Amazing!!!
This product has been like a miracle for me! In the past I had wounds and lacerations to my face and arms. I eventually got multiple V-beam and Fraxel procedures (as of Saturday I'll be 27 years old). I had been considering another go with Fraxel, but decided to give this product a try first. WOW! It made an overnight change in my skin's texture and after about a week I could see a difference in even-ness/tone as well. This is a wonderful product and I can't recommend it enough. It has cut down my makeup application time greatly because I don't have so much to hide! Thank you so much Paula and all the Paula's Choice/Cosmetic Cop team. Great product but the packaging...
I have been using this product for years and love it. However, your new packaging is somewhat perplexing although it's quite attractive. First there's less product, same price. On the otherhand I don't have to use an alternate container because it meets the TSA guidelines. But, because of the pump it's really too big to get in that little quart bag. I thought no problem, the cap from the old container works so I'll just dispense with the pump for the trip not realizing that the container was hard sided and the product was difficult to get out without the pump. How about making a travel size or going back to the softer sided container. I'm sure those of us who travel would appreciate it.

Good product, but broke me out.
I don't think I'm being too forgiving when I rate this product 4 stars, despite the fact that it broke out my cheeks fairly consistently throughout the 3-4 week period I used it. I have very oily skin; it's obnoxious really, and this product dries to a matte, imperceptible finish in less than a minute. Despite the breakouts I've attributed to this, it definitely made my skin feel much smoother in about a week of use. The improvement in visible texture was minor, but my skin is actually fairly nice when it's not reacting to something. I think I'll experiment with the BHAs from now on til I find the sweet spot for my skin; I just hope I can find something that my skin sucks up like it does this gel, because the finish of this gel is surprising, to say the least. Amazing Product!
I am an 18 year old guy and I am in love with this product! I have fairly oily skin but I actually prefer this over BHA products. I feel like this helps just as much as a BHA in providing razor burn relief and it also prevents it just as well. The only time I reolace this with BHA is when I have active acne because the BHA absolutely works better at reducing acne. This has a wonderful texture and never pills up when products are applied on top of this. Anyone interested should buy this. Paula has a great returm policy and her customer service team is more than willing to help if you decide to return the product. A+++

Great product!
I've been obsessed with makeup and skincare products since I was a teenager, but I only recently discovered Paula's Choice through my sister. I used to spend a lot of money on products that didn't seem to do much, although I've never tried an exfoliant. I read a few reviews of this product and decided I should probably start using this to clear my dead skin cells and to rejuvenate my complexion. After using the product for about two weeks, I can say that I'm really impressed! My skin looks bright and healthy, and I have not developed a single blemish since I've begun using this. I am lucky to not have acne-prone skin, but I feel that this product really does a good job of making skin look polished and fresh, and even though I was worried that it would dry out my skin (I have normal-dry skin), I haven't had any problems with dryness at all! Side note - I also use this product on my arms, as I've always had little bumps on my upper arms, and I can tell that they're slowly disappearing.

This stuff is great. It was not a product I would have immediately thought would help me, however when I finally broke down and purchased a bunch of samples of paulas products (after dealing with my adult acne for seven years, on and off, with mass-marketed products from walmart)
I thought Hmm, well, i've never used an AHA exfoliant, so I wonder what it does? Well, what it does for *me* is magic.
I did not use it for about a month of having the samples, and had already fell in love with the 2% BHA liquid from PC, and had never before used glycolic acid so when I finally took the plunge I felt some stinging during my first application- lord, I washed it off after ten minutes. I continued with my regular routine (PC skin perfecting 2% BHA liquid) and and it was the day for my my twice weekly application of 10% benzoyl peroxide. The next morning, my previously zits were FLAT. Flat! They did not hurt anymore, though still red. I thought it was a fluke, so I ordered still more samples of this product. Again, same effect. it was glorious. This time I believed it and ordered a full size bottle and yes, my previously angry pimples are today much flatter, much less painful. I love this product and cannot wait to see what longer term use will do for the rest of my skin!!

Amazing!
I have been using Paula's choice products for almost 2 years now and will never stop. They have completely changed my skin. I get comments all the time about how great my skin looks, how smooth it is, how I have no wrinkles. Part of my regimen is using the 8% AHA gel religiously. It has single-handedly changed my skin. Smoothed it out, gotten rid of fine wrinkles. If i had to only use one product (which would be crazy!), I would hold on to this one. Can't say enough good things. I will tell all my dermatologist friends in training about this line.

