I use this every other day and the 2% BHA liquid or lotion on the alternate days. This product gives me a smooth and natural glow to my skin. My skin is so baby soft after using it. Works great under the pure mineral sunscreen!!! Thank you Paula and her team!!!

The best AHA product for me!
I had ordered samples of this AHA treatment and forgot I had them. It was probably because I also ordered the 2% BHA Liquid and the 8% AHA gel and was using the AHA gel but not loving it. I was using the BHA in the AM and the AHA gel at night under the Resist Retinol serum but the gel never seemed to absorb into my skin. When I found these samples I tried it under the Retinol serum and overnight I could tell the difference in my skin. I have now been using this for a week under the Resist Retinol serum and my skin is soft, smooth and more even toned. I feel bad but I'm going to have to throw away the 8% AHA gel because I have no use for it. I am going to order the full size of this product instead. It's the best...gives great results with no irritation or breakouts! Awesome job Paula! Thank you!

Great product!
My skin has never been irritated at all. I love the feel of this product in conjunction with the other Resist line. The only problem I have had is the actual pump. I had one that completely stop working after a week and another that the tip of the dispenser fell off. A little frustrating, as I wasn't able to use the one bottle. Great, but could be better
This product literally changes your skin overnight, and I love how it has AHA and BHA. I just wish that it had a greater percentage of BHA in it to help people with oily skin. I find that AHAs and BHAs have a synergistic benefit when used together in one product. It would be amazing if this could have 7% AHA and 2%BHA in a lotion type formula that resembles the weightless body lotion in BHA 2%. But for now, this product is great, and I'm sure it took a lot of work to get that 0.5% BHA stable in a formulation with AHA, so great job Paula's Choice! Superior AHA Exfoliants
I'm almost 43 and have been using AHAs for about 20 years. this is among the best and I will continue to use it. in texture, color, and smell, it strongly resembles MD Formulations Vit-A-Plus Illuminating serum, which is much more expensive and occasionally burns. this never stings but I can tell it's working by the reduction of melasma on my cheeks and forehead. Can use it around my eyes wi no proble, and a little goes a long way. I use 1-2 pumps about 3 nights a week and I'm still on the bottle I bought a year ago. highhly recommended for those seeking a more even tone.

Great treatment
I use this at night, after cleansing, and before the Barrier Repair and it makes my skin glow. I don't have wrinkles but could use some glow and this provides it. Texture is great and the pump gives the right amount so nothing's wasted.

Smooth skin
Wow! This is a really nice AHA. I love how my skin feels after applying this - very smooth. I also like the pump - it delivers a consistent amount every time and there's no product wasted. I'm also not having any problems using it around my eyes.

A skincare MUST for me....
I have truly combination skin - oily/shiny in the T-zone and yet flaky everywhere else. This product is the ONLY one I've been able to find that completely eliminates the flakiness when used on a regular basis. I recently ran out and couldn't seem to find the time to reorder it. After about 2 weeks without it, my skin is forcing me to take the time to reorder it! Please send it FAST!

Curious to see long-term results; package problems
Within minutes of first applying this product, my skin felt amazing; smoother than it had in a long time. I believe that it evened out my skin tone a bit, but I was hoping for more dramatic anti-acne improvement (I'm mid-30s with some redness at the bottom of my cheeks & at the base of my nose, and have some acne in my mouth/chin area). Unfortunately the intenal pump mechanism broke with about half of the formula still in the bottle, so product retrieval became a big source of frustration. I'll give this one another shot because I'm curious as to how I'll respond to it longer-term. I just hope the pump stays in tact this time. Customer Care Response: Thank you for your review. Works good for me
I have been a PC customer for years & just started the Resist line a few months ago. The smoothing treatment seems to work good for me. I use it day and night (w/ the once weekly 10% treatment) and my skin feels soft. And I actually think it looks a little more even. The only issue I've had is the cap as well. The last bottle I opened the cap just wouldn't pump. Luckily, I still had my old bottle & I switched it out. Otherwise, I've been happy with the product. Love it!
I have moderate acne-prone skin, have been battling with acne for over 13 yrs. I've been using Paula's CLEAR acne system which has been controlling my acne well, but my skin was always looking dull. I had been looking for something to help make my skin more smooth, firm, but at the same time not to cause my skin to break out. The RESIST AHA 5% has been working very well for me! I use this in the morning, and in the evening I use the BHA 2% lotion which continues to help control my acne. I've been using this AHA for 2 weeks now and my skin is looking great! Thank you!

