Tom Ford's Skin Illuminator delivers a subtle, ethereal glow via its liquid formula. It's much less pigmented than what you might assume from looking at the bottle, but as long as you go into it knowing that it's all about the luminous finish rather than color, you might just fall in love.
"Fire Lust", the sole shade offered at the time of this review, offers a translucent, pearlescent peachy sheen with a hint of golden shimmer. This isn't a blush—the color sheers out so much that you can hardly see it no matter your skin tone—but it delivers a dewy radiance that emulates the reflection of a summer sunset.
Just to reiterate, the color doesn't really show through (especially on darker skin tones)—it's all about the reflective glow, which makes this quite the versatile glow-getter!
Skin Illuminator's lightweight, thin consistency is easy to blend whether you wear it alone, over foundation, or mixed in with your moisturizer or foundation. The luminous finish stays consistent through a standard workday, though those with oily skin may notice it fades a little sooner.
Skin Illuminator's fragrance-free formula earns our seal of approval, but due to how understated the overall effect is, we're holding back from assigning our top rating. We suspect many will be disappointed by the subtlety of this illuminator, especially at this price. On the other hand, if sheer and subtle is what you're going for, then by all means, this product is a beautiful product to do it.

Tom Ford is one of the world's hottest fashion designers. Coming to prominence in the mid-1990s, he became Creative Director at Gucci's fashion house, creating his own designer line in 2006 and five years later, followed in the footsteps of other high-fashion houses by launching a line of color cosmetics.
Housed in sleek black packaging with "Tom Ford" stamped in prominent gold-embossed lettering, the makeup certainly looks luxurious, and the pricing is definitely in the haute couture range. There are some great performers among Ford's small but well-edited makeup line, and we’re happy to say most of the products have minimal or no fragrance. There are a few exceptions which are noted in our individual reviews.
