Resist Barrier Repair moisturizer
I really like this moisturizer,and find it effective around the eye area as well as over my entire face. However, I doubt I will buy it again since I have encountered the same problem with my new bottle as I did with my old one...the ineffective vacuum pump! I thought I had gone through the first bottle very quicly, but ordered another since I liked the product. Just to satisfy my hunch that there was still product in the old bottle, I removed the pump top and, sure enough, there was at least one third of the moisturizer in the bottle that the pump was not delivering!Now the same has happened with the new bottle. While the product is certainly fairly priced, it is frustrating to have to break the top off the bottle to use all the product, not to mention the additional chance of contamination. One of the best moisturizers. Hate the pump.
I have tried this for over 2 weeks and I have to say that I'm pretty impressed. I use this after cleansing and exfoliating. My skin feels incredibly smooth and soft afterwards. The only complaint I have about this product is the packaging. I hate the pump and how it sometimes get stuck. One time, the pump got stuck and I tried adding a little more strength into pushing it and a whole bunch of the product just came gushing out all at once. The pump is now cracked, doesn't work properly, and I wasted a whole bunch of the product. I would have given this 5 stars if it wasn't for the pump. Great lotion
I wear this under either a night time moisturizer or one with SPF during the day. Until I added this to my regime my skin was very dry and by the end of the day my skin would be totally flaky and gross! I worried about the retinol being too much for my dry skin, but it has not bothered me. I have dry, acne-prone skin and am in my 30's with some early aging. I use the Skin Recovery 15 SPF moisturizer for day and the dry skin mask treatment as my nightime cream, with the acne toner immediately after cleansing at night.

Love the product, pump defective
I started using the Resist Barrier Repair Moisturizer in December 2011. I love the way my skin feels and I (as well as my friends) can definitely can see a difference. My one problem is that recently the pump stopped working. Last night I had to open the bottle to try to get some of the product out. Besides being inconvenient, it is unsanitary. In error, I ordered another bottle in February which I didn't mind since, as I said I love the product. I just hope that I don't have two bottles with faulty pumps. Will there be a new bottle design coming out in the future? Customer Care Response: Thank you for your review. Good product, bad packaging
I just wanted to second Karen's comment about packaging - my experience is very similar. I already ordered a couple of shipments of this product and have a feeling that I wasted half of the amount (although I can't know exactly how much), because I can't extract it when it gets below certain level. Other than that, it seems like a good product. Not sure if it is better or different than other lines, but I like it well enough. Customer Care Response: Thank you for your comments. I have been a Paula's avid fan, ever since the "---Blue Eye Shadow" days. And I only use Paula's Choice products. I am over 70, and my skin is really good-it looks decades younger everyone tells me. So after several defective pumps on moisturizer bottles, I finally saw a way to salvage the rest of the product left in the bottle. I remove the defective pump, cover the top with saran wrap and store it upside down. Then when I use it, I move the saran to the side,and use a clean Q-tip to get enough for the evening, immediately recovering the bottle. It always lasts for several additional weeks. Perhaps I am 'polluting' it, but the choice is throwing away 1/3 of the bottle, and I am unwilling to do that. I am switching back to one of the older products as soon as I finish what I have,until this problem is fixed. The actual moisturizer is very good. Customer Care Response: Thank you for your comments. Great stuff!
I'm 38,& thanks to great genes have no wrinkles yet, but wanted something more in a face cream and this has done wonders for me. My skin is glowing and looks smooth. I'll be using only this from now on. I also use the 5& Daily Smoothing before this at night. Works great.

Wasteful packaging
I love this moisturizer: it's the ideal weight for me for day time, although I'll try one with sunscreen next, so that I don't have to apply sunscreen separately. My only disappointment is with the packaging. I used to love the simplicity of Paula's Choice packaging. It distinguished her products from all of the overpriced big name skin care brands' products. However, with these heavy pump bottles that feel as if they're 80% container and 20% product, I'm less happy to buy Paula's Choice products. I want to support environmentally friendly companies and I don't think this kind of overpackaging is the way to go. I really liked the older style plastic tubes, which also pack and travel better than these bulky pumps. Customer Care Response: MA Customer Care Response: Thank you for your review. This lotion helps my 53 yr old skin glow!
I love this light-textured lotion. I am glad the packing will change, & hope it will also have some kind if screw-on or flip cap that's much more travel-friendly. Been using Paula's Choice products for about 8 yrs now, and they have been a boon for my incredibly sensitive, changing skin. (To let you know how sensitive, I've ended up in the ER because of a nasty reaction to a hair conditioner heavily scented w/ natural citrus oils). When I started w/ PC products, I was in my mid-40's, & my skin was still slightly oily w/ a few monthly breakouts. Now, on the other side of menopause, it's even more sensitive, prone to mild rosasea in spots, dry patches in others. Yrs in S. FL & CO have left some sun damage. While I'm fine w/ some laugh lines, & time does it's work, I do want to my skin to feel & look it's best. Along w/ the wonderful 2% BHA lotion, the Resist Line has made that happen. My favorite, most faithfully used products in the line are the Barrier Repair Moisturizer w/ Retinol, & the Resist Moisturizing Sculpting Toner. Using a mild cleanser & the toner, keep the retinol from irritating my face. At 53, I receive more compliments on my skin now, than I ever have before, & though I'll share my true age, no one guesses it. Though lately I've taken to using the Tinted Moisturizer w/ sunscreen during the day, I rarely use full foundation, just a little concealer & maybe a dusting of mineral makeup for evenings out. I often go w/ no makeup but lipstick, maybe a flick of mascara. Thanks to Paula's Choice, I get to relax, protect my sensitive skin, & look good!

