Water, Methylpropanediol, Butylene Glycol (slip agents/penetration enhancers), Salicylic Acid(beta hydroxy acid/exfoliant), Camellia Oleifera (Green Tea) Extract (anti-irritant/antioxidant), Polysorbate-20 (solubolizing agent), Sodium Hydroxide (pH balancer), Disodium EDTA (chelating agent).
Directions: Dispense approximately a dime-sized amount onto a cotton ball or pad and stroke over clean skin, including around the eyes (do not apply to eyelids). This product may also be applied with your fingers. Follow with a Paula's Choice Blemish Fighting Solution (if needed), moisturizer, and/or specialty product. For daytime, wear under a product rated SPF 15 or higher. Note: Persons allergic to aspirin should not use a product containing salicylic acid.
The 2% BHA Liquid feels sticky and kind of greasy on my face! Why is that?
If the BHA is feeling sticky, you are probably using too much product. The average amount necessary for facial application of the 2% BHA is less than the size of a dime. The product is best applied in a thin layer, and has great spreading properties. The "greasy" feel can be attributed to the high levels of glycol in this product (glycol helps the BHA penetrate the surface layers of skin and also works as a water-binding agent). If you live in a humid, moist climate, this effect will be more pronounced and, if too much product is used, can create a "greasy" feel on the skin. Many customers have remarked how silky-soft their skin is as a result of using the 2% BHA Liquid, and that is the result of the humectants working with the BHA to exfoliate and hydrate the skin.

I read the reviews on the 2% Beta Hydroxy Liquid and I have to say I a bit skeptical that they worked as well as everyone said. I have tried so many products over the last few years, but have not found anything that helped with the breakouts and the extreme oily skin. But I have to say, I can't believe the difference in my skin in just over a week of use of this product. My pores have shrunk dramatically and my skin is not as oily. I use this product and follow it up with the Extra Strength Blemish Fighting Solution. Thanks so much for all your great products and your excellent advice.

Two raves: 1) I am thrilled with the Constant Color Gel Eyeliner. I am frequently on stage facing hot lights, plus I have oily skin and I sweat. I am 61 years old, 20 years past menopause and STILL struggle with acne and blackheads. Needless to say, I have tried many products over the years but your 2% Beta Hydroxy Liquid (and Gel) are the most helpful products I have ever found. My blackheads have really improved and the beta hydroxy liquid removes any flaky skin resulting from my use of benzoyl peroxide. The liquid is a great base for mineral make up which doesn't work well on my bare skin. works great for men
As a guy I felt I had to comment because this product not only improved my skin texture but also solved my longstanding problem with inflammation and ingrown hairs in the neck area after shaving. A New Face

2% Beta Hydroxy Liquid
I like 2% Beta Hydroxy Liquid but it does not get rid off black heads at least not mine. I have a T zone which has improved as well as the over all texture of my skin but I still have blackheads and 2% Beta Hydroxy Liquid hasn't helped neither has the gel or AHA's.
2% Beta Hydroxy Liquid doesn't dry out my skin which is great unlike other products. I still really like Paula's products and I hope she'll be around for a long time.

Essential Part of a Solid Paula's Choice Regimen!
I have been using Paula's products for several years now, and have seen lots of improvement in my combination, acne-prone adult skin. Though I still battle acne, my overall skin tone has a luminosity it just never had before. Recently I've found that using this product in combination with the 8% AHA gel, the 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide cream, and the Hydralight moisturizer is a perfect way to implement the program described in the book the Acne Cure. While there is no actual "cure" for acne, using these products in sequence regularly for just a few weeks has led to even more dramatic improvements in my skin. I give it 4 stars because I do find the liquid consistency to be a touch greasy. but since I rinse it off now (to follow with a mini-treatment of the AHA and then, at night, the Blemish Control cream and Hydralight moisture, I don't mind it as much. It's a great product.

