Please never stop making this product!! I have been using it for over a month now and I can't imagine life without it. Since I started using it I've noticed less oil on my face, less breakouts, and smaller pores. This is my miracle product. Thank you Paula.

Stopped working
It worked for a few weeks, I was so happy. But, now, it makes me look even more oily than I used to, just after a few hours. I am actually less oily when I DON'T use it. Works for me
I have had dry skin with rosacea, but seem to have changed to combination/oily skin. I use Olay's foaming cleanser that Paula recommends, the skin balancing toner in her line, 1% BHA lotion, Resist sunscreen (with Titanium dioxide as the active) and the All Bases Covered Foundation. Since my skin began changing to more oily/combination, I have noticed a sheen that I don't really like so I got some samples of the Shine Stopper. I haven't wanted to change any of my routine because of how successful it has been in reducing my redness from my Rosacea. Let me just say, this product is perfect for what I need it for. It does not dry me out and it also takes away all of the shine left behind from the products I use. GREAT!!!

I WANTED it to work! :(
I wanted this product to work for me. I tried it many different ways. I tried it under and over my makeup. I tried rubbing it in, and patting it on. I do not feel that this controlled my moderate oil at all. I do not have EXTREMELY oily skin, but just get oily in the T-Zone. Within just a couple hours of applying this, shine was already showing through. It also seemed to break me out a little. :( I like other Paula products, but this one was a total letdown. My new secret trick
I'm a musician and am often performing under hot stage lights. I just get a tiny bit oily on the sides of my nose and my chin, but my forehead gets icky under those lights, and my bangs look stringy by the end of the night. Even though I love all my PC products, I held off on trying this for some time because it just seemed so improbable, and I've tried various other mattifying potions from Sephora that didn't work. Well, this one really does work. Even if I apply it in the morning, by nighttime my bangs still look great and my forehead feels soft and fresh. Shine Stopper is even better than I hoped it would be.

Not my favorite
I have oily skin in my T-zone and use Retin A from time to time. I thought this product would be great as a primer. However, when I apply the Shine Stopper it makes my skin really dry and flaky. Not a good look before applying foundation. Very happy with other Paula products this one just doesn't work well for me. I have combination skin and my t-zone gets really shiny when I wear foundation (even the mattifying varieties). I bought this product in the hopes that it might help and since it was on sale, I figured at least I wouldn't be out a ton of money if it didn't work. I'm *so* glad I got this. I've used it between foundation and pressed powder, under pressed powder alone when I don't feel like wearing foundation, and on it's own with no makeup. I have to tell you, this stuff is fantastic! I'm shine-free all day long. Can't recommend this enough. Yay, Paula! :)

The Next Best Thing to Miraculous
This product is a must for people cursed with oily skin! My skin is so oily I can see little beads of oil on the skin surface within an hour of washing my face, especially on humid days. I finally found Paula's Choice and have noticed a huge reduction in breakouts but the oil is still a problem. After reading tons of rave reviews for Shine Stopper I decided to give it a try. It is FABULOUS! The instant I put it on, my skin took on a matte look (which I have NEVER had before), and after 7 hours I still look matte. I do get oily after only a couple hours (not the 6 promised on the package), but nowhere near like I get without Shine Stopper. This is why I rated it a 4. But seriously, even if you're plagued with excessively oily skin like me, give this a try, you won't be sorry!

I've actually had some REALLY bad experiences with PC products lately so I thought I should also comment on what I found AMAZING! this mattifying product was great! Shine Stopper WORKS!! Never discontinue Paula!
My first review! Exciting. I want to urge my fellow oily T-zone ladies to BUY THIS PRODUCT. It works it works it works. Try it out and tell your friends! I like going natural as possible and with this is the first time I have been able to wear no foundation/powder! I dab it on my forehead and nose in the morn before work and i'm still "mattified" (new word) at 5p. If I need to go out after work I just dab on some more. You can do layer after layer and it looks like your skin is naked and shineless. BUY IT.

APPLY OVER MAKEUP
I received two samples of this product.
The first sample I mistakenly wore under my makeup. Before leaving a poor review in regards to the oil control & the havoc it wrecked on my makeup, I read the usage instructions closer and realized it's supposed to be worn OVER makeup.
My second sample went to much better use and all I can say is that the product is amazing. It didn't alter my makeup, kept my shine at bay, and was nice to use without makeup as well.

Great Product!
I really love this product! I've used other products, the most notable being the Smashbox primer that people rave about. I like that this one does not make my skin feel tight and dry. It goes on silky smooth. I do have very oily skin, without this I'm an oil slick within an hour and my makeup used to slide right off my face. I DO use quite a bit more than suggested, but it works for me. I have found to apply it right away after washing my face (liberally) and let it dry for about 5 mins or so before putting my makeup on. Letting it dry is KEY! I still get oily, but my makeup stays intact all day now!

pretty good product
well, i'm realistic about oil control, so i won't judge anything too harshly if it even works at all. i have super oily skin. this is a pretty good product, all things considered. it doesn't control my oil for 6 hours (more like 2 or 3), but it does a nice job of replacing a pressed powder for touching up during the day. i tried to apply it under and over makeup and find that it works best for me OVER my makeup. it doesn't disrupt my foundation at all. i use one of paula's sponges to dab on a very light coat. i find using a sponge helps avoid getting too much product in one place. i use it after i blot w/papers. the price is MUCH better than the smashbox product (don't like that one...it's very heavy and uncomfortable). i would say over all, it's a good product.

