Sits on Skin
I gave this 3 stars because the product works. However, the lotion, even when used very sparingly, sits on the skin and makes my skin feel "sweaty" and does not feel like it absorbs. I have very dry skin and live in a very dry climate, so I thought the lotion would help with that, but it did not. I got the gel instead, and am LOVING that. It goes alot farther and soaks in nicely in preparation for a moisturizer. Customer Care Response: Thank you for your review! The 2% BHA Lotion is quite rich for dry to very dry skin types, but a 2% BHA concentration may be more than your skin can tolerate (hence the dryness you experienced.) Another Paula's Choice A+ Product!
I'm turning 50 next week and I have to thank Paula for the fact that my skin looks pretty good for an "old lady." Five months ago, I added the 2% BHA Lotion to my skincare routine and I am very happy with the results. I've had a problem with blackheads on my chin for years and this product cleared them up. I noticed a difference immediately - the blackheads have disappeared and my entire complexion is clearer, brighter, and smoother. A little goes a long way so the in the morning, I apply a pea-size amount and let it sink in for a few minutes before applying foundation. At night, I apply it more generously and then dab the Skin Recovery Moisturizer under my eyes. When people compliment my skin, I have to give the credit to Paula - she's been taking care of it for quite a while.

Breakouts
This product caused breakouts and congestion on my normal to dry but sensitive skin. Apart from that I didn't notice anything else. Customer Care Response: Thank you for your comments. UNBELIEVABLE
I thought I needed the gel or the liquid as I have combination skin, but this product was the best for me out of the three. I think the lotion offsets the drying effect you could get from BHA, so I ended up with no flakes. I'm so happy I got this product, as I'm seeing a big improvement in blackheads and overall skin texture/appearance. It also has slightly reduced the Keratosis Pilaris I have on my cheeks, which no other product has done. This may be the only thing that can do that, I'm not sure.

I have to say, I've loved all the Paula's Choice products I've used....but, this product makes my skin red and irritated. I have rosacea but I also have a big problem with blackheads and was hoping this product was going to be the solution. I'm wondering if I should try the 1% solution??? so happy with this
Have been using this consistently for about a month now to try to get rid of a (yes one completely annoying whitehead!) whitehead on my nose that I had for months. Yay! It worked. I'm glad I didn't give up. I'm so happy with Paula's Choice products, my skin is looking amazing. Still trying to figure out how to get rid of all the red on/around my nose. Works for me
I've been using Paula's CLEAR system for my breakout, but in the winter months I found the toner to be quite drying. So I got some samples for this 2%BHA lotion which has been working much better! I wake up finding my skin very smooth and also helps control my breakout without drying my skin too much. The first week of trying this product I did break out more, but I think it was more from purging from my clogged pores. I"ve been using this for 2 weeks now and it's working very well. I'll be ordering the full size soon!

Not for all eczema-apparently
I'm really trying to stick it out, but it's making my eczema worse instead of better! It seems to be working great on the rest of my face-but it is in the eczema facial skin care system, so maybe it's just for moderate eczema;or I could've possibly been better suited with the 1%. Works but will discontinue due to redness
This product works fairly well and much better than anything else I ever tried for blackheads and pore reduction. No miracles after one month, but definite improvements. Unfortunately, it was making my skin red for 10 to 20 minutes after application. Paula's expert recommended that I stop using it (even though the redness is temporary )and try the less intense 1% formula. I originally got the 2% over the 1% because of better reviews, but now wish I had tried the 1% first. Paula's customer service is 5 star! Customer Care Response: Thank you for your review. Still leaves white mark....
Hi there! I recently left a review on this product, and the feedback from the Customer Care was very helpful! I use pea sized amount and it still leaves white choky mark on my skin as I apply this product. I prefer the BHA gel formula I purchased over the 2% BHA lotion formula - using the right amount and apply it according to the instructions, it unfortunately still leaves white choky mark. This lotion sadly didn't work for me, and I stopped using it. Customer Care Response: Thank you for your comments. this is great
I tried out 1% gel BHA sample. I like it so I decided to purchase & go stronger with the 2% BHA lotion. It's great. However, I don't see the big differences between 1% and 2%. Doesn't feel exfoliating
I didn't like this product at all. I have been using the 1% BHA lotion and loved it. Since it's getting warmer my skin is getting a bit oiler so I figured I get the 2%. It was so thick and didn't absorb at all. I couldn't apply foundation over it. I tried it a few times and just couldn't like it. I'm back to the 1% lotion which is thin and light yet creamy. I received the sample of this with my last order and have made it last almost 2 weeks. I'm ordering the full size today! This is an amazing product. It absorbs well and isn't greasy, but it still moisturizes a bit. I've had no issues with the dryness, flaking etc that usually occurs when I use BHAs. My skin is combination and this lotion is exactly what I've been looking for! My skin is already looking brighter and my stubborn blackheads on my nose are beginning to look better. I will never be without this!

