I love the new Skin Balancing Daily Mattifying Lotion SPF 15. It's just genius. Despite how everyone says to wear sunscreen, I've never been consistent because I hate having stuff on my oily skin. This product feels light and keeps my skin from getting shiny. Plus with the antioxidants and stuff my skin looks a lot better. Softer and sort of glow-y. And it hasn't caused me to break out at all. Exceptionally helpful product

Perfection

not good under makeup
This product is okay. It works well for most of my face, but if I use it under my eyes it seems to counteract my foundation/concealer. My makeup does nothing for my dark circles when this lotion is worn under it! If I use a different moisturizer under my eyes, my makeup does what it's supposed to and covers my dark circles. WEIRD. So now I need two different moisturizers. Bummer.

Skin Balancing Daily Mattifying Lotion with SPF 15
If you're looking for a mattifying product, this isn't it, although it is an excellent moisturizer with sunscreen. My nose is just as shiny and not "mattified" in the least until I apply powder. This product does leave a nice finish on the remainder of my face.

What's not to love?
A moisturizer, a mattifier, and a sunscreen, all in one bottle with a nice little pump for under $10/oz. I think that says it all. Paula, please don't ever discontinue this! (The reason this didn't get 5 stars is that I would like to see it in a little larger size, maybe 4 oz.)

Mattifying?
Very moisturizing, but not at all mattifying. It started off shiny and moist and my oily skin made it more uncomfortable as the day went on. I would recommend this to my 67 year old mom though, it would really help her dry skin.

I thought this would be too drying for my skin but I tried the sampler and found that it keeps my makeup fresh all day in hot weather. It's a primer/sunscreen all in one and has earned a permanent place in my summer skincare lineup. Look forward to a moisturing version for the winter months!

Not for me...
I was so excited to try this product, as I love many of what Paula has to offer to deal with oily skin. It seems to be the answer to other people with oily skin. However... this product did NOT work for me. It seemed to produce more oil on my face faster than if I was completely bare faced. I was really disappointed! I love all of her other products, just not this one...

Why not use mineral sunscreen in this?
Why is there chemical sunscreen in this product? Mineral sunscreens are used in the daily moisturizing with SPF 15 and are much better for oily skin.

Excellent daily sunscreen
This is the best sunscreen I've ever used, hands down. I have combination skin, and during my pregnancy it was very blemish-prone. This is the only sunscreen that didn't cause more breakouts! Great for combination skin, not too drying or too greasy. And it doesn't leave the strange white cast that some sunscreens do under makeup. Love it!

love this
i love this skin mattifying spf15 product. it works wonderfully. my only compliant is the packaging, i wish it were a tube without the pump. the pump stops working well after you are 1/2 way through and i had to cut the tube open and dipp into it that way and i still have 1/3 left. packaging that allows you got get most of it out would be better. other than that i love this for breakout prone skin along with the 2% bha gel

I wish I didn't like ths so much...
I wish I didn't like this so much, given that it's the most expensive of Paula's sunscreens! I've tried all of them and this is my favorite for my oily skin. It feels lighter on my face, and while I don't find it "mattifying" it doesn't make my face shinier, as other sunscreens tend to.

Great Sunscreen - Bad Packaging
I love this sunscreen, it's light, slightly moisturizing but not at all greasy - but hate the tube w/pump...the pump doesn't get all the product out of the tube, and the clear plastic lid cracks and breaks because the tube changes shape over time as the product is dispensed. Please make the tube bigger, and get rid of the pump!

Great sunscreen but needs improvement
I've been using this product for years and it is the only daytime sunscreen product I've found that doesn't leave my skin shiny. I love the matte finish and it works so well under my makeup. I agree with the other reviews about the awful packaging and the separation problem. Mine almost always comes out runny, which makes it difficult to apply evenly. The pump and cap both need to be improved so they don't break. I wish it were available in a slightly higher SPF. But I use it despite these problems because it is still the best sunscreen ever. Best sunscreen for oily skin
I have tried so many different sunscreens and all of them have left my face looking and feeling greasy and have made me break out after. Even Paula's non-greasy SPF 15 sunscreen had the same effect on my skin. But this one was fantastic. It didn't turn my face white when I perspired during the day and it stayed matte all day! The best thing was I had no breakouts! It would be great if you could make something similar with a higher SPF.