Enhances Oil Production/Shininess
I've been blessed (harumph) with the oiliest skin there is. My father was oily into his 80s. I've done Accutane and am still oily--even in my late 40s-- and now mostly plagued with constantly clogging pores (soft white clogs) and oily shine. This product did not live up to its claims for me, in fact, made me oilier where I applied it. I've held onto it, hoping ONE DAY it might work for me, but...alas, no dice any time I use it. I wish I'd returned it. So many of these oil-soaker-upper preparations simply do not work for me. The only one that did was OC Eight mattifying gel, but it doesn't play well under liquid makeup. Paula, why? Why?? So many claim this makes their oiliness worse. I'd love to exchange this for a salicylic liquid that didn't clog my pores. Customer Care Response: Thank you for your review. Controls my extreme oil.
I bought a sample of this stuff, and I will be buying the full size ! My skin is extremely oily. As in, I have to blot every single hour, and I can't wear eye makeup (except mascara) or foundation because it literally slides off my face about 2 hours after I put it on. I wore this stuff to work over Paula's Sheer Tint SPF and some Physicians Formula powder, and let me tell ya people, I blotted my face twice today. TWICE! That is astronomically amazing for me. Normally I am so embarrassed about my oily skin (it also exasperates my acne) that I will even pretend to have to use the bathroom just so I can go blot my face. With this stuff, I was focused on work all day, not my skin. Please give this product a try!

Awesome as primer!
This is awesome as a base for makeup. Tried two other Name Brand primers only to break out. This helps my makeup go on smooth and really helps with the oily t-zone. I rated it a 4 only because if you don't apply it quickly it does roll in areas. Will definitely buy again.

More Oily!!
This product goes on smooth and you can tell that it is stopping the oil, HOWEVER, I used this everyday and saw that my skin was even oiler than usual. I've recently discovered Paula's products and have loved everything except this product. I used it faithfully and tried different application methods. Unfortunately, it didn't work for me. great product!
I didn't like this the first time I tried it, but gave it another go and am so glad I did! The first time I used too much product, and it looked chalky/felt heavy on my face. The second time I used it much more sparingly, smoothing it over my Zuzu foundation in light downward strokes. Much better results! It dries to a matte finish and sets my foundation perfectly. I follow with a light dusting of powder, and don't need to blot/re-powder for several hours. For best results, I use shine stopper along with Paula's mattifying serum (applied over Resist sunscreen and under foundation). The serum and shine stopper together greatly increase longevity of my foundation. The one drawback: shine stopper does clog my pores a bit, resulting in an occasional breakout, so I use BHA exfoliant more often to compensate. (I usually alternate AHA and BHA).

Works for sensitive shiny schnozzes!
I have dry, sensitive, blemish-prone skin but my nose always gets shiny at work. I can't use things that are usually drying because then I get flakes or irritation (shiny and flaky? How can a girl be so lucky, right?). I am a nurse which means 12 hour shifts and usually no time for touch ups. Enter this stuff! A dab on my nose in the morning equals no shiny nose all shift! Has not broken me out and I have not noticed any flakes on my nose. Perfect! To be fair, I have only used it in the cold weather and I don't use it daily - we will see how it holds up in heat/humidity. But so far I am very pleased!

Doesn't work for me
I'm so envious of everyone here that raves about this product! My T-zone is very oily and so are my eyelids. I tried using the Shine Stopper under and over my makeup. I tried dabbing it with fingertips and makeup sponge. I tried using less product, then I tried using more product. I don't know what else to try. I do like the texture and how it applies, but I just get 0 oil control which is really frustrating. I had big expectations about this product but sadly it just has not made a difference for me. Love it!
I've used other Paula's Choice products and have been happy with them but this is the first time I have felt compelled to write a review. I absolutely LOVE this product. I have extremely oily skin and this is the BEST thing I have found to keep the oily shine under control. I don't know that it always keeps it completely shine free for a full six hours but it definitely lasts at least four hours or more. As long as I blot off any excess oil at lunch time, it keeps my face looking fresh through the end of the workday. Please don't ever stop selling this product!

Instant and LONG-lasting matte
I have been holding off this review for a few months since I received the product, but I can confidently say that this is the perfect solution to my oily, oily skin! I have always had an extremely oily t-zone and my nose particularly liked to glisten before noon. I would have droplets of oil on my nose, which exacerbated the size of my pores - really nasty! However, I started using this product (didn't have to use a wet sponge) and my problems were solved! No more oilyness and it lasts up to 8-10 hours. I simply put spots of it in my t-zone and my cheekbones, then rubbed and patted it in. It doesn't look too nice at first since it kinda makes my face look dry right after cleansing, but after a few hours, it starts soaking up the oils and provides a really nice sheen to my skin. No breakouts or irritation (but can sting a little bit if my skin is too dry after cleansing). The one thing I need to point out is that the cap can barely stay on. I would twist and twist but the cap would just keep falling off, so now I have to be very careful it doesn't open while in my drawer, and getting exposed to contaminants. However, I didn't take any stars off since I'm reviewing the formulation, not the packaging. Another great product, Paula + team!