Results as promised
I can't say enough about this product- I use it every morning and use the 10% weekly AHA almost every night. My skin can take it. It was looking "thick" and this keeps it smooth without irritating it. Has worked better for me than Retin-A did, and at a better price point. I use most of the Resist line but have substituted the mattifying antioxidant serum. Wonderful products!!!

Good but not for me
This product goes on very nicely, and makes my skin so soft immediatley after applying. Unfortunately, I develop little pimples within a few hours of applying. It just isn't working for my skin. Smells & feels amazing
I have used Paula's 8% AHA gel for years now & have been very happy with it, but I just got some samples of this and am delighted with its texture and its scent! What a wonderful surprise, to find a fruity (to me, it smells lightly of bananas) scent in one of Paula's products. I knew it had to be accidental or at least incidental, as I know how strongly Paula feels about fragranced products, but I love it just the same.
My ideal world includes a separate fragranced line of Paula's Choice products--all exactly the same as they are now, but scented. :)

Great product, Needs better quality packaging
It has been a week since i started on the product. Skin seems smoother and firmer. However, the product came with the head damaged, I was unable to get the pumping action to work. They apologized about the problem and just sent me a new one! I don't have to go a day without my product!! It is rare to find good products to begin with. Nothing Short of Amazing!!
I use this morning and night and I use the weekly 2x a week. What a difference! I never write reviews but I had to write a review for all the PC products I am using now! I use the Resist Line and I love ALL of them! In just a few weeks my skin is like night and day. I can tell, but when you get compliments from other people... That pretty much sums it all up! I love her products because we don't have to pay for the fancy packaging or all the other silly frills. Just darn good product that works and is so affordable! I'm going to have to call CS though, because for some reason the lid to this popped off and it is hard to get the product out. But I am afraid to send it back because I don't want to be a single day without it! LOL I'll just tough it out and be more careful with the next one. All in all, my final comment would be The Resist Line is absolutely amazing!! You won't be sorry!

Resist Daily Smoothing
I love this product. It makes my skin feel soft and smooth. The problem is the Cap broke off and I could not get it to work so I have to lift the broken top off and turn upside down to get it out. Great for the summer!
This has absolutely wonderful ingredients and worked well for me to keep my skin clear and exfoliated in the summer if I used it about every other night before moisturizer. However, it is just too much for my dry, senstive skin to handle in the winter without becoming more irritated, despite the abundance of soothing ingredients. So I will keep it for when the weather gets warmer again!

Lovely product
This is just lovely! Takes very little for each application and feels very good. There is a tiny smell, I guess, but I am allergic to so many perfumes and I don't consider this "scented." I also have sensitive skin and it does not bother me, although I think it best to start out slowly, especially if you use a retinoid at night. (I use Retin-A at night). I love it--on my second bottle and about to order more.

This is honestly the best 5% AHA you could ever put on your skin! It is so very expensive, but an amazing product. I will order it again some time when I feel I can spend the money for it. (Paula has amazing products, but in this economy, not everyone can afford them.)