Good product but poor packaging.
I like how the texture of the lotion feels on my skin. Does a good job of keeping my skin matt. Would be better if it could be of a higher spf. Agree with other reviewers that the packaging leaves much to be desired. The clear plastic cap cracked after just a few days of use. It would also be better to have a plain squeeze tube with a small orifice rather than the present pump which does not dispense a "clean" amount of lotion. Product still oozes out of the nozzle even when you've stopped pressing down on the pump.

Fantastic Summer Moisturizer!
I *love* this as a summer moisturizer! In humid Ontario, it gives a great finish to my skin. The mattifying effect works for most of the day. The packaging could be improved though. The cap breaks quite easily and it's hard to get the last 1/3 of the product out. You have to cut the tube and then the air affects the stability of the antioxidants.

Texture is great but...
I gave this a neutral rating because although the texture and feel of this product is absolutely great, it seems that no matter what foundation or powder I wear it under, my makeup will always turn an unflattering orange when I'm wearing this beneath it. Awesome
I have never tried a product like this before. I put it on my face and there was no shine! I mean it was just unbelivable how my face felt. It was moisturized and not shiny at all. Great product Paula! The only thing I had concern with is the cap. It would be great if cap popped open. The clear cap falls off and I cannot stand the tube, but otherwise I am completely happy!

Don't like this product!
I know this product got rave reviews but it is just horrible for me. It does not help control the oil on my face AND the main reason why I only gave 1 star is because there is some ingredient in there that is helping trap the heat in my face. I know that sounds weird but "sport block spfs" do this to me too. There's something in it, that doesn't allow my skin to breathe which makes my face extremely hot. I'll never buy this again. The texture of this is to die for. I mostly use Paula's non-greasy SPF 45 - higher SPF and more cost-effective for me - but this one's really my favorite for the warm weather.

Pump doesn't work
I've only had this one day, so I don't know yet how good it is for my skin, but I have to say the packaging isn't great. The pump did not work...I tried to get the lotion out for half an hour and finally had to cut the bottom off and put the lotion into another bottle. Also, why are we getting such a small amount for that price?

Does not work for me
I have oily skin and after reading the rave reviews, I was hoping that this product would be as "mattifying" as it claims to be. It provides NO mattifying effect whatsoever. In fact, it is greasy immediately after applying to clean, dry (non-grease-slicked) skin. I've also noticed that the batches are not consistent from one bottle to another. I give it two stars simply because of the sun protection, but if you want something that is NOT inherently greasy and WILL mattify your skin, this may not be it. Lovely
This has a great texture, and is moisturizing enough for my normal skin type. (I would say I'm on the oily side, but I use metrogel for rosacea and that dries me out--so I don't really need the skin balancing part as much). An SPF of 30 would be even better.

Doesn't sting eyes
This is the first sunscreen for my face that does not sting my eyes. I love it. I wish they would make one in a higher spf and a bigger bottle for some savings. But for now I buy in bulk when it goes on sale!

I'm embarassed to admit that I never put sunscreen on my face - even though I am very fair. I used to have extremely oily skin and bad acne. I was paranoid about sunscreen making it worse. I was lured into this by the "mattifying" description, and now I am officially a day-to-day sunscreen user. It's not really matte on my skin, but it gives a natural light shine that I top up with sheer foundation and loose powder.

Like the product, hate the packaging
I really like the product itself - it feels great on a skin and mattifies for a good half a day but the packaging is strange to me. A pump on a tube? Why it can't be just a tube or a just pump? The plastic cap breaks the first week of use on a third tube I bought. Please, Paula, consider repackaging.

Good product but needs to be reformulated to ensure the stability of Avobenzone. used to work; hate the packaging
The last time I bought this product my oily summer skin loved it. An Okay Product
This SPF moisturizer applies easily and absorbs instantly on the skin. It's a bit overpriced for the quantity. It does nothing to control oil or mattify. I wish she had a different type of tube, as the clear plastic lid breaks easily and/or won't stay on the tube.

this lotion is mattifying, but it leaves a shinning finish for some time after you applied it, and where comes all these small thing like plush? it's better that paula develop a new version that could leave a matt and no-shine finish, and it's not hydrating enough. but whoever want one product to be really hydrating and mattifying at the same time, day dreamer.

Irritating
My skin must be overly sensitive, because this product made it red and inflamed, almost like a sunburn. I'm going to return it. However, my skin WAS matte and it seemed to make my makeup last longer. So I think it would work well for someone with less sensitive skin.