Wow, I am impressed. I'm a very skeptical person, but a passionate paula's choice frequent buyer. This product delivers. I'm very oily and acne prone, and this has helped to relieve 75% of the oil on my face for 8 hours. it blends beautifully under or on top of makeup (i use it to touch-up instead of powder now). It makes the skin appear natural, and seems to even tighten my skin. WOW

Thank you! I have felt embarrassed about having oily skin since I was 12 years old. I am now 55 and still look like I could lube a car within an hour of face washing, unless I use Shine Stopper. This is a miracle for me! My oily skin has kept me looking about 10-15 years younger, however, appearing like an oiled doll is unacceptable. Blotting papers are only a quick fix that is very temporary. It is also not always convenient to use them. Shine Stopper lets me have the best of both worlds. I have a really big issue with my eye makeup creasing and "migrating" - by lunch my eyeliner is usually halfway up to my eyebrows. With shine stopper my eye makeup stays in place almost all day.

Great for oily scalp!
I have always struggled with an oily scalp. If I don't have time to shampoo, I dab this paste into my scalp and gently massage. Five minutes later, I brush out my hair, and I'm good to go for another day before needing to shampoo. Works as well, if not better, than dry shampoos and leaves no powdery residue (as long as you don't over-apply).

Beats Competitors Cold
Tried a sample. Loved it! Then didn't want to pay shipping, so I tried a Rimmel version, then sampled both MAC and Benefit mattifiers. WOW, Paula's blew them away! ...and was half the cost, even with shipping. The Mac was expensive (no surprise) and actually added a little sheen, the Benefit was sticky (really, sticky?!?) and $30, and the Rimmel just broke my skin out. I find that I love to use the Paula's *over* foundation, or even over my whole face as a "liquid powder." It sets beautifully, keeps Paula's awesome and longlasting Best Face going strong, and is (now I know) very reasonably priced. Never without it. The best out there; no contest.

I have always had oily skin since I was young, I enjoy trying all kinds and brands of makeup and have never come across something like this before, It does an amazing job of giving a powder feel to your face and gets rid of the shine. My only problem is that I need to reapply it in about 6 hours,but I feel that is because of my skin type and not the product. I love it!!! I even have my 15 year old son using it to keep his face from looking oily. I really recommend this product.

Wow! I tried a sample... put this over my moisturizer/sunscreen, and then I apply my Paula's Concealer over it, followed by Paula's powder... wow! It took away the shine, which gave my skin a flawless look. Love this stuff!! Am here right now to order some.

A Fantastic Product
Even though I have combination skin, parts of my face are so oily that I have a sheen just shortly after washing my face. I have had OK results with other mattifying products in the past but nothing has been as effective as this one! I just finished my first tube (used during the hot summer months, none the less!). My only issue, which I solved with some experimentation, is that in my dry areas, the product would really cause my flakiness to show when I used powder as my foundation. I solved that by applying the Shine Stopper and then very quickly (before the product dried) applying my powder; none of my flakes show and the area still is very matte. I love it.

Incredible Product!
After my Resist Clear, serum and sunscreen, I mix the Shine Stopper together with my Barely There Sheer. The finished result is a soft satin finish that lasts all day, even over my oily skin.

Do not like this product
This product is too obvious on my skin. It looks like dried-on glue. And peels off like a dried-on glue would. I much prefer the antioxidant super mattifying serum or even the mattifying lotion with SPF 15 to this product.

Shine Stopper
This product has exceeded my expectations. It does not last 6 hours (at least when applied under foundation--my face gets an unbelievable oily shine in very little time), but does keep the makeup on. I will try over the foundation and see what happens then.

This stuff actually stops my skin from being oily, I've never found anything like it. I do tend to get more blackheads/whiteheads while using this product, almost as if the stuff were blocking my pores a little too well, but I have very oily skin, so for me the trade-off is absolutely worth it! Do not pass this product by!
Excess shine has always been a problem for me. I don't have super-oily skin, but I find most powders need to be blotted/re-applied every hour or two or I start to look very shiny. I've tried other mattifying gels/lotions/primers and been disappointed. But this product really works for me! Applied after makeup, lightly powder over top, and I am good ALL DAY, even after riding my bike to work! If you've tried other mattifying products and been disappointed, this may be the one you've been looking for.

No miracle in this tube
Every makeup line has a mattifier; none of them have ever worked for me so I thought I'd give this one a chance because the reviews seemed good. However, if you are truly oily (i.e. you blot hourly, summer and winter), then this product will do absolutely nothing for you. It will sit on your face and make you feel even more uncomfortable. My advice is to save the money and invest instead in more blotting papers. If you really want to stop shine you can ask your derm for Accutane, it will work but the side effects can be hazardous, as your derm will tell you before writing an Rx. I received a sample of this and it totally works. I have very oily skin and was using the NeoStrata mattifying fluid as my primer. It worked but the Shine Stopper is much better. I just ordered 4 to stock up since it is on sale.

