Loves It!
I waited a few months to rate this product because I wanted to see how my skin would react over time; I must say I do love it! I have tried Differin several times in the past, only to discontinue use because of severe irritation (hello, flake goatee!). I like retinol because I get the results I want from the prescriptions, without the irritation. I noticed a reduction in pore size, softening of the ultra fine lines on my forehead, and plushness to my skin. I think I love this product so much because I use it consistently and I have REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS of this OTC cosmetic product. I noticed a softness to my skin right away, but the real changes took several months to become apparent. I did have an initial break out when I first started to use the product, however this is common with Differin and Retin-A, as well, so I just stuck with it anyway. I used a PC BHA product to help with the break out. Hang in there ladies, it's worth it!

Love the silkiness of this serum
I've been trying Paula's serums to find the right one for me. The skin balancing serum was not moisturizing enough for me. The skin recovery was a little too heavy in my t zone. This one is wonderfully silky and moisturizes well. I'm so disappointed that each time I applied it at night, I developed a painful clogged pore right at the lip line, and a deep cystic painful acne blemish on my chin the next time. I don't understand why, but evidently there is some conflict between my skin type and the ingredients in this. I will continue to try Paula's Choice, because I do think she makes wonderful products and I do want to convert to her entire line if I can find the right products for me.

Too greasy
I'm probably the only one that dislikes this stuff. I find this serum to be way too greasy. I have combination skin and the serum gave me white heads on my forehead and under my eyes. Given Resist several tries
I've tried several resist products because the claims are so phenomenal and because I have always been a huge fan of all things Paula( books; radio show; blog). Alas, I had some problems with irritation from other resist products but tried this serum. Wonderful consistency and I liked the packaging. Unfortunately, even though I use it sparingly and not every night, it's left me with red skin, to the point that people have been commenting on it. I'm going back to the skin recovery line that works well. I used to always get compliments on my skin, but not since using this serum. Hopefully, my skin will recover once I stop using Resist products. I wonder why it's so irritating? Customer Care Response: Thank you for the review. Not for me...
First, I have sensitive skin and found it to be very gentle with no irritation problems. I used this for a little over 3 weeks and do not feel this is as potent as the product I have been using for the last five years. Although I did not notice any difference in my skin, my husband did! He said I should go BACK to my previous retinol product. When I asked him why he said my skin did not have that pretty glow anymore... My All Time Favorite Serum
I wrote a review when I first received this. I just wanted to reiterate the fact that this is the best non-Rx retinol serum ever! I am just starting on my 3rd bottle. I had good skin for the most part, but had loved the sun a little too much. I absolutely can't believe the change in my fine lines and wrinkles, as well as my skin's texure. Dark spots are fading too. The biggest surprise is my crepey, lined neck is on the way to rejuvenation too! I looked younger than my age of 53 before, but now can easily pass for a young 40 per my friends and acquaintances. A big thanks, Paula !

problems with crepey skin under eye
I used this product every night for a month and now have crepey skin directly below my eyes. About 3 months ago, prior to use, my friend (who does not compliment normally) complimented my great skin - I had been using the Resist Anti Aging Clear Skin Hydrator for a month, and knew that product helped. After the month of Intensive Wrinkle Repair Serum, I woke up looking like I had been crying for a week. Horrible under wrinkly skin. I read one other review with a similar problem and several articles online about Retin A and retinol causing this problem. But your product says 'perfect for use around the eyes'. Good but it's no Retin-A
This is a nice product, but it's no Retin-A. I much prefer my prescribed Ziana or generic tretinoin, as they produce a more immediate beneficial effect on my skin. Also, prescribed Retin-A is about ten times as strong as over-the-counter retinol, so the anti-aging benefit from prescriptions is really magnified. Customer Care Response: Thank you for your review. waiting for summer
I'm a long-time P.Choice customer and love her products. I can't say the same for this product. I had many whiteheads on my chin and red areas on my face. I'd hoped to see the results other women experienced, but didn't. I'm waiting for summer, when my face gets oiler,to see if it's not as harsh on my skin. Great Formula, No Irritation
I've been using this nightly for a week, so it's too early to say whether it will have a significant effect on my skin; however, I have had no irritation and I like the silky, quick-absorbing formula. I am not new to retinol and have used the barrier repair cream and Alpha Hydrox Retinol ResQ recently. I expect to be able to use this with the Resist Clear Skin Cream instead of e Barrier Repair cream.

Sad and Disappointed
Sad that this product did nothing for my complexion. I wanted so much to love it because my mom does and thinks it is one of the best products out there. To say the least I am disappointed, I have experienced more of a break out of acne then before. Looks like my mom will be getting an extra bottle - just did not work for me. Not for me
When I received it, I just couldn't wait to try it and it's the first time I order items from Paula's Choice after reading her book. After applying for two days, I found there were some red patches appeared on my skin and it never happened like this before. My skin seldom has condition like but only feel dry sometimes. Good Product, Needs to Work On Its Packaging
I really like this product. It does help to soften and smooth the skin more than a lot of other rentinols I've used. I don't like the packaing however, but I understand it's concept. Mine leaks. I do have to pack it a certain way when I travel with it but even at home, I get a build-up of product around the inner silver core so I know I'm wasting some product. Wanted to love it but. . .
I think my skin is just too sensitive with this (or maybe it's too harsh in combination with my prescription retinol product). I've tried it a bunch of times (alternating it with my atralin,using it in the morning) but I it invariably causes red hive-like blotches. Gentle but not powerful enough
Although this product has a nice texture and is very gentle, it is also not potent enough to cause any major improvements. For example, it does not give me a glow that other antioxidant serums give. In fact, I do not notice any difference in my skin at all. I agree that it is perfect to use under makeup and does somewhat conceal the flakes. Great product!
I really like this retinol serum. I have combination sensitive skin that is oily in the nose/chin/forehead and dry everywhere else. I used to get acne on my jawline and chin, but that cleared up after I started using Paula's 2% BHA liquid. This serum hasn't caused any acne flare-ups. It is silky and glides on easily. It hasn't irritated my skin and doesn't irritate my eyes. My skin feels moisturized and feels soft when I wake up in the morning. I haven't seen a drastic reduction in fine lines, but I also haven't seen any fine lines getting worse or new fine lines appearing.