Super Oily & Super Sensitive skin!!
I have been using this sunscreen every single day since it came out! My skin is as oily as a teenager's and also has major sensitivity issues. While at the end of the day my skin becomes noticeably oily (I couldn't expect a sunscreen to change it's true nature) and I've been in the hot Mediterranean for months, this applies so lightweight and never feels greasy compared to other sunscreens! Also, my skin is so sensitive it tends to get hives and rashes, or starts to sting and burn from no reason I can typically figure out, however I've NEVER had a problem with this product! Maybe those who have had reactions at the same time of using this product have done something else to trigger it?

Perfect summertime sunscreen!
I have pretty normal skin that tends to get slightly oily in the summer. Most greasy sunscreens don't help the situation. This is the perfect solution and, when used with a light moisturizer, is not too drying. Love it! Now that fall is here I am going to try Paula's Extra Care Non-Greasy Sunscreen.

Nice lotion - cheap packaging!
While I think the lotion is a terrific product, I probably won't continue to buy it. It's the 2nd time that the plastic top has shattered. The 1st time, the tube arrived twisted & wouldn't stand up so the top broke. The 2nd time shows it's just too cheaply made. Too bad! Best Product I've Used!
I love this product, but the packaging could be better - the cap always cracks, and the pump isn't always consistent. Also, I do get some shine with this product, but it feels great on my skin. I wish this came in SPF 30, which seems to be what dermatologists are recommending these days.

Love the lotion, hate the dispenser. It quit pumping when the tube was still half full. I cute off the bottom and squeeze it out from there, so it's not a real problem. Just giving you feedback. Love the product but hate the packaging. The hard plastic top cracks after a few uses and the pump dispenser stops dispensing product when the tube is still half full. I end up cutting the tube and scooping it out. My last tube seems to be more fluid in consistency so maybe it will dispense better.

Not good for sensitive skin
This moisturizer is good for normal to oily/combination skin and it does leave a matte finish , but it was slightly irritating to my skin. After applying it my skin became blotchy red. I do have sensitive skin but I thought it was good for people with sensitive skin also. Im assuming its the SPF in it thats irritating to my skin. This would be great for someone that does not have sensitive skin.

Good product, awful packaging
Another vote to change the terrible packaging! I'm on my 3rd tube and experienced the top cracking/need to cut the bottom that other reviewers noted. The product itself is smooth and makes my dry/combo skin silky. It's not moisturizing enough for me on a daily basis, but I love the broad spectrum sunscreen and nongreasy texture for exercising outdoors. I like the product, but I have to agree with other reviewers on the packaging. The plastic cap cracked within the first few weeks and the pump stopped working well as soon as the tube was more than half empty. A plain squeeze tube or even a plastic bottle would be preferable.

Not for me.
Sorry this product is not for me. I found that it didn't have enough coverage. Even after putting some water on my face and two pumps, I still found the moisturizer didn't spread well. At times I also felt that my face was sticky after application. My skin is more on the dehdrydrated/combination side. I also didn't like the plastic cap. Gets runny.
When I purchased this, it was a nice consistency, and even though I shake before every use, it is now very runny. And because it's runny, it's a bit hard to get a nice layer of it on your face. Not photostable UVA sunscreen
This is one of the few PC sunscreens that feels great on the skin, although a bit drying because of the "mattifying" ingredients. However, the avobenzone in this formulation is not photostable, making it useless as a UVA sunscreen. Huge disappointment as it's a good product otherwise. Like the product not the packaging
I like this product very much as it is the only sunscreen that does not cause break-outs. However, I do find it fairly expensive. Worse, is that so much product is left in the tube after the pump has pumped all it can. I have to cut open the tube and put the rest of the product in another bottle that lasts me for a long time. Please redesign the packaging to make it easier to use all the product we paid for.

Bad Packaging
Have bought this product 3 times because I like how it works. The packaging is very problematic though. Each time I lose a lot of product because the pump breaks and will no longer dispense and essentially it ends up being a waste of money. By that time the return policy has run out. Please fix this since I am tired of spending a lot of money on half of a product which is why I will only give it two stars. Packaging
Dear Paula, Please let me first say I have been using your product for years and love it! I recently switched to the skin balancing line and it has done wonders for my skin, so thank you! I was wondering about the packaging for the SKIN BALANCING DAILY MATTIFYING LOTION... I have not had one tube where the cover did not crack or had problems with the pump. Packaging is dumb
I love the moisturizer but the bottle design is dumb. Standing a pump upside down doesn't work. If I put the pump up, it knocks over including other things in my medicine cabinet. Love the product, but packaging is horrible
The lotion is light and comfortable, but the packaging is so annoying. The clear cap doesn't fit right. The last 1/4 of the product doesn't come out of that stupid tube. Will buy again when they change the packaging.

