This lightweight sunscreen lotion is very water-resistant, meaning you can be submerged in a pool or otherwise wet for up to 80 minutes before you need to reapply. Of course, water-resistant or not, always reapply after toweling dry, even if 80 minutes hasn’t passed.
Although this sunscreen has its strong points (such as a fragrance-free formula and vitamin-based antioxidants for additional protection) we’re concerned about the amount of avobenzone. Only 1% is included, yet the norm for most sunscreens rated SPF 30 is 2–3%. The homosalate active ingredient provides UVA protection, too, though not to the same extent avobenzone does. In short, it’s possible this sunscreen will leave your skin vulnerable to the sun’s most aging rays, which keeps us from rating it higher. If you opt to try this anyway, it's best for normal to oily skin and suitable for breakout-prone skin.

California-based specialty grocer chain Trader Joe's isn't the first place you may think of when shopping for skin care, and rightly so: the bulk of this store's inventory is, not surprisingly, foods and beverages. However, they've recently ventured into sun care and offer a couple of worthwhile, inexpensive sunscreens. Neither formula is knock-your-socks-off spectacular, but both provide reliable UVA protection and are quite the beauty bargain to boot. If you have a Trader Joe's in your neighborhood, the sunscreens are definitely worth a look, especially if you have a family to cover from head to toe during summer months when more of us are outdoors for long periods of time.
