rating and the growing belief that budget brands are capable of producing as positive of results as the pricey stuff, I began to faithfully use this cream. My reward? Milia. And loads of it. I have at least 6 kernels of milia on each eye--both on the lid adea and under eye. I assumed I was over-applying the product until multiple makeup boards/blogs reported the same concern. Girls, this shouldn't be a "Best"! Sure, it hydrates. But the consequence is hardly worth it!