Does it leave white choky mark?
I've recently purchased the entire RESIST line plus additional products from other lines such as this 2% BHA lotion. Does it suppose to leave some white, choky mark after application? The texture isn't smooth like lotion - rather it feels like a sun screen as it leaves the white mark on my face. Is this normal, or would it be possible that my product was deteriorated?
In terms of exfoliation, I love all the other PC products - I use 7% Remarkable AHA lotion in the morning, and I loved the 8% AHA gel sample (so I plan to purchase it when it goes on the 40% off one-day-only sale :)) At night, I use 2% Remarkable BHA and try to incorporate this 2% BHA lotion. It is a richer formula but just a pea sized amount is all that is needed to smooth it onto the skin. If it still feels too heavy we suggest trying the 1% BHA Lotion which is lighter lotion texture. Didn't work for me.
I'm new to Paula's Choice and have been very happy so far with the products I've ordered, with the exception of this. I have similar skin to another reviewer, thin and dry. I tried using this lotion for about a month, hoping my skin would adjust to it but it never did. I tried using it only at night, every third day, diluting it with a heavier moisturizer, but no matter what, I would wake up with dry, flaky skin. I wish I could find something that worked for me, but from what I understand this is the most moisturizing of all the exfoliants. Customer Care Response: Thank you for your review. Not for humid climates!
The texture and thickness of this lotion makes it more like a greasy cream. Even in small amounts, it does not work well in humid areas like New Orleans! Why can't it have the same consistency as the 1% lotion that I got last year? I won't be able to use this at all and wish I had ordered the 1% BHA Lotion instead. 2% BHA lotion
I do not like to write a negative review....this is only meant to be informative. I have very dry, sensitive and thin skin. Until now I have used your AHA 8% gel and 1% BHA lotion, one at night and the other in the morning. That seemed to work fine, but I thought that replacing the 1% BHA lotion to 2% would be even more beneficial. I'm afraid that was not the case as my cheeks and nose have become somewhat red and "ruddy" looking. I have to assume that the 2%BHA is just too much for my thin skin, so I'm reverting back to my old routine. I'm wondering what your opinion would be on this. My face has been dry for as long as I can remember. I've tried every product out there. My dermatologist recommended a beta hydroxy lotion, and I found this product. It's been fabulous! It absorbs well, my skin no longer flakes, the pores have shrunk, and I'm extremely happy with it. The change in the texture and coloring is phenomenal. Finally I have found the product that works! not what I expected
I tried samples of the 2% Gel formula and was VERY happy with it. I thought the lotion formula would be good for my drier patches but I was wrong. I used the beta hydroxy acid gel before, works well. So I order the lotion, thinking it would work better for the winter. but it caused breakout at the first application. I won't buy it again. THE BEST EVER!!!
I was a bit concerned that you don't have to wash off this product..but after trying the samples I had, I ordered the largest size I could purchase, I had very dry skin on my forehead, and nothing took it away, except this product.. 5 star's isn't enough for this, there is no greasy feel to it, and no mess to it, it just works. my skin has never been so fresh looking..and being 54 I have struggled with dry and red skin for years. This, with other of Pual's Choice products has changed that. Highly recommend this to anyone. Try the samples, then you will be hooked in a good way.

Great Multi-Purpose Cream
Richly emollient, creamy cream that feels great on my face. Absorbs well, not sticky. My skin's quite sensitive and the BHA 2% improves wonderfully without irritating. Also amazing for treating those pesky dry skin bumps on the arms, with smooth results in no time. Another great Paula product.

I've tried multiple bha and aha products from PC trying to find the one that would work for my crazy skin. The AHA's just set my rosacea on fire. I also have dry/sensitve skin that is oily but still peels-the 1% was nice but I still had peeling skin. On a whim I ordered some samples of the 2% and it's amazing! Mine has the same texture of the 1% lotion and I love the new bottles. I'm so glad PC offers something for skin that is prone to breakouts/blackheads but still dry-THANK YOU!

