Directions: After cleansing, soak a large cotton ball or pad with Skin Balancing Toner and gently stroke over the face. Do not rinse off. Follow with moisturizer and/or specialty product.
What do toners "tone"? I thought Paula didn't recommend toners!
Paula has always recommended toners that are well-formulated. Toners can be a great after-cleansing step to be sure you've removed all your makeup. When properly formulated, they soothe skin and add hydrating ingredients to make skin softer, not to mention they're another leave-on source for antioxidants and other ingredients that improve skin's healthy functioning.
How do I know which toner is right for me? Besides skin type, what are the main differences between the four Paula's Choice toners?
All of our toners restore skin, help remove last traces of makeup, are alcohol- and fragrance-free, and contain no unnecessary irritants such as menthol, peppermint, and citrus oils. They are great as an adjunct to a more thorough cleansing routine, especially post-workout or in hot/humid climates. Even more significantly they go beyond the basics by offering skin benefits you can see and feel.
Healthy Skin Refreshing Toner is an excellent choice for normal to oily/combination skin. It provides a weightless finish, and although it feels very light, it supplies skin with potent antioxidants and anti-irritants. Healthy Skin Refreshing Toner is a great option for those who want more protection and a soothing, soft, feeling on their skin, particularly those with sensitive skin. To get the benefits of both toners for normal to oily/combination skin, you may want use Healthy Skin Refreshing Toner in the morning and Skin Balancing Toner in the evening.
Moisture Boost Hydrating Toner contains ingredients that help soothe and restore normal to dry skin, plus it includes a greater amount of glycerin, a key ingredient to make dry skin look and feel better. It also contains a broad range of ingredients that aid the barrier repair process so those with dry skin (or normal skin with occasional dry patches) will receive even more benefit from their Paula's Choice moisturizer and/or specialty product. Moisture Boost Hydrating feels lighter than our Skin Recovery Toner, yet still provides an array of antioxidants, anti-irritants, and skin-protecting ingredients. To get the benefits of both toners for normal to dry skin, you can use Moisture Boost Hydrating Toner in the morning and Skin Recovery Toner in the evening.
Skin Recovery Toner for normal to very dry skin is an excellent choice for those who need more help protecting their skin from environmental damage or dryness. Skin Recovery Toner has a richer texture than any of our other toners and contains more plant oils and other emollients than our Moisture Boost Hydrating Toner. This is a great option for dry to very dry skin, extremely sun damaged skin, or those dealing with eczema or rosacea accompanied by dry skin.
Skin Balancing Toner for normal to oily/combination skin is excellent for protecting skin from environmental damage or dryness. In addition, its cell-communicating ingredients can, in theory, help balance skin so its oily areas do not worsen or lead to reddened or blemished skin. Skin Balancing Toner uses a more complex formulation than our Healthy Skin Refreshing Toner, and helps restore normal cell function.

Paula, your Skin Balancing Toner is the best! It should be in everyone's skin care regimine. I have stayed away from toners as I got older because they have always been so drying. Not yours. Skin Balancing toner

Look at other reviews and how similar they look. Everybody just "loves, loves" this product. I tried it - nothing special. And in general, most of Paula's products that I tried don't deliver what they promise.

Skin Balancing Toner
I tried this toner after my skin broke out and it cleared it up. It's all I use on my skin now after washing. My skin is dry on top and oily underneath. It makes my skin softer and keeps the breakouts and blackheads away! Please don't ever discontinue this product!

Good toner
I'm not really sure what a toner is supposed to do... but this is a cool product. For some reason it has an exothermic reaction to my face, the first time I used it, it started to get hot as it dried! Anyway, it does a good job getting rid of the last traces of makeup, and when it 'dries' it leaves skin feeling nice and hydrated. Combined with the 8% AHA exfoliant and the Super Antioxidant Concentrate, my skin feels really good and supple.

Adverse Reaction
I have oily t zone and normal skin elsewhere. 1st use made my skin tingle. Parts of my face starts getting red with each use. By the 3rd to 4th day i broke out in various parts of my face.

