Review Overview
This is a good, lightweight moisturizer with an in-part zinc oxide sunscreen. Despite the moisturizing claims, it isn't all that hydrating. Those with dry skin will likely find this does not quite cut it; however, those with normal to slightly dry or slightly oily skin are bound to love this lotion's silky texture and smooth finish. The fragrance-free formula contains mostly standard ingredients, but they did include a tiny amount of vitamin-based antioxidants. All told, this is worth considering and the price makes it almost irresistible!

Brand Overview

Trader Joe's At-A-Glance

Strengths: Inexpensive; sunscreens provide sufficient UVA protection; good cleanser and shave cream.

Weaknesses: Limited options; body-care formulas contain irritating fragrant oils; Trader Joe's is better for groceries than skin care.

California-based specialty grocer chain Trader Joe's isn't the first place you may think of when shopping for skin care, and rightly so: the bulk of this store's inventory is, not surprisingly, foods and beverages. However, they've recently ventured into sun care and offer a couple of worthwhile, inexpensive sunscreens as well as a remarkable facial cleanser. The sunscreens from TJ's we recommend aren't knock-your-socks-off spectacular, but are quite the beauty bargain. If you have a Trader Joe's in your neighborhood, some of the sunscreens are definitely worth a look, especially if you have a family to cover from head to toe during summer months when more of us are outdoors for long periods of time. Great!

I use this as a daily sunscreen on my body and it's perfect for that. Doesn't make you look greasy or smell like you're going to the pool, and it's really cheap. It feels kind of thick to put on my face so I haven't tried it there yet for fear of breaking out, but from the neck down at least it's the sunscreen I've been looking for.

lightweight, smooth

This is a thinner, smoother sunscreen than I have been able to find anywhere. (I love the CeraVe pm lotion, but I find the am lotion with sunscreen to be thick.) The Trader Joe's lotion doesn't aggregate my eczema, doesn't have fragrance, doesn't reek of sunscreen, doesn't leave a shiny or greasy residue, and doesn't cost a lot. What's not to like?

Non-greasy- vacation perfect

Great price, non-irritating, used this on body during vacation (not swimming) and did not burn. Not greasy, nor did it dry out my skin after showering as many mineral sunscreens do. Strongly recommended for a lightweight sunscreen for face and body.

Good as a hand moisturizer

I actually use this as a daytime hand moisturizer because it's so hard to find a hand cream with sunscreen that's fragrance free (and affordable). I want to protect my hands from sun damage but I'm allergic to the fragrance in most products marketed as hand moisturizers. It has a good texture and absorbs nicely!