Beware: Loses Effectiveness Quickly!
I received a sample of this product and was amazed at the immediate result of glowing skin.
Fast forward a few weeks later and my skin looks horrible! As a former acne sufferer I feel traumatized by all the small pimples I see forming. I haven't had a pimple in years and in just a few weeks this product has managed to completely screw up my complexion. My skin is rough, dryish and broken out! It is hard to know exactly which ingredient, combination of ingredients, or outside factors contributed to your skin responding negatively to this product. It can be difficult to identify which ingredient in any formula, even a well-formulated one, which could be causing breakouts and dryness. Never again
I have been using the 2% BHA liquid for several months now and I think it's wonderful. I decided to try the 8% AHA gel even though several people said it made them break out. I couldn't understand why it would do that. Anyhow after about 3 days of using the AHA gel I noticed a couple of zits on my face, and I hadn't gotten any with the BHA lotion. So I thought I would just use the AHA gel on my chest and neck to use it up. After 2 nights of applying it there I noticed a zit on my chest. I won't be using this product again. I am 57 years old with good skin, no wrinkles anywhere, however I did have red areas and mild rosacea so I was looking for something to help with that and I found it. This product did for my skin, in 2 days, what no other product I have ever used has been able to. No more red areas my skin is plumped up and I can't even see my pores. I will NEVER be without it again. Try it you will not be disappointed.

not sure if it works
My skin is very normal, not oily or dry, so I had a difficult time selecting which products to try. I have never tried an AHA product, so I purchased this. I'm really not sure if it had an effect. I did not have any adverse reaction to it. But I don't think I noticed much of a difference. I used it for about 3-4 weeks before purchasing the 2% BHA gel, and I think that works better for exfoliating my skin. Blemishes are gone!
I've used all of Paula's BHA & AHA exfoliants on my oily/normal, acne-prone, sensitive skin. While the info here indicates that BHA is better for acne and oil, it's the AHA that has transformed my skin. I'm 31 years old and have been breaking out for 20 years, and my skin has never been so clear and healthy-looking as it is now with this AHA product. If I do get a pimple, it quickly resolves after I apply the AHA. So, for those of you with acne, don't hesitate to give this a try; it may work for you, too. I know I'll never be without it.

Unlike some products, this seems to go on smoothly and absorb into skin-- leaving no oily feel or residue. Does not irritate my skin AT ALL, and seems to leave skin feeling softer.

Outstanding!
I originally got this to use on my body, thinking it would be helpful with sun damage on my chest, shoulders and upper back from a few summers of tanning my very pale skin, and I have to say that it really is helpful! However, I accidentally put this on my face a few weeks ago instead of the 2% BHA gel (easy to mix them up if you don't read the label) and noticed that it absorbed into my skin so much better than the BHA. I was torn because I didn't want to skip the BHA, which has given me perfectly clear skin for the first time ever, but of course my sunscreen and makeup looked and felt so much better over this AHA gel. So now I'm using the 2% BHA gel at night (with the new retinol serum, which I also love) and this 8% AHA gel in the morning, and it seems like this combination (also using the weekly 10% AHA) is absolutely PERFECT! All my PC products work beautifully together to give me skin that I can't even believe is mine. I never wear makeup during the week any more and people constantly tell me how pretty my skin is.

Zeal without understanding. . . . .
I was introduced to Paula's choice 2% BHA skin perfecting liquid by a friend who gave me a sample. it actually changed my skin overnight. such that my father commented on how great my skin looked. now, in my excitement i ordered 8% AHA which unfortunately did not work as well on my obstinate skin. so i would say good product for skin that is less troubled. Seriously phenomenal!
My bottle arrived with a crack down the cap (this is the old design) so it leaked into the box but it was easy to transfer it into another bottle and I am so glad I managed to salvage most of it because this AHA exfoliant is simply amazing. It is light, non-sticky and sinks in very quickly (especially when compared to the 2% BHA gel). So, I use this in the morning when I don't have time to wait for creams/gels to sink in and the results are nothing short of amazing. The BHA I use at night clears out my pores and this AHA smoothens, firms and clarifies my skin and this combination is working perfectly for me! A definite must-have for anyone looking for great skin!

Will not be without!
This along with the BHA liquid are two products I can not live without. The BHA keeps my pores clean and cystic acne under control and this AHA gel keeps my skin smooth. I have used these two products for years along with Retin-A.
I tried the Resist line of AHA's and sadly there are too many silicone ingredients for my skin. I only wish Paula would come out with products that are silicone free.