Worth persisting with
I too waited a few months before reviewing. I used it every second night, alternating with the mattifying super antioxidant concentrate. I found it made me break out. I started using 1/2 a pump and after 3 or 4 weeks the breakouts were reduced to occasional. I stopped using it while travelling, but next time I will use it every night and wait out the breakouts. the best product ever
Amazing product, astonished by the result. No kidding, my face appears to be clear, calm, even, and younger than ever, i am now 35, and my skin looks even better than my 25 year old co-workers. Paula's creams have transformed my life, my confidence level, and my happiness. Disappointed..
Let me start by saying that this is the first Paula's product that I'm disappointed with and I've been using Paula's products for a while and been really happy so far with everything that I've tried. It caused breakouts on my forehead that I haven't had since I've switched to Paula's products and it also caused serious irritation around my eyes and mouth. I stopped using it for a couple of weeks to let irritation/breakouts to heal and then resumed hoping that my skin will adapt to higher amounts of retinol, but breakouts and irritation are back now. I guess it's just not for everyone. I'm going to stick with Skin Balancing Serum w/Retinol, which is great product and works really well for myself. Customer Care Response: Thank you for your review. Best Serum Out There
I was looking for a serum to add to my skin care routine and this is it. I have been using around my eyes and have noticed improvement. Great texture, doesn't make my skin break out which can be a problem for me. I will be ordering more and have recommended my mother start using it!

Worth a Try
I waited a few months before posting a review. It was hard for me to rate this, because based on the forumla, the rating should be perfect. However, my skin and the other cosmetics I use affect how this ultimately affects my skin, and I'm not sure if that should be included in the rating. I think this is a great serum. It's texture is very silky, almost greasy-like, but it's for nighttime use, so that's not a concern for me. The packaging is great and it dispenses easily in small amounts. I already use Retin A at night and salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide during the day. That's a lot of products for potential irritation. Once I added the retinol serum it did cause flaking around my chin (but only chin). I use it every other or third day and mix it with the Resist Hydrator. I haven't given up on it because I think it really does help with fading of my post breakout marks. But ultimately, my choice is to stick with Retin A for every day use, so I guess this serum will last me a very long time. I also use it on my neck every other day. Overall, I think it's worth a try. But if you're using lots of other skin products with active ingredients, be prepared for potential flakiness or irritation. Customer Care Response: Thank you for your review. not for me
I was very excited to see the intent and the initial positive reviews of this product. I was hoping that it truly would make a positive change to my skin. I have also been patient and kept using the product for at least 3 weeks now, but unfortunately I have not seen anything change. In fact, sadly, I noticed a couple of dry spots near my eye/cheek bone. This is pretty strange, because I have never had a dry or rough spot reaction to any other product I have used in the past. Fabulous results
I decided to try the "Resist" line even though I was very happy with the PC products I was using. Now I have some new favorites! I love this serum and it has made my skin look fabulous since I began to use it. I do have rosacea and post-menopausal skin and I find this leaves my skin soft and smoother than before. My husband tells me what beautiful skin I have and complete strangers have told me that I have a beautiful complexion, which is a testimonial to how well Paula's products work! Back in my teenage years, I was a big tanner, so I have certainly done some damage - this has made such a difference. The one thing I did notice when I started using this, was that if I used it on my eyes, they burned and itched. So now I use this on my face and the "super antioxidant concentrate serum" on my eyes - that works well for me. Paula's Choice is definitely MY choice

Science Pays Off
Sensitive skin that breaks out. At age 54 I thought those days would be long gone. This product does what it says. I can see a marked difference every time I use this product. Relaxed l wrinkles, better skin tone and a fresh soft look to my skin. I have acne, sensitive, oil skin. I have the acne scars to prove the trouble I've had. This product does not break out my skin. I use this product plus the 10% AHA product and the 5% BHA product (according to their directions) and the Retin A prescribed by my doctor. For the FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE my face is acne free. When I stop using this combination the acne returns. If you have sensitive skin and are hesitant to try or us this product consider combining with other products. Always use the smallest amount to start and consider using every other day if needed. Sometimes skin take a bit of time to adjust to a product. The AHA and BHA used twice a week along with my presecription Retin A leave my skin clean, soft and rejuvinated. Acne free. This product is the icing on the cake. Thank you Paula! Paula's education in chemistry paid off. Science is something you can count on.

Love it - but question on package
This Serum works very well on my medium oily skin. I use it at night and my skin looks great in the morning. My only question is the pump bottle - I want to take the serum o vacation with me but can't figure out how to close the pump without wasting some serum.. what's the best way to do this? Great product, but not for me
I have to resubmit my review. This is a great product but not for me. I love that it's fragrance-free, and it really works. However, I started getting quite a few whiteheads after I started using this product. I couldn't really figure out why this was happening, until I read some other reviews and noticed others complained this caused whiteheads. Perhaps because I only had so few, I couldn't put two and two together. It's sad this didn't work out for me, because it is a great product that works. Good, but Not for Me
I believe this product does what it claims to do, and it seems to be a very elegant formula. Unfortunately, my skin seemed to react with reddened blotchy areas. So far so good...
I've been a long-time fan of Paula's advice and skincare products. This serum has a lovely consistency and is packed with goodness for the skin. For me, it's one of those products that I diligently apply every night before bed with the hope that it will prevent premature aging. I don't see a big difference, but I also have not seen noticeable aging of my skin since I started using Paula's products 8-9 years ago. I my books, that's a good sign. The packaging of this product is very cool looking, but the function is a bit frustrating. There isn't room for my finger under the spout when I depress the pump to get product out. I predict this will start to cause product spillage when there is less product and the pump needs to be pressed all the way down. A little irritating on an otherwise nice product - especially since it's a newly developed product and packaging. I'm surprised this design flaw was not noticed before launch. FYI, I don't have large or thick fingers in the least. Customer Care Response: Thank you for your review. not for me
I think this may be causing some breakouts, especially on my forehead. The consistency of this product is like a primer, because of all the 'cones' it contains, which is probably the culprit behind my breakouts. I feel like it is smothering my pores. did not work for me
I'm beginning to accept the fact that the Resist products simply do not suit my skin. This serum seems to be too oily for me -- I can't get it to sink in and leave a silky feeling. My skin is left shiny, and I have tried playing with the amount I apply, order of products etc. To be fair, I seem to be having issues with all the Resist products I have tried, so perhaps it's just not suitable for all skin types. I would say that for customers whose skin is not dry/very dry, perhaps a sample is the way to go. I am disappointed though, because the products seem to be so well formulated -- but if they don't make your skin look OK when you apply them, it's just not practicable to stick with it. WOW!!!
LOVE this product! Still on my first bottle but have already ordered my backup just to make sure I don't lose one day without it. I get up each morning and look in the mirror (my 10x) and I can see the creases getting softer and smaller around my mouth, and around my eyes, the fine lines are disappearing slowly but surely. Was thinking about some fillers until I tried this, but now I don't need them! I have had no problems and wonder at some of the comments, this is for night time use and I just have a feeling some are trying to use in the day time. I LOVE this! and will continue to use this so please don't stop making it.

