    This works
    • This definitely clears pimples over night. However, everytime my teen daughter uses it (not matter how sparily and letting her face dry first) she wakes up with terrible red blotches. I don't remember the old formula doing this. It has worked well for my husbands forhead acne though.

    Excellent treatment for blemish prevention
    • I have slightly oily, blemish prone skin (mild acne) and this treatment reduces redness and calms my skin. I use this twice a day (morning and night) and it has helped cleared my skin. I have purchased several tubes and I will continue to use this as long as the formula doesn't change. Perfect for use under makeup, leaves a nice matte finish. Doesn't feel like a heavy cream or thick silicone based moisturizer. Texture feels clean, like a water based moisturizer. I use Moisture Boost cleanser.

    Wanted to love it!
    • BPO saved my skin. I was using Benzagel but the tube was way too small so I switched to PC. I was SO impressed by the consistency! Silky, a little bit goes a long way, and no irritation. But I wasn't seeing the same results and my painful breakouts/blackheads came back after months of clear skin using the other brand. I tried Benzagel and my breakout calmed right down. Maybe I just need the Paula's extra strength formula? I'll probably switch and hopefully that'll make a difference!

    Grew on me
    • At first this stuff completely dried my skin, but slowly I started building a tolerance to it and it no longer does that (I use this once a day). Now does it work? Well it really helps calm cystic type acne, it doesn't zap them away miraculously, it simply calms and prevents new pimples for me. As for white heads and small bumps, it doesn't really do much for that.

    Not a winner
    • I did not feel that using this product (or the extra strength) made any difference for me. I tried both in the trial package first and am glad that I did so that I knew not to waste my time with the full version.

    Disappointed.
    • This did nothing for me other than drying my skin out. I even tried using a good sized glob of it as a spot treatment (since I've had okay success doing that with acne.org's bp gel) but even that did nothing. I was hopeful about PC products because I have such sensitive skin, and they seem to be so highly recommended.

The gentlest formula on the market.
    • I have tried EVERY benzyl peroxide treatment available over the counter and also OC8 which my dermatologist gave me and which caused horrible irritation on my skin. This is THE only product I was able to use on face and not get an irritation on my skin and I am very happy about it as I did not have much luck with topical antibiotics. Benzyl peroxide is, however, not for everyone, and those who have a problem with this formula, should consider investing in an LED blue light emitting device.

    Not for me
    • I ordered this product to tackle a couple of zits that just don't seem to wanna go away. My skin looks great due to Paulas Aha products but I do get random hormonal acne. I tried applying this as a thin layer over my face. Not smart, it made my skin burn and caused a ton of redness. I also tried applying a thick layer as a spot treatment, it didn't work as well. Now im still stuck with these zits.. Guess I will have to try something else.

Hi Tyler! We're sorry the CLEAR Regular Strength 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide didn't work out for you! Even though many find success with benzoyl peroxide, some can't tolerate these types of treatments. We would recommend consdiering our RESIST BHA 9 or our RESIST Weekly Retexturizing Foamring Treatment 4% BHA instead. Please contact our Customer Care Team for assistance with a refund or exchange.

    amazing!
    • I have been struggling with breakouts since my teen years. After using this product my skin is almost totally clear. In the beginning when using this product, I used it as a spot treatment. This worked a bit, but NOTHING compared to the results I get now that I use it all over my face, every night. It works so much better when used as prevention instead of treating spots that are already there. Great product!

I've been using this for over 6 months
    • It has cleared my moderate acne in 4 weeks. In the past, it was common for me to have large acne. Now, I get small acne here and there and I rarely see cystic acne. The formula is perfect and it dries quickly. I have no issues using it under sunscreen and makeup. The packaging should be a semi-clear, squeeze tube with an applicator tip. It’s hard for me to tell, if it’s almost gone with the opaque packaging. In my opinion, 2.25 oz. is too little for the price.