Not for me
I recently purchased quite a few items from the RESIST line and I am very happy with the others. Unfortunately, this one caused me the break out. I wasn't sure which of the new products it was so I eliminated each for a while and realized it was this one. I'm bummed because I need a retinol and don't know if I should try another Paula retinol in case it does the same thing. I will give it a middle of the road rating however as I do like the texture of it and the packaging/bottle. Customer Care Response: Thank you for your review. This is the one for me...
I have been a loyal Paula's Choice fan for years. Her 2% BHA has truly changed my life. My skin has recently gone through many changes, thanks to perimenopause. It has become VERY sensitive, while still oily and acne prone (and now aging too). I tried other Resist products that seemed better suited to my skin type, but had reactions. Tried this on the recommendation of a PC customer service rep. I'm so glad I did. It helps smooth the wrinkles, while still a light moisturizer that works great for my oily, aging, acne prone skin. LOVE it!

Not moisturizing enough
This moisturizer is simply not moisturizing enough...and I have normal skin. I am still looking for a Paula's choice moisturizer that provides all day moisture without heaviness. Excellent lotion!
I think this lotion is wonderful! My skin can break out very easily and I'm not quite sure what ingredient(s) cause this to happen but I can say that my skin does not break out at all with this lotion. Also, I feel very confident that I am actually using ingredients that are helping my skin to look it's best because Paula researches all ingredients effectiveness and more importantly knows which ingredients that can cause damage to your skin so I know for sure her products are safe and not going to do any harm.

not a good match for me..
This product along with a few others in this line made my skin very irritated right from the start..i gave it some time but it still kept my face dry and extremely itchy and red..not a good look...sorry! too irritating in combination with resist serum
I purchased this after reading a lot of the great reviews, for the money... i didn't find it made a huge difference for me. I used in combination with the resist antioxidant serum... and found that it made me skin very red and irritated.. although it could have been the combination of the two products. Great but causes blackheads
I love the moisturizer - the texture is amazing and it has made my skin look amazing (it moisturizes very well, but it is not heavy at all). I have been using the CLEAR Regular Strength Acne Fighting Treatment but it has not been enough to prevent the blackheads and whiteheads from springing up everywhere (I have ordered the BHA in hopes of bringing the problem under control). It's a great product but, in my case, it unfortunately has lead to blackhead and whitehead breakouts. Customer Care Response: Thank you for your review. Not moisturizing and the bad packaging
I agree that the ingredients are great but it doesn't feel very moisturizing and I have dry skin. And, I really don't like the packaging (the pump dispenser) at at all. New to PC
Almost 50, I have been looking for the "miracle" in a bottle for sometime now. I literally stumbled upon PC products...I've NEVER even heard of the stuff before. I've tried everything to get my skin to "act like" it did when I was younger.....it was like I woke up one day and EVERYTHING changed! I ordered the whole resist skin care line and all I can say is DOUBLE WOW!! Products that actually do what they say!! My skin is responding and I am thrilled with the results! What I am NOT thrilled with is the pump on this product. R&D...what were you guys thinking!? I've wasted more product than has made it to my face! Really disappointed in the packaging, but the product itself is amazing! Putt this stuff in a tried and true dispenser and I'll be happy!! Customer Care Response: Thank you for your comments! I LOVE LOVE this lotion! My face has always been super sensitive with lotions, and even the most gentle lotions will either cause stinging or breakouts. I had tried almost everythink I could find and still couldn't find a lotion that would work for my dry, sensitive skin. This is IT! The wonderful customer care representative for PC recommended I try it, and after finishing my first bottle (which NEVER happens!) I am going to order a second. My only teeny complaint is that the first bottle that was sent to me was defective and the lotion wouldn't come out of the bottle. But I contacted PC and was sent a new one immediately and haven't had a single problem since. Holy Grail status!

Wrong Choice
I thought my somewhat sensitive skin could handle this but the Retinol was too harsh for my skin. My skin was bright red and painful. I love Paula's products most of them are amazing you just have to find the ones that are right for your skin. Customer Care Response: Thank you for your review. Not such a good choice...
I have been using the Resist Clear Skin Hydrator without any issues. With the cold Northeast winter, my normally sensitive, combination skin was developing some dry patches that were turning flaky. I contacted customer service to see what I could add to my regime to combat the dry, flaky patches, and they suggested this moisturizer. I tried it for just 2 nights, and when I woke the next morning, my dry patches where extremely red and EVEN drier to the point of them hurting to the touch, and then I broke out all over my face - and not just little pimples, but painful, large, red bumps. This product was the only thing that I had changed in my routine, so I know it wasn't anything else. I have had to use 100% pure aloe and 100% pure vitamin E oil to try and help clear up the extremely dry, red patches, and have been using the extra strength acne treatment to help clear up the recent flare-up. After 8 dys now, my skin is still tryin to recover. I have gone back to my normal routine. This is my first product that I would/will never recommend. Yummy!
Another great PC product. I love the whole Resist Line! A little bit goes a long way and I love how it makes my skin feel. Non-greasy but moisturized. I have 55 year old skin that is a little on the dry side. I always thought you had to have all these super greasy lotions and creams for it to really work. Not so! My skin has never looked better. :)