Can't live without
This is my all-in-one acne fighter, moisturizer, and calmer. It's slightly thick when I rub it in, but it makes my skin look and feel perfect. I use the Resist Serum and Skin Recovery SPF 15 and that's it! Ok, I use the Resist 10% AHA toner once a week, too. It's unbelievable that such a simple routine has made my skin so beautiful.

Yes, this new formula is thicker than the previous formula, but I love it. I'm not having trouble rubbing in in my skin as some of the other reviewers. Also I don't find it the least bit sticky. Check out the ingredients list - this product is loaded with anti-oxidants. So, you not only get the exfoliation benefits of the BHA, but you are also getting a lot of anti-oxidants in one terrifc product. Also, I LOVE the new pump dispenser bottle and the clinical looking packaging. This is definately a big improvement over the previous packaging.

Perfect for Night
I use this at night(1% lotion in morning). It would be too greasy for me for daytime use. I've been using benzoyl peroxide for years now and while it's great at keeping acne at bay, it makes my skin flaky...even though I have oily skin. So flaky oily skin is not the look I'm going for. This and the 1% have definitely helped! I hardly ever get flaky, my old acne spots disappear much, much quicker, and my skin feels so much smoother. (I also use a serum and moisturizer on top of this.) Love it!

The only thing I noticed is,the bottle is smaller now. It used to be 4 oz/118 ml, now it is 3.3 oz/100 ml. for the same price. The main reasons some of the products have been put in new packaging is usually because we find more suitable containers that are either better at protecting the formula, are easier to use, or are better for the environment. Sometimes it is because the cost of producing the product has gone up significantly. In those cases, rather than raising prices and keeping the same size we have felt it makes more sense to make the container smaller which has the added benefit of helping the active ingredients stay stable. I'm in agreement with the other reviewers who state that the consistency of this product make it completely unusable. I can't get it to blend in at all, and it definitely doesn't seem to be working. Awesome!!
I got this originally to boost my purchase to get free shipping!! It paid off because I use it all over my neck after I shave. No MORE razor bumps!!! I have been plagued with them for so many years. Using this I haven't had one in my last 3 shaves!! I have always shaved WITH the grain to help lesson them. The last time I even went back over a few areas against the grain!!!! I expected the worst, but NOPE!! No bumps! This stuff is awesome and I will by again for sure.

I have cystic acne and occasional "regular" pimples around my mouth and jawline. Every time I am unfaithful to the combination of this and the Resist Serum, I live to regret it! I tried the gel as well, however, the lotion was much easier to layer under my makeup. The gel made my skin "crumbly"....

Miracle Worker!!!!!
I have had problems with painful cystic acne as long as I can remember and since using the 2% BHA Lotion, I haven't had ONE flare-up!! I am completely amazed and never want to go without this stuff again! Whiteheads around my jawline barely appear anymore as well. Red spots from old breakouts have almost completely faded too so I feel comfortable leaving the house without makeup - something I NEVER thought I would be able to do. This product is so affordable too, so THANK YOU PAULA! Don't bother with expensive Clinique products that tell you they will fade red marks, this stuff is the best!!! It really has changed my life - no more embarrassing acne! Now I know on my wedding day I will be confident and have beautiful skin:)

Love it!
No breakouts, no clogged pores since I started using this regularly. Red patches on my cheeks are gone. Absorbs fast (the gel version stayed tacky - the lotion sinks right in). Skin texture and tone has improved. I don't ever want to be without it.

Fantastic results
The Exfoliating 2% BHA Lotion is saving my upper arms. I have had Keratosis Pilaris on the back of my upper arms since I was a teen. The bumps have gotten worse over the years and I have ugly scars from picking at them (nervous habit). I have tried Urea, Glycolic Acid, and Scrubs designed specifically for KP to no avail. This is the first product that is actually minimizing my KP and the scarring. The rough bumps are finally disappearing and my skin is getting smooth. I live in Fla. so I have to wear tank tops/sleeveless tops in order to survive the heat, however I've been so self-conscious about my ugly arms for years. Everyone always wants to know what that ugly "rash" is on my arms and they think I have psoriasis. So Thank You Paula for developing a product that works!!