Best Benzoyl Peroxide Treatment on the Market
    • The CLEAR Extra-Strength Exfoliant (aka 2% BHA Liquid) keeps my oily, acne-prone skin clear most of the time but I do get the occasional hormonal breakout around my menstrual cycle. This BP treatment has an elegant, lightweight, non-grainy texture. Additionally, it does not dry out my skin like other benzoyl peroxide products I have tried in the past such as those from the drugstore and ProActiv.

    Superior to similar products
    • I resisted buying this product for awhile because there are other 2.5% Benzoyl creams out there. i found that ounce for ounce, this one lasts longer (and is therefore a better deal). It also is less irritating. Great product!

    Gentle and Effective
    • I was a little worried that this wasn't hardcore and irritating enough to work. But it does work. My acne is under control without irritation. I'm pleasantly surprised. This is delightful. I was using Neutrogena's On the Spot treatment on the non-blushing zones of my face (my blushing zones cannot take much abuse because of rosacea) but it was still irritating and drying. And if it migrated to my blushing zones, it hurt. PC's stuff doesn't irritate my rosacea if it migrates. Thank you!

    Doesn't Burn My Face!!!
    • Most acne products, retinal and vitamin c products I can't use...they're too strong and burn my face. This, along with the Skin Balancing Serum and 15% Vitamin C Serum are super gentle, yet super effective!!! Within days of use, my breakouts began to clear up...and best of all...NOTHING NEW POPPED UP!!! I'm thrilled!

    Good product
    • This is a great quality product. I use to purchase acne.org bp gel but after years of use it caused horrible reactions to my skin. Horrible reactions being red itchy spots that takes weeks to disappear. I wasnt sure if reactions were being caused by acne.org bp gel but after further research ive noticed other peoplr were facing the same issue. I switched to paulas bp gel and im very satisfied with the results. I only wish products were bigger than 2.25oz..

    Perfect
    • I LOVE THIS PRODUCT!!! I have very dry and sensitive skin and this product is just right! It didn't irritate my skin and helped get rid of my mild acne. Although, it hasn't gotten rid of all my acne it has definitely helped. Thank you! I would recommend this to anyone because its light enough for people with oily skin but not drying for those with dry skin or very dry skin.

    Superb!
    • Pimples are few and far between since I started using this every morning several months ago. It was initially quite drying to my skin, so I tried using it less often - every other day or a few times a week. It wasn't very effective this way, so I've continued using it daily but make sure to moisturize well day and night to prevent dryness from being an issue. A little goes a very long way. My skin is more clear than it's ever been, and any acne I do get doesn't stick around long.

Great for whiteheads, managing cystic acne
    • This is the best formulated 2.5% BP spot/skin treatment on the market. I've been very happy with my mix of Skin Balancing, Hydralight, and Resist products, which seem to be clearing up the main factors behind my chronic acne. I use this stuff directly where I find whiteheads, and anywhere I feel a cystic acne starting to push up. I might need to dial up to 5% or 10% for those cysts (or just finally get them extracted), but for medium-to-large areas of the face, this stuff rules. :)

Sadly, not a good fit for me.
    • I have used CLEAR Pore normalizing cleanser, and absolutely loved it, but this product was not a good fit for me. It was a bit irritating (have no idea why - I am allergic to aspirin, but this product is benzyl peroxide. I have used clean & clear persa-gel10, with higher percentage of benzyl peroxide and worked fine.) I still have no idea why, but was just not the right fir for me :(

What makes this product unique?
Clear Regular Strength Daily Skin Clearing Treatment contains 2.5% benzoyl peroxide which is considered the gold-standard for preventing acne breakouts. It works immediately to start eliminating acne-causing bacteria and reduce redness.

Unlike most benzoyl peroxide-based acne products, Paula's Choice Clear Regular Strength Daily Skin Clearing Treatment contains no harsh or irritating ingredients that can make acne worse, such as alcohol, menthol, or camphor.