Great product, not so great package
I love this product. Unfortunately, the time I bought it the pump stopped working after a few weeks. I've had better luck with the second bottle. I feel like I only got to use half of the first bottle before it stopped pumping, which is disappointing given the price. Isn't there a better way to package this product? Not so good for me!
I have been using your RESIST Intensive Wrinkle Repair Retinol Serum for almost 1 month twice a day with wonderful results. I decided to order the RESIST barrier repair moisturizer with retinol. However, this moisturizer is not for me. It stings and is not nearly moisturizing enough. I have never had a problem with retinol as seen with my use of the serum. I guess I reacted to it for some other reason. I can't use it, but it would be a good light moisturizer for summer for others who can tolerate it. I'll save my money and try the RESIST normal/dry skin moisturizer without retinol to see if that is more moisturizing when I can afford it. Ladies don't let this keep you from trying it. Nice and lightweight
This moisturizer is perfect for my combination skin. I also use it under my eyes twice daily. Fortunately, I never encountered a packaging issue and I like that it's airtight. I have suggestion for Paula's Choice team regarding helping us to know how much is in a package. Maybe you could send labels with an "opened on_______" .That way we can order just the second bottle early and as soon as the first one is done, we will have an idea of how long it took us to go through it. From then on, reordering will be more efficient.

Not a barrier repair for me
This has great ingredients and I'm sure it will work well for many people. I did not find it to be moisturizing enough and I am guessing it was the retinol that made my skin more irritated and flaky. It is undoubtedly a wonderful retinol product but I did not find it to be enough of a "barrier repair". I think I just don't tolerate retinol so well - if you do, by all means give it a try!

GREAT moisturizer to start on RETINOL
Tried this because I needed a stronger night-time moisturizer for my oily/combo skin (which is winter-dry right now), w/ a little anti-aging help incorporated. This has delivered on BOTH counts, w/o irritation. Like it that it has a lighter, silkier feel yet doesn't compromise on moisturization. Bought the full-size after trying the RESIST sample set. HOWEVER, the elegant-looking but NON-USER-FRIENDLY DESIGN HAS GOT TO GO! Bottle is too tall for one's thumb to press down the dispenser w/ ease, second, the product dribbles a little, & gets stuck in the narrow crevices on either side of the dispensing orifice. Not very hygienic. Please go to a shorter bottle with a larger thumbpad area. Appreciate that you use ingredient-stable pkg., but this could use improvement.

Love the ingredients, but not the feel. :)
I have really dry skin (despite living in hot, humid Florida) and I was hoping this moisturizer would "feel" more moisturizing at night. I find myself trying to find another moisturizer to layer on top so my skin doesn't feel so dry. I love the ingredients and I wanted to try something with retinol, I only wish it was more soothing. Overall a great product, but if you've got really dry skin I'd recommend something else. I'm also using the Skin Recovery serum with retinol, is it necessary to have a moisturizer with retinol as well to get the same effects? If I can get the same benefit by using just the serum, I'd gladly try another of Paula's moisturizers. I've only been trying Paula's products for a week but so far I love them and am excited to see how my skin looks in a month. :) Customer Care Response: Thank you for your review. This particular product is a lighter silkier lotion texture which may not be moisturizing enough for those with more drier skin. Another option is our Moisture Boost Hydrating Treatment Cream which is a richer more moisturizing cream texture and also includes many excellent anti-aging ingredients. Retinol is a great anti-wrinkle ingredient so if your skin responds well to it we do suggest using more than one product in your routine with the ingredient. You may certainly still use your Skin Recovery Serum along with the Moisture Boost Cream to see how they work and feel for you. Need a heads up on new packaging
I love this moisturizer, but I won't buy another bottle until the packaging is changed (as you mentioned it would be in another review). I've received 2 with defective pumps. Simply the best!
I have used a ton of moisturizers: some good, and some bad. The RESIST Barrier Repair Moisturizer is one of the BEST I have ever used! I love the amount of antioxidants and yummy good-for-your-skin ingredients it contains. You can't go wrong with this one.

Great Winter Protection Cream, Badly Faulty Bottle
I am writing for my son who received this as a gift from his gf's Mom. It is his second bottle as he really relies on and adores this protective cream while out skiing and working outdoors in our harsh winters. He really relies on this twice a day to both moisturize his face and provide comfortable protection. He has used this 2nd gift bottle since early December, and says the bottle is still about 85% or more full. He had difficulty from the very beginning with the inside mechanism and upper pump that pushes down. The plunger in the top part is jammed way down and he can't get this to work, it is very stuck in place. He is 25 yrs of age and although very disappointed in his fave cream being faulty, refuses to write a complaint to a company. So I would like to recommend to Paulas team for him to maybe try to re-work the mechanics of this lid and springy part inside. He wanted me to ask if this same cream comes in a squeeze tube? I will be buying him a replacement bottle for his birthday and I hope it will work as well as his first bottle did. In the meantime he is using the Moisture Boost Treatment Cream but he finds this a tad too greasy and overly moisturizing for his skin. He loves how the Resist Barrier cream absorbs instanly. I wanted to say that we (mostly my entire family) simply love all of the PC products that we have live by and continue to think that these are still the very best and most carefully researched skin care products available. Too bad this bottle was a dud of a container. Thank you for reading my review... as I said, never a problem before amongst us using these for many years but I really think this could be somehow improved. He is now absolutely desperate to get this cream out of the bottle! Lol... I told him not to hurt himself opening it and he says he will not. (Just shows how he loves this formula.) am i the only one here thrilled with this type of packaging?? lol my understanding is that because it's airtight, the ingredients last longer and remain potent (which I'd prefer over using something that only works for the first half of the bottle). This product is great! It's great to have something I feel good about putting on my skin :)

Good moisturizer
I like this moisturizer, however I do layer a lightweight serum under it as I found it was not quite hydrating enough for my dry skin. I will buy this again. Also, I like the way my makeup applies over it, nice and smooth. Thanks!

