Keep Forever PLEASE!
This product is a Godsend! People actually think I'm 15 years younger than I am because of the exfoliation I get from this product. The get & lotion gave me little bumps, but this liquid is a must have!!! I don't know how I could live without it. Really - I don't say that about many products.

Excellent!
I have tried samples of all of Paula's BHA products and they are all excellent. Unfortunately, they are out of my price range and I will be using some of the drug store BHA alternatives listed on the beautypedia site. Thank you, Paula, for your unbiased reviews. It shows that you really care about your customers and have a strong passion for your job when you suggest lower priced alternatives for customers who can't afford your products. I would highly suggest all of Paula's BHA products to anyone! 5 stars!

Really Works!!!
I've been using Paula's BHA products since 2002 or 2004 and I must say, they really work. I decided to try the liquid, regular version this year and I am not disappointed. They all unclog pores and reduce my break outs. I love all of her BHA products and can't live with out them. I would rather have her BHA and her sunscreen on a desert island than any kind of makeup.

Not my favourite BHA
I did find that this BHA helped to improve my acne and blackheads, but I didn't like the slightly tacky feel and shiny finish it left on my skin. I also find the liquid product is less convenient to apply than other formats. I have now switched to using the Weightless Body Treatment on my face, and I much prefer the texture. Skin Perfection!!!
I have T-zone oil, blackheads on nose and chin, live in a humid climate leading to bad foundation days. I have used this product for a week and my oil is controlled, skin is smooth, pores tight and blackheads gone!! It is a pleasure to put my foundation on and am thinking about just wearing a tinted moisturizer as my skin looks so soft and supple. Thank you Paula for developing a product that delivers !!!

Miracle in a bottle
This is the first BHA product I have ever used that actually works. Other products might have worked if I stuck with them, but I ditched them all because they dried out my skin to the point where it became scaly and peeled. Paula's stuff has no alcohol or other drying ingredients in it. It almost seems to moisturize! I have oily skin, pores the size of the Grand Canyon, and a blackhead in almost every one of them. I thought I noticed smaller pores after the very first use, but I definitely saw a difference within 4 days of using it twice a day. Although it's not recommended, I have applied this BHA liquid four times so far today and my skin looks better every time I look in the mirror. It is moist and glowy, and it doesn't even sting. MIRACLE in a bottle!

No changes :(
A recent change in my liquid foundation broke my face out in little bumps all over :( I've always heard great things about this product so I decided to try it. After continuous use for 2 weeks, I don't see any changes in my skin except that it is super dry :/ However, I had tried a sample of the 1% BHA lotion last night and I think I may purchase that one instead because I noticed a few of my bumps looked smaller this morning and my skin didn't feel as dry. Too Drying
i really do like this product has help with fading scars and shrink my nose pores, which i have a lot and very big, but it dries my skin too much, i can't wear it consequently, i have to give my skin time to recover then i use it again. i dont know what else to do. but i do really like it. I'm just discovering the wonder of good BHA's!
I was never faithful to any BHA because I never saw results. After hearing about Paula's Choice BHA, I ordered the Gel version and was blown away when I saw immediate results! I'd never seen a BHA in action on my pores and milia! Because the gel version leaves your skin very shiny, I decided to try the liquid version. I'm not sure if it is quite as effective as the gel. I don't notice the immediate pore shrinkage that I get with the gel. I will stick to the gel product and just figure out a way to cover the shine on my face. Thanks PC for such great products! Ok, but I still have blackheads
I could be happier with this - I've been using it for about a year and finally decided to review it. The pros of this product are that, since I've started using it, my skin *has* improved a lot in texture - I used to get small red bumps (not big acne) sprinkled across my face and along my jaw, and these have more or less entirely disappeared. However, the blackheads on my nose, and on my chin, have stuck around - I was really hoping this stuff would take them out, as I've tried just about everything to purge these pesky blackheads, but they just don't seem to go away. I have pretty dramatically combo skin as my cheeks and forehead get *very* dry and tight, but my nose is an absolute oil factory. My skin is also pretty sensitive. I give this a 3 because it has done very well in terms of knocking out the red-type breakouts and smoothing my skin, but falls short when it comes to blackheads, which I'm more concerned with. I may give the CLEAR 2% BHA toner a try instead and see if that does anything for me. I just really hate these blackheads! Customer Care Response: Thank you for your review. Amazing Exfoliant
This product is amazing. At first I did not know that other forms of exfoliants other than scrubs exsisted. Scrubs made my face red and irritated my skin. The 2% BHA liquid Exfoliant is so easy to apply and doesn't hurt my skin in any way.I use it daily, once in the morning and once at night, and it makes my face feel ultra smooth. Will buy again.

Didn't work for me
I bought this and used it for about 2 weeks and saw no improvement with my skin. I then used the sample of the 2% gel bha that I received and it did my skin wonders!!!!! Okay
I ordered from Paula's choice for the first time and got this for black heads on my nose and cheeks. It went on nicely the first couple daysbout it's made my skin really itchy and I'm breaking out but I'm just going to keep using it. I also used the skin recovery moisturizer which helped a little but my dry flakey patches would show up a couple hours after putting it on. Really terrific.
First PC product I tried, and it brought down my inflamed, cystic acne-covered face almost overnight. I switched to the gel for ease of application but ordered some more samples of this because I found the gel too much for warm weather. And I have to say, this does seem to penetrate better than the gel. The inflammation seems to be even further reduced, and I think it's helping fade old acne marks faster than the gel. Plus, it's less heavy under makeup. I seriously don't know where I'd be without PC's products, especially this one. They have completely changed my skin in two months - unrecognizably better than prior to using them.