Clear Regular Strength Daily Skin Clearing Treatment also contains soothing anti-irritants to help skin heal and reduce red marks caused by blemishes. Its super-light lotion texture sets to a matte finish, and can be worn under makeup.

This product is 100% fragrance- and colorant-free.

Who is this product for?
Clear Regular Strength Daily Skin Clearing Treatment is recommended for all skin types struggling with mild to moderate acne. It is suitable for men or women, teens and adults alike.

Key Ingredients: allantoin, benzoyl peroxide, bisabolol

Product Ingredients:

Active Ingredient: Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5% (topical disinfectant). Inactive Ingredients: Water, Propylene Glycol (slip agent/penetration enhancer), Bisabolol, Allantoin (anti-irritants), Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer (film-forming/suspending agent), Hydroxyethylcellulose (thickener), Sodium Citrate (pH adjuster), Laureth-4 (emulsifier), Caprylyl Glycol, Hexylene Glycol (preservatives), Sodium Hydroxide (pH adjuster), Disodium EDTA (chelating agent), Phenoxyethanol (preservative).

DIRECTIONS: After cleansing with Paula's Choice Clear Pore Normalizing Cleanser and exfoliating with Clear Regular Strength Anti-Redness Exfoliating Solution, cover the affected area with a thin layer of Clear Regular Strength Daily Skin Clearing Treatment 1–3 times a day. Because some people may experience dryness when they first start using a product with benzoyl peroxide, it may be necessary to reduce application to once every other day or, if twice daily application proves to be too much, reduce application to once daily, morning or evening.

For best results, do not use hydroquinone (the active ingredient in our Resist Triple-Action Dark Spot Eraser Lotion & Gel) and benzoyl peroxide (the active ingredient in our Clear Skin Clearing Treatments) at the same time. A temporary dark staining of the skin may occur. If accidentally used together, wash the skin with soap and water to remove the staining.

Detailed instructions on how/when to apply your Paula's Choice products can be found in our How to Put Together Your Own Skincare Routine article.

Can the Clear Regular Strength Treatment be used with prescription tretinoin/retinoid products?

Research has shown that benzoyl peroxide can, in fact, be applied at the same time with tretinoin/retinoid prescription products such as Retin-A, Renova, Tazorac, or their generic counterparts (Source:The Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology, October 2010, pages 26-28).

Can I use the Clear Daily Skin Clearing Treatments with Benzoyl Peroxide at the same time as a product that contains retinol?

Great question! This is an often misunderstood subject—we’ve read and heard it claimed that retinol and benzoyl peroxide cannot be used together for fear they will adversely affect each other’s stability.  However, what is often missing from these claims is any cited corroborative studies, and with good reason, because the scientific and medical research actually says the two ingredients can complement each other—which is good to know, whether you’re dealing with acne alone or the unwelcome mix of wrinkles plus breakouts! (Cutis 2009 & 2012, Journal of Drugs and Dermatology 2013).

Why doesn't Paula's Choice offer a 10% strength benzoyl peroxide?

Paula feels that once you have tried a 2.5% and then a 5% benzoyl peroxide product and determined that these did not give you results, the next sensible step is to look into a prescription topical antibiotic for blemishes such as Benzamycin or Clindamycin. Trying a 10% benzoyl peroxide may prove effective for some, but the kickback from the irritation and excessive dryness that can occur at this level may not be worth it when there are prescription products that can be more effective without the strong side effects. In any event, truly stubborn, cystic blemishes almost always require the care and supervision of a competent dermatologist.

What happened to your Blemish Fighting Solution?

Nothing happened except a name change! The same formula that's worked so well for thousands of Paula's Choice customers struggling with acne has been renamed and added to our Clear line. Paula wanted to reposition this product as part of her streamlined, 3-step approach for achieving Clear skin. Other than the name, Clear Regular Strength Treatment Daily Skin Clearing Treatment is identical to our former Blemish Fighting Treatment.