I'm 44 and have been battling adult acne since I was in my 30's. The 2% BHA liquid along with the Blemish Fighting solution have been the only 2 products that have faithfully kept my hormonal breakouts under control. I love this in the liquid form. I tried the gel first and didn't like how it felt underneath makeup. This dries right away and then you can't feel it at all. This 2% liquid is nothing short of a miracle in a bottle!! I have been using this for only one week, and my skin has a luminosity I have NEVER had! Not even in my 20's and 30's!!! This is my favorite product
This is the beauty product I cannot live without. I use this in addition to other Paula's Choice skin-balancing products, and I finally have my horrible adult acne under control. The other anti-acne skin care regimens I have tried were too irritating, but I've used Paula's Choice for over a year now, and I'll never switch to anything else.
I also must add that I'm not happy that the price has gone up, but I understand that is the cost of doing business and that everyone's costs are rising. Still, it would be great if this were offered in a larger size bottle.

THE solution
My 'all of the sudden' acne problem after 23 yrs of clear skin made me panic. i tried EVERYTHING! my last choice was a visit to the derm until i tried the sample of 2% bha. AMAZING! Please try this and be patient with it (although you'll see FAST results) oh.. 1 mistake i made was that i rubbed the liquid into my face (i used alot thinking that will help) but it only irritated my skin. just put some on the cotton ball and put a thin layer. it will not work faster because you put more on.. good luck

It Really is Amazing
I have been using this product for years. My skin changed dramatically--my pores were minimized and most importantly, the texture improved along with the redness. Relieved and Pleased
I've always suffered from acne prone skin but it was never very bad, and when it did get bad - I used one of the more advertised and pricey monthly mail order treatments. It worked and I was happily under control for about 5 years, never having to wear makeup. When I turned 27 something seemed to change and I suddenly started getting bad adult acne. It felt incredibly frustrating and embarrassing. Prescriptions the dermatologist gave me made my acne even worse (which it's supposed to do...for 6 weeks, but how could I face going to work everyday with an even worse face for 6 weeks?). I tried the 2% BH liquid and blemish fighting solution after reading it about it on someone's blog. I didn't have high hopes since all the ingredients are the same as the other things I'd tried, but the pH balance approach seemed worth a shot. Yet another let down
I'm so disappointed in this product, I held my tongue for 2 months to be fair, but my skin is still blemish ridden. This product also made my skin ultra sensitive and my hope for regaing my self confidence was, once again, shattered. Finally Got it Right
At first, this worked somewhat, but I still had blackheads. Then I read one of Paula's letters in which she recommended waiting before applying moisturizer because they work differently in the skin. I apply it, then brush my teeth and do a few other things, waiting at least 3-4 minutes before I put on the rest of my makeup. My t-zone is now 95% clear; the other day my husband told me I was getting prettier. I still breakout a bit - it's hormonal - but the pimples do not last as long for the most part.

Never buy this product
I was miserably disappointed when an imprudent relative told me my skin looked splotchy and irritated after 1 month of using this product. Paula never mentioned anything about how this product could make your acne 100,000 times worse and leave you there to pick up the pieces. There is a " purging" phase that is horrendous, but then it never improves! If you have fair skin that has a tendency to be oily, don't ever use this! My skin has NEVER been worse.

A magic liquid for face
I have sensitive combination skin with whiteheads on my nose. This liquid works perfectly for my skin. Now my face becomes so smooth to touch and no more whiteheads on nose!! Substantially reduced my acne!
I used to have moderate-severe acne and your 2% liquid and 5% extra strength blemish fighting solution greatly reduced my acne! I have mild Rosacea and was unable to use BHA or AHA acids without severe flushing until I found Paula's. Quite gentle and effective. Although some dermatologists don't recommend using these types of acids on Rosacea, I've actually noticed a marked improvement in my condition as a result of this product!

BHA 2% Liquid
I have to admit I only bought the BHA liquid because the lotion I usually use wasn't available. I'm a convert! The liquid absorbs so easily and works much better for my skin.

