Plant extract whose active constituents are anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. Whether the leaves, roots, or seeds are used, burdock is a helpful ingredient for all skin types. Burdock leaf has mild antibacterial action so can be helpful for those struggling with acne (though it doesn't replace long-proven ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide). It can cause contact dermatitis for those allergic to plants in the ragweed family (Sources: www.naturaldatabase.com; Inflammopharmacology, October 2010, Epublication; and Journal of Chromatorgraphy, April 2010, pages 2,441-2,4446).