Great product
I love this product and would have given it a 5 if it weren't for the packaging. I have run into the same problems as the other reviewers. This products make my skin feel like silk and when I wake up in the morning my skin still feels so soft and smooth. Love it!

it really works!
I am 51 yr old with very fair sensitive combination skin. I used RoC creams with Retinol, but they were too oily for me. This lotion is truly wonderful. It gives very comfortable level of moisture, absorbs fast, leaves my skin soft and supple. My problem areas of wrinkles look much smoother and beleive it or not, less wrinkled. It works around my eyes, too! I will purchase this lotion again, definitely!

Wasn't for me
This product wasn't for me at all. I have normal/oily skin prone to breakouts and I thought this was for all skin types. My skin type is not included as this moisturizer was too much for me. It went on smoothly and felt great to begin with but my skin felt slick/oily later and I broke out with it. I am going to order the RESIST Anti-Aging Clear Skin Hydrator now that it is available to see if that will work for me. I am sure this is a great product for someone not prone to break outs though! Improvement Made to Formula?
I've been using this moisturizer on and off since it was first launched. It has now become a staple in my skin care routine. I had so many problems with the pump, the first few I purchased. The formula seemed a bit lighter, thinner back then, too. For a while, I just stopped using the product. In recent months, I used up my last bottle and used a q-tip to get the product out of the bottle. I repurchased another one last month and was surprised to feel the new texture - it still seems lightweight but there's more "body" to the lotion - almost more hydrating - I really like it! I now use it every day both morning and night. I can't tell if it's made any major improvements to my skin, but I definitely like the finish it gives - just enough dewiness without looking shiny or greasy. As for the pump, I just try to not push it down all the way - that's when it gets stuck. I gently press down the top (only about halfway) to dispense a really small amount at a time. It seems if I do this, it doesn't get stuck. I wish Paula would change the pump to be like the one on the 5% Daily Treatment - I don't seem to have any problems with that one.

Excellent product
I have very fair dry skin and have been using this moisturizer for quite some time. It works well, doesn't cause redness, I've never had a problem with the pump. A little goes a long way. A Dr. told me that my facial skin looks 20 years younger than most women my age. I'm aging for sure, and am pleased to look as good as I can for my age.

Best Retinol Product Ever
I love this product. It is the best retinol product I have ever used, and I have tried quite a few, including Retin-A and Renova. It is also the easiest to use. I have had no problem with the pump at all. I do not have to use another moisturizer over it, and it is not drying or irritating to my skin. I love it and am so glad I finally tried it. Love this moisturizer!
I am a woman of a certain age who has to put up with wrinkles and still gets breakouts. I have combination skin and it tends to be drier in the winter. I also have sensitive skin. This moisturizer hydrates evenly, without being too heavy or too light. It works well with my acne (!) medication and is gentle enough to use around my eyes. I'm a believer!

Good But Drying
Over all I feel this is a great product. I however, have extremely dry skin . Even when I use other Paula's products along with the Resist Barrier Repair Moisture to keep my skin hydrated, I still wake up in the morning with very tight, dry skin. Works for me
Paula's retinol products work for me (unlike many others which irritate my skin). I use the Resist barrier repair moisturizer at night and will combine with the serum during winter when the weather is dry. I also use the cellular defense spf 25 during the day and my skin looks terrific (I am in my mid-50s). I prefer flip top tube packaging, which is why I gave this only four stars (much better for travel too).

Great Product
I have only been using this product for 2 days in the evening but I could see a difference in my skin after the first use. My skin was much softer, hydrated and even toned. I ordered the sample, which came very quickly and now I am back to purchase the full size version. I am so excited to get it and keep using it. expensive, not that effective
I didn't think this was worth the money. I tried it because my prescription-strength retinol was too irritating - and also difficult to apply the doctor-recommended "pea size" amount for my entire face because it's so thick. I was using the RESIST moisturizer and then applying the retinol. Applying the RESIST moisturizer first did help spread the prescription retinol. For me, the prescription retinol just doesn't do that much besides irritate my skin, and I don't require the moisturizers that are in the RESIST moisturizer.

A Phenominal Product!
If you truly want to take your skin to the next level, this is the product for you! It will make you learn to love your skin all over again! This moisturizer has a light, silky texture to it that feels divine! It absorbs almost instantly into the skin. It is completely odorless. Good, but don't recommend for dry skin
The RESIST Barrier Repair Moisturizer is a good lotion that has good ingredients. But if you have skin on the drier side, I suspect that this might not be moisturizing enough for you. I actually have normal skin (normal to slightly dry in the winter, normal to slightly oily in the summer), so this product works fine for me (although, I don't think this is going to be moisturizing enough for me in the winter). But I would guess that many for whom this product is geared toward (e.g., some middle-aged to more mature individuals) are on the drier side to begin with (note: I'm not saying everyone in that age group has drier skin types). So if you do have dry skin and are trying this out for this first time (after using other moisturizers for your dry skin type), you might be a bit disappointed and possibly notice that this feels less moisturizing than other products you may have tried. So if you have dry skin, it might be a good thing to take note of that. Also, the product description online says you could used this as your eye cream. While, for me, it works okay, it definitely doesn't feel like the typical eye creams most people are accustomed to--the heavy feel of eye creams. Therefore, because the description says you don't need a separate eye cream (which basically is a way of saying that you can use this as an eye cream), it can inadvertently cause people into thinking that the consistency of this lotion is on the richer side when it really isn't. So again, although this product generally works fine for me, others may find it not moisturizing enough (particularly someone with drier skin). Otherwise, it's a good product!