Resist Intensive Wrinkle Repair Retinol Serum
For Reference: My skin is Normal/Dry Sensitive. Winter-my skin is dry/sensitive. (I live in the Northeast). I am over 45. Post menopause. (yes I think this all makes a difference.)I have used Paula's Choice for approimently 8-10 years. Positive: I find this serum to be silky, unsented and adds a bit glow to the skin which I assume comes from the silicone ingredient Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethiconol (silicone slip agents/suspending agents). MOST important it DOES NOT cause irritation or any reactions to my sensitive skin. Negative: I have been using the Resist Retinol Serum since receiving it around January 18. The first week I used the serum every other day in case of irritation. Since I had no irritation, I then began using every day unless I used a AHA/BHA. I have seen NO difference in my skins texture or wrinkles. I use this serum in conjunction with Paula's Moisture boost line and occasionally with AHA/BHA products. The serum can be a tad drying. I do apply a moisturiser after the serum. I am still curious about what percentage of Retinol is in this product. Although I have asked, I was told Paula's Choice does not reveal this information. I also was told the results of this product vary according to what other products are used with the serum. Also the longer this serum is used the better the results. It is not known whether this meant months or years.?. I really must question whether my face was not irritated because of the wonderful ingredients or because the Retinol percentage is Very Low? Therefor, I am not sure I will repurchase at $30. I think I need more convincing proof that this product actually works for my skin. Customer Care Response: Thank you for your review. Definitely not for all skin types
I have sensitive oily combination skin with dry patches on the the cheeks. I'm at my wits end with this serum because it sets to an irremovable slick oily shine on the T-zone. It's as if I put cooking oil on my face. With a Paula's choice shine stopper, the very noticeable oily layer comes back in an hour, putting less on doesn't help (you'ld only need half a pump or one drop to cover the whole face) and after a day or two after putting using this, the T-zone would always break out in pimples. All other PC products have stopped pimples completely but this is the first exception. In the end I'm back to the very wonderful but expensive Skin Balancing Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum w/ Retinol which is much better as it leaves no thick layer of grease and really is suitable for oily skin. so wanted to ...but

The best retinol product for oily skin
I'm so glad Paula made this product. While there are some affordable retinol products for dry skin, there aren't really any viable options for oily skin. I've been using this product for three weeks now. I use two pumps for my whole face every night. I've noticed some of my freckles fading and my blackheads on my nose are almost gone too. I will definitley repurchase this product. I also love that this, like all Paula's Choice products, is fragrance free.

I've been using this since the first of the year, and I really wish I'd taken a close-up photo of my skin. I've seen dramatic improvements. Feels Good That's About It
I do like this product very much, but only because it feels good. I am an avid Retin A user so no skin problems with this product for me. The only thing is that my skin looks the same as it did before I started using intensive wrinkle repair. I suppose because I have always used Retin A prescription strength. There is really no need for me to spend the added money for a product I get for much cheaper since I use the generic prescription Retin A. So I won't be purchasing this again. Love at first try
I have never written a review about anything before but I felt compelled to write one for this amazing product. For years I have been looking for the perfect foundation for may aging skin (I'm 53) that doesn't settle in the creases around my eyes. Resist intensive Wrinkle-Repair reduced the lines around my eyes so most foundations go on flawlessly. Paula, keep up the wonderful work you do. Oh, and the packaging....genius.

skin looks great!
my skin looks great and more even toned after using this once a night for two months along with PC's BHA 2% liquid exfoliant. at first i noticed some flaking but this quickly went away after my skin became used to it. i am very satisfied and will continue to use this serum for as long as my skin tolerates well with it. please don't discontine this product! as it is very affordable and does the job very well!

I'm very disappointed avout that serum! It's absolutely full of silicons! I'm 43 years old and this product has no effect at all on my skin. Neither on wrinkles, nor on radiance of the skin! zero ! Amazing!
I've been using the new Resist Retinol serum for 3 weeks now, and cannot believe my skin. I actually noticed a difference in a few days but thought it must be my imagination....it's not! My face is firmer, wrinkles seem less so (but at 55 don't expec them to disappear, and so soft. I love this stuff, use it every night under the Barrier repair. I'm giving this a rating of three because it has irritated my skin. Maybe I'm not using it correctly, but my skin has been red and flakey around my mouth and nose. The rest of my face has been fine and has even improved some. I am going to try using it twice a week and see if things improve. Customer Care Response: Thank you for your review. Best anti-aging serum
I love this serum. Unlike the skin balancing serum, this doesn't roll up. My skin glows and my acne marks are slowly fading. My skin is also softer. I'm using this for my under-eye wrinkles.