Great Product
I have a combination skin, dry on my cheeks and oily on the T zone. for a long time I used a toner from a major beauty store (seph...)with no results. It was just water with some floral fragrance.
Now I use Paula's toner and I can see the difference. My skin feels soft, with an even tone and no more shine.

Causes skin to break out
I have tried all of your toners and they all make my skin break out, I want to like them so much b/c I think my skin would look and feel better if I could just find a toner to help in the exfoliation process. I am desparate to find a toner that is Achohol Free, Witch Hazel Free and Fragrance Free and was so hopeful here. I'm disappointed that all these toners break me out. I'm past the 60 days and have tried using these toners on other parts of my body just to use them up, they break me out a little on my legs and arms, so have settled for trying to use them up on my feet. It seems other people are having the same break out problem, what could it be???? I use Paula's other exfoliation products, AHA and BHA and also have some break outs with them too. It is these under the skin, irritated, raised bumps that I end up messing with. Could it be glycerin that is causing the break-outs. I have addressed this toner issue before and got no-where with the staff and got no response when I emailed Paula.

Every man should own this product,
I used to get razor bumps--the bane of many of men. They came unpredictably, and even worse, they seemed to be resistant to everything, including Paula's Choice Razor Relief (which is probably a good product for some people, but it didn't work even slightly for me). Anyway, on a lark, I started using this product as an aftershave, and for the past two years, it's a very, very rare thing to get razor burn. My skin seems to have improved dramatically from this product (incidentally, I also love PC shaving gel).
I have been a devoted customer to this line for many years, and every now and then I try products in other lines that are recommended by Paula. I am frequently disappointed (though not always). Most of Paula's Choice products are unparalleled, and this is most definitely one of them.

I really thaks for paulaschoice's cosmetic. After I used 1 week these, my skin is not oily and my pimples are gone! It is amazing! I'm an international student, so my english is nit good. Thus, I don't want to write anything on internet, but paulaschoice's cosmetic are really fantastic! I really recomend these things! I bought 5steps, blemish fighting solution, one more toner(healthy skin refreshing) and exfoliating treatment. All of them are my favorite item! I have tried a lot of Paula's products over the years with mixed results- some great, some so-so. I have some mild eczema patches on my face and my skin has responded really well to this toner.

Big Change!

I love PC products and have had great results for the past 6 years! So, I feel almost disloyal saying this, but I didn't like this and won't repurchase it. It felt a bit slick on my face and I had more problems breaking out with it compared to my old (discontinued PC toner). So, I have switched to Paula's Healthy Skin Refreshing Toner and much prefer it's texture, plus my skin is clear again. IMHO use that instead!

Good Product
After applying this product, my skin feels smooth and glowing, but it seems to be temporary. I'm not sure what toner does and whether it is really necessary like exfoliator or night cream. I guess this is something nice you do to your skin.

This toner has done right by me over the years, and I prefer it slightly to the healthy skin refreshing toner ever so slightly because it's as moisturizing (I already have oily skin to the max!). It isn't irritating, and my anti-acne regimen just isn't as effective when I accidentally run out of it.

Toner Irritates My Skin
My daughter and I love Paula's products, however the Skin Balancing Toner is very irritating to my skin. It burns, turns my skin bright red, and then I breakout with red bumps.I would really like to know what ingredient is causing this problem. Based on several other reviews, it seems to be a recurring issue. I recently received a sample of the Skin Recovery toner and so far that is working much better. In fact, it feels really great on my skin!

Great product...BAD packaging
Love the Toner but the bottle top insert has a tendency to stick inside the top. If you're not paying attention you can lose a lot of product (ask me how I know) You would be best served to replace the insert and top with a flip-top from another product, like the cleanser.

confused
I really don't know where come all these good reviews, I don't like this toner at all, it doesn't feel refreshing, and it leaves film of oilness, and it does not help acne treatment at all.