Fantastic Product
This moisturizer has sunscreen protection without being heavy...and that's hard to find. It really does help to matte my oily skin, too. I'd give the product 5 stars, but I have to knock one off for the packaging. The pump is suuuuuper finicky and the plastic cap cracks and breaks after only a few uses. This is my second purchase of it, and both products have had the exact same packaging defaults. I've had annoying packaging problems with other products as well, so it is a testament to how incredible Paula's products are that despite the irritating packaging problems, I keep buying!

LOVE IT!
I have had constant problems with my skin for over 12 years. Oily skin, sensitive skin, acne and now agin skin. All the treatments I tried either made my skin worse or I had allergies to. I recently tried Paula's choice products and I have better results than I even imagined, from day one my skin looked healthier and as every day has gone on I am still seeing improvement. Great!!
I purchased cleanser, toner and the daily mattifying lotion/sunscreen. The others are good but this product is amazing! It keeps the shine off your T-zone and helps makeup stay on all day. Plus it protects you from sun exposure. Now that I tried this, I'm not sure I can live without it.

Great Product, Not so great packaging
While I really like this product its frustrating that so much of it remains in the tube that will not dispense because it settles around the tube that pumps it out. I had to cut it open to access the product that still remained inside which I'm sure helps to degrade the product in some way. You may want to think of a better way to package it so that the maximum amount can be utilized. Perhaps a squeeze-type tube instead. Customer Care Response: Thank you for your review. Not Mattifying
I bought this product thinking it would actually be "mattifying" but it was far from it. It moisturizes well but do not believe it is mattifying. I didn't think I was that oily skin but this product makes my skin feel very oily. Buyer beware if you have oily skin because the mattifying effects of this product is questionable. Great matte effect, okay moisture
I have very oily skin,so even when using this I need to re-powder my t-zone during the day. BUT it is the best mattifying lotion I've tried so far. In the summer, it's perfect. In the winter, it's not quite moisturizing enough. Also, it doesn't make for a very smooth makeup application, but that's because it's so mattifying.

Love it, but...
Wish this 1) came in a larger size -- it's expensive and I feel like I'm reordering all the time, and 2) came in a higher SPF. Still, I think this is a great product and doesn't leave that white film on your face that some sunscreens do.

This is the very first moisturizer w/ SPF that keeps my combination, acne prone skin MATTE and I don't even need to set it with powder ever. Applying powder over a moisturizer have always felt heavy on my skin that I oftentimes would just go out without sunscreen. Now, I can really apply this stuff liberally without worrying about ending up with that dreaded oily glow in 1-2 hours. I love that this stuff has no fragrance which makes it super gentle on my skin. I apply it after usingPaula's Choice BHA gel and 5%benzoyl peroxide (from Paula's CLEAR system) and my acne is under control. Thank Paula for all your work.

Simply AMAZING
WOW! I no more excuse for not applying sunscreen liberally. Since many other sunscreens left my face with an oily glow, I just applied it whenever I felt like it. Sorry Paula, but this product just didn't do it for me. I've been using the Daily Mattifying Lotion and thought that now that my skin is a dryer, I would try this one. Unfortunately, it left a white cast on my skin and was WAY too heavy and oily. I wish you had a Moisturizer/sunscreen that was for 'normal - dry' skin, not just oily or super dry. LOVE IT!
I've been using this product for a long time now. It leaves my normal to dry skiin perfectly in balance. It goes on well under make-up too! I have no problem with the pump-tube container, in fact, it's so airtight, that I get every last drop out of it! Sure the cap cracks or eventually I loose it, but obviously the packaging is airtight as the tube shrinks down as it empties. LOVE IT PAULA!

Wonderful Product; Horrible Packaging!
Every single tube of the Skin Balancing Daily Mattifying Lotion I have purchased, have all malfunctioned! The product itself is wonderful. But inevitably, the pump will stop working, and the cap will break. In addition, the product appears to have a separation problem, as it will often be dispensed as a thin and watery layer of solution. Terrible packaging - great product!
The product is wonderful but the packaging is terrible. Only after a couple of uses the pump is broken and now it's just a mess to even try to use. I have contacted customer service and I'm waiting for a response.