I think Paula's Choice may have the BEST customer service I have ever experienced on and offline. After writing a simple review saying how much I loved the product only the pump would come off sometimes, I had no idea that they would send me a new bottle to replace it. That's unheard of! Too strong for my skin
I had been using the BHA 2% but decided to try a sample of the 8% AHA. I have normal to dry fair skin, and it broke my cheeks out terribly. Had rosy, irritated cheeks for several days. This stuff is a miracle! Everything has already been said pretty much. Just perfect looking skin! The only bad thing is the new packaging. While it looks nice, more then half the time everytime i go to pump out the product the pump, along with the spring mechanism comes FLYING OFF! and of course putting it back on involves placing the spring back into place and pressing the pump back down which always wastes product which kind of sux... other then that it's perfect! I have the old packaging and one of the things I like best about it is that it says exactly what it is "8% AHA Gel". Some products have a title (like Age Rewind or Youth Code) that don't tell you what they actually are. I think this is one product that 'packs the most punch' in skincare. My dry skin is smoother, my redness is evening out. I did have a little flaking right at first but I knew it was a part of the initial exfoliation process so I wasn't concerned. That resolved after 1-2 weeks. I am thrilled that Paula offers excellent skincare at a reasonable cost. She has earned my trust as a consumer.

A Must-Have Product
I use a variety of Paula's products, but this is one I could never do without. Overnight, my skin is softened, smoothed, and moisturized. Over time, I've been impressed with the way it's minimized fine lines and evened my skin tone, too. I avoid putting it on my chin, which is particularly prone to breakouts, but apply it liberally everywhere else and love the consistent results. It's a staple of my skincare routine.

LOVE IT!
This is a little drying but I put it on every night in the summer and alternate it every night with the 2% bha liquid in the winter. It really seems to clear my pores and keep breakouts to a minimum. I feel it is too drying to put around my eye area though.

great product. now apart of my regime
I'm 21 and use the 8% AHA gel 1) to start early against wrinkles, and 2) exfoliate at night. This is my first paula product and I tried it as a sample. I'm now buying the full size because it doesn't burn my skin (which is fair, a little sensitive, and combination)and it actually works. I use it at night and it really does fade the marks left after pimples. I'll get pimples once in awhile but mainly get 3-4 small bumps when it's really hot or on my cheeks where it's dry. This gel gets rid of the little bumps, fades the dark marks, and pretty much prevents any forming pimples. It's now apart of my daily regime.

Works Great!!
I have been an avid fan of Paula's products for quite a few years now. I've used Retin A for my acne prone skin and that has always proven to be too dry. I even used Paula's BHA products for a few years now thinking they were the best for my breakouts. Well, I decided to just use the AHA exfoliant twice a day and I have not had a breakout since! My skin is clear and smooth!!! I love this product!! I'm glad I tried it instead of thinking I only needed a BHA product because I was acne prone. I do get a little tingly sensation when I first put it on, but after like a few minutes it's gone. It's definitely worth the wonders it does for my skin!

Perfection in a bottle!
I have sensitive, combination-to-oily, acne-prone skin. I have used AHA products on my face on and off for several years. And, this product is one that truly outshines the rest!
It does not leave my face highly red and feeling sore like so many other glycolic acid products do. There's no detectable odor to the product. So, there's nothing in it to irritate my sinuses. It has a silky smooth texture to it. And, it makes my face look smooth and glowing.

Forgot how great it is!
I'm 49 and stopped using Paula's 8% AHA while I gave Retin-A a try. I quit using Retin-A for the summer due to sun sensitivity. After a couple months my skin was really looking dull and lifeless so a few days ago I decided to use the AHA lotion. WOW!!! I noticed a difference the very next morning and each day my skin has become smoother and has a glow that I thought was permanently gone! At this point I'm not sure I'll even need to go back to Retin-A.

Amazing results!
I was amazed the first time I tried a sample of this product. I used it for a week (I was scraping the sides of the packet to get every drop!)and was amazed at how it evened out my skin color and created a smooth base for makeup. Great exfoliant for my sensitive skin
Love this product. It works to exfoliate without irritating my sensitive skin. I use the one step face cleanser for normal to dry skin and this product faithfully and have seen really nice improvements in my skin. No more mysterious bumps from irritation. Caused breakouts
Though I did notice an improvement in the overall tone and texture of my skin, unfortunately this gel caused me to breakout on my nose. I had hoped it was just a purging process and would eventually stop, but after 2 weeks of blemishes and no end in sight, I gave up. I'm going to return and give the 2% BHA Liquid a try instead. Poor quality, and a poor product
This product has to be the worst I have ever used. It doesn't contain a single vitamins, etc. It contains way too many parabens!! it makes my skin to irritated, and I've broken out because of this product. it hasn't done much for my skin. it appears the same way it always has, although its more irritated than before.it also has a very unpleasant scent. A big plus for my routine
This product, possibly working in combination with my other products, it seems to provide me smoother skin, less deep wrinkles, than without it. I noticed the difference after running out and not using it for a while. I use it almost every day at night or during the day when I do not go outdoors.

