Additional Information

Why is it different?
RESIST Daily Smoothing Treatment with 5% AHA refines the surface of skin with exceptionally gentle and completely non-abrasive exfoliation. It also offers additional benefits, including hydration, soothing antioxidants, and a mix of fortifying skin-restoring ingredients.

This product has an optimal pH range of 3.5–3.9.

What does it do?
Reveals youthful radiant skin and helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This innovative daily-use formula continually revitalizes skin’s texture, visibly evens skin tone, and helps promote visibly firmer-looking, smoother skin. A specially selected mix of antioxidants helps fight the impact of free-radical damage, while ceramides and peptides bind moisture for beautifully radiant skin.

How to use
Apply once or twice daily after cleansing and toning. Apply a dime-sized amount over the entire face, avoiding direct contact with eyes and lips. Do not rinse. For daytime, follow with a broad-spectrum sunscreen rated SPF 30 or greater.

When using your product for the first time, you may need to “prime” the dispenser. To prime, simply pump the dispenser slowly about 10-15 times. If the dispenser stops working at any time, simply repeat the "priming" step. Do not attempt to dismantle the package.

Sun Protection Advice When Using Any AHA Exfoliant: This product contains 5% glycolic acid, an ingredient that may increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun and the possibility of sunburn. Always apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen rated SPF 30 or greater every day. When outdoors, wear protective clothing whenever possible, seek shade, and avoid prolonged sun exposure.

I received this product in the RESIST travel kit and was super excited about an exfoliant like this. I have used the 9% BHA and the 5%AHA resurfacing products before and my skin reacts very well to those products.
Not so with this product. I had breakouts within 6 hours of application. I thought to myself "maybe it is stress of travel", and tried again a few weeks later at home. The product caused breakouts again.

Pump doesn't work. To use this product I have to open it and of course opening it diminishes it's quality :-(

This is a very good product. However, I am left with no choice but leave a 3-star rating because of it's flawed applicator bottle design. The pump broke after a few weeks of use. There was no way of fixing it and it was very difficult to get the rest of the product out.

I love, love, love this product! You benefit from immediate softened skin. It does have a non-perfume scent, but it isn't a deterrant for me not to use. Besides, I do not have people smelling my face, but my perfume instead.
If the 8 a 10% AHA effects adversely on uber sensitive skin, this might be the exfoliant for you.

My skin is combo/oily and this works perfectly for me. After one use you see smoother skin—w/o stinging or irritation. I use it every morning after cleansing and before SPF + foundation/bb cream. It's light, absorbs quickly, and doesn't disturb makeup at all.

Comments about RESIST Daily Smoothing Treatment 5% AHA - 1.7 oz:

I use this product every now and then and specially when I know that I will not be exposing myself to the sun in the next couple of days, just to avoid as much UV exposure as possible while the skin heals (I still use sunscreen while indoors). I have combination skin, and this product helps even the skin tone around my cheeks and lips very effectively. I can see a major difference by the next morning, when the skin looks radiant, more supple and even. I have been able to use this product several days in a row, but if I extend the use for too many days, I may start to see some redness and irritation. I have assessed that this product works best for me if I apply it every three days or so. I really feel like this is a very effective, yet mild, formulation, but it is always advised for anyone trying an AHA for the first time to do a patch test first and take it slowly on the first applications.

                Service and delivery comments:

Prompt delivery and in perfect condition. Since I do not use this daily, a bottle can last me around six months too!

Comments about RESIST Daily Smoothing Treatment 5% AHA - 1.7 oz:

This was probably even worse than Paula's Choice RESIST Daily Pore-Refining Treatment 2% BHA. My skin started going crazy when I first applied PC's BHA and AHA, but I figured it was my skin that was not accustomed to being slathered new products on it. The first application gave me a tingly/burning sensation on my right cheek - I stopped it right away and applied it once a week. Eventually, I slowly introduced both products by applying them every 2-3 days to give my skin a chance to adjust, and then slowly increased the frequency to once a day (evening). At first, I figured it just needed an adjustment period. The tingly burn persisted, so I eventually discarded the AHA altogether. Four months later, I still have weird bumps from the burning of the AHA that have still not healed. (FYI in regards to PC's BHA, I'm also getting so many blackheads appearing in random areas where my skin used to be clear?? I've got way more sebaceous filaments appearing than I did before I introduced PC's BHA/AHA). I made the mistake of buying the full-sized bottle instead of trying a sample, but the shipping was a bit pricey so I went all in and bought both bottles (also because I was so excited to try these new products that all these users have been raving about! Not to mention Paula's A++ recommendations.)

                    NOTE:
I have combination skin. My routine consists of double cleansing (Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Oil + Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser Creamy), PC's RESIST Daily Pore-Refining Treatment 2% BHA, RESIST Daily Smoothing Treatment 5% AHA, followed by Skincare Cosmetics Retinol Antioxidant Serum, and Cerave's Facial Moisturizing Lotion (AM and PM depending on whether it's day or night), and during the day Laroche-Posay Anthelios Ultra-Fluid Lotion SPF60.

Comments about RESIST Daily Smoothing Treatment 5% AHA - 1.7 oz:

I am a big fan of this product and use it every day after cleansing. I am very sensitive to retinols and don't use them - they are just too irritating. While this can't do the same as a retinol, it does help with exfoliate and cell turnover and keep my skin looking pretty good. It doesn't work miracles but it's a good, non-irritating product if you want chemical exfoliation and can't tolerate retinols. I've been using it for many years now.

Comments about RESIST Daily Smoothing Treatment 5% AHA - 1.7 oz:

I recently purchased PC Resist Dark spot eraser 7% AHA lotion. I used it for four days, and I had no reaction to it. I wanted to use an exfoliant under the dark sport eraser, so I started using this product the Resist Daily Smoothing Treatment 5% AHA. I immediately felt a tingling sensation, my face got completely red, and in the morning I woke up with bumps (pimple like) all over the right side of my face.
                          Totally disappointed!