So Disappointed
I much preferred the original version of this product, and I relied on it as one of the few products I would use on my sensitive, yet acne-prone and aging skin. I am returning the unused extra bottle, and wondering what on earth to try next. You nice ladies who respond to these complaints, please don't tell me to call and you will suggest another product, I don't want another product, I want the original version of this one.

I began using your 2% BHA Lotion this week. It's Perfect. Not heavy or greasy. And, it does penetrate pores. I saw benefits from it after the first night. My skin tends to be oil-rich with visible pores. Blackheads have been my life-long arch-nemesis. Now, I'm waking with smoother skin that looks and feels in-balance with fewer visible pores. And, it looks like I'm (finally) winning my battle with blackheads.

Great
This is a very thick, rich cream that nearly instantly absorbs into the skin leaving no grease or shine on the skin. That in itself would be worth the price but it's also an excellent exfoliant both preventing my mild acne and reducing mild redness around the nose and cheeks. While it is moisturizing and thick, it does not seem to bother my skin in winter or summer, although in the winter months I tend to use it twice per day instead of once. One of my favorites of Paula's and that's saying a lot because I use many!

Great product!
I'm someone who already has pretty good skin, with the exception of some pores showing on my cheeks, blackheads, and the occasional breakout (like once a year). But this product has made my skin look SO much better! My pores are almost invisible, my skintone has evened out, and this lotion works wonders when I get pimples!! LOVE IT, and I'm getting a bottle of this for everyone in my family!

Combo skin...LOVE IT!
I have been using the 2% BHA liquid for a few months and recently reordered and requested a few samples of the 2% lotion. I also use Tazorac, which causes some flakiness aroung my mouth. I used this product for the first time last night and I couldn't be happier. I was afraid it would make my face oily since it thicker and more moisturizing. I was wrong. My skin was noticeably softer after just one use and no more flakes around my mouth. It soaks in quite well. I may make a permanent switch.

serious breakout
I've used the old formula of the 2% lotion along with (more recently) the 2% gel, and had great success. Apparently the change of vendors has done a disservice to PC, because their current formula of the 2% lotion made me break out horribly. I went from normal, fairly balanced, clear skin to having several deep acne lesions. I will no longer be using this product.

Perfect!
This one really works for me! The same BHA 2% in the gel just didn't work under makeup on my face. But this one is perfect -- works well under makeup, prevents and treats flaky dry areas, and also keeps my pores clearer leading to fewer blemishes. I apply it first thing after I'm out of the shower or just after washing my face. It is more moisturizing than the gel, and that is probably why it works better for me. I sometimes use Paula's Skin Recovery Mask/Treatment during the winter months, and along with this lotion BHA, my skin is very happy, supple, clear, and smooth.

I have an oily t-zone, but this lotion disappears into it and causes pores to appear smaller and clearer; it's lightweight, silky smooth, and I can't detect any smell. A little goes a long way. I also apply on my back & shoulders; as long as I use it I have no breakouts or enlarged pores and my skin is soft. Totally love it.

Great Product
I'm 42 and suffer from acne and dry to oily skin. This product helped get rid of and I mean GET RID OF my cystic acne. No more chin break outs. Yes the new formula is a little thicker. I just use less or thin it down with the Clear BHA or a little bit of the Skin Balancing toner. What's great is that I mostly use mineral powder make up and the creamy formula makes my face looks smooth and not powdery or cakey. Love it,love it ,it love it.

A staple in my routine
I had been using the 2% BHA liquid for about a year or so and I liked it but it made my face feel oily. So, I got the lotion instead. I really like it better. I have blackheads on my nose and it has really helped. I still have pores but they are not black anymore. Also, I know Paula has said you have to have milia removed by a dermatologist or whatever but I swear this stuff got rid of two that I have/had. It takes diligence and time but I had two...one under my chin area and one by the side of my nose. Little white hard bumps.......I just kept on slathering each little bump with the lotion and eventually the one under my chin went away (dried up) and the one by my nose is almost gone. It has taken a month or two and someone may not want to wait that long but I think it attests to this products ability to slough the pores out. I will not go without this product!!! Thanks Paula!!

Stranded on a Desert Island Pick!
I've been using Paula's Choice 2% BHA lotion(for all skin types) several years and it is my favorite facial product! Other companies tout 'optional makeup' skin, but reading Paula's list of non-irritating ingredients, I find THIS lotion helps skin attain that look. My husband says my skin looks like velvet! I use it daily, applying moisturizer afterwards (w/sunscreen in the a.m.) Using foundation is the next step, but it's truly optional!