Small improvement but blackheads still there...
I've been using this product for about a month now and I've seen a small improvement in that my blackheads are getting a bit smaller. Unfortunately they have not yet cleared up completely. Great for keratosis pilaris
Miracle cure for those ugly little bumps on backs of arms and elsewhere. I have had issues with keratosis pilaris on my legs for years. I started using the 2% BHA liquid every day after my shower and they are gone. To use I just put a little puddle of it in my hand and smooth it on. Very happy to be able to wear shorts again and not be embarrassed.

good product, but causes me to flake
I purchased this product because I have started getting milia and I have a little bit of melasma on my forehead as well. I have used Retin-A for the last 20 years so I figured my skin would have no problem handling this. I am only using the product at night, but it is causing my skin to start flaking (only after using it 3 times). I then ordered the Moisture Boost Hydrating Treatment Cream hoping that this would take care of the flaking, but it didn't. This is a very nice moisturizer, but it just isn't moisturizing enough for this particular problem. I just placed an order for the 1% BHA and the Skin Recovery Hydrating Treatment Mask to help combat any flakiness, hopefully these products will work out better for me. I am very optimistic about the results I will hopefully see with these products as long as I can figure out why my skin is reacting this way. Customer Care Response: Thank you for your review. An amazingly unique product!
I have been using this product for years and there's nothing else in the market-place like it. This exfoliant WILL give you smoother, younger-looking skin. It is a strong product so I would recommend nightly use. After applying with a cotton pad, massage the product into your skin. Wait a couple of minutes and follow with a serum and Shine Stopper. You'll be amazed with the result, I guarantee you!!

not too sure...?
At first I just loved this product. It worked great for my skin, doing all it was supposed to do, and never left my face sticky as the 2% gel type did. But then a few days later, it worked too well that my skin became rather too dry. Whenever I washed my face I experienced flakes and a sort of "pull" on my skin. I guess 2% BHA is too much for me? OR should I reduce the use to less than every day? I wouldn't want to use 1% products, for there's is no liquid type for them ;( Customer Care Response: Thank you for your review. Not quite sure....
I really want to love this product as all the reviews say it's the best BHA, but it feels heavy on my skin,sort of greasy, and it stings a bit. :/ I really want to clear out the pores on my nose (the other BHA I was using, the clearly remarkable skin lighting, wasn't quite doing that) so I'm going to keep using this SP 2% liquid and try and make it work but adding the SB products on top to help mattify it. Great product, great results!
This is the first product I have used that has made a difference with my blackheads. I started out using the 2% lotion and it didn't seem to work for me - it made my skin break out and I didn't notice a difference in my blackheads. The 2% liquid seems to really get into my pores and they have definitely become less clogged and smaller. My blackheads are on my nose, the fronts of my cheeks and my chin. I use it on my problem areas every time I was my face, then the rest of my face and neck about 3x a week, and that seems to really make a difference in my skin. I get so many compliments on how healthy my skin looks. I get monthly facial and my facialist has noticed a big difference as well. I would definitely recommend it to anyone struggling with large pores and blackheads.

Too strong for my skin
This was the first time I ordered from Paula's Choice. While RESIST Hydrator and Skin Balancing Serum work very well for me, the Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant does not. The product is too strong for my skin. My face has become very dry, itchy and flaky after a few days. I wish I'd had more clear cut information about the product that will likely work best for me given that there are many choices and several appear similar. For example, AHA or BHA, 1% or 2% or 5% or 10%, gel or lotion or liquid? Great at first...
I was really excited to receive this product since I heard such great things about it! When I started using it, the effects were immediately noticeable: my skin immediately felt and looked smoother and I saw redness go down. The next few days after that were the same, and I was really loving this product! But about 4 days into the product, I was finding my skin got more and more irritated, and I eventually started to breakout in various places around my face. this BHA liquid along with the retinol serum helped unclog, minimize and smooth my pores. at first my skin didn't like this product but with continued use for two months, i am definitely seeing results. my skin isn't perfect yet but i am not getting any more clogged pores which i am completely satisfied. i use this twice a day after applying toner, let my skin absorb before applying PC's serum.

Love It!!
I've used this product for years and it has greatly reduced my pore size. I no longer have active acne so I don't know how it works for that, but it is excellent at speeding up skin cell turnover. I got cheap and tried to go without it last year and paid the price. My blackheads returned. It dries quickly, no problem with stickiness. Maybe because it is dry here in Colorado.

Oh, I so want to like this product but the texture is tacky, sticky and oily feeling on my skin and it never really dries down. Paula, I wish there was a way to change this texture because it's really annoying. The gel isn't as sticky. I still have blackhead issues. I love that it's 2%, no coloring agents, fragrance, Proper PH, etc. but I'm having such a difficult time with the texture. It's so off-putting. :( The Resist Advanced Replenishing Toner is the perfect texture, silkiness, and dry down. Love it the best of all toners. Customer Care Response: Thank you for your review! Only result is dry skin, so far!
I've been using this on my chest for 4 weeks now and the first couple of weeks nothing really changed, but now my skin is starting to get really dry. Plus the deep blackheads are still on my chest. Gonna used the rest of the bottle and if it doesn't help I'm gonna see a dermatologist. Customer Care Response: Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear BHA did not work well for you. Make Sure Cap Is On
The product is a little spendy, but works amazingly. However after only a couple uses my inside lid fell off and i lost more than half of the solution, so make sure when you receive your package that the inside cap is on all the way. Product 5 star! Amazing product!
I bought the BHA liquid 2% to help with all the blackheads I had on my nose,chin and cheek areas. I was so pleasantly surprised when I noticed with routine use that my blackheads are disappearing and are less noticeable even now. Disappointed
This product did not work for me, unfortunately. I had fairly good results with the weightless body treatment lotion and thought that this might work better. Fantastic Product!
I use this product twice a day along with the skin balancing cleanser, toner and hydralight moisturizer. I have very sensitive, oily skin and it has not been a problem using it twice a day. In two weeks I have already noticed this product is evening out my skin tone and calming the redness. I am so happy with my Paula's Choice products! Yikes!
I tried this based on multiple great reviews. While it worked well for the first few weeks I started seeing tons of little bumps including some more severe issues on my chin when I was 3/4 of the way through the bottle. I thought this was my skin purging so I kept using and even bought a second bottle when I ran out. My skin was so broken out and dry and flakey that I actually ended up going to see a derm wondering what the heck was up. I stopped using the product and went back to basics and my skin cleared up within in a matter of days. I can see this works for a lot of people but this product was not for me. I'm so releived my skin is back to normal and bummed I spent almost $40 on two bottles of this and still have one that's bassically full. I wish I had known about this as a teenager...
I've lived with acne for more than 10 years, and only now have I done enough research to understand what my skin needed. I kept thinking it was dietary or stress-related, but was making no progress. My skin never felt clean and was constantly clogged and irritated. This exfoliant has allowed my skin to become smooth and almost blemish-free in just the first week. Quit washing your salicylic acid down the sink in washes, or wasting money on toners with the wrong PH. This is great to use in the morning since I hate to get my face and hair wet in the morning, and I alternate it with my retinol at night. Feels slick for a bit, but doesn't stay greasy. I just use my fingers.