Pure Mineral Sunscreen Greasy
After trying five times to use this sunscreen in humid or cool weather, it still feels greasy. I have combination skin with more patches of dry skin and slightly oily patches. Luckily, I have not broken out, but I am very cautious about using moisturizers since I have developed adult acne and I don't want a terrible flare up. However, the moisturizer feels so greasy I cannot wait to wash it off, and it leaves a white residue which gives my skin a grayish cast. I wear a light powder foundation and it does not wash off when I wear this sunscreen, which concerns me that it will begin to clog my pores during wear, even if I use a toner to remove excess make-up. great but room for improvement - some suggestions
I really like this sunscreen and all the good stuff in it - however is there ever going to be a UVA spf 30 in this same formula? I'm sure it would be popular! Also, will you ever add octocrylene as one of the sunscreen agents to make it more effective and long wearing? Thanks!

Skin Balancing Daily Mattifying Lotion SPF 15
This is the most best daytime moisturizer with SPF that I've ever used. And with my acne-prone combination skin, it's been a looooong hunt to find an effective sunscreen that didn't end up as a massive oil slick. I apply generously, wait 10-20 minutes, and my makeup goes on smoothly over it. One wish: better packaging -- the cap cracks easily and doesn't stay put. Overall, this is a wonderful product. I'm so glad to have discovered Paula, both for this product and the many others that have made such a difference for me.

Using every last bit
I'd quit using this as it seemed "too light" - how could it be protecting me from the sun? I felt I needed to be greased up (with stinging eyes). After reading the reviews, I tried it again and now love it. When I couldn't get another drop out of the tube, I cut it open. I was able to re-seal it by placing the tube in a snack-size plastic bag (left unsealed), then placing that in a Ziploc vacuum-seal bag and using the hand-pump to seal out all the air. I opened and re-sealed the it several times, used every last bit, and am looking forward to re-ordering a wonderful product. Thank you!

Amazing finish!
This is my favorite of Paula's products. I've been using all the steps in routine for a few months plus a retinol product from my dermatologist. My combination skin is clear and looks healthy. This product is my favorite because of its matte finish. It quickly absorbed and made my face a perfect canvas.

Great sunscreen
I have rosacea and oily skin and it is difficult to find non-irritating and non-greasy daily sunscreen. I'm also very fair and live in FL so sunscreen is a must! This is my favorite daily sunscreen - it's not thick and greasy and works beautifully under makeup. Only one small negative - it is not as mattifying on me as the description suggests. However, I begin with the sunscreen, let it dry, then use a mattifying makeup primer - seems to be the perfect combination for me.

Thank you for coming up with this formula. I thought it would aggravate my eczema but it did NOT. I also like it because it doesn't clog my pores and it isn't occlusive so I can just put this on and not have to wear foundation. Please do not discontinue this!

Mattifying? Nothing Mattifying about it...
I LOVE Paula Begoun & all her knowledge and information on skin care and have the hugest respect for her in the cosmetics industry, however this product for oily skin only personally made my skin much more oilier than it really was, knwoing that Paula's skin type is also oily, I had figured she would understand those concerns well enough for those with oily skin. Great for my oily skin
I received a sample of this product and immediately loved it. My face is very oily and this product goes on very light. I was suprised by the texture - it is quite liquid, so it is immediately absorbed into the skin. I love that this product is wholesome - mattifying with SPF and anti-oxidants. Very well rounded! A couple of people mentioned that it leaves a white cast - it does seem to do that, but my face is flour white as it is, so it is no big deal for me. I stopped using my old moisturizer and replaced it with this one and my skin looks way better. This is the very first product that I tried in the Paula's Choice line and have already placed an order for the cleanser and toner.

As the name said, it should be light and mattifying.When I bought it, my skin was combination to dry. Now my skin is so extremely oily that I hate it and my make up is destroyed after an hour! Great product, terrible packaging
This product is very good and is indeed matte, but, many Paula's Choice products, the packaging is truly terrible. The cap doesn't stay on, but the sunscreen will only dispense if you leave it open side down, so I'm forced to prop it up against other bottles and often I still have problems pumping it out! Should I reapply Skin Balancing Daily Mattifying Lotion during the day?
For casual wear, meaning less than four hours total time out in the sun, it is not necessary to reapply sunscreen as you will be protected all day. If you are perspiring or just spending a longer period of time outdoors, it should be reapplied.

If I wish to maintain the mattifying benefit of this product, should I apply it at night, too?
We don't recommend wearing any sunscreen at night because the actives aren't needed in the evening and provide no other benefit for skin. Instead, use our Skin Balancing Super Antioxidant Mattifying Concentrate. You'll maintain a matte finish while reserving the sun protection in Skin Balancing Daily Mattifying Lotion for daytime, when skin needs it most.