I cannot thank you enough for the wonderful product! Two of my children (ages 12 & 10) have keratosis pilaris on their face and arms. It is incurable and very difficult to manage, particularly on the face. My daughter's face was getting so bad & she felt self conscious as it looks like acne but cannot be treated like acne. I bought the 2% BHA lotion after reading other reviews of KP sufferers and within two weeks of daily use my daughter's face had completely cleared of KP --beautiful clear skin! My son's face cleared up in one week. I get emotional just thinking about it because every doctor told us there's almost nothing they can do to clear KP. We are now on a maintenance treatment of about 3x a week & still keeps the KP gone! Their arms have cleared up too. You have to be diligent but please know that it works. As corny as this sounds, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for this product. You have made a huge difference in how my kids feel about their skin and in turn, themselves. The cost is worth the result --a small price to pay for healing.

Great for acne!
This lotion has saved my skin. I need to use both salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide twice a day to keep my skin clear, but both are quite drying. Since this is moisturizing, it at least cancels out the dryness of the salicylic acid so I can finish with a light moisturizer on top of the benzoyl peroxide. (I use all Paula's Choice products except cleanser.)

I like the creaminess and how it works on my sensitive, dry, and acne-prone skin. I've only tried the lotion, but curious about the liquid. If you have very oily, acne-prone skin, the liquid or gel are probably the way to go.

I know some people have complained that this new formula is thicker than the previous, so therefore inferior... But I believe differently. Yes, it's thicker than the average lotion, but to me, that's better because you only need to use a tiny amount to cover a large area. I have Keratosis Pilaris all over my FULL legs, PLUS on the backs of my arms. I was literally upset because I was going to be my sister's maid of honor for her wedding, and I had these horribly red, inflamed follicles while wearing a coral dress! I ordered this product a week before the big event, and paired with sunshine, it REALLY made a big difference. My skin was the softest and nicest-looking it had ever been, and in turn I felt confident and happy. I love this lotion. Perhaps it doesn't work for EVERYONE (what does?) but if you have super dry skin like me, chances are you won't be disappointed. Two thumbs up!

Tried this product for KP
I purchased this product to treat keratosis pilaris on my upper arms and thighs. I used it a few years back and got quite good results. Then I stopped using it. Recently, my KP seems to have gotten a lot worse (maybe due to menopause?) so I bought the same product again. This time - not so lucky. I am exfoliating with a salicylic acid wash and then applying the 2% BHA lotion twice a day, and my skin still feels very bumpy (and looks it too). I've been using it for about 2 weeks now, religiously. Frustrating!!!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!
I was looking for products that actually work and found Paula's Choice. After just two days of use I saw a significant improvement in my skin's texture and color with this exfoliant. I have no problems using foundation on top of it as some have mentioned. I really don't like the packaging as it is already cracked from being pressed. I ordered the pump attachment and hope that solves the problem.

Exfoliating 2% BHA Lotion
For years I have been trying products to help alleviate those tiny annoying melia (little tiny bumps under the skin on my face). For a while I went to a dermatologist and had then removed. But it was invasive, costly and inconvienent. Recently I read Paula's article about bumps on your legs and arms. I thought? If it can be used on the face....why not try it? I did and within a week....my face is smoother, most of the smaller melia have disappeared and the larger ones are much smaller. My chin is completely smooth. Thank you so much.

Good for Keratosis Pilaris
I've been using this lotion everyday for 3 months on my KP, which is all over my upper arms and legs. So far, the bumps are gone and the redness has reduced, but is not gone completely. This is a much cheaper option then Dermadoctor's KP Duty, and works just as well.

Not worth the hype
I was SO excited to try this product, because of all the great reviews it had, and also because I heard that it reduces Keratosis Pilaris. However, when I tried it, it did absolutely nothing for my skin. I don't see an improvement- it's exactly the same as it was before. I wanted so much to like it, but after seeing that it had no effect on my skin, I just couldn't. Don't waste your money on this stuff.

My daughter has been to 3 different dermatologists and was finally diagnosed with keratosis pilaris on her cheeks. The creams the dr. gave her did NOTHING! She has used this lotion for a few weeks now and it is 90% better!! We are SO happy! Definately give this a try if you suffer from KP.