I ordered this product on the recommendation of my sister who said it literally "changed her face overnight" but I've been using this for a couple of weeks now and I haven't noticed any change. Maybe it's not the right product for me...
I received this 2% BHA liquid exfoliant last Thursday and couldn't wait to use it. My skin felt really tight and a little bit irritant after applying that to my face. But I decide to give it few more tries before I'm saying I like it or not to make it more justice. I followed the steps suggested by Paula: cleanse, tone, exloliate, serum then lotion. The feel of tightness and irritation still there but I just ignored it, thought that's normal plus I don't see any red spots on my skin. Up till yesterday I went to the lady's room at work, found there are flaky dead skins on both sides of my face and the area between my eyebrows. I simply skipped exfoliation in my skincare routine last night and this morning and found that made a difference already. Maybe this is not the right product for me? However I do LOVE the RESIST Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum that I purchased. It gave my skin the right amount of moisture and treatment it needs! Reduces cystic acne!
I've been using the BHA liquid for the past month-and-a-half, and my cystic acne has dramatically decreased. I use it 2x per day along with the Skin Balancing Toner, and spot treat with 5% benzoyl peroxide. This routine has really helped to reduce the severe inflammation in my skin. The only promise it does not live up to is that it doesn't really help with blackheads. Also, the product has a weird greasy texture, even when I don't apply much; however, this can be remedied by applying a mattifying moisturizer afterward. It's an amazing product overall, and you can't find anything quite like it from other brands, seriously I've tried.

Waiting on Results...
I asked my husband to buy this for me (xmas gift) after reading all the glowing reviews. I am 3 weeks in so far. In addition to my blackheads I now have new under-the-skin inflamed bumps...and they are large. Painful. I am still waiting for this to work. No improvement in skin as yet, though it may be purging...Customer Care Response: Thank you for your review. For some users they will notice a bit of a breakout or clogged pores but should improve with continued use. AMAZING-- bigger size!
This product is the only thing to help clear my persistent chest acne without aggravating the delicate skin there. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because the tiny sized bottle is so unreasonable! Please, offer this in bigger sizes so that both the costumers AND the company can save $$ by buying in bulk. Amazing!
Amazing product! My mom has been using this stuff for ages and keeps telling me I have to use it consistently. I have been using it consistently for about 2 weeks. I am 36 years old and still get pimples, blackheads and milia (those tiny white hard bumps). This stuff reduces all of that and will prevent them from returning! It is tacky/sticky on the skin, so I only apply it at night. I use the 1% lotion during the day to apply to stubborn milia. And when I get dry patches I will use it every other night as my face continues to adjust to it, or if it just needs a break. Thank you to Paula and her team!!

great but makes my skin itch?

Holy grail product
I decided to try the BHA liquid after reading reviews, and I'm glad I did! I always breakout around my cycle and the acne leaves behind dark spots. The spots left behind are pretty dark since I'm African-American. But after a few weeks of using the BHA (with the inclusion of 2.5% benzoyl peroxide), my spots are lightening up and I have barely any pimples on my face. A little goes a long way with this product. Too much will make your face feel a little stiff.

THE HOLY OF HOLYS
This product is so amazing, 5 stars isn't enough to rate it. I can go on all day about how this has changed my face texture completely. I've used prescription drugs + homemade remedies to get rid of acne in the past, and now acne is almost non-existant on my face. Even if I do get a tiny break out, BHA helps it go away faster. Your skin does need time to adjust to this product, but if you keep up with it, it's VERY worth it. I can't go without this stuff. I look at peoples' faces so differently now and I know when somebody needs BHA in their life. BHA will solve basically all your acne problems, even scarring and if it isn't? The culprit is not due to the BHA, it's 98% likely that it's due to another factor. My skin is pretty sensitive too, but it soaks this stuff up like a newborn and its milk bottle. You -need- this liquid to bring life back into a dead face- BHA will do that for you. I can get away with wearing no makeup, some other girls start crying when they see how much you can bare shamelessly thanks to this product. THANK YOU PAULA. It was your skin and your knowledge that led me to buy this holy grail. Not to mention I use the skin balancing cleanser, toner and moisturizer. Amazing!
This is the only product that works on my acne. It stops it before it even starts. If I feel a pimple coming on, I put this product on and it stops it before coming to surface. Dream Product
This exfoliator is all I need to keep my moderate acne at bay. Plus, it makes my skin look radiant! Like many reviewers, initially, I was a bit put off by what I thought was the greasy feeling of this liquid, but I realized after reading the instructions that I was using way too much of it. Since then, I've been diligent about applying a dime-size amount to a cotton pad, and now there isn't any of that residue that I felt at first. Here's a tip: It helps if the cotton pad you use is a high-quality one. The normal drugstore pads I was using absorbed all the liquid, but when I switched to the Sephora-brand cotton pads, I was able to get more bang for my buck from this liquid!