Really liking it!
I have only had this for about a week or so but I am really liking it so far! What I absolutely love is the consistency of the product! It is so smooth....like silk! I have the Resist antioxidant serum and that consistency bothers me because it feels sticky for a long time. So far with this new serum my skin does look very smooth and seems a bit better but I think I will know better after a month or two. So far.....I definitely will be re-ordering this!

Great product when used w/out exfoliants
This product has reduced the appearance of some fairly deep lines on my forehead after about 8 weeks of use. Oddly, the finer lines around my eyes have experienced no change. I did notice, in the beginning, that if I used both this product and my BHA gel at night I would wake up with itchy skin in the morning. However, using this product alone at night and switching the BHA to the morning has resolved that issue. Overall, I am very happy with this product.

Very Satisfied Customer
I started using this retinol product two weeks ago when I had to take care of several sick kids at home. I was under lots of stress and was quite lack of sleep. Yet this serum kept my skin in check. I like its texture and usually I have bad reaction to retinol product but not to this serum. I just have better skin using it. I did start to have a little bit of itch on my face after a week of using it even though there was no redness whatsoever. I wonder if it's normal. Anyways, so far so good and I hope I am getting the benefit of retinol at last.

I am very pleased with this product. In the past, I ruined my skin barrier with tiny amounts of Retin-A. My skin is oily and super sensitive. This product is very tolerable. After 4 weeks I was able to use it every night with minimal irritation. I find it very soothing to the point that I look forward to putting it on my skin at night! I wake up most mornings with glowing skin, though the glow doesn't last too long -- but that's better than before, so I'll take it! The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that I would like to see the packaging changed. I cannot tell if the product is about to run out. Thank you Paula! This is a great product. I am 29 and starting to see some fine lines that don't quite bounce right back. I've been using this for about a month now, and do notice a difference around my eyes and mouth. Definitely use with moistureizer, but not at all irritating to my skin!

blotchy/itchy skin
Loved this product and the results the first two days and then the itching and blotchiness started. Haven't used it in two days and the itching stopped. Not What I Expected...
I have used Paula's skin care for years, and now use the entire Resist line, which I love. That is why I decided to try this product. I use it every second or third night before my Resist moisturizer. I have developed flaky skin near the corners of my mouth enen though I keep the product away from the lip area. Also my cheeks are red. It looks like I hsve blush on the apples of my cheeks, an effect I never had before! I think I will return to using the tube of Resist Antioxident Concentrate Serum that I have been using on the nights i didn't use this product. I did like the design of the packaging. Give it a little time and behold the magic...
I am very impressed with the results I am seeing from RESIST Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum. Apparently retinol is not a first-line treatment for rosacea, but after seeing minimal results from virtually every dermatological treatment I thought to give this one a try... well, after four weeks of nightly application (I use retinol-free RESIST Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum in the morning) my redness looks calmer and my skin's natural defenses seem strengthened! During the first week of treatment I noticed a very slight itching sensation and a few breakouts, but my skin must have been adjusting to the retinol because by week two those side effects subsided and by week three I really started to notice an overall improved skin tone. Perhaps I was using too much product at first (naturally I wanted to saturate my skin with all those good ingredients!) as trial and error have revealed that two pumps worth of this serum is more than enough to cover my entire face (including the eye area) and throat. I spread the serum evenly between my fingertips and gently pat it onto my skin, starting first with the drier areas and finishing with the t-zone. I much prefer the airtight pump packaging of this serum to the squeeze tubes used to house Paula's other serums as the airless pump lends to more controlled application and less waste. Many thanks to Paula's Choice for unleashing yet another skincare powerhouse... perhaps the best one yet!

Good Product, But Can Cause Irritation.
Loved the texture of this product,and the way it felt on my skin. However, I did not love how it made me look like I had a serious sunburn. After two days of using this, my skin started flaking and became super sensitive. I read that this is common with retinol, and you should try using it twice a week until the skin adjusts. I really felt this information should be on the site. I'm going to try reducing my use and hope my skin gets used to it so I can actually use the product. REALLY wanted to love this!
The package is awesome and so easy to use! The serum feels like silk when applied. The first morning I noticed my eyelids were swollen and itchy even though I didn't put any serum on the eyelids, just under the eyes. After using this product for a week (every other night) I can't use it. The area around my mouth is all red and flaky. My top of my cheeks actually burned when I used my normal RESIST products this evening. I normally burn and don't tan, so perhaps my skin is too sensitive for this product. Bummer. Product that works as claimed.
I am 24, have combination but really clear skin with no blemishes and little visible pigmentation and even with such good skin I have noticed a slight difference. Have used retina-A unsuccessfully with peeling and inability to continue with it for a prolonged period. This is the first product with a substantial amount of retinol where I haven't suffered from typical side affects. A Very smooth serum, easily absorbed silky feel. One pump is more than enough for face and neck. Use it nightly. Using it as a preventative rather than trying to fight skin damage once it's there. Hopefully using these products shows in 10 years time!

Exactly what my face has been wanting...
I am AMAZED at this product and what it has done to my oil-factory, huge-pored, acne-prone, 52-year-old skin! My pores are unbelievably smaller, I haven't had acne since the second day using it, my 16 hour foundation stays in place ALL DAY (I don't even need Shine Stopper anymore, which I loved-- might need it again in summer, but I was using it all winter until now), I have no dry patches, and, oh, my wrinkles are almost history! I do have the occasional blackhead, but I was dealing with quite a bit daily before this. A few months before this product came out, a friend and I were lamenting about the deep creases vertical creases between our brows and the parenthesis around the mouth creases. We moaned that we were finally getting old. She's going to die when she sees me next-- they are almost gone! The little wrinkles at the edge of my eyes are completely gone. But you know, the wrinkles never gave me a big problem-- the oil on my face giving me acne, huge pores, blackheads, and make-up that never lasted half a workday was a constant problem and embarrassment all my adult life. I am so thankful to Paula and her team for this product. Apparently it's exactly what my face has been crying for. Just a little extra-- when this arrived in the mail, I was sick and had to stay home for 2 weeks. My first day out again, everyone knew I'd been sick, I still sounded pretty bad, but I looked YEARS younger! Follow directions!
I began using the product and noticed an improvement in clarity and tone almost immediately. I decided to DOUSE my face night after night with it. (The directions say to "smooth a few drops onto skin before or after moisturizing.") I not only used too much each night, but I also failed to moisturize. After the 10th night, I awoke to red blotches and inflamed skin. I contacted PC and, as usual, received excellent customer service. They advised me to stop use and they also sent samples of PC products to help calm my skin. Everything has returned to normal and I will continue to use the product (as per the directions!) Amazing Stuff!
This is truly an amazing product that does everything the ad claims it does! Not for sensitive or oily skin types, this works wonders on normal/dry skin and small wrinkles literally disappear overnight. I use a lighted magnifying mirror when applying makeup and I no longer see fine lines nor wrinkles around my eyes. I'm also using this on the tiny lines around my lips, and will let you know how that works.