This is the BEST BHA product ever made!
I have used this 2% BHA lotion for 2 years with amazing results. I used to use another product line and switched to Paula's when I read what she said about how critical the ph is and that her products are at the correct ph so the BHA's can work. Her BHA is the top of the line. I wanted to share a very recent experience my 10 year old son has had with this. Last week he, for the first time, developed MANY, Im talking a lot of tiny pimples at his hairline. He has many allergies so I wasn't sure I wanted to go right to benzoyl peroxide. Then I thought why not try Paula's BHA 2% lotion I have upstairs in the bathroom. I used it last night on him and he woke up today and all of the pimples are 80% GONE. Unbelievable. It is this experience that led me to come out of my shell and post a review after all of this time. This product is stunning to say the least. Exfoliating 2 % BHA lotion (normal to dry skin)
Hi! This is the fist time I'm writing a negative review for a Paula's product, but this exfoliant has caused havoc for my skin. I used it twice only and my skin is incredibly dry after. Really Prevents BHA Dryness!!
LOVE this lotion/cream based BHA. I used to get some peeling with BHA and would skip it often to prevent the side effects. With this lotion (more like a cream) I can use it daily and I no longer get any peeling! I am 50+ and struggled with breakouts(again!)for the past 10yr. Excellent product. This lotion does not go on greasy, and leaves a semi-matte finish. For those complaining on the absorption factor: try patting with an up and down motion instead of wiping or smearing it on.

My Skin Looks Great!
I've been using the BHA 2% lotion on my face for about 3 months. The texture of my skin has changed, acne is rarely a problem anymore, and now I don't even wear concealer or foundation. I'm 31 and last night on an airplane I was asked what year of college I'm in. Last week an esthetician at an expensive resort in Monterey, CA gushed over the texture and look of my skin ... usually estheticians tell me how problematic my skin is! This particular esthetician even asked me all about Paula's Choice because she is going to try it for herself and inquire about carrying it at the spa! I'm getting married next year and I know my suite of Paula's products will be the key to my photos! I also use the hydrating cream, mattifying lotion with SPF 15, antioxidant concentrate, self tanner, and weightless finish SPF 30 sunscreen. The sunscreen is the BEST I have ever used, and as a fair-skinned redhead who loves the sun and outdoors (beach wedding!), I'm an expert in sunscreen.

Exceeded My Expectations
This is a fantastic product. I have extremely oily skin, live in a very humid environment, and am stress prone. I don't believe in miracle products, but after a few months of using this and a few other of Paula's products my acne is far more manageable. Additionally, I have always had horribly calloused feet due to the extended abuse I put them through and a great deal of neglect. After following Paula's advice in a recent article, I have beautiful feet for the first time ever.

Fabulous Product!
I love this product! Since I began using this and all of Paula's Choice products on my dry but acne prone face the transformation has been simply amazing! This product goes on smoothly and does not sting or burn my sensitive skin. I have tried a lot of "skin brighteners" but this one really does the job! Best BHA Product
In the past I used Paula's 2% BHA Gel and didn't like the texture or the smell. The lotion is much better!! As a 31-year old acne sufferer, after only one use I noticed a difference in my skin. Please do not change!

The new formula is creamier, harder to blend in and does not help with breakouts at all. I was a loyal user of the old formula and recommended it to everyone. Now I'm on the search for a new system.

BHA 2% Lotion
I am 34 and have severe Keratosis on my arms and have since I was a child. I started using the BHA 2% lotion about 2 weeks ago. I'm not sure if it's because it is so severe, but I see some improvement but not alot. I will keep using it until it's gone, but with the price, I don't know if I will be able to keep buying it. Best Thing Since Sliced Bread for my face
I have oily skin, prone to break-outs. I've tried so many acne products; they've either dried out my skin, made it red and flaky, or bleached everything from my pillowcase to clothing - especially scarves during the winter season. This lotion is awesome. It keeps everything under control, goes on smoothly, doesn't make my skin look greasy or tight (as some products do). I put it on every day, all over my face- and I haven't had a nasty break out or irritated, flaky skin since. I still get the one or two hormonally-induced pimple once a month, but they're so small and such a joke compared to before I started using this product. Proactive doesn't have a leg to stand on compared to this product.