Can't go without this!
I have been using this product for about 6 weeks. I LOVE this. I have combo, acne prone- easily clogged skin. This keeps my skin smooth and clear. I put a thin layer all over my face at night, and in the morning, I dab a little bit on my T zone. I find that it really helps me control oil as well. This has smoothed out my forehead 'bumps', giving it a much more smooth appearance. Since using this product, along with the 5% BP, I even go some days without foundation and still confident in my skin. I will keep using this product and I hope it never stops working on me!! amazing! but oily
I absolutely love this product! i think it is a must have for daily use and really great after shaving. it really prevented me from getting razor bumps! I noticed a change in my complexion from when i woke up from when i put it on at night ONE TIME! My blemish size and redness where VERY significantly reduced, and now they are almost gone (i have had the product for a week and a half). My only problem with this product is that it is oily. (thats why it got 4 stars) I refuse to use it in the morning because i don't like the shine it puts on my face. Mixed results
I started using this product about a week ago. At first, I was thrilled with my results. My blackheads and blemishes practically vanished with only a few days of use, but now all of a sudden my skin has begun flaking like crazy. My skin, although oily, has always been prone to flaking, but not like this. My acne and blackheads have definitely been improved, but there seems to be something in here that my skin is not responding well too. I figured that an exfoliant would help with my skin's flakiness, not make it worse. I am also entertaining the idea that my skin could be responding to the sudden drop in temperatures and increased wind where I live. Confusing. Great results, a staple product for me
I've been using Paula's Choice products for several years to control my mild acne and hyperpigmentation. This product makes my skin smoothe and clear and soft, although I don't see a noticeable difference in my blackheads. Combo skin must-have!
I have combination skin with a very oily t-zone and dry scaly cheeks. This product is wonderful for achieving a super clean complexion without stripping it with harsh alcohol. In the summer I cannot live without as it really helps with shine control in a very hot, humid climate (southeast) and works well under makeup. In winter, I only use during day, but summer I use 2x am and pm. It can be overly drying on cheek area so be strategic in where you apply.

Super product!!
I've been using this for years on my face (I'm 51), and my daughter, who is 21, has also used it for several years. It's better than any product I could find at the drugstore, because most of those have have added, useless, and irritating ingredients. Works Great but Texture is Best forNight
The 2% BHA liquid, along with the Resist Anti-Aging Clear moisturizer has made such a huge difference in my skin. For years I used the 2% BHA gel, but wanted something a bit lighter and while this is light, it takes a long time to absorb and isn't good under makeup. My only other complaint is that I don't like the tiny hole in the bottle opening, but I just removed the little plastic plug and do one flip onto a cotton pad and that is the perfect amount of product. We are sorry to hear you are not happy with the packaging of this product but will pass along your comments to Paula and her Product Development team for future consideration.

More black heads, more visible!!!
I was once tried this product about 2 years ago (not sure, but pretty long time ago), I was totally disappointed! I have combination skin and lots of black and white heads on my nose and chin. Once I heard about this product, I was so excited to try, but ended up with the disappointment because not only it didn't get rid of those disgusting black & white heads, but also it seemed to make things worse!! Normally my black heads will show up in a week or 2 after I press them out, but with this product, they revealed themself a few days after being got off!!! But, again, I was so sick and tired of pressing them out, I then wanted to give another try with this product. And yes, again, it's given me the same result. :( I think I will keep using the product for another week, and if the result still the same, I'll get rid of them. I also tried CLEAR Toner and Skin balancing Toner (not sure the exact names), and very disappointed with them as well, as they haven't made any change on my face at all either. DRANO for pores :)
I have acne prone, sensitive, reactive, combination skin. Some parts of my face are very dry, some in my T zone, tend to oily. I have been using this product on/off for years. It takes several weeks to really notice how well it works. You must be patient. Personally, I think that you should pat and not rub on the product since you couls spread any bacteria on your skin. Since this is the strongest BHA formula, it would have the potential to create breakouts if your skin is inflamed or becomes dry and irritated initially before adapting. After longer term use, my skin starts to dry out and I need to back off or reduce the amount. I have also tried several other PC formulations of AHA, BHA and this on seems to penetrate my pores the best. The excellence of this product really came to my attention recently after an abnormal, horrible, horrible reaction to some new products and I had the worst breakout of my entire life. This product along with the 5% PC BP product have almost cleared my skin after 3+ weeks. Note that using more than the recommended amount will only aggravate and irritate your skin since this is after all salicylic ACID. But really, this is an outstanding product. I do not know of any competing parallel product OTC. And, its affordability is a plus, since one bottle lasts a long time. This is an excellent product and an excellent value that I'm very grateful that Paula manufactures. I would use it forever and feel confident that I could live out the rest of my days without breakouts, except that I do want to have a baby and I'm not sure that I can use this product while pregnant.

A must have for me!!
I have been using Paula's AHAs and BHAs as long as I can remember. They are an essential part of my skin care regime. At first I just used them for acne control.My skin was oily and acne prone from an early age. With an allergy to Benzoyl Peroxide, my choices were more limited. They worked great! Oily residue = not for daytime use!
This product seems kind to my skin, and is probably helping with the texture (I started using it along with several other PC products, so I can't comment on what this product, alone, may or may not be achieving). BUT, it leaves a very shiny, oily slick on my skin that takes FOREVER to dry, and dries to a sticky surface that's impossible under makeup. So, if you're looking for a daytime exfoliating toner, I'd recommend looking elsewhere. I'm sending mine back, since I need a toner that's appropriate for night and day (I have enough bathroom clutter without adding multiple toners - and more than enough moisturizers to need any oil in my toner). Customer Care Response: You may want to try our Regular Strength Targeted Acne Relief Exfoliating Toner. It contains salicylic acid just like all of Paula's other BHA products. The difference is that this version has a nearly weightless, watery texture making it an excellent choice for people who want to feel like they have absolutely nothing on their skin.

This product is amazing
I can't tell you how many products I've tried to clear up my skin. I had small bumps on my forehead and cheeks and nothing worked. I had microdermabrasion done, tried retin A, tried dermologica acne gel & all to no avail. I heard about Paulas Choice on a acne thread & decided to try it out. BHA 2% liquid review
I bought this as the last resort to treat my acne, clogged pores and blackheads even though i had read that BHA does not treat inflamed acne. I have tried everything expect birth control pills and Accutane and nothing had long lasting results. In addition had very stubborn clogged pores on my forehead, temples and cheek area. I did experience some mild peeing but that was only for the first three weeks. After a month I started to see dramatic changes to my skin, and now two months later it has kept on improving. I kid you not, I have nearly flawless skin, and i am able to go out without makeup for the first time in YEARS and I feel soo confident. A Product That No One Should Be Without!
This product is one that everyone from teenagers to adults should be using! It treats acne, blackheads, and clogged pores, better than any non prescription product I have ever used. A nice product
I am 46 years old but have been plagued with an oily forehead all my life. No matter what I tried, I always had what seemed like small, bumpy clogged pores on my forehead. Within a few days after using this, my forehead was smooth and the bumps went away. I like that it's a liquid since I don't like putting lots of heavy layers on my face. The 2% liquid is a little too strong for me to use daily, but after experimenting I've figured out that using it every other day is the perfect routine to keep my face clear and smooth.