Love Resist
I'm trying the Resist Toner, serum, lightening cream and Moisturizer. I haven't noticed much change in my dark spots, but I know it takes time. I LOVE the toner, and the serum and moisture feel wonderful. My skin feels so good after cleansing, sometimes I can't stop touching my face. I love love love this moisturizer. It sinks in quickly and actually feels like it replaces moisture rather than just sinking in and disappearing. It is a perfect addition to the other products in the line. My only complaint is the pump, which dispenses only a tiny amount and gets stuck a lot, making it kind of a pain in the neck to dispense; you need to pump it between five and eight times to get the right amount and wait for it to become unstuck.

Best moisturizer I ever tried
The texture is unbelievably smooth, light and silky, but not greasy like many other silicone products. Since I've started using this (I am currently on my 2nd bottle), my skin doesn't break out anymore and it feels comfortable, soft and moisturized. I highly recommend this over expensive department creams such as La mer, Estee Lauder, Clarins, Shiseido, and Clinique (which I have all tried).

Excellent for Aging Skin!
I am 62 and had been using Paula's Skin Recover line. When the Resist line came out, I tried it product by product. Each product was far superior to any other I had used (super expensive ones included!). And the thing I love the best is how my neck is responding! Nothing has ever worked on this area, but it is looking younger and younger. I have never had any "work" done, but when I take care of myself with the excellent skin care products from PC I can keep the wrinkles at bay and my skin looking YEARS younger!

At first it was ok (dry skin issues)
At first, I really liked this product. I have dry, sensitive, combination skin. Even more DRY when I travel/in the winter. Now the lotion is not working for me and my face is super dry. Made me break out
I liked the texture if this moisturizer. I have oily skin and and it didn't feel too heavy. So I was surprised when my skin developed deep, painful cysts after use. Don't give up right away if you have redness
I just wanted to say that if you have rosacea and get any redness with this or any retinol product, try diluting it half strength with Cerave or another neutral moisturizer--at least at first. You may also have to use it every other night until your skin adjusts to the retinol. I always have to do this with retinol-containing product. I still like what it does for my skin, so it's worth going through these steps to me.

best system out there
The RESIST system has markedly improved the quality of my skin. I do add a retinol product twice a week, but I see that there is retinol in the antioxident serums. Minimized pigment changes by almost 75% in my opinion. Fine lines improved as well. Great stuff!!! Everyone considering laser treatment for aging skin should try this line first. You will spend less on expensive laser therapy and may not get it at all!!!

Great when combined with other moisturizers!
I like the light tingling and warmth I feel (not uncomfortable at all) as i realise the formula is very potent. I use it at night, usually over or under a more emollient product as my skin is most comfortable well moisturized in the evenings. I find that I can even put extra virgin olive oil on my face with this on top as it helps with penetration and absorbtion alot! My skin is left soothed and nourished. Powerful strengthener !
This is a incredible strengthening moisturizer for all skin types : it has a lovely non greasy gel-cream consistency (it doesn't release oil like the Moisture Boost or Skin Recovery moisturizers), it reduces redness upon application, has no smell at all, leaves a nice silky feeling on the skin (especially impressive as it's silicone-free), and the protective formula is outstanding to strengthen a sensitized skin like mine was ! The only strange point is the drastic consistency change if this moisturizer is used immediately after exfoliant : when applied on acidified skin it becomes as liquid as a lotion (which is enjoyable as it allows lots of playtime to apply it without rubbing, but spread it quickly then gently pat to finish because if you massage just a little too long it begins to peel off), while when applied on simply toned skin (no pH change) it stays thick and lacks slip/spreadability (it's not unpleasant but slightly uncomfortable). I experienced a very light irritation around the nose when I used it at first but after several weeks of regular use I didn't feel this tingling anymore. I've been using this cream for one year and never got such good results with a moisturizer :-)

good but tricky with rosacea
I have used PC for as long as she has made products and my rosacea has been in complete remission. This cream is very good, light and silky, and does give a good glow to my skin. However, I began to notice a few rough red patches on my chin and a blotch on my cheek...I had not seen any rosacea for over ten years, so I didn't recognize it. Yep, it is probably the retinol. I will keep trying and see if it goes back into remission as it is a great night cream for me.

Eliminates the serious dry spots
I can't use this on my face- I'm too oily and it makes me break out. BUT! I started using this on a few stubborn sore/dry areas: the outer corners of my eyes, the bottom of my nostrils, which were sore and dry from allergy sneezing, and my cuticles. I'd used all sorts of moisturizers, creams, ointments, etc. to no avail. The Barrier Repair Moisturizer WORKED. No more irritated, dry spots. A teeny amount does it.

a truly stand-out product, no regrets!
I was hesitant to try this, because staying CLEAR has always been a priority over "resisting." I'm glad I took a chance though; I've been using this for about a month now and am VERY pleased with the results. Acne scars are fading, improved clarity overall, more even skin tone, a truly visible difference. 5 stars for the silky consistency designed for a variety of skin types to use and enjoy. 5 stars for ultra-stable packaging; I haven't had any problems with the pump. I imagine this would be a great product to start with for anyone who is new to Paula's Choice.

