Nice texture on lips (not sticky). Wears well under other lipstick/gloss. I don't notice any white cast that others have mentioned. It is one of the only lip balms I've found w/ physical sunblocks (i.e. Titanium Dioxide or Zinc Oxide).

What I've been looking for
I've used the a lip product with SPF 50, and it would make my lips tingle (probably due to the high SPF). I also used tinted lip balms with SPF, but then I wouldn't be able to wear another lip color. I've even used a product with physical sunscreen that left my lips a ghostly white.
This is a wonderful product, because it is moisturizing and does not irritate my lips. I can put this on under my lipstick/lipgloss and not worry about it altering the color of my lips and get sun protection too.

New Formula
I've been using this lipscreen for years and have always secretly wished the formula wasn't so white! The new sheer formula addresses that and now it's perfect. Not a hint of white and i think this formula won't melt like the old formula did!

Drying...
It's very hard to find a lip product with effective sunscreen, for some reason, so I was very excited to try this. Unfortunately, I find that it is too drying and not moisturizing enough for my lips. This one's a keeper
I have dry lips that constantly need lip balm cover otherwise they flake, crack and bleed. I've been using it everyday and it's done it's job we'll. It's moisturising, has SPF15, leaves no colour, gives a soft moist gloss and hasn't given my sensitive lips an allergic reaction. Thanks Paula!

Outstanding Reformulation
First of all, it's not true that this product is sheer, even post-reformulation. Translucent, perhaps, but it's not transparent. However, it used to be opaque, and looked like cupcake frosting smeared on the lips. But despite that, it still felt good. The new version will make your lips slightly white/pink, but it's subtle -- definitely not a deal-breaker.
The new formulation feels great. The reviews seemed mixed on this one, but I did not detect any sort of unpleasant flavor from this, and I think it still feels very soothing and moisturizing. Yes, the price is steep for a tube of lip balm, but what sets it apart is the fact that it has staying power. Most lip balms, even the very moisturizing ones, simply disappear after a period of time.
And, finally, the aesthetics are on par with the formula itself. I always thought this product worked well, but it really looked terrible. For winter protection during the day, I know of nothing better (or even as good).

Not my favorite
I really wanted to like this chap stick since I love so many other Paula's Choice products. I found that it is too waxy feeling and thick for me. I like chap sticks to feel like they are emollient enough but not like I'm frosting my lips. I ended up finding an alternative through Beautypedia. I now use Banana Boats Aloe Vera Vitamin E chap stick with SPF 45. Much better consistency and taste. Customer Care Response: Thank you for your review. Disappointed in reformulation
I was a huge fan of this product before it was reformulated. I used to buy it 3 at a time...kept one in my purse, one in my makeup bag & one as a backup or for my son to use. Since the reformulation it isn't nearly as emollient as it used to be so I have to re-apply it more often & it has a very undesirable after taste. I find that I am wiping it off to try to get rid of the odd taste. The after taste is a biggie for me. It is why I was so loyal to the product after trying so many others over the years. I am afraid that I may be returning my last order (I ordered 3 after it had been on back order for so long while being reformulated) & have to keep searching again. Disappointed. Best Lip Protection I've Used
I'm on my second tube and like that the white cast is gone though I didn't mind it too much. Was zinc oxide removed? This lipscreen feels better on my lips than the others I've tried, though the old formula felt expecially rich and creamy. Others have tended to irritate my lips, cause some tingling and don't last as long. I am an avid hiker and would love to see this made with an SPF of 30 and perhaps a little lower price tag. Customer Care Response: Thank you for your review! Do to some recent changes at the manufacturer level, the consistency of this product has changed slightly. While there are no ingredient changes per say, the new blend of ingredients contains titanium dioxide that is now micronized. This actually helps the product go on more smoothly and less white.

So glad to see this back in stock. I was afraid it was being retired! This is one of the only beauty products I'm loyal to, and have stuck with for almost a decade. I concur with others, that this is the only lip balm that does what it's supposed to do - give long-lasting protective moisture, and it softens without feeling sticky or annoying. Years ago I had a problem with the caps, but it seems to have been fixed. Thanks for re-stocking!

I love it - just the way it is!
This is my absolute favorite, just the way it is! I have never had a problem with the cap. I love the product - the way it feels and looks. I buy one for each of my kids. I love that their lips are protected from the damaging rays of the sun - especially when they're out on the soccer field or biking or just outside for hours on end. Sad it is out of stock.

Best Lipbalm Period!
This lipbalm is the best and I have tried them all. The cap WAS a problem but it must have been fixed because I have not had issues with it anymore. As for the white cast on the lips, it's very minimal and disappears quickly so it's not an issue. This lipbalm keeps dry lips very soft and moisturized. I went to order this product again which I have been using since it first came out but it is out of stock. Hope it comes in soon! Customer Care Response: Thank you for your feedback. Excellent Sunscreen Lipbalm
This is an excellent sunscreen lipbalm, arguably the best on the market. I have been wearing this product for years and always purchase in bulk as this is the only lipbalm used by myself, husband and children (including toddler). The emollient texture provides wonderful moisture. The white cast is minimal and is easily camouflaged with lipstick, but is not noticeable on my family. I regularly wear the lipbalm without lipstick and have never thought twice about the white cast. Rather, it provides a subtle shine to the lips and feels great as well as provides reliable protection. I feel confident about the protection with this product because it does contain titanium dioxide as an active ingredient. If Paula were to follow the suggestion to replace this with avobenzone I would stop purchasing this product as the protection would not be as reliable. Generally I am a picky person and would be the first to notice faulty packaging, but in this case I have to say I have never had any problem with the cap falling off and I always carry the product in my purse and have a couple others in different locations around the house. My one complaint is that this product is often out of stock, this has happened at least twice in the past few months. This causes extra expense for me as I am in Canada and must pay additional custom duties charges for each shipment. Paula please do not change the formulation of this product, it is a favorite staple. However, Paula please improve your inventory control and avoid out of stock inconvenience and expense for your longtime customers. Thank you. Customer Care Response: Thank you for your feedback. Yet another winner!!!
I am currently undergoing a skin-drying dose of medication and my lips have been suffering. The lip balm I was using (from Nivea Japan) despite being SPF 16 and unfragranced wasn't giving me the moisture I needed, so I decided to try Paula's offering, with some reservation after reading about the white cast and cap issues.
Well, maybe because I'm a man and I'm not bothered about having the pinkest lips out there, but the whiteness is barely perceptible to me. The texture is exemplary. Frequent reapplication is unnecessary. The cap seems fine.
Don't be put off by the negative reviews - try it for yourself!