Superb! Does exactly what it claims
I'm in trouble because after sampling a good number of PC's products I found that I love most of them, including this exfoliant. Thanks to Paula, I discovered BHAs for my oily/combo skin and have to admit that they've done wonders for my acne-prone skin. Many people mention an oily texture with this liquid - while it is heavier than most toners out there (it does not feel watery), I found that if you don't use too much of it, it absorbs very quickly and doesn't pose an issue in terms of putting on other products over it right away. And yes, it helped tremendously with the look and texture of my skin. If you're struggling with issues like acne do yourself a favor, get a few samples of this and use it for 2 weeks and see what it does for you. Chances are, you won't be sorry.

Beautiful Product
While this product has not been "miraculous", I am absolutely thrilled with it. I have been using it twice a day for a few weeks, and my skin is most definitely improving in appearance, and in getting rid of blemishes and blackheads. At long last!
For 30 years I've been searching for something that would reliably keep my acne-prone skin clear. Finally, finally, I've found it. Made me breakout
I have extremely sensitive skin and the BHA 2% liquid was not right for my skin. It made me break out all over my face, while also making my skin flaky and dry. For anyone with this type of reaction, I found the BHA 1% lotion to be amazing and worked much better for me.

GREAT product! GREAT packaging!
I have used the product for several years after a friend recommended it to me to deep clean pores. It really fulfills its claims to clear and reduce the size of your pores like nothing else I've ever tried! I have normal/dry skin and have NO problems with over dryness. It absorbs QUICKLY since it's a liquid which I love. I saw the comment earlier from someone complaining about the packaging. PLEASE don't change the packaging. The current packaging is much less likely to spill while traveling, allows less air and other contaminates to enter the bottle while open, lessens the impact of spills, and dispenses the perfect amount on your cotton ball in a couple of shakes. Best Treatment for Stubborn Blackheads
I have tried EVERYTHING for blackheads. I am obsessed with those stubborn pores around my nose and nothing seems to make them go away! I have tried the most expensive creams and even prescriptions, but nothing has worked like this 2% BHA liquid. While they aren't 100% gone, MOST of them have disappeared and my pores overall are less noticeable and clearer (although I've only been using it for about a week so longer use me actually clear them all!) I also use Retin-A and sometimes my face is dry/flaky and oily at the same time, but this liquid makes it smooth, radiant and most importantly balanced. I also use the Carbon Mask once a week and my skin just glows. I can't believe I have dealt with this obsession for 28 years and all I needed was this one product! And what a great price!

I can hardly believe the change in my skin since I started using this LESS THAN ONE WEEK AGO. It's like I got a complexion transplant. It looks like someone else's skin. I have always struggled with oily skin, large pores, ridiculous blackheads on my nose. After using the regimen, 1-step cleanser (with my Clarisonic brush I hasten to add), skin balancing toner & 2% BHA, just for a few days, and adding my Clinique Instant Pore Perfector & a little powder, it's like I have airbrushed skin. Added bonus is that the rest of my face is glowing, not just the problem areas. It's bizarre that I never heard of this before. I tried to get these results with Retin A Micro but there was so much peeling and irritation it was like a part-time job to manage it. I use this in the winter instead of the 8% aha gel b/c it seems a little more moisturizing. I also like to put it around my eye area - it is not as drying as the aha gel. It is shiny though, so I only wear it at night.

Another PC staple- My skin is so nice these days
I have used this wonderful product (along with countless other PC formulations)for several years. I use it every few days with a cotton pad as I find it to be most effective this way and leaves my skin feeling toned and cleansed like a toner would.(I use it at night after cleansing as this makes my skin look freaky shiny!) I really love it though and dont mind being shiny at home. After 15 mins or so I moisturize- which prevents any tightness BHA might cause and lets the valuable ingredients in your moisturizer penetrate well. It feels like a soothing film on my face and the next morning my skin is so insanely soft, bright and smooth. Remember to use sunscreen even more vigorously than usual the next morning though (if that's even possible!) I love so many of Paula's products. I get compliments on my fair and healthy looking complexion alot. I am 28 now, and look so much better now than as a teenager (very bad times!). Back then I used to save up money to buy harsh, overpriced and ineffective clinique and dermatologica regimes- always believing it was my skin that was not good enough, rather than the devasting products making it angry, sore and flaky. Always feeling like an unwelcome pimply, flaky teenager without much cash at the snobby department store counters didn't help my confidence either. Looking back I can't believe I used to put myself through that. For years I have read the reviews on this site without giving my own. I will now write one for every product I use like your AMAZING All Bases Covered Foundation (always natural looking and never separates, dries out or changes colour), Healthy Finish pressed powder (sets sunscreen and foundation perfectly leaving a smooth matt and natural, never cakey or odd finish) and Hydrating Treatment Cream (THE most soothing, smoothing, dewy making cream of all time) as well as other products I am a massive fan of. My smart and loving grandmother gave me one of your books for Christmas when I was about 20. I read 'Don't go to the cosmetics counter without me' all the time- then ordered my first products (including this one!) as well as picking up some Paula's pick items. Good for body too
I'm about to order my third bottle of the Exfoliating 2% BHA Liquid. I started using it twice daily about three months ago for folliculitis on my front, back and shoulders. My derm had me on a sulfur wash and Ziana gel that cleared up about 60%, but have phased those out almost entirely since this works so much better. It's more like 95% gone now. My only complaint is that it's a bit messy to apply, and the bottle design doesn't allow you to use a mister with it.

Great at First, then Breakouts?