Got in me shape for my wedding!
Thanks Paula, for you have saved me hundreds of dollars in the past few months on dermatology treatments! I needed to get my skin clear for my wedding, and I used the whole resist line. Made me break out in a rash!
This product came as part of the Resist set. I was trying to match products with the Vivite line that I have used for a couple of years. While I absolutely love the cleanser and toner, this product made me break out in a rash. Along with the set I received a sample packet of the Resist Anti-Aging Clear Skin Hydrator and after a couple of days switched to that. My face cleared up immediately and looks great so I purchased the full sized Resist Anti-Aging Clear Skin Hydrator. Now I am stuck with this Smoothing Treatment and I am not sure if I can return just part of the set for a refund. I wish I had bought them all separately. Disappointed, will try something else
I love most of the Paula's Choice products that I've tried, but this one was a clunker for me. I don't like the way it makes my (facial) skin feel - seems to make my dry skin drier - and it smells TERRIBLE. It's not worth the trouble for me to return this, so I'm using it on my body (yes, really). The skin on my arms and legs seems to respond okay to this, and I just hold my breath until the smell dissipates. I know it's "fragrance free," but my guess is that the ingredients have an odor. Oddly, though I have dry skin on my face, it seems to respond MUCH better to BHA rather than AHA exfoliants, so I'll go back to using those. Customer Care Response: Thank you for your review. Amazing.
I love Paula's Choice products, but this is by far my favorite. I've had oily, angry, irritable skin that broke out all the time. With the BHA's I got the breakouts to go away, but the Daily Smoothing Treatment took it to a whole new level. My skin is so soft and smooth after only a couple of weeks. This is definitely my "stranded on a desert island" product!

VERY GOOD PRODUCT
This product has smoothed my 65-year-old skin and reduced the depth of the deep wrinkles between my brows and on either side of my mouth. I use it every other day. I love the Resist products and am now using many of them as my daily routine for the last year. I have really noticed a difference in my skin. Compared to the prices of other high-end anti-aging products, the cost of these is low because they last a long time.

I stuck with it...and I'm a believer!
I would like to amend my earlier post, "Too Much for My Skin." After consulting with Customer Care about my initial reaction to the Resist line, I took their advice, allowed my skin to calm down and gradually added products back into my regimen. I've used the products sparingly and my skin has acclimated very quickly. I cannot believe the change in the course of a week. Acne has cleared up, skin tone and clarity are significantly improved, texture is smooth and my fine lines are disappearing with each passing day. I am a believer, and would encourage anyone who finds the retinol a challenge at first to stick with it. I feel that these products are working below the surface of the skin to affect real change -- and I am very grateful to Customer Care for responding so quickly to my concerns. Their advice is paying off - and I haven't been this excited about skin care products based on real, visible results... ever. Thank you, PC.

Too much for my skin
I read Linda S.'s comments and felt a little better that I might not be alone - I have been red, itchy and very puffy and swollen under my eyes for several days after first using this; my skin seems "burned" -- but am waiting to hear back from Customer Service about whether a BHA might be better for my sensitive skin. The texture and absorption of all the Resist products I ordered are wonderful - and I'm not giving up hope that there's a formula that's right for me - but I think the amount of retinol in this, particularly when combined with other products in the line, may be too much for my skin. Not for Me
I love Paula's products and have used them for over ten years. Recently,a woman at the grocery store told me that my skin looked great and I am 59 years old. I ordered this product as part of the Resist set. After using three times, my skin broke out in a red, itchy rash that has lasted three days. I hope it clears up soon. This product works good, but I can only use it a couple times a week, and I cannot use it on my nose area. Makes it red, peeling and irritated. I contacted Paula's customer service and they were very helpful in finding a solution for this issue.

really does anti-age
I have very sensitive skin and used this about once a week for a few months. I recently had a whole class room of students guess I was 15 years younger! WOW!
So, since it's titled Daily Treatment, I bumped my usage up. My face became bumpy and red and I got whiteheads (I've never had whiteheads before) and BOILS!
Since I stopped using this treatment my face has returned to normal + a few scars.
I don't know if I will risk the breakout again.

Pleasant Surprise!
I had my doubts that anything that added moisture could also be any kind of exfoliant. I was so wrong! This product is remarkable.
I use it immediately after using the Resist cleanser, and my skin feels so smooth and soft, and looks better than it has in a long time.
I had been using a product line that uses no capital letters, if you know which one I mean, and the Resist line is so superior there are no words.
The Daily Smoothing Treatment will probably not add enough moisture if your skin is very dry. In summer, this alone is enough for me. In winter, I follow up with Resist Barrier moisturizer, and it's perfect.
I hope these products never change or stop being made. I'm a fan for life, because they deserve that devotion.