I swear I have the oiliest face ever! This product works VERY well (especially if I use it in conjunction with a mattifying foundation) at keeping my face looking normal without making my skin feel tight and dry. Also, it doesn't leave a white residue on my brown skin and it doesn't break me out. I had to take one star off because the results only last a few hours for me.

Where have you been all my life!?
This stuff is seriously awesome! I've been using it for about a week now and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. Before I was using this product I would have to use at least four oil blotting papers to get all the oil off my face by lunch time. Now, I use one to remove the miniscule amount I've acquired or just reapply pressed powder and it's as if I just put my makeup on (and this week has been the most humid here all summer). After getting out of the shower I use the 2% Beta Hydroxy Acid Liquid and then apply the shine stopper. I put a line across each cheek, my forehead, down my nose, and across my chin. I use a sponge to dab it around each area. Then I do the rest of my makeup so it has enough time to set and I apply my foundation last. It's worked like a charm for me.

Let me first say that I do not have oily skin--my skin is normal, with a tendency to become dry in the winter. I tried this product as a primer under makeup and I am really impressed with it. I apply a small amount with fingers on my lids, under my eyes, and on my nose. It works beautifully. My eye makeup applies more easily and lasts better. I'm so glad I ordered samples of this product!

LOVE IT!!
I have super-oily skin, and this product works wonders! Even in the heat, my face stays matte nearly all day. I haven't had any problems applying this under my makeup, but I wait a couple of minutes to allow it to set. I usually use Revlon Colorstay Foundation w/ Softflex, which I apply with a kabuki brush (very easy, and I use less product that way). I also tried it both over and under Revlon's Colorstay Mineral Mousse Foundation (which I apply with my fingers), and it worked both ways. Terrific product. Don't change it!

Finally! A shine stopper that actually works for me! I'm 39 and still have oily skin that's prone to break-outs, and this product keeps my skin smooth and matte. Tip: if it balls up on your skin, use less. Love this product!

Works great!...without makeup...
Let me start by saying that a lot of Paula's products work brilliantly for me. This one does as well...if I'm not wearing makeup. However, since I wear makeup on an almost daily basis, especially because it acts as my added sun protection, this product isn't so good for me. It miight make my foundation last longer, but it makes any formula look more dry and flakey, even right after application. So, if you wear makeup regularly, this product may not be for you, I would opt for a different primer. However, if you don't wear makeup, this may just be worth a try. It Doesn't Work Miracles
I have very oily skin, particularly in the T-zone areas. I was often using pressed powder and blotting sheets multiple times a day. This product does work, but by no means can I leave the powder and blotting sheets at home. By 1:00 my face is as oily as ever. I do think it makes my makeup go on a little more neatly, and I certainly notice the matte finish after I apply it. I recommend getting a sample first and trying it out for a couple weeks. I'm not sure if it's worth the full price, but I would probably buy it again if it were 50% off or more. Made my skin shinier
This product seems to make my skin more shiny, not less. I put it on under my usual makeup and noticed my skin looked shinier than usual - I used it for a few more days in case it was a fluke, but it continued to make my skin shiny. It doesn't cause any harm, but it doesn't work, either. Outstanding stuff !
I've been using this stuff since its launch in January 2011, but I've waited along time before leaving a feedback because I had a love/hate relationship with it. I have an oily skin with very oily areas (like my nose which is as shint as a discoball about 2 hours after washing). This product has really good points : nice lighweight creamy consistency, leaves an invisible finish, blurs pores, does not dry skin (almost the most important point for my easily dehydrated skin) and controls oils for several hours (but no more than 3-4 hours when the weather is hot and humid). The bad points I noticed : the cream formula can leave streaks if massaged for too long, all powders do not cling well to it, can flake if I use too much (depending on how I apply it, I'll explain why later). I've used it several ways : with a flat top brush, a concealer/foundation brush, a taklon powder brush, a dual fiber brush and my fingers The best way to get a smooth finish was the concealer/foundation brush but I tend to use too much and it flaked when I applied powder. The best matte finisg was when I used my fingers, I used less product (and it did not flake anymore) but I needed to dab dab dab dab or I did not get a smooth surface. Then a Paula's fan said on PC's facebook page that she used a makeup sponge (I did not try this way)... what a difference !!! Since, I've used the Shine Stopper only with makeup sponges (either latex or non-latex) and the finish is flawless each time, with a smooth matte surface, no more streaking, no more flaking :-) Thank you Paula for creating such a comfortable non-irritating and non-drying oil-aborber :-D

Great product
After reading the negative reviews I was a little hesitant to try it, but since it was I sale I gave it a shot. I tried it under my normal moisturizer and makeup and it didn't really work. I read the directions and tried it without the moisterizer under makeup and it worked great but I got a little too dry around my mouth. I've been using it with a little bit of Neutrogena Comibination Skin moisturizer in dryer areas and Paula's Choice Best Face Forward foundation. It works great! I used to use 3 blotting sheets at lunch, now I only need 1. (I need 3 if I don't blot at all until 8 pm.) Really, my only complaint about the product is it took a while to figure out how to use it right.