My holy grail in skin care

Good results
I have used this product for years... I still get clogged pores and occassional breakouts, but it DOES help to minimize these problems. However, Paula's benzoil peroxide product has made a MUCH bigger difference in my skin, in terms of reducing clogged pores and breakouts. But I figure I should be using an exfoliant too, so I in addition to the benzoil peroxide lotion a few nights a week, I also use this BHA product on the other nights. I have never liked the texture, though... it looks and feels a tad greasy (why would a product for oily skin be greasy!?... go figure), so I am switching to the 1otion version, and will choose to try the 1% version, since the reviews say that the 2% BHA lotion is really more like a heavy cream.

great in humid climates
I started using Paula's 2% BHA Lotion last winter with great results. However, this summer in super-hot and humid Georgia has completely changed how my skin reacts to that product. I developed numerous flesh-colored bumps on my chin after using the lotion, and I think it's because it smothered my skin and I sweated under it. I was afraid to try the liquid, thinking for some reason that it would be very harsh and drying. On the advice I received from a chat with customer service, I decided to go ahead and switch to this 2% BHA Liquid, and wow, what a difference! Overnight, the bumps on my chin and the redness from a hormonal breakout have disappeared and my skin really does feel so much better. I do not use this liquid in the daytime; I find I can't tolerate any exfoliant twice a day, and this product does produce a beaming shine on my skin. No one will see that at night, though, so I'm not complaining. But, if you use an exfoliant twice a day, do take note that you will have a VERY shiny face from this product. One more thing: take it slow, and initially use just once every other day, and there is no way you will see irritation. I think anyone who finds an exfoliant irritating after a few days is possibly trying to rush the results.

Use it for wrinkles!
I started using the 2% BHA about a month ago, not for blemishes, but I did get clogged pores. This stuff smoothed out my skin better than retinol that I had previously been using. All I use at night is this liquid and have just started with the resist antioxidant on top of it, not the resist moisturizer. My 52 year old skins looks really, really nice. I have spent much money on all kinds of lotions and potions and this stuff is wonderful.

Best bha product
I love this exfoilant. It's light, non irritating and it works. I've used the Clearasil pads ( aweful) and Neutrogena Stress Control (not bad, but I didn't like the film it left as I have two more steps after applying BHA ). The only thing about this liquid is that if you're using your fingers, you must be careful not to spill. If you're using a cotton pad, its easier, but at the cost of some waste. This BHA does three things for me: keeps mild acne away, helps to speed up those occasional cystic break-outs, and smooths my skin, so I can actually wear make-up.

Rosacea? Read this review!
Rosacea causes red bumps on my nose that can last for months; Metro gel/cream have little effect. Five months ago I started applying 2% BHA liquid daily (AM and PM), testing to see if it was effective. In those five months my nose has been virtually free of bumps and redness! Absolutely indispensable product.
This just might be the most essential product in Paula's entire lineup. Prevents pimples? Check. Keeps inflammation to a minimum? Check. Makes skin luxuriously soft? Naturally! Amazing Product for Keratosis Pilaris
I simply had to email you guys to tell you how unbelievably amazing your product is. I have a particularly bad case of keratosis pilaris. And when I say bad, I mean, bumps from the neck down that are red or purple. The backs of my arms are particularly terrible. My dermatologist said I have one of the worst cases of KP she has ever seen. I'm 32 and have come to live somewhat at peace with my condition because nothing has ever worked, and I've tried EVERYTHING. I'm not joking. I've literally tried every single product I could find to treat my condition. If there ever was some improvement, it was only for reducing the bumps and took months to become apparent, requiring a significant amount of time every day for minimal improvement. The red dots never went anywhere. Ever. But I read some reviews on your 2% BHA lotion and heard people saying that they saw immediate improvement, which excited me. For those of us living with KP, this is a miracle statement! So I tried the 2% BHA liquid because Paula's website said that it would penetrate faster and given my extreme case of KP, I needed as intensive of help as I could get. And I have to say, I am amazed and shocked. My arms haven't looked this good since, well, ever. Within one week, the bumps have reduced to almost being flat. The redness is slowly disappearing. I'm not purple anymore. I've been doing a scrub in the shower once every other day and then using the liquid twice a day, with incredible results. This is an amazing treatment. So amazing, that this is the first time I have ever provided positive feedback on a product. Anyway, I just had to tell you guys. Love this product! It has improved my acne and my skin tone is now more even! Glad I found out about Paula's Choice! It is only too bad that we cannot buy this product in stores. Shipping is expensive, but I will keep buying since it's worth every penny to have clear/beautiful skin! Also, since my 2% BHA Liquid is almost empty, I just bought the CLEAR Extra Strength Targeted Acne Relief Toner, which is the same formula, but I like its cap better than this one. More convenient! If this doesn't work, try others
I bought the 2%liquid because the 2% lotion was out of stock. I started breaking out;the opposite of what I did with the lotion and gel, which worked immediately. If this product doesn't work, try the lotion or gel. Paula's BHA products have kept my skin clearer than any acne products I have ever tried, including oral antibiotics and accutane!

Hi Paula, I had to let you knnow I absolutely love this product. First of all, people keep looking at me closely, and telling me I look really good, even without makeup! Makes a huge difference in my skin...
I had very bad acne in my teen years (and still would if it weren't for Paula's Choice and Differin gel), tons of blackheads, oily skin, etc. This product improved my skin so much. Seriously, this has changed my life. My skin is smoother (no lingering pimples below the surface), my blackheads are reduced (not gone, thanks Irish-German genes), and the tones of my skin is more even. BHA to the rescue 5/5!
I normally have very oily skin that is soft to the touch. However, during the cold winter months, my skin has become dry to the touch and peely, despite it's oil production. I've used the 2% BHA gel version before, and while I had good results using it, I didn't like the texture because it left a somewhat sticky residue/feel on my skin. I ordered the 2% BHA liquid expecting a thinner textured product that absorbs more easily, and I was right! The liquid is the way to go! I use it every night and occasionally in the morning. It's been 10 days and my skin feels and looks LOADS BETTER! I have sparse acne scars (those pesky little dark spots) and they are fading much faster than usual, my skin feels super soft to the touch, and any blackheads I had are gone! My skin isn't peeling nearly as much (except in certain areas where I tend to over-apply benzoyl peroxide, but that's my own fault). Overall, the results in 10 days are noticeable and spectacular and I got compliments from my mom who is super skeptical when it comes to skin care products. I am looking forward to seeing the results after long-term use of this product!