My dry skin was not happy
I was very excited when you came out with this product. I have used Paula's products ever since she started them. I have rarely been disappointed....but this was. I usually use the skin recovery moisturizer at night (I have very dry, sensitive skin). I couldn't believe how dry and wrinkled my skin looked and felt the following morning after using the Resist moisturizer. I used it continually hoping for a change, but with no luck. Excellent-super silky BUT
This is a very good nightime mositurizer I was debating between this or the moisture boots hydrating cream which is $4 less and :2 ounces more, but the retinol and added antioxidants prompted me to go with this one. The only thing I would suggest is if you have dry skin around the eye you would need an additional product for the eye area. Although this works for eye area and is smooth during winter months I personally need a more emoilliant thicker product for just the eye area. That's why will be purchasing the mositurs boost hydrating cream and will use both

Very nice...but!
I love this moisturizer for all the wonderful benefits it affords the skin and for it's lightweight feel. You did a great job of concocting this one Paula! My only beef with it is that it doesn't come in a larger container! Paula, we need a larger version with more product so that we can save on shipping. Since we will need to order it often we will be spending nearly 1/3 of the cost of the product itself in shipping costs each time we order it. A larger container will give us more product and we will be spending less for shipping overall. I would have given it a 5 star rating if not for the limited amount we get in this size container....Please condider a larger version! Great product
This is the best product I've ever used. I had a burn scar on my forehead (from a flat-iron)that peeled and disappeared less than a week after using it. I've had the scar for approx. 10 years. People have asked me what I use on my skin, and my mother-in-law aked me to order her a bottle after I gave her samples. Great after a light chemical peel
I have recently been getting light chemical peels and started to apply this to my skin once it started peeling on days when I had to got to work. It was amazing, you couldn't tell at all how flaky my skin was and there was absolutely no irritation. The moisture lasted until I washed my face in the evening. The texture is fantastic.

Not too emollient
This moisturizer is great for combination skin. Even when used in conjunction with the RESIST Antioxidant Concentrate, my dry/combination skin doesn't look or feel greasy in the least, just comfortable. I was surprised to see that this moisturizer contains retinol, because usually my skin doesn't cope well with retinol, but my skin does fine with this product. I have noticed a slight reduction in fine lines, and I truly think this product has improved my skin's moisture barrier, as I don't have to use an additional moisturizer over this one anymore! Interesting, well-formulated moisturizer.

Follow up to first reviw
I originally gave this product a poor review even though I like the product because the pump broke on 2 separate bottles I ordered on 2 separate occasions. Customer service replaced the bottles and sent a note explaining that there was a defect in the pump that had been corrected. The new bottles work without problem and I am happy with the moisturizer and get many compliments on my skin. My only suggestion is to add SPF protection.

I use Retin A over most of my face, but can not apply it under my nose around my mouth and on my chin. I bought this product primarily for these areas and my neck. Handy tip
I've only tried a sample of this product, and have not bought a full bottle yet. So far, I really like the texture and I am considering buying the full bottle, but I've been reading some of the reviews that say they have trouble figuring out how much is left in the bottle in order to know when to buy more, and thought I'd share a trick that I have for figuring out how much is left of any product when it's in an opaque bottle. Try shining a flashlight through it. If the bottle is very dark or very opaque, you may need to use a brighter flashlight or do this in a darker room, but you should be able to see something of how much product is left. This is how I check how much I have left of all of my PC products.

Can't live without this product!
I usually don't like using moisturizer because my skin is acne-prone and on the oily side... but this product is an exception! I have never been so happy since using this moisturizer!! I have tried the other Paula's Choice moisturizers, but they didn't agree with my skin! This one, on the other hand, is the best moisturizer I have ever tried! I have not experienced any breakout or irritation, even around the eyes! This moisturizer combined with the Resist serum is the best thing I could do for my skin! Can't keep hands off face
Not an expert, but I firmly believe efective % retinols (such as this wonderful product) should only be used at night. PAST daytime usage experiences with other effective % retinols resulted in brown patches for me. I'll patiently wait and hope for a DAYTIME AHA & a truly sheer tinted tit./zinc. sunscreen with this lotion's look and feel...hydrated fresh face natural. Great with or without layering (& most layer). The most outstanding product I've ever had on my face!

I was a bit nervous about the retinol ingredient in this moisturizer, because my skin is really sensitive and those negative comments regarding retinol used on sensitive skin. Breaks me out
It took me over a month (only by eliminating certain products) to realize that this product is breaking me out in small little bumps on chin, forehead and neck. I like the container, texture and how soft it feels on my skin. I can't use this product. Love everything so far and have use Paula's Choice for over 2 years. Best! Wonderfully Formulated Product - A Real Winner!
I'm a faithful user of PC for at least 12 years. The RESIST moisturizer is amazing! I'm pushing 70, live in the desert Southwest and have a true combination skin. I saw an immediate improvement in my skin's texture and moisturization, without a hint of oiliness. I even find it compatible when used under my eye makeup. The packaging problems are tolerable considering the benefits of the product. I'm sure PC will tweak things in this regard. Keep up the good work!