Resist 5% AHA
Very simple: Put this on in the evening before bed, wake up to a peach-perfect complexion. A little pricey, but worth it to me (and I'm pretty cheap).

This works well. But a heads up, it will fluoresce under black light. A little detail I found out at an evening gathering at my home. I wish I could post a picture, because it was awesome. Clear in regular light, creepy vampire green with a UV.

This product performed up to my expectation. I wanted a product to gently remove that very thin layer we get that makes our face look dull. After just one application the surface of my skin was smoother and shinier in a natural way. I use it twice a week to freshen up my skin's surface. I will continue to use this product.

This review applies to many of the products in this line. I really like them, they don't irritate my middle-aged, acne prone skin. I have my husband using this product and wow! what a difference. My only complaint (and my husband even noticed)is that it the bottles are so opaque that you don't know when you are about to run out. So, we have run out of some products without reordering. Red mark gone!
I happen to love the smell of this product, which is lightly scented with melon extract, there for its antioxidant effect. It is the same scent as the BHA body lotion, disappates quickly and it is very subtle. My big success using this formula is that a red mark on my cheek that has been there for 25 years has almost disapeared after a month of using this and the toner. I am a convert to this product and love everything about it.

exfoliation, glow
This product has improved my skin's texture & tone & brought back some youthful glow :D
It does tingle in sensitive area around nose. I apply RESIST serum over it and that helps. I only use this at night.
The scent is okay by me, I'm sensitive to solvents, chemicals & synthetic fragrance.
I believe this is preferable to using baking soda&cleanser or a washcloth for exfoliation.

I have rosacea plus excema and sensitive, reactive skin. I cant believe the results after one night using this product!!I am in the middle of a breakout and my skin is visiably improved this morn. calm and hydrated. I have been using Paula's products for a long time now and love them. Only thing I ever found that worked on my skin. i needed a lighter serum type daily AHA to replace my old Avon AHA standby that got D/C last year. i tried this and it works even better than my old one. this one doesn't enhance my oil production, so that's a big plus! i use it w/that amazing RESIST toner (you should all try that, too!), and am very pleased w/results. thanks for this product!

Works great on my sensitive skin!
I was really excited about this product due to the lower levels of AHA. I have sensitive skin with mild rosacea and it didn't irritate it at all. I was in shock when I woke up after the first night of using it and my skin already looked more even and healthy. This is a must have for every woman. Great Job Paula & Team! The best chemical exfoliant I've used. I am returning my Clinique Turnaround Cream, as it was ineffective at best. My face and neck have never felt so smooth! Noticable improvement after first night's use. My skin is combo, with a lot of fine lines. In less than a week, I can see a difference.

Gentle yet Effective
I started with the weekly treatment and have been using this daily with great results for a week. I stopped doing salon glycolic peels a couple of years ago because my skin seemed to be fighting back from the strength of the peels, taking longer and longer to bounce back each time...and my bank account hated the cost. The results thus far from two tx's with the weekly application and daily applications of this are accomplishing what one, very expensive and traumatic (to my skin) salon peel would do.

I do like how this product goes on silky smooth, but it is most definitely NOT unscented. The jury is still out on whether I am returning it. Absolutely amazing
This product is perfect for sensitive skin like mine. I do not use 10% version (too strong for me). But I apply this both in the morning and at night, after applying it only at night for 2 weeks to get used to the product. It applies very well under makeup. I have been using this for over a month now, and my skin looks radiant now. I had a red spot which was about an inch long and half an inch wide has almost diminished!

Excellent, even for my sensitive skin!
I confess, I was sure I'd break out when I tried this, but have been using it for almost a month now with consistently fabulous results. I put it on at night after cleansing and my skin is smoother, pores smaller, adult zits healed, or at least better, in the morning. I have very sensitive "older" skin that still breaks out. This really is a great product for retexturing and smoothing skin!