This stuff just plain works!
I've been using the 2% BHA liquid for a couple of years now, and I can always tell when I stop! This product, combined with the 5% benzoyl peroxide cream, really keeps my blackheads and breakouts to a minimum. I live in super-dry Colorado, and once I built up a tolerance to this product, I haven't noticed any dryness or irritation (I have the beginnings of rosacea - thanks Dad ;) ). Made my acne 10x worse
I used the 2% BHA liquid on my combo/oily acne & blackhead prone face for 2 months. After the first 2 weeks, my acne started getting worse, so I chatted with a Paula's Choice expert and she said, if you can, stick with it for 2 more weeks--your skin just needs time to get use to the ingredients...so I did. BUT my acne worsened 10-fold and never got better. I understand the next step is to try the AHA, but AHA isn't a solution for acne. I'm done with Paula's Choice. It's too pricey for products that don't work. (I had no luck with the balancing toner and the Skin Balancing Daily mattifying lotion either.) Not sure about this yet.....
I've been using this product for about two weeks now. I have used so many products that are supposed to purge you pores and this by far is the only thing that has actually made my skin purge. This stuff gave me the biggest pimple I have ever had in my life but the good news is it went away after about 3 days...i'm still breaking out with little pimples and my cheeks are looking pretty bumpy from blackheads popping up! I gave this a four despite me breaking out because my red marks that acne left behind are almost 100% gone! I have tried so many products to get rid of those marks and this stuff has been the best thing i've tried! I hope my face stops breaking out! I think my pores were just really clogged! I will update this after about two months!

People say my skin glows, all because of this!
This is amazing stuff. It's marketed as being for people with very oily to normal skin, but I think it can work for any skin type at all! Every person I recommend Paula's Choice to, I recommend that they get this product. If you have normal to dry skin, PLEASE use a good, Paula-approved moisturizer over (not under) this! If you're combination, use the moisturizer over the dry and normal parts. Any Paula's Choice moisturizer should do (CeraVe also works great). This stuff will DESTROY any mild to moderate acne when you use the BHA liquid at night and benzoyl peroxide during the day. Severe acne will usually get knocked almost completely out. The catch? You HAVE TO use it EVERY DAY. Don't skip even one application!

Help for oil & large pores
I started using the BHA Liquid everyday after reading about how BHA can clean out pores and, after time, reduce the size of the pores somewhat. It works! I can't believe how good my skin looks. My HUGE pores are now relatively tiny and I haven't had acne in the three weeks since I started this daily routine. I did have some dryness/scaling at first but my skin seems to have adjusted. If you have seriously oily skin, like me, try this product. I used to go through blotters like crazy, but now I only use them once a day.

My skin is hard to please being the sensitive, slightly oily type. Pros- this liquid is excellent by itself. The best BHA product I've ever used! I haven't been consistent, but when I do use it my skin improves. The cons- when I apply certain sunscreens on top of this product I experience irritation. My advice if you are highly sensitive is to be careful of what sun product you apply on top of this and give it enough time to dry beforehand. Not for daytime
This product dries sticky like another reviewer said and it also makes my skin super shiny. Even if I put makeup and powder over the shine, it's still too shiny to leave the house. It doesn't make my skin feel greasy and slick, it just makes it look that way. I can only wear this at nighttime and I'm not sure if that's enough for me. I am a huge fan of your products, but with age i feel like my pores have gotten bigger and my blackheads more stubborn. Love this product
Within days of using the 2% BHA liquid I felt a difference in my skin. It is much smoother, less oily, and I'm not breaking-out like I was prior to using it. My daily routine consists of using it in the morning and at night. I put it on, let it dry for about 10-15 minutes, put on benzoyl peroxide, let it dry for 10-15 minutes, and then moisturize with a little bit of Cetaphil (w/ spf 15) and jojoba oil. My skin is radiant! I used to the the 8% AHA and did NOT experience these results. I am very thankful for this product and would encourage other acne sufferers (especially those with oily skin) to try it. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because sometimes my face peels (mainly on my chin and above my mouth) and that gets a tad annoying. However, this is still a GREAT product!

Will dramatically help oily/breakout prone skin
I have had acne and very oily skin for most of my teenage years and into my early 20's. I tried every acne product I could find from drugstore brands, to Proactiv and other similar lines, to the more expensive products. what a Godsend for my face...
I do not know what I would do if I didn't have the 2% BHA liquid! I have tried Retin-A (which tore up my sensitive skin), Duac, ClindaGel, Proactiv, Clean and Clear, Neutrogena, BenzaClin, everything for my acne. Nothing, NOTHING works as good as this stuff. I pair it with the Skin Balancing Toner and the PC benzoyl peroxide Blemish treatment at night. My acne started noticeably clearing up the very next morning. I no longer wear foundation or any base; I simply put on SPF in the morning and touch up with powder when I get oily. This stuff will not disappoint you! It makes me feel so much better about my face. What a great product!

Controls acne, but not that pleasant to use.
I have have been using the 2% BHA liquid for about 6 months. I do believe the salicylic acid works well to keep acne pimples at bay except for the occasional menstrual breakout. I think it has evened my skintone a bit too. However, I have noticed no visual improvement in blackheads - they are still there and pores are still visibly clogged, though thankfully pimples are rare now. Furthermore, the product makes my skin peel if I use it several days in a row (I do not use anything else that would cause this, no retinA, no benzoyl). I am trying the lotion formulation next to see if that improves my experience. Furthermore, I dont like the liquid formula at all. It is runny and runs everywhere coming out of the bottle and all over your hand if you try to apply with your fingers. If you apply with a cotton pad or swab, you waste too much product. No win there. Finally, it dries very sticky! A big no-no, that, since my main reason for trying liquid instead of lotion first was to avoid stickiness. This does not absorb anywhere near as well as the packaging suggests.