Love Shine Stopper
I use Shine Stopper on my eyelids, brow, and nose. If I let the product extend to the area between my brows or side of my nose, I get a slight breakout of whiteheads. It does do a great job of eliminating shine.

Best I've Tried
I have exceptionally oily skin. The oily shine appears 5 minutes after cleansing (sometimes less). Shine Stopper is the first product I've tried that actually does what it says. While it doesn't stop the shine for six hours for me (more like 4 or 5) I am extremely pleased. This product works much better than Smashbox Anti-Shine which is what I was using before and Shine Stopper is a better price. I love that Paula's Choice has samples so now I will try more of her products.

Shine has stopped in its tracks!
This product worked wonderfully. I received a sample back in the cooler weather, but the only way to determine if a product truly lives up to its claim is to use it when my skin is at its oiliest. This product delivered results. I'd love to give it a rating of a "5," but I did find that it settled into fine lines, wrinkles, creases, and crevices. If it were developed in a gel formula, I'd definitely be the first in line to purchase it. If that's something that you haven't already thought about, it may be something to consider, since it does enhance flaws in one's skin.

It Works!
I have extremely oily skin. I am shiny in the morning. By afternoon, I am radiant and not in a good way. I will blot my face at least twice during the afternoon, if not more. By evening, I am shiny, but I'm home and don't care. With Shine Stopper, my afternoon oil slick was just like the morning shine, i.e., not very much, just the usual. Did it make the shine magically disappear? No. But, it lessened the severity of the oil greatly. In my opinion, this works, and I will always use it.

I had been really happy with another makeup primer for oil control (and still am), but had to exchange another product with Paula's Choice and decided to try this. SO GLAD I DID! In hot humid DC weather, I have been maintaining a reasonably matte face (completely matte is impossible!) and seems to sit very well under my foundation. Not sure if I'll go back to my old product now...To top it off Nathan of PC was a pleasure to work with, even though I messed up the return/exchange process. Thanks Nathan!

It does work....
I have blemish prone combination skin, and I have tried other mattifiers and this is the first that actually works. I have a shine that usually comes on in the early afternoon and I found that after a couple days use, and especially after a week my skin stayed matte with a matte foundation on top. My concern is that I get dry peeling skin on my forehead between my eyes if I don't use a strong exfolliator in the evenings with it. I feel it's worth a try for sure. Give it more than once or twice to see great results.

The best but not a miracle.
I have extremely oily skin with huge shine after 1 hour of putting on makeup. So I was very excited when this new Paula product was released. I find it goes on underneath makeup better than the other top rated shine controllers I have used, no pilling. I have used it under the Paula SPF 45 non greasy sunscreen in grand cayman with success. I have thrown away all the other competitors. The reason why for me it is not a miracle is that is only keeps the shine away for 2-3 hrs for me.

Formula needs improvement
I was thrilled when I saw that Paula was offering a shine stopper and immediately ordered a tube. Unfortunately, until the formula is revamped I won't be ordering this product again. It hasn't performed as well for me as for other reviewers; I can apply in the morning but by noon my face looks like it's been smeared with petroleum jelly. When the tube is empty I'll purchase my old standby, Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer Light. I'd like to give Paula's another try, however, as I've been more than pleased with her other products, so I'll be on the lookout for an improved version.Customer Care Response: Thank you for your feedback. This is Fabulous
I was using an unspeakably expensive product before this, and now I feel silly for waiting so long to try it. I am in my mid-30s and still have fairly oily skin, and some visible pores. The Shine Stopper glides on like a dream and my Bobbi Brown foundation applies like never before. I do find I have a tendency to use too much, but I love it!

I have acne, and it has gotten better, but I still struggle with getting makeup to look good, stay all day and then there is the SHINE! I tried the shine stopper and it is not a miracle worker, but it works way way WAY better than more expensive options (by bye Clinique Mattifier!) Ignore the negetive nellie reviews and try it for yourself!

Amazing Product!

This is freaking amazing!!! :-) :-) :-) I L-O-V-E this product!!! :-) :-) :-) This works AWESOMELY!!! :-) :-) :-) One caveat: don't try and rub on too much; i.e., don't try and rub on more after you've already put a layer on. Then, you can end up getting too much on, and rubbing off the product. I think that's sort of a "duh!", though ;-) MUCH better than Clinique's pore minimizer :-) :-)

This product works great on my skin: mature, sensitive, combination. It evens out my skin tone and my make up goes on smoothly and lasts all day. Plus I tend to use less makeup because of my even skin tone. Before using this product, I had to blot my face at noon and reapply concealer. No longer. Great stuff.

MIRACLE !
This is the first glimmer of hope I have found for oily skin relief! As I read the reviews I noticed that the people with really oily skin seem to report great results. Maybe some people think their skin is more oily than it is, possibly from make up or other products?
I use PC's Skin Balancing Super Antioxidant Mattifying Concentrate on my enlarged oily pores. It seems to work better than all the BHA/AHA toners etc. which might cause more oil production after constant use. I recently tried the new Shine Stopper, both by itself and after using the above product overnight. SHINE STOPPER WORKS! Try this, shake it up, use it thinly, rub it in a bit, let it dry before applying make up. LOOK MOM, NO MORE PORES! Seems to have a cumulative effect, too, as I don't wake up dripping oil from nose. Also am now spared watching large drops of oil form on nose within a short time after washing.
I use Costco bathroom tissue wrappers (they are paper wrapped around individual rolls) cut into squares instead of purchasing oil blotting paper. It works great, is highly absorbent, and it's free with your tissue purchase. It's also the same color (light blue) as the semi-plastic Neutrogena ones that contain oil (how ludicrous!). If you suffer from oily skin and enlarged pores, this product is a godsend!