Wouldn't want to be without it
I swear by this stuff! A few years ago my skin began to break out terrbly and I didn't know what to do, needless to say for someone with skin that once perfect, it was devastating. Enter 2% BHA lotion, athough I did go on birth control around the same time I began using this product (it could have helped too), it really improved my skin! I haven't been without it since and it is the ONLY anti-acne treatment I use since I'm super allergic to benzoyl peroxide. Recently, I've gone off birth control (which often times causes major breakouts)and, I'll admit I've had a pimple or two but that could be stress,and this stuff has kept my face amazingly clear considering the circumstances. Its a great way to treat your acne without over drying your skin. LOVE IT :) The ONLY downside to the lotion is that it does not last nearly as long as the gel, but I prefer it.

Just not the same as Weightless Body Treatment...
I have been using this as a substitute to treat the keratosis pilaris on the backs of my arms...it helps but is nothing like the old Weightless Body Treatment BHA lotion that Paula used to have. That stuff was amazing - so sad its no longer available. When are you bringing the Weightless Body Treatment back??

Nice product, good results
I have to say that this product really works well. If you store this upside down, the product comes out with no problems. I find that a little goes a long way too. If you use too much, you'll have to really work it in. I use this in conjunction with the Remarkable Skin Lightening lotion and am getting great results. My skin has never looked or felt better.

Exfoliating 2% BHA Lotion
It seems that the options for a good BHA lotion are pretty limited at the drugstore. Therefore I was ecstatic to have found this BHA lotion. Well, that is until I ordered this last bottle and realized that it had been reformulated. It was very disappointing!! The texture is too thick. You really have to spend some time rubbing that sucker. And I know I could haved returned it but it's too much of a hassle paying those shipping and handling fees. So I just kept it. I will not be purchasing this particular item again.

BHA 2% lotion
I started using Paula's products after reading her book. Most of the products are good except for BHA 2% lotion. This stuff is too thick and greasy. If you have combination skin with acne, don't use the lotion. It will leave your skin terribly oily which may cause more acne. I used the lotion for only 2 nights and I had few more imflamed pimples.

Fair product!
I waited for a very long time for the reformulated version of this product to be released. I have noticed that when I try to apply with other products layered on my face, it tends to "roll off". Also the bottle seems to be breaking down toward the top. There is an indention and it seems to be collapsing toward the top after using it a short period of time.

I am one of those with keratosis pilaris, and find the 2% BHA lotion quite helpful with that condition. As an extra added bonus, I have found 2% BHA lotion prevents razor bumps in the bikini area! Acne is gone!
I've been using Paula's products for about two years and love them all. However, I just bought the BHA and what a difference! I've struggled with cystic acne on my chin for 10 years, with a new breakout almost everyday. I'm almost 40 years old - this is not what I want to deal with as an adult! Anyway, within 2 weeks of using this product, I have not had any breakouts! In addition, I notice my pores are smaller and I can tell my face is much cleaner even after washing (probably from the telltale dirt on the cotton ball after using the BHA). Thanks! Excelent for KP and blemish control
I've used this product for years. It does not irritate or sting my sensitive skin, plays well with other products, and the exfoliation keeps blemishes and keratosis pilaris in check.
Sometimes the lotion base seems to form thin, long crystals though, which affect the texture negatively.

Worth the wait
I know some people have been less than happy with the new formula. I was so grateful that it was brought back, I waited many many months to buy it. I have sensitive skin with rosacea, prone to breakouts, flushing, and razor burn and depending on the weather... dry as well. This product works well to keep my skin in check with minimal to no irritation at all. I find it is so effective sometimes my skin gets a little red, so what, so I give it a break for a few days with a regular moisturizer and consider it a treatment. The product is thick... there's a simple solution... store it upside down in your medicine cabinet, apply sparingly after washing when skin is still slightly damp... no problems spreading it here. Given the choices on the market and the price point, who has room to complain? I'm sure Paula and team will update the formula when possible in the future, until then... this one is very effective for me.

Great Product
I switched from the 1 percent gel to the 2 percent lotion because the gel didn't work anymore and pills/rolls up under my foundation. I like the lotion much better and it got rid of all the blackheads.

Nice, Smooth Finish
I used to use the Paula's Choice BHA Gel, but recently switched to the lotion, which I definitely prefer. It leaves a smoother, non-greasy finish and is a good primer for other products.

I've been using this for a while, and would have given it a 5 except that they've changed the formula. The old one kept my skin perfectly clear. The new one is thicker, creamier and is causing breakouts. I look like a teenager again. Guess I'll have to try one of the other formulas. This is one to try if the liquid leaves you flakey. My nose flakes badly with the liquid, but the lotion is better. The liquid is better for my forehead, which is oily and prone to breakouts. You might have to experiment, but it's worth it.