still waiting for the happy moment
I was so happy when Paula came out with this new serum, and I was prepared to love it, like most of the other products I have and use daily. First, I used it around the eye area, as it said on the bottle, but after only three days the skin around my eyes looked downright scary, like wrinkled parchment. I immediately stopped using it in the eye area and the skin kind of bounced back after 4-5 days. Now I just use it on the rest of my face, every night, and I have no dry or flaking skin anywhere - but I also have to say that I don't see ANY change in the look of my skin. I apply Paula's moisturizing gel on top of it (as recommended by customer service) - but I can't see any improvement. I will keep using it until the bottle is empty and then probably go back to my Tretinoin....

Doesn't work for me
I adore the bottle and and how it functions! Twist and pump! However the serum left my face sore and red in areas. I think I need to try a different one without the retinol. Not for oily skin
Made my face an oily mess. It's still winter and I didn't even use any moisturizer. I can only imagine when used during summer. I find it to be kinda similar to the resist serum in terms of texture. I've been using Paula's Choice off and on since it launched. This product is AMAZING. I have combo/dry skin and I can use this product without irritation. The feel is amazing. I noticed a real difference after one night and after a week the fine lines over my top lip were just gone! This is the most amazing thing I have ever used on my skin, EVER! I thought that the RESIST AHA products were, but no no... I saw results with this in HOURS. Yes. I noticed my skin looked more plump, less red, even, radiant. I can't use retinol daily, because my super dry, super sensitive skin peels and becomes irritated, but once or twice a week, this is a god send. I hope that I can adjust to using this more often, with hopes of keeping my skin permanently radiant and flawless...

As so many others stated below, this really is an outstanding serum! I have extremely oily skin (as in, I have to blot 10+ times a day, literally) as well as acne, so I was very hesitant to use this since it is a serum and has a thick consistency. But it's amazing! I use it at night and when I wake up in the morning, my skin is so smooth and soft, and I also feel it has helped to lessen my post acne red marks and dark spots. And a little dab will do ya :) a sample packet lasted me 4 days! I am only 25 so wrinkles are not yet an issue that I worry about but this serum addresses so much more than wrinkles. I am so thankful I was sent a sample of this with another order. Thank you PC!

I absolutely love this serum! I love all Paula's products, but this feels so wonderful and I love how my skin feels when I wake up in the morning. I took off 1 star because although the packaging is pretty, it is hard to twist and untwist when my hands are loaded with all the other products. Silky and non-irritating
I've been using this serum for awhile now, building up to using it every night. I have sensitive skin with mild rosacea and have experienced irritation with retinol products in the past, but not with this serum. It's silky and light, and my skin feels nice and smooth with no added redness. What a great addition to the Resist line!

The only one that hasn't been great for me
I love all of Paula's products--and especially those from the "Resist" line, and perhaps I need to give this one some time, but so far it has left me with bumps on my skin, even though I am only using it every other night. I stopped using it, and my skin looks normal again after a week. Again, it may be the case that I need to give it more time, but I am just thinking that this product might not be right for my skin. Wow!
I received a sample of this with an order, and I was immediately impressed with the texture -- it glides over my skin. The next morning I noticed the fine lines around my mouth were lessened. I placed an order, and after one week of every other night use (I alternate with the antioxidant serum) the lines around my eyes and mouth are practically gone! Mind you, I am not obsessed with wrinkles, and I know Paula has always said you can't magically get rid of them, but this is about as close as you can get! My face and neck have never been so smooth. I have a couple of small patches that are drier now because of the Retinol, but it's nothing a spot of moisturizer can't fix. Love this stuff!

packaging wasn't tested?
I love the product, but the pump either needs to be taller, or to stick out farther. I recently finished using up the last of my very expensive and not so very effective premium brand serum and moisturizer and started using some of Paula's Choice products. Last week the Resist Intensive Wrinkle Repair Serum arrrived. It's lovely. It feels just as silky and luxurious as the serum I was using, at literally one tenth of the price, and my skin already feels and looks softer and smoother. I'm using it with several other Resist products and I've actually had people comment on the way my skin looks. I'm really impressed with everything I've tried, but this serum is a standout.

So Far, So Good!
I have VERY sensitive skin and have used retinol and retin-A in the past with NO SUCCESS. Just a lot of dry, flaky, irritated skin. I have also tried a multitude of products from the department and drug stores, with little or no success. I ordered several sample packets of this Wrinkle Repair System and have used it for a few weeks. So far, so good. I think after the 5th day my skin felt a little right so I backed off for a few days and then went back to using it and I think it's working well. My skin looks better and the serum feels good, doesn't sting or burn. I also purchased the Skin Recovery Super Antioxidant serum for dry to very dry skin and use it around my eyes. I use the Resist all over my face and neck. I got a compliment from a former beau who asked me if I had a face lift (I'm 58 years old!) and I said NO. My husband also noticed and said my face looked really smooth and nice. So if you are wondering, try the sample packets (I made one last for three uses) and see if it works for you. I'm glad I did!

WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!!!!!
I started using PC products about a year ago. I had tried dozens and dozens of products and product lines. I had even tried some of the most expensive products out there, anything to get smoother, clearer skin ans less wrinkles. I had seen Paula on a lot of talk shows, even read her books. About a year ago, I made the jump to PC. After 3 weeks, my skin was glowing, and those lines around my eyes and mouth were no longer noticeable. When the RESIST line added a retinal serum, I received a sample with an order. I had been using Skin Recovery Super Antioxidant Serum, and did not think my 58 year old skin could get any better without surgical intervention. I was so wrong!! After only a few days of using the new RESIST retinal serum, my skin has a new glow, is softer, and looks years younger. It only takes a drop to get great results. I didn't think PC could get any better, but this new RESIST retinal serum delivers on all it's promises. It is extraordinary!!!! Please, Paula don't ever drop this product. The new container took some getting use to but now I even love that too. If anyone has any doubt if the new RESIST retinal serum can make a difference.....just give it a try, you will not be disappointed. P.S. Absolutely Amazing
I have been a Paula devotee since college. Her taught me everything I know about caring for my skin and saved me lots of money in the process. Now in my mid-40's the fine lines are starting to show. I love the Resist line and when ordering the cleanser and toner, it came with a sample of this Retinol serum. I didn't order the serum then, thinking I would finish up the drugstore brand I had been using. Having tried several OTC Retinols with no success (both high end and drugstore), I was looking for something with a higher percentage than the Resist Moisturizer or antioxidants that wouldn't cause the irritation that others brands had. I was still dubious; but I tried the sample. WOW, WOW, WOW! ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! I can't believe the results. After three days, I ran into an acquaintance I hadn't seen in two weeks. She kept commenting on how much my skin was glowing and how bright, happy and alive I looked. What a great response and after only three days! I promptly ordered a full size and have been judiciously rationing the sample like liquid gold until my full size arrives. I don't even want to look at the Retinol I was using before! I'm on day seven now and my skin hasn't looked this good in years. This is such an elegant serum -- it's lightweight and applies like a dream. I have had absolutely no irritation and I have sensitive, rosacea-prone skin. Please never change or stop manufacturing this product!

Wonderful product!
I have using the resist line for over a year with happy results. I started using this product less than a week ago and I have never had such remarkable results from any skin care product ever! Two days in a friend said my skin was glowing. Over this week I have switched from using my mineral powder make up to only a tinted moisturizer. My skin tone is even and has a glow. Best In the Resist Line!
I have been using the entire Resist line since its inception and absolutely love every single product. This new retinol serum, however, is FANTASTIC! I'm in my 60s and have been using Paula's Choice products all along. Since using the Resist line and this serum, though, I barely need to use concealer! It's a miracle. The few age spots I had have faded to where I just put a dab of concealer on them but really don't need to, and my skin has a nice little glow so that blush is added almost as an after thought. It needs to be used consistently, though. I've purchased the line for my husband, and he, too, swears by it. He notices a difference when he travels and doesn't bring along his products. Brilliant In Every Way!
This formula tops all other serums in every way! ( I alternate this one with the other serums from Paula's Choice. ) It's silky texture is a pleasure to apply and the skin feels baby-soft in the morning. The innovative pump-bottle is BRILLIANT ! Sadly, only this serum is packaged in an airtight container. All others, plus most of the creams in this line, are house in plastic tubes which let air back in after squeezing product out... As I understand it, this depletes the very air-sensitive antioxidants which are the very reason why we use these specialty - products. After using Paula's products almost exclusively for over 15 years, I thought I'd reached the epitome of what I could achieve without injectables, laser treatments, and/or plastic surgery. I was wrong. After using this serum for just three weeks I saw a noticeable improvement in the overall appearance of my skin. It's clearer, smoother, and more even toned. This is also the only product I've ever found that has made a real difference in the appearance of the large pores on my nose and cheeks (thickening skin from Rosacea). One thing I would say is although I had no redness or irritation when I first started this I did have peeling, despite having used a 1% BHA in the morning and 8% AHA at night for years. I also experienced some minor skin purging (pimples) the first week, but now that I've been using it for over a month, I'm fine. In fact, it's nearly eliminated monthly breakouts entirely. My skin looks better at 41 than it did at 20!

This serum is wonderful, I love it and I have seen an improvement in my face since I have been using it the past 4 days. I just found Paula's products and this product was my first order and I love it. It goes on with a bit of greaseness, but it sinks in, in seconds leaving soft skin. And I have dry skin so I have had no problem with a breakout on my face, I think this product was made just for people with dry skin. This is the Serum for me
Wow. I got a sample and tried it last night. My face have never looked and felt some good. I am a male to female transsexual undergoing electrolysis on my face. Its very challenging to find a product that heals my face well. Electrolysis is very brutal to your face. Keeping the swelling down is next to impossible. Due to the hormones used my skin is constantly changing and is usually very dry.I have tried many retinol serums, and this is by far the best I have used. And a little goes a long way. I would say if your face needs retinol this is the one for you. Its not an over night fix, but if one day is any indication of things to come this is a good choice.

Didn't think it could be this good!
I am working from several sample packs and just now ordered my full sized bottle of this. I am a long time Paula fan but now, just wow. This goes on silky, absorbs in moments and I could see a difference by the next day! My skin was already looking well from other PC products but this is nothing short of amazing. I have rosacea and am highly reactive to products with PC's stuff being the best to use of all the many things I have tried. I expected to not be able to use this from other reviews where people expressed concern about irritation but I am happy to be excepted from that. I used up two sample packets (2 weeks worth) trying this out, and I'm really impressed. I've been looking for the perfect retinol product. RoC Multi-Correxion is great but smells awful, and DermaDoctor Poetry in Lotion is high potency but too irritating (and 2x the $ of this PC serum.) I was able to use this every night with absolutely no irritation, redness or flaking, no breakouts or any other unwanted effects. It just gave me really soft, glowy, clear skin and within two weeks even began fading fine lines and some old acne scars. Amazing! My skin is a little on the sensitive side, combination with occasional breakouts, and this was just the right formula for me. Unfortunately, I accidentally had the first bottle sent to my mom's house (800 miles away.) Oops! Hope she likes it...Just ordered another for myself and rushed it because I can't wait to start using it again. Thank you PC for another outstanding product!