Shine Stopper Really Works!
I've used the Shine Stopper off and on for past few weeks. It works amazingly well on my very oily skin. I found it works the best when I use it without wearing any makeup and just want to stop shine. It lasts the ENTIRE day. (Literally from morning until night) I check for oiliness on my nose frequently throughout the day and it is completley dry! If I use it under makeup, for some reason, a little oiliness shows through on my nose, but not for several hours and not much shine at all. Overall, I would say this is a great product, but maybe a little high priced.

This stuff really does work!!!! In trying to minimize the extra steps, I have been combining a little bit with my foundation, and using it that way... Very effective! It's creamy texture helps my foundation apply very smoothly, and the oil absorbing properties of the product are very apparent, as my usual-by-lunchtime-shiny-face looks GREAT for hours and hours. Not sure if that is how it ought to be applied, but it works for me! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

This does NOT work. I've been using it faithfully for a month now and my t-zone seems oilier than when I do not use this!! I can't understand how I can use this and be oily within the hour? I have very oily skin. This product can block shine for around 3 hours on my skin. So, I should give it 4 stars, BUT - it has a temporary stingy feeling when I apply it. Simply the best!
Works wonder on my super super oily face! I have never realized how soft my skin actually was. Thank you for introducing such a wonderful product. However, one note on overall paula's choice products. you won't get one more point just because it is very pricy for the little package. Just few years ago no matter how much I ordered Paula's products they wouldn't go over $100 now it is just so easy and I feel that overall packages have gotten prettier and all the current marketing seem unnecessary and could be a major contributor.

Skeptical First, COnverted!
I was so surprised to see the negative reviews for this product, but I gave it a try anyway. Ladies (and gentlemen!,) this product WORKS. I can't imagine those who weren't getting results from this product, but I have super oily skin, and live in a very hot, gross climate. This makes pricier primers obsolete, as it stopped my grease BUT didn't leave me uncomfortably dry. I was so skeptical, but I love it! Thank you Paula!

Shine Stopper + Spring Weather = Oil Slick
I wrote a review of this after I'd been using it for a couple of months during the winter -- and I was quite impressed. It really did last 6 hours (or more). But now that it's spring, and temperatures are in the 60's, I am very disappointed in this product. I find that it lasts about an hour, which makes a product like this completely superfluous (this is not even a proper skin "care" product, but rather a cosmetic). When summer hits, I imagine this product won't work beyond five minutes, if at all.
As a devoted and long time Paula's Choice customer, I don't think any of her products truly address oily skin in a meaningful way. None of the other products (in the Skin Balancing line) which claim to be mattifying do anything for truly oily skin, and some of them seem to make oil worse (namely the SPF 15 lotion --which I do use). While most of PC products are cutting edge, I think many companies have truly surpassed PC with regard to skin care for oily skin. That's disappointing, and I hope PC is putting some effort into this. (I also realize that there's no cure for oily skin aside from Accutane). But it's frustrating to use products that claim to "stop shine for 6 hours" that are not designed to withstand warm weather and/or truly oily skin types.
I am not abandoning PC; I still consider many of her products a godsend. But Shine Stopper, which is quite expensive, is not one of them. I have super oily skin - usually my face is super oily within 30 minutes even in the winter. I saw the reviews for this product and figured I would give it a try to see what it could do.....
I have been using this product for a few weeks now. Since I have super oily skin, I am still shiny in about 1-2 hours but it has significantly controlled a lot of the oil. It is definitely helping!

I have Paula's books & her Beautypedia is my beauty bible but this product is overrated. I have oily skin & I find that this product only last 1 maybe 2 hours max. The claim is "at least 6 hours". I will continue to use it because it does help a little with my oily skin.

Pleasantly Surprised
My face is so oily that right after I wash it, you can see the oil beading out of my large pores. I tried this product with much skepticism, and was happily proven wrong. I live in Texas, where it gets real hot and makes oily skin much oilier.
I tried this on a moderately hot day, about
90 plus degrees, and my face did not get the least bit oily for more than 7 hours. I even went to a yoga class and got very heated up, and it still worked! I am so happy about this product. No more blotting throughout the day. This is my new mainstay. I recommend it!

OMG!
This is not just a shine stopper, it literally stops the oil on my face. My skin had changed and over the recent years was so oily that by lunch time I had to mop my forehead with a napkin. The napkin would come away with as much oil as if I had blotted the oil from some fried food. So my first day of trying this was with nerves that it would not work.
But it did! It worked so well that I have not had to mop my skin at all. I love this product and now don't feel like an oily mess. Please never stop making this!