My skin has never been better
W-O-W!! All of Paula's BHA products have been a god-send. My skin has NEVER (ever) been this clear and smooth and clear. I haven't used makeup since I started using the BHAs! I only use moisturiser 3x/week in the winter because for the most part I don't need it (well, the weather in SF is mild). Love this under SPF because it doesn't add that "bulky" feeling. I'm stocking up now that they are on sale. Btw, is there an expiration date on BHAs?
Customer Service: The BHAs have been tested to have a shelf life of 3 years if left unopened. However, when opened it is recommended that the product is used within 1 year with the effectiveness deteriorating there-after.

I have used everything on my neck to clear up the acne. Dermatologist told me it was hormones, and prescribed something that dried my skin out. 2% BHA Lotion
I'm 45 and have adult acne. I've used 2% BHA Lotion/Gel about a year. My acne has dramatically improved, and my acne medication dosage has been cut in half. Combined with the antioxidant serum, my skin looks great and my eye wrinkles are vastly improved. I love this stuff!

Can't live without!
If I was to be stranded on a desert island, this would be the one beauty priduct I'd have to have with me. I can NOT live with out it. My 14 year old has keratosis pilaris on his arms and has been so embarrassed by it. This product was recommended on a website of somebody with the same condition. I am 45 and have been searching all my adult life for something to effectively treat my blackheads, whiteheads, and large pores. It makes me sick to think of the thousands of dollars i have wasted on expensive AHA products over the years only to find all i needed was a BHA product, specifically Paula's Choice 2% BHA Lotion. Within 5 days--no lie--all black and white comedones were completely gone without any irritation whatsoever! My skin texture is smoother, more even, and the pores appear far less noticable. I have Keratosis Pilaris on my arms and legs. It is very a very ugly condition, my pores get very clogged and there is the temptation to pick and pop them open. It looks like I have terrible acne on my arms and legs. Scrubbing makes it worse. I have tried many products over the years with no success. I have been using Paula's skin care products for several months and have been impressed with every item. However, I recently purchased the 2% Beta Hydroxy Lotion and I am amazed!!! Quite by accident I discovered my perfect pre-foundation product, Paula's Choice 2% beta hydroxy acid lotion. All my life (now 73) I've been plagued with a shiny, oily-looking complexion. I've tried matte products, and every other product you offer....still have that awful shiny, oily-looking face. No amount of blotting made the slightest difference. One day after applying the 2% beta lotion I decided to stop right there and proceed with the foundation. Voila! It worked. It creates more of a soft matte appearance, with a glow, not a shine.

Who is this product for?
All skin types may use this product, but the texture is especially suited for those with normal to very dry skin prone to blemishes.

How should this product be used?
Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Lotion can be used once or twice daily after cleansing and toning. You can apply a moisturizer or sunscreen over it as well.
Apply to clean skin. Dispense a dime-sized amount and massage over face, including around the eyes (avoid the lower lash line and eyelids). Do not rinse off. Follow with Paula's Choice CLEAR Acne Fighting Treatment (if needed), moisturizer, and/or specialty product. For daytime, wear under a product rated SPF 15 or higher.

What strength of BHA should I use? Will a higher concentration provide better and faster results? Which BHA strength you opt to use should be based on your skin type and the stubbornness (or severity) of your acne or blackheads. What makes the 2% BHA Lotion different from the 2% BHA Gel and Liquid?
The primary difference is texture. The 2% BHA Lotion is a lightweight cream, the 2% BHA Gel has a silky gel texture and the 2% BHA Liquid has a thin, toner-like consistency that's best applied to a cotton pad. All of them are formulated to provide the same key benefits to your skin. Which one to choose is a matter of personal preference and your skin type.
Your AHA (glycolic acid) products have a higher percentage than your BHA (salicylic acid) products. Does this mean AHA is a stronger exfoliant?
AHA products are most effective at a 5% to 10% concentration and BHA at 1% to 2% concentration. Think about it like making bread, the amount of yeast you need is tiny in comparison to the amount of flour you use but equally important to get the results you want. The percentage of effectiveness varies depending on the ingredient. Rest assured that the BHA products are not any less effective due to lower concentrations of the exfoliant.