Wow! What a difference & no greasy muck!
I've been a fan a Paula's for years, but just recently started using her products. I received a sample of the Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum with my order & was amazed by this product. Almost every "moisturizer" or "serum" I've ever used left me with an oil slick either by end of day or in the morning when I woke up. I'm 55 & honestly, I guess I should be glad I've oily skin as I'm told "it helps keep you from wrinkling young". The problem is finding the "right" products. Paula you are awesome!!!! I was so sure when I put it on, oh great oily...WRONG! Within seconds my skin absorbed it & best of all soft silky skin & NO morning oil slick! After just two nights of using this sample I can hardly believe how healthy my skin looks. Paula you're the best, can't wait to get my next order.

Using this for a couple weeks now
I think this is working for me. It's only been three weeks or so, but the face is looking good. No flakiness or any bad response to the retinol. Very drying
Seems like a great product maybe in more humid climates. It is too drying for my skin in Colorado. Feels great going on, but my skin is red and chapped after just two days of use, even when following with heavy duty moisturizer. Too bad, will be returning it. ten star retinol product
my skin is on the dry side but suffering with acne, so i'm using a combo of the clear and the RESIST line already. when this product came up for presale on facebook i couldn't RESIST (pun intended) grabbing it up. i was using a prescription retinoid but within days i'd be bright red and peeling and anything i applied would burn, so it just wasn't cutting it, but i wanted the benefits of a good retinol, and i knew i could trust paula's team. i swear within a few nights the color of my skin started looking 'healthier' and now that i've given it several weeks i'm still pleased to this day with what i'm seeing. the overall tone/color is very healthy and even(between the acne i'm still fighting..grrrr!) and i have to give a shout out to the packaging, i am a sucker for good packaging and this particular package is quite high end and dare i say, sexy looking. i know, it's an odd thing to say about packaging but that's how i feel about it. granted it's what is in the bottle that matters most and that product is top notch! no irritation and i use it daily, in fact i can't wait to do my evening regimen so i can use my RESIST retinol!

Don't Like The Pump
My mom gets all my Paula's Choice Skin Care for me. This seems like a nice serum. Very reasonably priced. I don't like the packaging. I like the tubes much better. I know there is going to be a lot of product left in the container that the pump is not going to dispurse so money down the drain. The tubes are great & travel well. I also don't understand putting this antioxidant/retinol serum in a pump because in a review of the Resist Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum Customer Service stated: The packaging for the Antioxidant Concentrates is the best possible option, as the consistency of the serums is incompatible with pump dispensers. The squeeze tubes for the super antioxidant concentrate serums are more compatible as the textures for these serums are different than the retinol serum texture. The RESIST Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum is a very light fluid texture which requires specially designed packaging to keep this amount of retinol stable as retinol is a very sensitive ingredient. Absolutely Fabulous
I have loved all of products for years, but this one is my new favorite! It is so soft and silky to apply, but does not make my T-zone oily. Life-Changing!

Nice Serum Bad Package
I think Paula is trying to compete the other big names out there with the new packaging. This new packaging looks very much like Estee Lauder products. I much prefer the small tube. This new pump is nice but I tried to unscrew the top and you can't. There is now way you are going to get every last drop out of this container so I can see wasting a good bit of money. I cut the top off the tubes when they get very low and then seal them in a food sealer each night that way I get every last drop and at $25+ I get my entire purchase price worth of product. I also think the packaging of products in such large containers is a gimmick to fool customers into thinking they are getting more than they are. Customer Care Response: Thank you for your review. Nice but...
I received the product and fell in love with the packaging! I then tried it and loved how it felt and looked on my skin the first two days. But then the around the third day my skin started becoming very sensitive, and by the 4th day, it was not only sensitive but very irritated. Not sure if I used too much of the product because of its thin consistency or what, but I had to stop using it. I have been using Paula's products for over ten years and I definitely have liked some products more than others. Best yet
I've been using this for a week. Skin feels softer, smoother, more cushiony. Over the weekend, I used the Weekly Resurfacing Treatment, then followed with the Resist Serum-the results are even more fabulous. This serum is a bit more liquid and less tacky than Paula's Skin Recovery Serum or the regular Resist serum. To top off the brilliance of the formula, the space-age packaging actually makes me look forward to my skincare routine. Great job, Paula and team!

Wonderful Product
I have used this product for a little over a week now and I must say I honestly see a difference in my skin (actually the first day I saw a difference but thought I might be wishing as opposed to really seeing a difference). I must say it must be working because people have commented on how almost flawless my skin (especially around my eye area) looks. I am in my mid 50's so those compliments mean alot to me! I really love this new product. I thought the weekly serum was the bomb, but then I tried this and I couldn't believe how well it worked. My skin can be dry and I'm starting to get lines around my eyes and around my mouth and this product does a great job smoothing and tightening. Great Product - Concern About Packaging
The product gets a 5, but the packaging gets a 3, so my end score is a 4. I love this product. I've been using it a little over a week and have had no problems with using it every evening. It goes on silky and absorbs very quickly. The packaging is a problem; the lid specifically. Although it is still intact, the lid is very loose and doesn't always open on first try, so I suspect it's going to break soon. Wonderful addition to the RESIST line
I was super excited when this serum launched, because I wanted to see Paula's take on anti-aging with retinol. You see, I have very sensitive skin, which shies away from retinoids. I usually end up with quite a bit of irritation very fast. I figured I would give this a try - Paula has transformed my oily, sensitive and acne-prone skin so far, so she's obviously knowledgeable and talented! First off, the packaging is great. The product is housed in an attractive container with a twist pump that can be closed after use. The serum is quite silky, although a little goes a long way. The first night, I applied way too much and it took a while to set. I found that 3 pumps are sufficient for the face, neck and decolletage area. This product is exceptionally gentle. I used it for 5 nights in a row with no issues. By the sixth night, I felt a very slight sting in my cheek area, but no redness (unlike with other retinol products I have tried). Since my skin does have the tendency to react to retinol, I will alternate this serum with the RESIST Super Antioxidant. The price is great also for the quality of the product.