OMG! I absolutely love this product. I started with the weekly treatment and got a sample of this. While I liked the weekly treatment, this daily treatment works even better for me. Works even with eczema
I was so skeptical. I have acne and eczema and everything seems to make my skin worse, not better. But this product works! I find my skin less red and less prone to break out. I use only one pump-ful, not two, and put some on the back of my hands, then face. I was scared to even try it. Love the new AHAs
My skin has always needed a lot of exfoliation to feel soft and look smooth. Now in my mid-40s, I prefer chemical exfoliation to mechanical because it just seems gentler overall. This new treatment is so much nicer to use than 8% gel. It goes on and absorbs/dries quicker, and my skin feels much nicer once it has dried compared to the old gel formulation. (and I wish the 10% AHA was deliverd in the same vehicle as the 5%). I feel like even after a week my skin looks 'brighter', but I didn't use a control or independant evaluation - just my feeling. I'm thinking of giving bottles to my friends for the holidays. Thanks!

Paula, I love your skincare! It just keeps getting better and I have been using it since 1998! This lotion is light, smells wonderful and works! I live in the Midwest and find that in the fall/winter my skin gets drier. This lotion smooths and feels light yet hydrating. I also ordered the 10% liquid for "special" treatment nights. Sunburn Alert: This product contains an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that may increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn. Use a sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week afterwards.
How should I alternate using RESIST Daily Smoothing Treatment with RESIST Weekly Resurfacing Treatment?
RESIST Weekly Resurfacing Treatment is recommended for use at night, at least once but up to 4 or 5 times per week depending on how your skin responds. Since we do not advise using other exfoliants at the same time as RESIST Weekly Resurfacing Treatment, you can apply RESIST Daily Smoothing Treatment as part of your morning skin-care routine or on night(s) you do not apply the RESIST Weekly Resurfacing Treatment. In the morning, if desired, you can apply RESIST Daily Smoothing Treatment after cleansing and toning or you can limit use of the Daily Smoothing Treatment to nighttime (this is best for first-time users). For daytime, follow with a serum and/or moisturizer or foundation rated SPF 15 or greater.
How does the RESIST Daily Smoothing Treatment differ from the 8% Alpha Hydroxy Acid Gel?
While both of these products are AHA exfoliants, the texture and overall formulas differ. The RESIST Daily Smoothing Treatment is an advanced AHA lotion that contains 5% glycolic acid and numerous antiaging ingredients designed to improve wrinkles. The 8% AHA Gel contains 8% glycolic acid formulated in a silky gel base with soothing agents and antioxidants. Both are excellent products but RESIST Daily Smoothing Treatment offers additional benefits that go beyond what our 8% AHA Gel does, especially if wrinkles are a chief concern.
Can I use RESIST Daily Smoothing Treatment with one of the RESIST skin lighteners?
Yes, but not at the same time unless they are applied to separate areas of your face. This is because both of our RESIST skin lighteners contain an exfoliant (the Lotion has glycolic acid and the Gel has salicylic acid). If you're using one of our RESIST skin lighteners, you may apply it in the morning or on the nights you do not apply the RESIST Daily Smoothing Treatment or apply the skin lightener only to discolorations and apply RESIST Daily Smoothing Treatment over the rest of your face.
Can I use RESIST Daily Smoothing Treatment at the same time as one of Paula's Choice BHA products?
Yes, but ultimately it is not necessary to use an AHA and BHA exfoliant at the same time. Exfoliation is a balancing act that requires not tipping the scale so the potential for irritation outweighs the benefits. Using multiple exfoliants at the same time increases the likelihood of irritation and doesn't necessarily provide greater benefits. If you'd like to use a BHA product and RESIST Daily Smoothing Treatment, we recommend applying one in the morning and the other in the evening. Which one you apply when is a mater of personal preference.
Is RESIST Daily Smoothing Treatment recommended for use around the eyes?
Yes, but only up to the orbital bone area (the bony ridge that stops just before the immediate undereye area). Do not apply RESIST Daily Smoothing Treatment to the eyelid or underbrow area.