Tilte it 'Retinol Moisturizing Treatment'
This is perfect for my dry skin with surface oil issues, enlarged pores, blackheads. I've experienced a 'purging process' of pimples that is diminishing. Retinol helps greatly and quickly with these issues. Web searches will help explain some of these neck, eye, and warming sensation reviews. I use once a day at night(will use less if develop problems). Thank you so much for this outstanding product with no silicones or mattifying ingred.(that I can tell). If your skin is acne-prone, WATCH OUT!! Try samples first. By the time I experimented enough to confirm Resist caused the acne, the 60-day return period was past (although the cost of postage makes returns pointless anyway). SO far SO good!
Really digging this product, Paula! I can see that it's lightweight consistency may mean I layer a more emollient moisturizer on top in the winter, but I don't mind. This almost seems like a serum. Leaves a matte, soft finish on my combo skin. I'm looking forward to finishing the bottle to see it's full effect. I also LOVE the air tight container. So far I've had NO problems with it. IT WORKS!
I've been using the Resist barrier repair moisturer for over 6 weeks now and I have seen improvement in the crease lines just above my jaw. The lines haven't disappeared but they have diminished somewhat.

Like Skin Recovery Moisturizer Better
Like the packaging and hoped it would work since recommended for roseaca. However, after a few uses, it now leaves my skin tight and shiny whereas Paula's skin recovery moisturizer leaves it supple and matte and has not caused further irritation.

Once Is Not Enough!
I've used this for 2 weeks. It is very pleasant, but so far my face hasn't been "remodeled". I wish to goodness more people would wait a few weeks or even months before writing such gushing reviews. The test of a good skin product is not in how great it makes your skin feel after one application! It takes time & consistent, correct application to determine the validity of claims made for any face cream. Even reading the research provided is not enough. I want to know what *this* product, as formulated, does for those who've actually used it for several (at least 5) weeks.

Packaging not a problem
Unless the pump containers for this product are not consistent, I have to say that I did not experience one issue with this container. I was able to use the product down to the last drop. Often when this type of container stops working a few simple taps of the bottom on the counter are enough to get them going. They also should not be opened. This is a superior product that I will definitely reorder.

Break out
I recently had a facial and was told that even though I am slightly oily in the T zone and have lots of blackheads, that I have dry skin and should use a moisturizer. I've tried other PC moisturizers but had a small break out. I was hopeful with Resist, but the same thing happened. I like the light weight texture, but I don't understand why this happens to me. Love, love, LOVE this product!
The day this product launched, I immediately bought a bottle for my mother (age 65), and for myself (age 30). After only a few applications, we were both completely hooked! I have combination skin that is somewhat prone to blackheads, and I can use this moisturizer every night over Paula's 2% BHA, and it doesn't seem to have any pore clogging effects whatsoever, which is wonderful. The aspect of this product that both my mother and I like the most however, is the amazing improvement in skin texture, and we have found this to be particularly noticeable around the eye area. We both already have "good" skin, but this product takes our already good skin to the next level. As a former aesthetician, I have been fed every line about practically every product in the book, and I can honestly say that this product actually performs up to, and exceeds my very high expectations. Amazing is an understatement
This moisturizer makes my skin feel like pure silk. I use it at night only because it doesn't have sunscreen in it, and I never wake up with dry skin in the morning anymore! It Was the Retinol!
I discontinued use of this product because I too developed several red bumps on my skin. However, upon re-reading the ingredient list, I see that it has retinol. So, I will continue its use, as this occurs, for me, with all retinol-based products. As it is still much less irritating than the lowest retin-a cream I've used, I'm really happy to have come upon this product description again. Will start tonight! (5 stars to follow after a few weeks of successful use.)

Nothing better!!!

I love this moisturizer. It feels absolutely luxurious. Although it is light, it feels very moisturizing and absorbs so well into the skin, leaving a moist, but not greasy feel. Though light, it feels very concentrated, and I wouldn't say it's like a serum. If I feel I need a heavier moisturizer over certain areas, I simply apply a bit of the Skin Recovery Moisturizer over this. I highly recommend Resist Barrier Repair, whether used alone or in conjunction with other products.

Just finished the sample size. The first thing I noticed is I can't apply my foundation on top of this moisturizer. It balls up and my foundation just came right off. Resist Barrier Repair Moisturizer feels like a cross between a serum and a light moisturizer. It's perfect for my combination skin. My cheeks feel so smooth, and the texture is less slick than most serums. The product feels smooth, absorbs nicely and your face feels so soft in the morning. Not sold on this yet
This is a lightweight moisturizer, so I'm not sure why it's advertised for dry skin. I just returned from a cruise and it was perfect for the humid climate. Now that I'm back in cold and dry weather, it doesn't come close to providing the moisture my skin needs. I also am dismayed at the pilling that other reviewers have noted. Because of it, I can only wear this at night. I will continue to use it for the exceptional ingredients, but remain hopeful for a reformulation. So Far So Good
I'm liking this moisturizer so far. I have seen improvements in my skin tone, smoothness, and reduced lines. I started using it at the same time as the AHA, and really love the combination and the results I'm seeing. I rarely wear foundation anymore. It is a little on the light side for my very dry skin, but for day its nice under my SPF. At night I still use the Recovery for a thicker moisturizer.

I must admit to being pleasantly surprised after using this for a few days. My skin does appear more moisturized and my complexion is more even (I tend to be splotchy). To those who have said it pills up under foundation: try putting a primer over it; that seems to work. I use MAC's Prep+Prime SPF 50 over it and before I put on my foundation and it solves that problem.

