Designed to fill in crevices on the lips and ensure long wear for lipstick, this lightweight, silky lip primer is something you might want to consider. The slightly creamy texture glides on and quickly morphs to a smooth, semi-matte finish. To some extent, this serves as a mild soft spackle for lines on and around the mouth. The powdery finish helps keep lipstick in place, but isn’t enough of a barrier to keep gloss from traveling into lines.

The most compelling reason to consider this is for its slight filling effect. No, it doesn’t make lips look bigger, but it does improve lipstick application and appearance without being greasy or slick. If lipstick bleeding into lines around the mouth is a constant struggle, this primer will help, but not as much as the Paula's Choice Anti-Feather Lipliner.

Too Faced is the brainchild of Jerrod Blandino, who got his start in the cosmetics industry as a department store makeup artist in the '90s. According to brand lore, Blandino's clients sought him out for his lighthearted, playful approach to beauty, which led him to create his own line. Note: In November 2016, cosmetics giant Estee Lauder bought Too Faced for $1.45 billion. Despite the fact that Estee Lauder sells products in China, where animal testing is in some cases required by law, Too Faced's founders say they maintain their commitment to no animal testing (and there are no plans so far to sell Too Faced products in China).