Too Strong for Me?
I have oily, acne-prone skin. While the 2% BHA Liquid has helped my skin some, I think it might be too strong for me. EVERY TIME I use this stuff, my face peels. I just don't feel comfortable walking around with my makeup peeling off my face. Also, contrary to the claim in the description of this item, I feel the liquid takes FOREVER to absorb into my skin. I'm not ready to give up on BHA because I do see some benefits from it, so I'm going to try the 1% gel or lotion and see how that works better for me.

Awsome Stuff!!
This has really helped with my acne. I only get occasoinal pimples now and it just makes my skin look and feel so much better however it did not get rid of all of my blackheads and that was a little disappionting but it is probably just how my skin is not the product. I've had blackheads on my nose and whiteheads on the crease of my chin for as long as I can remember.

Sample was not the same
I had ordered several samples to try various products before placing an order for full size products. After ordering this in the full size and using for a few days my skin became over exfoliated, red and rashy. I then saw that the current ingredients were not the same as the sample I had been sent. After comparing the ingredients of other samples with the full size versions in my order I found others that didn't match. I had pleasant results with the samples, but not with the full size versions of products where the ingredients weren't the same.

Superior to the gel BHA for oil skin

works on pores
Its been a week since I started using this at night with my fingers. My pores on my nose are much smaller the next day, and much less oily than before. Its gentle, does not sting. I hope it continues to work. Before, I could see "puddles" of oil in my nose pores, not any more. Like I said, use your fingers to apply, otherwise you waste 90% of the bottle.

Controls acne, but not that pleasant to use.
I have have been using the 2% BHA liquid for about 6 months. I do believe the salicylic acid works well to keep acne pimples at bay except for the occasional menstrual breakout. I think it has evened my skintone a bit too. However, I have noticed no visual improvement in blackheads - they are still there and pores are still visibly clogged, though thankfully pimples are rare now. Furthermore, the product makes my skin peel if I use it several days in a row (I do not use anything else that would cause this, no retinA, no benzoyl). I am trying the lotion formulation next to see if that improves my experience. Furthermore, I dont like the liquid formula at all. It is runny and runs everywhere coming out of the bottle and all over your hand if you try to apply with your fingers. If you apply with a cotton pad or swab, you waste too much product. No win there. Finally, it dries very sticky! A big no-no, that, since my main reason for trying liquid instead of lotion first was to avoid stickiness. This does not absorb anywhere near as well as the packaging suggests.

what a Godsend for my face...
I do not know what I would do if I didn't have the 2% BHA liquid! I have tried Retin-A (which tore up my sensitive skin), Duac, ClindaGel, Proactiv, Clean and Clear, Neutrogena, BenzaClin, everything for my acne. Nothing, NOTHING works as good as this stuff. I pair it with the Skin Balancing Toner and the PC benzoyl peroxide Blemish treatment at night. My acne started noticeably clearing up the very next morning. I no longer wear foundation or any base; I simply put on SPF in the morning and touch up with powder when I get oily. This stuff will not disappoint you! It makes me feel so much better about my face. What a great product!

Will dramatically help oily/breakout prone skin
I have had acne and very oily skin for most of my teenage years and into my early 20's. I tried every acne product I could find from drugstore brands, to Proactiv and other similar lines, to the more expensive products. I could never find anything that would help and I was starting to scar in places. I stumbled upon Paula's products and after 2 months (yes, it does take time like any other acne treatment) I have had probably just 2 pimples in over 3 months, and they went away very quickly. I used to have new breakouts almost every day including cystic acne. I am positive that it was her line that helped me, especially her BHA liquid. It just keeps everything un-clogged and clear. Great Product
I have Rosacea, with sensitive skin. I have tried many products both prescription and OTC and usually have a reaction. I sent for samples of this product since the AHA's seem to irritate my skin. I was amazed! I was able to use this one without a negative reaction and my Rosacea has been under control! Thank you! Please suggest this one, also, for those with Rosacea.