Hard Working Lil Lip Balm
I use this lip balm when I go out in the sun, especially in the car when Im out running errands and want to protect my lips. I have no problem with the whitish tint due to the fact that it is very moisturizing and glides on very nicely, I feel like its protecting my lips from the sun, seems like it also plumps my lips a lil also. Worth the price to me.

Great Lipbalm
I normally only use Burt's Bees lip balm (I know, the peppermint oil is terrible for my skin) because it is the only lip treatment that really keeps my lips moisturized. Every other product either did nothing or dried them out more or moisturized them to a point, but I still split my lip when I smiled. However, Paula's Moisturizing Lipscreen works like a charm! I apply it every morning and top with a nude lip pencil. It softens and protects my lips and has sunscreen to boot! It is a little soft and I would not leave it anywhere hot (car, pocket, etc.) but it is a great product and I highly recommend it.

Good product, Bad packaging
The product is excellent, but the packaging is poor. The cap cracks and then won't stay on the tube. I've bought this several times and no matter how careful I am, the cap cracks. My lips were SO dry to the point where they were bleeding during the night. I tried vaseline along with whatever else moisturizer I could find, and it seemed to make it worse. I purchased this along with the recovery lip balm and honestly, within two days, no later, my lips were smooth as silk. It cured my lips from the dryness and the flakiness. I totally recommend this product!!!

lipscreen versus intense dry heat
In cool, moist eastern Canada, Paula's Moisturizing Lipscreen is tops and I'd rate it a 5. Recently, however, I spent a week in hot, dry New Mexico. I applied the lipscreen over my lipstick as I usually do but by the end of the week my lips were peeling and sore (I'm NOT a sun worshiper, by the way). In fact, it took a few weeks after I had returned home for my lips to fully recover. I'm not sure why. I'm wondering if had I skipped the lipstick basecoat and simply applied the lipscreen to bare lips maybe I wouldn't have had that problem. Any thoughts?

The lip balm itself is great, but the cap needs to be re-designed. It falls off in my makeup bag, making a mess. Please change the packaging.

what a godsend!
I have always had a problem with chapped lips, and with finding a suitable product solution. All of the other chapsticks have made my lips more chapped, or didn't do anything to make them better, until now. I love this lipscreen becaue it has NO irritating ingredients, and has sufficient UVA and UVB protection. This is the only chapstick I will ever buy again.

Lipscreen Packaging
Even though some reviewers recommend this lipscreen be packaged in a jar or tube, I disagree. If I'm out and about and in need of a quick flick of moisturizer, I'd rather not have the bacteria from the escalator handrail over my lips. A capped tube is so much more appealing! And sanitary!

Poor Packaging
A great lip balm, but terrible packaging. I don't have the answer but I agree with all the reviewers who say that the cap is terrible--either breaks or comes off too easily and the product ends up all over your pocket or purse. And the balm does seem to soften or melt a lot, making matters worse. Would it change the nature of the lip balm if it were in a small, pocket size tube with a screw cap? At least work on the cap. No other brand lip balm cap I've used breaks or falls off so easily. Would really like to be able to buy this product again. Hope this can be fixed.

I have *very* dry lips--this lip treatment is wonderful! As others have said, it needs to be packaged differently--in a tube, in a small jar. The product gets stuck in the cap, the cap breaks..But the product itself is amazing!

Best Lip balm every used
This is truly the best lip balm I have ever used - and I have tried a fair number. I love the creamy texture and the fact that I can feel it on my lips for a long time. The caps do break, as listed below, and this product does not help with the recovery of severely chapped lips (I find that a thin coating of vapor rub before bed does the best recovery), but this is the best preventative balm.

I like the product itself, but the cap has been a problem for me. Both times I bought this product the cap had broken in my purse (under normal usage conditions) leaving the product messy and useless. Sturdier packiging would be great. I miss your Protective Lip Balm in the jar. I bought a bunch when you phased it out and now I am almost out. Even though it has long since expired, it is still good!

I think this lip product works well and does a good job of hydrating my lips, however the taste it leaves behind is horrible. Everytimse I use this product I am left with a horrible after-taste. So, overall, this product is just okay.

I love this...goes on smooth and lasts long. Some lip balms tend to dry your lips out even more! But this is a definite keeper. I think it may go on white if your lips are extremely dry and haven't been exfoliated...or if you're applying too much :)

Just got this today. It is silky smooth, creamy and ultra-moisturing without that waxy thick lumpy texture. Lays down a good protective coat that melts into the lip area and stays put. Would it be possible to make a squeeze tube formula for hot climates?

Decent texture and moisturization, but the packaging is a problem. The cap comes off easily and the product tends soften, even in a pants pocket. Once softened, the thread becomes ineffective and the product is a mess. Please repackage this product.

My Favorite Lip Treatment
