Irritated my skin
from Boston, MA
Comments about CALM Toner for Normal to Oily Skin - 4 oz:
Unfortunately this product caused significant irritation for me. I bought a couple of samples and, after the first use, my face was left with bright red blotches were the toner had been in contact. I'm disappointed because there are several great ingredients in this product (and obviously many people have success with it) and I really like the CALM Redness Relief Cleanser. One other point: I noticed that several reviews indicate that this toner foams. I contacted Paula's Choice customer service regarding that and was told that this toner had no cleansing properties. However polysorbate-20 (classified as a cleansing agent in the Paula's Choice Ingredient Dictionary) is one of the first few ingredients. I know these ingredients have multiple purposes, so it may not be intended for cleansing in this product, but I did indeed notice that the toner foamed on the cotton pad when I applied it. Not necessarily a bad thing, just something to note.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Try a sample first before buying!
from Wheaton, IL
About Me Budget Buyer
I am so glad I tried a sample. I am acne-prone, and my face is often sensitive, dry and red due to side effects of prescription Retin-A. I have previously used the Hydralight toner and loved it. I was so disappointed that it was discontinued. The Skin Balancing toner is what I typically use now, and I have been happy with the results. I bought a sample pack of the Calming Toner, thinking that it should better alleviate my morning redness. However, the exact opposite happened! After applying the toner with a cotton ball, my face immediately began to sting. Then, after only a few second, my entire face turned beet RED!! My face has never been so red! Twenty minutes later, it is still red! The toner also has a fishy smell that is unpleasant. I will never use this toner again! My fingers crossed that my face does not break out from this one-time experiment. I will be staying with the Skin Balancing toner. Please Paula, do not continue Skin Balancing the way you discontinued Hydralight! I am so disappointed.

Test it out first
from Calgary, AB
About Me Brand Buyer
I have very sensitive skin, so when the Calm line came out, it seemed like a god-send. Unfortunately, every product I've tried in this line has made my skin sting a little for a few minutes after application. The Calm Toner, however, made my skin feel like it was on fire. When the burning sensation didn't stop after 10 min, I tried to wash it off, which only made it burn more. It took about 45 min for my face to stop hurting. For the most part, I'd recommend Paula's Choice products to anyone--the skin care routine I've set up with PC products has served me very well. But if you want to try this product, I highly suggest trying a sample of this first.

Please bring back hydralight toner!!!
from Atlanta, Ga
After using the CALM toner and moisturizer, I am now trying to nurse my skin back to health. My chin has completely broken out and my skin looks horrible. I'm not sure why you would discontinue the hydralight line and replace it with something that does the exact opposite of what it claims. Very unhappy. Please bring hydralight toner and moisturizer back asap!!

Only PC Toner that doesn't make my skin sting!
from Chicago, IL
I have very sensitive skin around my eyes and I've tried the skin balancing and hydra light toner both which made the skin around the area sting. Not this one! This instantly calms my skin - I can visibly see redness go away and after 2 weeks of use the tone and feel of my skin has definitely improved.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Please bring back the Hydralight toner!
from Seattle, WA
I tried this for a couple weeks after losing my favorite toner of all time, the hydralight. This one ended up giving me a few breakouts, rather than calming my skin. I wont be repurchasing and hope that they bring back the hydralight soon!

I'm here to increase the rating on this product. This product has, over time, significantly improved my oily and rosacea-ridden skin. Paula's whole CALM line is excellent, but I think people get frustrated with it because it fails to deliver significant change quickly, and perhaps people are very attached emotionally to the old Hydralight line. I always felt Hydralight met my needs, but never surpassed them. (I intermittently used the Hydralight cleanser, toner, and moisturizers over the last few years, but only really liked the sunscreen, although I didn't LOVE it.) However each CALM product I've used has delivered healthier, less oily, less irritated skin over weeks of using them. I am on a major budget and can basically only use one product at a time, and chose to buy this one because I wanted something to remove every last trace of dirt/makeup at the end of the day. I am very happy with how much softer and less oily my skin has become over the month I've used it.
Service and delivery comments:
Very quick delivery as always.

Not as good as Hydralight
from Danbury, CT
I have normal to oily skin that's also sensitive and suffering from rosacea. I love the Hydralight line and used to use the toner from this line. (I can also use the Skin Balancing Toner in a pinch, but it's not as good as the Hydralight.) This is supposed to replace the Hydralight toner. I am not a fan. This went on burning my face. This, in combination with the lotion from the Calm line caused my rosacea to flare up, adding more redness and new breakouts.

So light and soothing
I bought the Calm line for Oily skin. I am combination. This toner is light, gentle and soothing. It doesn't sting. I applied the Calm serum and the Calm Moisturizer for N/O skin after. My face feels soft, balanced, and calm. I really like this little line for sensitive skin. Very nice.

I miss the Clinical Instant Calm Advanced redness relief. My redness was very well controlled with that. I have tried this product over and over again thinking my skin will adjust to but to no luck. Now I walk around with redness on my face :( I have emailed paula's choice customer service asking them bring the old one back since based other reviews and ratings this product is a certain flop. I hope she reads this and I promise I will buy 10 bottles of the old stuff and every month after that!!! so will my friends!!! I don't want to walk around with a red face anymore :(