Try It- You'll Like It!
After using the product for a month, I am pleased to report that my skin is vastly improved. I no longer have oily areas, have not broken out even once since I started using it, and my pores are actually much smaller. How can that be? I have no idea. I'm just very pleased! It also helped with lines (a.k.a. wrinkles) that were becoming prominent in my middle age. This is the ONLY moisturizer I have ever been able to use without complications: rashes; breakouts; allergies; red eyes; etc. It is effective without being heavy, and somehow calms the entire complexion. Don't like it
This product is not good enough for my dry skin, and I am not very dry. One container lasted only 2 weeks for me. I like the Skin Recovery Super Antioxidant way more, I wake up in the morning with a silky skin. The 2nd reason I don't like this product is the packaging. Good for Oily Skin too!
I have very oily skin and was nervous about trying Resist for fear it would be too heavy. I love it. I have been applying it both at night and under my sunscreen in the day. I am usually a sceptic, but I swear my skin tone and texture has improved with just one week's use.

I had high hopes for this, but when I tried to put foundation on over it, the foundation balled up and came right off! I wear makeup every day...The directions indicate that it can be worn under makeup, but not if the makeup comes right off! Maybe this is really best for nighttime use only. A very different product
I have hyper sensitive skin that surprisingly responded quite well to this product. I used an additional moisturizer at night. My skin responds very differently to this than other moisturizers, but in a good way. Less (almost no) redness anymore, much more even-toned, and adequate moisture with NO greasiness. Fresh, Healthy-Looking Skin
This moisturizer really does help my skin to look clear, fresh, and healthy, and it feels very soft. Strangely, though, it tends to make the area around my eyes feel tight, so I use another moisturizer over it on my eye area. This seems more like a treatment serum than a moisturizer for this reason. However - my skin does look wonderful and I will definitely continue to to use. I'll just make sure I have Hydrating Treatment Cream available.

Fresh, Healthy-Looking Skin
This moisturizer really does help my skin to look clear, fresh, and healthy, and it feels very soft. Strangely, though, it tends to make the area around my eyes feel tight, so I use another moisturizer over it on my eye area. This seems more like a treatment serum than a moisturizer for this reason. However - my skin does look wonderful and I will definitely continue to to use. I'll just make sure I have Hydrating Treatment Cream available.

Amazed
I have used every brand and many many different products over the past decades, but after merely ordering a sample and ONLY ONE application, I awoke to see an improvement unlike anything I have ever seen before. Dear Paula, Love your skin care products but just haven't found a moisturizer in your line that worked for me. Until, ta-da- RESIST. Wow, it is Everything I have been looking for and never expected to find for my "hard to please" face. Dry, oily, sensitive, you name it. Other products didn't "play" well with my makeup or when used at night left me greasy in the morning or itchy and burning after application. I'm suprised!
I love PC products and normally order the Moisture Gel for normal to oily skin, but during the winter months, my skin needs a bit more TCL, so I decided to give Resist a try...I was suprised at how well the moisturized has made my skin look and feel. Doesn't cause acne or blackheads!
At last! A moisturizer that my aging, acne-prone, FUSSY skin doesn't mind! Great Stuff!
I've been using this for a little over 2 weeks and have already seen a distinct and noticeable improvement in the texture of my skin. It also has a more even tone, and has helped reduce the redness I get due to Rosacea. It's a fantastic eye cream and immediately relieves under eye "crepeiness". If I were marooned on an island..
If I suddenly found myself marooned on a island and could only have one beauty product, this would be it. I started using this two weeks ago and I love it. It feels divine on the skin. Yes, Airtight container!
This product is lightweight giving the goodness of a moisturiser minus the greasiness. I swim 5 times a week and want a product that will prevent wrinkles. Just love this in an airtight container!

Barrier Repair is an accurate name!
I have eczema and my dermatologist has often emphasized that my main problem is a damaged barrier. Within three days of using this moisturizer on my extremely dry, sensitive skin, my skin is much more supple, smooth, not itchy, and looks younger! Normally my skin causes me so much pain but since using this product my skin is soothed. This is another outstanding product from PC, however, I would like to register my dissatisfaction with the marketing for Resist. Part of what draws me to PC is the very fact that this is not a major name brand making insultingly large claims. There's an idea in some economic circles that you can either be the best or the biggest. You cannot be both. And I think the evidence bears this out. I hope Paula maintains her commitment to be the best, and RESISTS the urge to be the biggest. Slow growth is sustainable. Fast growth is not.

Fantastic!!
I have been using this cream for about a week and my 55 year old skin looks more even and supple. For the first time since I was 17 years old I have switched from a foundation to a tinted moisturizer. I have gotten alot of compliments on my skin and at my age!! Heads Up.
Just tried the new Resist product. It works wonderfully on my face but due to my super sensitive neck area I woke up with a red, bumpy itchy neck. Ok, but not for dry skin
I have been using this at night since I received it about a week ago. I haven't noticed any difference in my skin's appearance (although I wasn't expecting much since I already use a night moisturizer with Retinol). About 5 minutes after applying, my skin feels tight and dry. I thought with all the oils in this, it would keep my skin feeling soft and dewy, but it's more like a serum than a moisturizer. I have to put another moisturizer over it. I will use what I have, but wouldn't buy again. Also, the pump doesn't work very well - I have to pump 5 or 6 times to get enough to cover my face and neck.