Love this product
Within days of using the 2% BHA liquid I felt a difference in my skin. It is much smoother, less oily, and I'm not breaking-out like I was prior to using it. My daily routine consists of using it in the morning and at night. I put it on, let it dry for about 10-15 minutes, put on benzoyl peroxide, let it dry for 10-15 minutes, and then moisturize with a little bit of Cetaphil (w/ spf 15) and jojoba oil. My skin is radiant! I used to the the 8% AHA and did NOT experience these results. I am very thankful for this product and would encourage other acne sufferers (especially those with oily skin) to try it. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because sometimes my face peels (mainly on my chin and above my mouth) and that gets a tad annoying. However, this is still a GREAT product!

Amazing
This product has done wonders for my face. I have struggled with difficult skin for about ooooh 10 years. My skin wasn't horrible, but it definitely wasn't great. Now that I have been using this product, my skin is absolutely beautiful. The overall look is soft, healthy, clean, smooth and clear. Yesterday was the first day that I have gone out into public without make-up and I felt pretty! The only downside to this product for me is that it takes over an hour to absorb into my skin. Sticky, Sticky, Sticky
I have been using BHA 2%liquid for about three weeks now. My skin does appear brighter, with no new break outs. Hopefully the acne spots will fade with time. The only drawback to this product is that it dries kind of sticky leaving a film on your face instead of being absorbed as stated in the description.

This is an AMAZING product. i have tried everything...even proactiv Extra Strength. i was at the end of my rope trying to find something to get rid of all my mild pimples and blackheads. this product delivers. it does what it claims. I use this after cleansing and toning. i don't even need the benzoyl peroxide anymore. fair warning for oily skin...the liquid does leave a light greasy finish...you may want to try the gel. No more clogged pores!
I am a huge fan of your products, but with age i feel like my pores have gotten bigger and my blackheads more stubborn. I had started off using your 2% BHA lotion thinking it would help my combination skin, but it mostly just clogged my pores even more and I was losing faith in your otherwise outstanding line of products. Not for daytime
This product dries sticky like another reviewer said and it also makes my skin super shiny. Even if I put makeup and powder over the shine, it's still too shiny to leave the house. It doesn't make my skin feel greasy and slick, it just makes it look that way. I can only wear this at nighttime and I'm not sure if that's enough for me. I'm curious to see if this is the same with the gel.

My Holy Grail

Clearing
My skin is hard to please being the sensitive, slightly oily type. Pros- this liquid is excellent by itself. The best BHA product I've ever used! I haven't been consistent, but when I do use it my skin improves. The cons- when I apply certain sunscreens on top of this product I experience irritation. My advice if you are highly sensitive is to be careful of what sun product you apply on top of this and give it enough time to dry beforehand. I'll try to use this 2 times a day and maybe these blackheads will shrink some more. Love Cruelty Free Products!

Help for oil & large pores
I started using the BHA Liquid everyday after reading about how BHA can clean out pores and, after time, reduce the size of the pores somewhat. It works! I can't believe how good my skin looks. My HUGE pores are now relatively tiny and I haven't had acne in the three weeks since I started this daily routine. I did have some dryness/scaling at first but my skin seems to have adjusted. If you have seriously oily skin, like me, try this product. I used to go through blotters like crazy, but now I only use them once a day.

Must-have product for men!
Hands down, this is a must-have product for all men's skin care routines. After I shave, I rinse with water and apply a light layer of 2% BHA liquid and it completely prevents razor bumps from forming! Plus it cleared my skin up...could it get any better?!?

A Wonderful Exfoliant
Not just for acne prone skin. This liquid works great on my 54 year old very dry sensative skin.I have only used this product for three days and already notice a remarkable difference(silky smooth). This is amazing stuff. It's marketed as being for people with very oily to normal skin, but I think it can work for any skin type at all! Every person I recommend Paula's Choice to, I recommend that they get this product. If you have normal to dry skin, PLEASE use a good, Paula-approved moisturizer over (not under) this! If you're combination, use the moisturizer over the dry and normal parts. Any Paula's Choice moisturizer should do (CeraVe also works great). This stuff will DESTROY any mild to moderate acne when you use the BHA liquid at night and benzoyl peroxide during the day. Severe acne will usually get knocked almost completely out. The catch? You HAVE TO use it EVERY DAY. Don't skip even one application!
