Cell-Communicating Ingredients
Herb in the family Araliaceae, native to Asia. A small number of studies carried out on animals have shown that ginseng may have anti-tumor, anti-cancer, and wound-healing properties (Sources: Journal of Korean Medical Science, December 2001, Supplemental, pages 38–41; and Cancer Letter, March 2000, pages 41–48), although there is also research showing that it can stimulate the growth of breast cancer cells (Source: Menopause, March–April 2002, pages 145–150). There is also in vitro research showing it can stimulate collagen production (Source: Journal of Ethnopharmacology, January 2007, pages 29–34). There is no evidence indicating that it has any benefit or risk when applied topically in skin-care products.
