I can't speak to how it would work for women's shaving areas, but for a beard it's a nearly perfect product. I've always used Nivea For Men shaving gel with great results but thought I'd give Paula's Choice a try since it was a free trial option with my last purchase. So glad I gave it a try.
The fact that it goes on clear takes some getting used to, as others have said, because you don't always know where you've already shaved but it's not that big a deal. Left my face feeling soft and irritation free.
Give it a try - even if it's just a trial sample.

Shave gel
i have been trying and searching for a new shave gel after my last product went up by 200% every 6 months! i am wanted to ensure quality ingredients with no parabens etc, scents or cehmical to make it foam up. This product is amazing! one of the closest shave and you use so little i am amazed. Many of the reviews of the new blend did not sounds good, i am glad i took the chance. it's amazing!

The Green Choice
Reading the other reviewers unhappiness about the reformulation, I realize that I have not had the same problem because I use Venus with the lubrication bar on it and I have no problems with nicks or irritation. I like that this gel doesn't smell to high heaven of perfumes like other shave products, men or women's, and I like that it is environmentally friendly and not tested on animals. I have used this for several years and feel it is worth the price and I am used to the no lather experience.

I thought I would try this shaving gel, despite some of the negative reviews about it. Unfortunately, I too have to say that this is an unsatisfactory product. The product has no lather, is quite thin, and does not protect from razor burn/rash. I also have to use a fair amount of it each time I shave my legs. I am very disappointed with it. Love It!
After using drug store shaving creams and gels with mixed results, I decided to give this product a try. All I can say is i love it! I have a coarse beard and can use the Close Comfort Shave Gel with no problems. I think it gives me the closest shave I've ever had. The gel rinses clean from my 4-blade shaver without any problems. I highly recommend this to everyone.

I hated it
1. It is hard to see on your skin so it is hard to see where you have shaved.
2. It clogs my muti-blade Shick Quatro razor.
3. The razor doesn't glide as well as with products like Kiss My Face.
4. The resulting shave is not nearly as close as I got from previous shaving creams and gels.
I dislike this product so much that after four tries, I am going to get rid of it.

One of a kind shave!
This is the only shaving product have used since it debuted years ago,love the soothing non foaming, fragrance and oil free gel formula.Though must say burns a bit when goes on,don't remember if it did the same before product ingredients list changed a bit.But overall very happy!

Great Shave Gel
Gel does an amazing job of creating a barrier between the blade and my skin. While it does not create a nice lather like Aveeno did, I seem to be getting a much better shave with this product. I will continue to use this!

Unremarkable...
I've been wowed by every other PC product, so this was a disappointment. A very basic shaving gel... there are more interesting things on my husband's side of the bathroom shelf.

Pretty Much Perfect
I've been using this product for many years now. I no longer even know what else is available on the market, because this shaving gel leaves nothing to be desired. Perfect texture for shaving, great price, non-sensitizing, no fragrance, even a very subtle bluish color that appeals to the senses. It's really hard to imagine how it can be improved upon. Fights Irritation, But Not Very Lubricating
Wonderful at fighting irritation, which wouldn't occur in the first place if gel was more lubricating. I mix it with Zirh, which is very slick.

Good
This is a very good shaving gel if you have very sensitive skin, except you seem to need to pile it on thick to avoid cuts. I tried Neutrogena's Razor Defense for men and I like it just as much (it contains no skin irritants besides "fragrance" which is the last ingredient) and it's cheaper. I do appreciate the moisturizing and anti-irritation properties of this gel though.

This product provides an effective barrier and is indeed soothing. It is best suited for women's legs, rather than a man's beard. It "rinses" acceptably under running water on legs, but does not "splash" of the face easily. In fact, it is tedious work trying to do so. Does Close Comfort Shave Gel foam?

How much do I need to use?
If you're a man about to shave his face, a nickel-sized amount should be sufficient to cover the beard area with a thin layer or gel.
