Wonderful spf protection for oily, red skin
from New England, US
About Me Beauty Conscious
Comments about CALM SPF 30 Moisturizer for Normal to Oily Skin - 2 oz:
I have very acne prone, oily skin. Many PC products have helped me manage it. I often struggle with sun protection though, because of greasy, thick products that feel heavy. This product /can/ feel that way, but if you use it well and give it time, I find it to be a wonderful spf protector that makes my skin look better without makeup.Remembering that with all sun protection products you must apply liberally for the benefit, the key is to dispense a good amount of product, smear it on your whole face - not overly rubbing it in, and then give it 30 to 60 seconds to soak in. Then finish blending in the rest with finger tips. I find this helps it absorb better, leaving me with a satin/matte finish, that calms redness and seems to blur my imperfections. I love it.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

A Surprise Favorite
About Me Beauty Expert
This has become my favorite sunscreen, and I never thought I would have a favorite sunscreen. It has no smell, it protects well, and it does not leave my face oily. The sunscreens is mineral but there's no white cast (I'm very fair). I love using this under makeup, specifically. No problems using it right up to my eyes.It is a little runny, but that does not bother me at all. I am on my fourth tube and I have rarely ever bought the same facial sunscreen twice in my life (and I'm a 47-year old skincare junkie). Really wonderful product. I only wish it came in a bigger package.

I gave this two stars because it's one of the few sunscreens that doesn't irritate my sensitive skin, but after using it for a few months I don't like it as much. It doesn't absorb well- I really have to rub it in so it doesn't look streaky or leave a white cast. It also leaves a shine, which i don't personally mind, but it looks patchy on my dry spots. You don't get much for the price, which I wouldn't mind except the tube's cap leaks and dispenses more product than i need. Ultimately, I like the product, but I think it's not worth the price. Won't be repurchasing.

Much-much more prefer hydralight one, the calming I returned. In meantime use EltaMD clear spf 46
Dries out skin
By The Hoff

I loved the smell, texture and effect this product. It also worked well to minimise my enlarged, clogged pores. Sadly after a few days of use I discovered that it dried out my skin creating flakes and rough patches (even on my neck, which never ever gets dry). After stopping with the product my skin went back to normal. There must be something in the cream that disagrees with my particular skin. Other PC products do not have the same affect on me. A real pity as the cream seemed otherwise to be perfect for my combination sensitive skin.
consistent with Hydralight for normal to oily
About Me Minimalist
I agree with the previous commenter. No break outs from the new version of Hydralight (and everything I try new makes me break out - Paula's or otherwise - so this is a relief). I am not sure how much redness it reduces , but that it moisturizes and protects and I do not break out is good enough for me! Also, it is a bit runnier - maybe just the hole should be smaller for squeezing it out - I would not want a reformulation to make it thicker and risk breakouts.
I Do Not Break Out
from Madison WI
This was the first sunscreen formula that I could use without breaking out (it used to be the called Hydralight as well). It does seem to have gotten a little runnier, but I do not mind as it is still easy to apply. I like the physical coverage, with no irritation. Yet again it is not so heavy that it occludes the skin. Thanks Paula and the team!
This was the first real miss from PC. This product was a poor replacement for the Hydralight product. It is very runny and ends oily on my face. I still have some hydralight left but once it's out, I guess I'm out of luck.

We need to talk about this, Paula's Choice
from Calexico CA
Im a little dissapointed with you, Paula's Choice.Ive been buying exclusively this brand for the past 4 years and everything was fine. This new formula was recommended to me as a replacemente for Hydralight SPF 30 moisturizer and it is not that good replacement. The consistency is so runny and it is not moisturizing enough, or not as good as hydralight. I I loved the new package and I wanted to love this new one but it is not for me, sadly. Time to try a new one I guess

Got a sample of this and I kind of like it. It smooths out great, it's moisturizing and it doesn't make me look too ashen, although I didn't apply a lot. I didn't get any breakouts, however, since I only used a sample I'm not sure how my skin would react to mineral sunscreen in the long run. It is very "shiny" so I had to blot some of it off. It's not too heavy but I can feel that I'm wearing it. It doesn't get rid of redness either. I don't know if I would recommend this to anyone since it's not my favourite but I would buy it in the future-on a discount price.