Couldn't be happier
After reading the other 3 reviews I guess I'm not "crazy". I didn't think I would have such good results after the first use but I believe I did. I have been using the retinol serum for 5 nights now. I noticed a clearer, smoother more radiant skin tone. After using it for 5 nights in a row I have had no irritation or dryness. The one feature of this product I REALLY like the way it is packaged, it surpasses any other Paula's Choice product packaging. Way to go Paula and her brilliant team.

Paula's Choice Continues to Impress & Astound
I have been prescribed retinoids on 4 different occasions, and have tried most of the non-prescription retinol products that Paula recommends -- each adventure ending with the same result: irritation. I have never found a retinol product that finds the balance of efficacy and gentleness -- until now. This product is, for lack of a better word, amazing. And while I feel the same way about several of Paula's Choice products (the exfoliants, toners, CLEAR products, etc.), the new retinol serum is really quite impressive. I have used the serum for 8 nights in a row, without the slightest bit of redness or irritation, but with impressive results: my skin is smoother, blemish free and looks radiant (in only one week!). I've only gotten this kind of result from a prescription product, but only for a VERY SHORT period of time. The texture is silky, light and fast-absorbing, and while I have oily, acne prone skin, this feels soothing and elegant, not greasy or occlusive. Lastly, the price is unbelievably low for such a well-formulated product; it's less than half as much as many of the potent retinol products that Paula herself recommends. A winner all the way around. And if you have acne, and are sensitive to acne-fighting products (such as benzoyl peroxide) like I am, you might want to give this a try. This product cleared a couple of small blemishes in a matter of days -- completely. That fact alone makes this product a stand-out.

Outstanding
This serum is more liquid in consistency than the RESIST Super Antioxidant Serum, for example. It is easier to apply, and is absolutely weightless. The packaging is a quantum leap forward for PC products - an airless pump that clever twists out of the cap/lid. I noticed and immediate positive change in my skin the next day - more even skin tone, more radiant. I did notice a little dryness around my chin/nose area after a few days use - but this is, after all a strong retinol treatment and will hopefully pass. Paula's products continue to astound me.

Question: How does RESIST Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum differ from the other Antioxidant Concentrates that Paula's Choice offers?
Answer: The most notable difference is that RESIST Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum contains a higher amount of retinol than our Skin Recovery and Skin Balancing serums with retinol. The RESIST Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum does not contain retinol and as such is an excellent serum to alternate with the Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum.  Both of the RESIST serums were designed for all skin types, whereas Skin Recovery Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum is best for normal to very dry skin and Skin Balancing Super Antioxidant Mattifying Concentrate is best for normal to oily or combination skin.

Question: Which Paula's Choice serum should I use?
Answer: All skin types can use any of our serums, but there are some formulary distinctions that make certain Paula's Choice serums preferred for specific skin types. Here's how they break down:

• RESIST Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum and RESIST Intensive Wrinkle Repair Retinol Serum can be used by all skin types, including sensitive skin.
• Skin Recovery Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum is best for normal to very dry skin because it contains plant oils.
• Skin Balancing Super Antioxidant Mattifying Concentrate is best for normal to oily or combination skin because it has the lightest texture and weightless finish.
• RESIST Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum is the only Paula's Choice serum that does not contain retinol. Therefore, it's the natural choice for anyone whose skin cannot tolerate this ingredient.

Question: Is RESIST Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum better than the other Paula's Choice serums?
Answer: Not better, just different. Think of it like broccoli and carrots: both are good for you but provide different nutritional benefits your body needs to be healthy. RESIST Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum was formulated with a greater amount of retinol to provide a higher degree of wrinkle repair—but all Paula's Choice serums contain an array of ingredients proven to help repair wrinkles and other signs of aging.

Question: Can I use two Paula's Choice products with retinol, such as RESIST Barrier Repair Moisturizer with RESIST Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum?
Answer: Yes, this is fine; however, if you noticed that applying such products at the same time causes signs of irritation (such as redness or flaking) it would be best to apply one in the morning and the other at night, or consider switching to RESIST Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum, which is retinol-free.

Question: Can I use RESIST Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum with my prescription retinoid product (examples: Renova, Retin-A, generic tretinoin).
Answer: Yes, but generally speaking, you don't necessarily need to use retinol and a prescription retinoid. Many will do fine with one or the other, or you can apply the prescription retinoid at night and apply the retinol product during the day, always being sure to protect your skin with a product rated SPF 15 or greater. Keep in mind that using multiple retinoid products increases the risk of irritation, which is never the goal. With retinoids, more is not automatically better!

Question: Can I apply RESIST Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum with a product medicated with benzoyl peroxide?
Answer: Yes. For best results, apply the benzoyl peroxide product to breakout-prone areas, allow to dry, then follow with RESIST Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum. Note that benzoyl peroxide should not be applied at the same time as the prescription retinoid tretinoin, as it renders this active ingredient ineffective. It does not appear to have this same effect on retinol.

Question: What is the percentage of retinol in RESIST Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum?
Answer: Paula's Choice does not reveal the exact percentage of ingredients in any of our products except in the case of over-the-counter drug ingredients such as sunscreen actives and for our exfoliants. In these instances, knowing the exact percentage (or range) is critical as it impacts efficacy.

With retinol, amounts from 0.1–1% have proven to be effective, though higher amounts are known to increase the risk of side effects such as redness, sensitivity, and flaking. RESIST Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum contains an amount of retinol that's greater than our other serums with retinol. All Paula's Choice serums with retinol are formulated with stabilized retinol within the range of what research has shown to be effective for reducing wrinkles, improving skin tone, and building collagen.

Question: Can I layer Paula's Choice serums? Do I need to do this?
Answer: Yes, you can and it does not matter which serum is applied first. Experiment to see which order of serum application works best for you.

Although it's fine to layer our serums, ultimately you do not need to do this because every Paula's Choice serum treats skin to an array of brilliant ingredients. Because layering two serums plus your daytime moisturizer may feel too heavy under makeup, we recommend those who wish to layer our serums do so at night.