I have oily, oily, oily skin. Even after I wash my face and there is no oil, my face still LOOKS incredibly shiny. My makeup looks worse and worse as the day goes on too. I have finally found a great combination of products, and my skin looks great! After my PC toner, salicylic acid gel and extra strength benzyl peroxide I use shine stopper before my foundation, and then I use revlon colorstay foundation. Instead of regular pressed powder I use physician's formula powder foundation SPF 50, lightly dusting it on with a big brush. i also use blotting papers throughout the day. I live touching up with the powder foundation because my oily skin tends to make makeup disappear and I just put on the powder with the provided sponge to keep the coverage I want all day. This is the only routine that has ever worked for me. Can't wait to see how it holds up this summer!

I thought this would be perfect for my oily skin but I'm better off without it. I tried it on bare skin and then on top of another product. While it's designed to act as a base for makeup, with me it had the opposite effect. Within a couple of hours, my L'Oreal foundation looked so splotchy or uneven that it needed to be reapplied. Yep, it works!
I ordered samples and used it 3 ways- alone, under Paula's Matte sunscreen and under another brand of sunscreen (all with a loose powder foundation) and it worked well with each (though alone worked best). I usually have to use blotter paper several time a day, but with Shine Stopper, I didn't need to until about 8 hrs after application. I'm ordering the full size tube now!

Oily skin is an understatement for my skin. I am always in the search and have tried tons of oil controlling products. This one is definitely one of the best. But it did not keep my foundation fresh at the end of day. So, I topped it my BE primer and viola, perfect makeup all day!!! Love it, thanks Paula!

no more raccoon eyes
For more than a decade I've been switching products on my oily skin so my mascara and eyeliner do not slip into my under-eye area. I've changed foundations, concealers, eyeliners and waterproof mascaras numerous times to try to keep everything in its place without success. Until. Shine. Stopper. I used to have to touch up by noon, and now my eyes stay put until at least the late afternoon. A great product!

After I do toner, serum, moisturizer, my undereye area always seems shiny. If I use powder to matte it down, wrinkles are accentuated(I am 60). Tried this in a sample size first. With my concealer, there seemed to be some flakiness. With foundation alone, it worked very well and I can avoid putting powder on that area. So it seems to work well as a primer in that way.

Better than anything I've ever tried!
My pale, olive, 55-yr old skin is extremely oily all year round, acne-prone, with large pores especially on & around my nose;plus, I must wear eyeglasses which exacerbate oiliness. I tan even thru high-powered sunscreen. I've tried everything to stop oiliness & smooth appearance of pores. From the 1st time I used Shine Stopper, (after cleansing & applying PC Skin balancing toner, SPF 15 skin mattifying lotion), it kept my makeup from sliding off my face in an hour. My large pores disappear, no breakouts. It applies smoothly, quickly, without stickiness. After about 6 hrs., some oiliness is visible-a quick blotting & reapplication of face powder, & I get through the rest of my work day. I'm so grateful. Thank you so much!

I have to agree with a few women who did not find this product to be effective. I love Paula's products, but this one is very disappointing. I have combo skin and Shine Stopper did very little to minimize the oil/shine and it didn't lengthen the time it took for shine to appear. I was so hoping this would work, because I work 8 hr days and would love to find a product that actually reduced shine. Guess I'll keep looking...

As a long-time 'Paula's' Customer, when I read others' reviews of Shine Stopper, I immediately bought it. I'm absolutely satisfied, no, THRILLED, with the results. Application: smooth & quick. Texture: smooth, non-sticky. Appearance of skin post-application: Smooth, almost poreless, matte. I have 55-yr-old, acne prone, terribly oily skin, huge pores on nose & around it. No other primer or mattifyer has ever come close to the wonderful mattifying, smoother-appearing, smaller pored results I get w/Shine Stopper. Days: I use Olay foam wash for sensitive skin, PC balancing toner, PC SPF 15 mattifying lotion, Shine Stopper, then apply concealer & powder foundation. For the first time ever, my skin looks smooth and my makeup does not slide off my face after an hour. After 5-6 hrs, I usually blot & apply powder. HOLY GRAIL FOR OILY SKIN
I have super,super oily skin (the kind tha t takes a few layers of bare essentials thoughout the day to keep non-shiny AND I blot with oil papers too!)The Shine Stopper kept me matte ALL DAY! I still used oil papers a few times late in the day, but this is a MUST HAVE for any of you serious oilies out there. BONUS no breakouts!

BEST SHINE STOPPER
I have VERY, VERY, VERY oily skin...even during the winter. I blot every hour, no matter what time of day it is, and most of my money is spent on Oil-blotting papers because I run out too quickly. I am on my 5th hour of the Shine Stopper and I still do not see any oil coming through my pores. This REALLY works. I am so impressed. Before this came out, I used to use Clinique's Pore Minimizing Oil-Control product, but it definitely doesn't work as good as Paula's Shine Stopper. I don't know how she does it...but EVERYTHING she comes out with works like she said it would.

Skeptical? Try it!
I've tried plenty of mattifying products that never delivered the results that this serum has provided! It works way better than that pricey mattifying product from Smashbox that Paula B. raves about (the exact name has slipped my mind). The first time I used this, my skin stayed totally matte for 5 hours, and I normally have to touch up within 2 hours- that's how oily my skin is. I was so impressed! I absolutely recommend this for people with oily skin/oily areas who want a smooth matte look. Great buy!