Incredible Results!
For the first time in my life I am struggling with acne--and I am in my mid-30's. I stumbled upon Paula's Choice products while searching the internet for some type of solution for my recent skin issues. After only 5 days of using the 8 % AHA and the Acne fighting treatment, I have a completely new face. Not only have my blemishes almost disappeared, my skin is radiant. It feels as soft as my 15 month old niece's skin and the brown spot I had is almost gone. I never expected results like this. Still waiting
After reading all of Paula's books, and the reviews on this product, I decided to see for myself. I am using it as directed and I am still waiting for the response that everyone else seems to be getting. I am sure in some way it exfoliates, however the extent of "my skin GLOWED after the first use" seems far fetched. I will continue to use for the next 8 weeks and if I get different results I'll give it a higher rating.

Great product!
My daughter and I really love this product! She and I both use it every other day to handle our minor acne breakouts. To be honest it does burn my face when I put it on but it goes away after a few minutes. Sometimes I use Paula's Skin Relief Treatment for the burning and it subsides very quickly. I've been using the BHA at night and every other morning I use the AHA. It does a great job in keeping my skin clear. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a great exfoliant!

One evil down, one created
While giving a nice "glow", I was left with severe break outs that I haven't had since I was pubescent! I have dry skin, but I'm thinking of trying the BHA to help exfoliate and hopefully not break out.

My Favorite!
I was looking for a new scrub, and a friend recommend using an exfoliant with glycolic acid. I thought I'd try Paula's. This is now by far my favorite Paula's Choice product! It completed my skin care routine. My moisturizer is so much more effective now! I love using this and literally seeing how smooth my skin gets. It doesn't irritate my skin either, which is remarkable in itself. This is a must have for me!

Best AHA I've tried
From what I've read, glycolic acid really is the only thing that does deliver on the promise of reducing skin discolorations, giving a glow to your skin, etc. I've tried Reversa and Neostrata - they either burned my skin or made my skin super oily and caused major break-outs. I was hesitant to give this AHA a shot, but ordered it anyway. This is a great product. It's listed for normal to dry skin, but it works reallllly well on my oily skin. I have not had one break-out due to this product and it has never burned my skin - although, if you have sensitive skin, try a sample first. I use this at night along with the 2%BHA with good results(I guess I don't have very sensitive skin because I've not had a problem with this combo). The thing is, you have to be consistent and patient and not expect a miracle. No topical over-the-counter product, regardless of cost, will make a 40-year old look 20 again. But using the right product consistently and using a great sunblock every day will make you look like a fabulous 40-year old!

Incredible results
I am a recent convert to PC. I have been using the cleansers, skin recovery toner, 2% BHA gel,skin recovery antioxidant concentrate, and the new Resist with great results. I decided to try the 8% AHA gel at night along with the antioxidant and Resist and the BHA in the morning. I was a little hesitent because I have sensitive skin. OMG. I couldn't believe my skin. After only 2 days. I thought my skin was looking good before, but after adding the 8% AHA gel, my skin is at the next level. Super smooth. I was never a toner person, but I do believe the skin recovery toner preps my skin for the exfoliants, so my skin isn't irritated. I use the all in one cleanser in the a.m. (keep in shower), the skin recovery toner, then the 2% BHA gel, wait until this drys and then add my favorite sunscreen. In the p.m. I use the skin recovery cleanser with a wash cloth, the toner, 8% AHA gel, skin recovery antioxidant, and the the Resist. My skin really looks lovely and I am 52 years old. Also the prices can't be beat for the results you get!

Stands The Test of Time
I have been using Paula's AHA gel for almost 9 yrs (I'm 47). People think I've had Botox or laser treatments my skin is so smooth. The key is consistency; I cleanse, apply the AHA,and finish with a moisturizer--EVERY night. It really works.

i love to try paulas AHA and wish she had another one.I feel it must be the chamomile flowetrs that mifght have caused my red eyes that i could not use it any more a pity cause i am confident it would help my skin if my eyes did not hurt.i gave it to my daughter.please Paula can you make one without the chamomile flowers. i love your other products i would give an A plus for thenm

Surprisingly Effective
I wasn't expecting to like this exfoliant more than the 2% BHA Exfoliating Liquid, but the results are phenomenal. I've using the AHA gel once a day for about two weeks and it's just enough to make my skin glow without any flakiness or irritation.