Its been a week since I started using this at night with my fingers. My pores on my nose are much smaller the next day, and much less oily than before. Its gentle, does not sting. I hope it continues to work. Before, I could see "puddles" of oil in my nose pores, not any more. Like I said, use your fingers to apply, otherwise you waste 90% of the bottle.

Awsome Stuff!!
This has really helped with my acne. I only get occasoinal pimples now and it just makes my skin look and feel so much better however it did not get rid of all of my blackheads and that was a little disappionting but it is probably just how my skin is not the product. Too Strong for Me?
I have oily, acne-prone skin. While the 2% BHA Liquid has helped my skin some, I think it might be too strong for me. EVERY TIME I use this stuff, my face peels. I just don't feel comfortable walking around with my makeup peeling off my face. Also, contrary to the claim in the description of this item, I feel the liquid takes FOREVER to absorb into my skin. I'm not ready to give up on BHA because I do see some benefits from it, so I'm going to try the 1% gel or lotion and see how that works better for me.

I have mild Rosacea and was unable to use BHA or AHA acids without severe flushing until I found Paula's. Quite gentle and effective. Substantially reduced my acne!

A magic liquid for face
I have sensitive combination skin with whiteheads on my nose. This liquid works perfectly for my skin. Now my face becomes so smooth to touch and no more whiteheads on nose!! Never buy this product
I was miserably disappointed when an imprudent relative told me my skin looked splotchy and irritated after 1 month of using this product. Paula never mentioned anything about how this product could make your acne 100,000 times worse and leave you there to pick up the pieces. There is a " purging" phase that is horrendous, but then it never improves! If you have fair skin that has a tendency to be oily, don't ever use this! My skin has NEVER been worse. Finally Got it Right
At first, this worked somewhat, but I still had blackheads. Then I read one of Paula's letters in which she recommended waiting before applying moisturizer because they work differently in the skin. I apply it, then brush my teeth and do a few other things, waiting at least 3-4 minutes before I put on the rest of my makeup. My t-zone is now 95% clear; the other day my husband told me I was getting prettier. I still breakout a bit - it's hormonal - but the pimples do not last as long for the most part.

Relieved and Pleased
I've always suffered from acne prone skin but it was never very bad, and when it did get bad - I used one of the more advertised and pricey monthly mail order treatments. It worked and I was happily under control for about 5 years, never having to wear makeup. When I turned 27 something seemed to change and I suddenly started getting bad adult acne. It felt incredibly frustrating and embarrassing. Prescriptions the dermatologist gave me made my acne even worse (which it's supposed to do...for 6 weeks, but how could I face going to work everyday with an even worse face for 6 weeks?). I tried the 2% BH liquid and blemish fighting solution after reading it about it on someone's blog. I didn't have high hopes since all the ingredients are the same as the other things I'd tried, but the pH balance approach seemed worth a shot. It Really is Amazing

My 'all of the sudden' acne problem after 23 yrs of clear skin made me panic. i tried EVERYTHING! my last choice was a visit to the derm until i tried the sample of 2% bha. AMAZING! This is my favorite product
This is the beauty product I cannot live without. I use this in addition to other Paula's Choice skin-balancing products, and I finally have my horrible adult acne under control. Essential Part of a Solid Paula's Choice Regimen!
I have been using Paula's products for several years now, and have seen lots of improvement in my combination, acne-prone adult skin. Though I still battle acne, my overall skin tone has a luminosity it just never had before. Recently I've found that using this product in combination with the 8% AHA gel, the 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide cream, and the Hydralight moisturizer is a perfect way to implement the program described in the book the Acne Cure. While there is no actual "cure" for acne, using these products in sequence regularly for just a few weeks has led to even more dramatic improvements in my skin. I give it 4 stars because I do find the liquid consistency to be a touch greasy. but since I rinse it off now (to follow with a mini-treatment of the AHA and then, at night, the Blemish Control cream and Hydralight moisture, I don't mind it as much. It's a great product.

Living in a humid weather such in M'sia, struggling with a blemish-prone skin, very oily T-Zone during mid day. I like 2% Beta Hydroxy Liquid but it does not get rid off black heads at least not mine. I have a T zone which has improved as well as the over all texture of my skin but I still have blackheads and 2% Beta Hydroxy Liquid hasn't helped neither has the gel or AHA's. 2% Beta Hydroxy Liquid doesn't dry out my skin which is great unlike other products. I read the reviews on the 2% Beta Hydroxy Liquid and I have to say I a bit skeptical that they worked as well as everyone said. I have tried so many products over the last few years, but have not found anything that helped with the breakouts and the extreme oily skin. What makes this product unique?
Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid rapidly exfoliates both the skin's surface and inside the pore, reshaping the pore lining, unclogging pores and improving skin cell turnover rate. For daytime, wear under a product rated SPF 15 or higher.

Your AHA (glycolic acid) products have a higher percentage than your BHA (salicylic acid) products. Does this mean AHA is a stronger exfoliant?
AHA products are most effective at a 5% to 10% concentration and BHA at 1% to 2% concentration. Think about it like making bread, the amount of yeast you need is tiny in comparison to the amount of flour you use but equally important to get the results you want. The percentage of effectiveness varies depending on the ingredient. Rest assured that the BHA products are not any less effective due to lower concentrations of the exfoliant.

The 2% BHA Liquid feels sticky and kind of greasy on my face! Why is that?
If the BHA is feeling sticky, you are probably using too much product. The average amount necessary for facial application of the 2% BHA is less than the size of a dime. The product is best applied in a thin layer, and has great spreading properties. The "greasy" feel can be attributed to the high levels of glycol in this product (glycol helps the BHA penetrate the surface layers of skin and also works as a water-binding agent). If you live in a humid, moist climate, this effect will be more pronounced and, if too much product is used, can create a "greasy" feel on the skin. Many customers have remarked how silky-soft their skin is as a result of using the 2% BHA Liquid, and that is the result of the humectants working with the BHA to exfoliate and hydrate the skin.