After getting off birth control I have a very oily T-Zone for the first time. I bought a sample of this product due to the reviews and I am running back to buy a full size. Thanks to Paula my skintone is pretty even and I only need a light foundation. I put this on after my moisturizer and was so amazed with the results that I didn't even put on my foundation. It was more like a primer that made my skin look matte and even. And the texture was amazing. It feels so wonderful going on and soaks up immediately. I def recommend!

My skin has always had tendency toward more oily than dry, and lately it has seemed to be more oily than ever! This stuff has a wonderful texture & feel to it. And it actually DOES keep my skin noticeably less oily and more matte throughout the whole day! I apply it as it says, AFTER exfoliating and after I put on my benzoyl peroxide and let that all settle in. I LOVE this! Highly recommended.

OMGosh - Best primer EVER!
This is one great instant TRULY matte finish primer. I have oily, highly sensitive, blemish prone skin and the Shine Stopper works wonders for me. After I cleanse and exfoliate, I apply a pea size of the Shine Stopper to the areas of my face where they are normally shiny. I was left with a totally matte finish on my face and it stayed like that all day - (10 hours +)! As I stated before, my skin is highly sensitive and this was not irritating in the least. I have used several different primers in the past and while they 'appeared' matte, they felt extremely greasy when applying. The Shine Stopper is nothing like that. Thanks again Paula for making another outstanding product!

Best Purchase Ever!
If I could give it 100 stars I would! Great primer before applying foundation to eliminate oil and can be carefully reapplied over makeup 6 hours later for a touch-up. I NEVER want to be witout this stuff!!!

I have very oily skin (still at 47 yrs of age) and it is blemish prone, although I keep that under control with PC 2% BHA liquid and 5% benzoyl peroxide as needed. Was excited to try this product. I cleansed and exfoliated with the BHA liquid and then applied the Shine Stopper to T-zone areas, then my usual loose power mineral makeup. My skin was very soft and matte to the touch and truly did stay shine free for at least 6 hours. I rarely blotted today. It was great. Thumbs Up!

I always thought if Paula would make a shine stopper product, her line would be perfect. Well, it is now perfect. I was a bit anxious, as I have tried others and had high hopes. Please! Just something to keep me from getting so shiny during the day! I do not have time to blot and fuss. Well, here it is! Perfection from Paula. It really does live up to the name and I am beyond thrilled.I do not think I apply a lot to get this to work. I just put a pinch on my t-zone and apply my creamy powder foundation. Effective for all but the oiliest skins

I have discovered several things - 1: this product works well to stop shine for several hours. 2: It went on well under the Skin Balancing Daily Mattifying Lotion SPF15 and the Barely There Sheer Matte Tint, but not so well when I applied The Hydralight Moisture Infusing Lotion mixed with Make Up Forever's HD Liquid Foundation. This home made "tinted moisturizer" combination tended to lift off the layer of Shine-Stopper underneath. Whether this was the combination of products or the application method (I have a feeling application of the foundation with a sponge would cause less disruption than with fingers) I do not know.
3: My skin REALLY is oily in a way most people who say they have oily skin can't imagine!
I can well believe this product will live up to it's 6-hour claim for most people, by I am not most people!
All in all I am impressed with this product - I now only need to blot at lunchtime when before I would be blotting mid-morning.
I think experimentation with amounts and product combinations will be necessary (I am still experimenting with Paula's Skin Balancing Super Antioxidant Mattifying Concentrate in combination with the Shine-Stopper.)

Just as promised, I started noticing a little shine at the 6 hour mark. I might try a little heavier application tomorrow, or else top with Clinique Pore Minimizer Instant Perfector, as I was doing with a different mattifying product.

Does what it says: stops shine!
I was given a tube of this a couple of months ago by Paula's Choice, and for a person whose skin gets oily at some point in the day, no matter what the weather, 365 days a year, this product really is spectacular. I am a man, therefor I haven't a clue how this works with make-up, but I've been using this underneath the SPF 15 Mattifying Lotion from PC, and the results are quite impressive: for me, this actually LASTS THE WHOLE DAY. (Incidentally, the product development person at Paula's Choice informed me that many people who tested the product said it worked much longer---so 6 hours is a very conservative claim). Also, like the product claims, "powdery, but invisible finish" is absolutely correct: the product feels really good, and isn't drying--even though I am wearing it in 20 degree weather at the moment. Lastly, I have tried all of the other 'shine stoppers' that Paula recommends, and all of them suffer from some sort of problem; either they work for 15 minutes, or not at all, or they leave an awful finish; in every regard, this product exceeds its own claims. Trust me, if you suffer from oil-slickness like myself, you'll find Shine Stopper invaluable.

DIRECTIONS: Dispense a pea-sized amount and using clean fingers or a foundation sponge, dab (do not rub) lightly over oily areas as the last step of your skin-care routine or over your foundation. Shine Stopper Instant Matte Finish works best when used with a lightweight liquid or powder foundation that also has a matte finish.