Amazing Results!!
I never thought I would need or understood exfoliation until I started using Paulas products. Within a week of using her complete skin recovery & AHA 8% acid my skin is glowing. I don't require foundation anymore and my skin feels soft the entire day especially with the cold Minnesota winters. Shocked at the results
As a 22 y.o. male with blemish prone skin, I always wondered if it was possible to have super smooth and soft skin that females have. Stings like crazy, but well worth it
This product makes my ultra sensitive skin sting like crazy on initial application, but if waited out and a moisturiser applied over the top subsides eventually. The clear, flake free skin you wake up with the next morning makes five minutes of uncomfortable well worth it in the end though.

I use it on my body
This is a great product to use not only on your face, but on your legs, arms, etc. I spreads easily so a little goes a very long way, dries up nicely so no greasy feel. I use this instead of the 10% body lotion because that one has a terrible smell and this no smell once it's dry.

Nice product
I have always stayed away from AHA's because they burned my sensitive, fair skin like the devil (I hadn't tried yours, though). Plus, as a teen and in my early-to-mid twenties, exfolation wasn't really an issue. Now, in my late twenties and facing very early menopause, I really needed something. Scrubs weren't helping me and they were actually irritating me more. So I bought seven sample packets of this, deciding to try it for a week (just to make sure it didn't break me out or really irritate me badly). It stings slightly the first couple days, but just a tad, and it really has lessened the flaky skin I had. Also, I have a youthful, radiant glow that I haven't possessed since I was a very little girl. Within two days, my skin looked so good I no longer needed to wear makeup (as I had done since I was ten...)Thank you!

Great for sun damaged skin

Ingrediant List - Look!
Paula has always talked about what is "good" and what are "fillers" in other products. So my concern here are the amount of "PARABENS" in this product. The last few ingrediants that end with the word "paraben" have been controversial because they have been known to be cancer causing perservatives. I don't understand why this product has these ingrediants especially since all Paula talks about is good skin care. I didn't even read the ingrediants before I purchased the product on trust of what Paula preaches but then I took a second look and was shocked. I will be returning this product.

Important part
I've only just start using this. This product seems to be a key component in the care of ones skin. My face is already smoother, and the second of importance is the anti-antioxidant. Clear and Glowing!
I have super sensitive skin, that easily turns red an irritated. I can't use any amount of BHA (salicylic acid, so I am so surprised that I am able to use this AHA nightly with absolutely no redness or irritation whatsoever! Good product
Pretty awesome stuff, makes your skin smoother since it removes the rough outer layers. But the amount of stinging upon the first to second uses really varies, haha, my skin was in pain the first time I used it! But I cautiously tried again and now it's good. Maybe it makes the lower layers of skin stronger. But my skin is definitely more fine textured now, less rough.

Cleansers and 8% AHA
I have tried both cleansers for normal/oily skin. My face had an immediate redness with both products. Also, the 8% AHA did very little for my oily skin. Yes, I also used the BHA. Now, i use a cleanser from Clinique and AHA from Alpha Hydrox (10%). Thanks to Paula for the recommendations.

I no longer hate cosmetics!
After studying histology (and skin cells and structure in particular) I became disgusted with the whole cosmetics industry and the outrageous claims it made. I stopped using most skin care products out of distrust. Then my sister-in-law recommended your books... and I tried again. Be careful with this product if you have extremely dry and sensitive skin prone to eczema. The first time i used this product, my skin looked 5 years younger. Unfortunately, after that its caused severe drying and nre patches of eczema.

GREAT products

Directions: Apply a dime-sized amount to clean skin. Avoid direct contact with the eyes and eyelids. First-time users may experience a slight stinging sensation, which is normal. To avoid irritation, product should be used just once a day or once every other day for the first few weeks. After prolonged use (4–6 weeks), it can be applied twice per day. If redness, dryness, or irritation occurs, cut back the frequency of application or discontinue use.
Sunburn Alert: This product contains an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that may increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn. Use a sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week afterwards.
Your AHA (glycolic acid) products have a higher percentage than your BHA (salicylic acid) products. Does this mean AHA is a stronger exfoliant?
AHA products are most effective at a 5% to 10% concentration and BHA at 1% to 2% concentration. Think about it like making bread, the amount of yeast you need is tiny in comparison to the amount of flour you use but equally important to get the results you want. The percentage of effectiveness varies depending on the ingredient. Rest assured that the BHA products are not any less effective due to lower concentrations of the exfoliant.
Can the AHA and/or BHA products be used during pregnancy or while lactating?
Although topical exfoliants should not pose a problem for pregnant woman, we do recommend asking your doctor before using any product you are concerned about.
