Simple and Effective, even for Removing Makeup

About Me Minimalist
Comments about Clear Acne Cleanser - 6 oz:
This is a straightforward cleanser that does what it's marketed to do: cleans the skin thoroughly and without irritation. That being said, everyone's skin is different, so I'd recommend giving this a try and keeping your receipt for a refund if it doesn't work out. After years of using Proactiv, and before that other over the counter products with other bells and whistles and active ingredients, I was doubtful that going simpler would work on my oily and acne prone skin. Ultimately Proactiv ceased to be as effective for me this year, and I'm seeing a dermatologist for hereditary and hormonal acne (SIGH), but before I saw a dermatologist I tried this out, along with the Clear line. 5 months later, I'm still using it, even with my prescription products. For my oily and acne prone skin, this is surprisingly effective cleaning off dirt and make-up. Not only did my face feel much cleaner, but I could tell it was cleaner because there's little-to-no visible residue that transfers to my towel after drying my face, or onto the cotton ball after using a toner. I doubt it would remove waterproof eye liner (I can dream, can't I?), but it works on foundation, eyeshadow primer, eyeshadow and in most cases my waterproof mascara as well, AND it's gentle enough to be used around the eyes, which means it saves a step of using makeup remover! At times, it does make my face feel a little tight in winter (I live in the Midwest, so bitter cold and dry weather in winter) but when that happens I just make sure to use extra moisturizer and/or buffer my prescription acne products with moisturizer to avoid dryness. For me, this is a benefit, because it's helpful to stay simple with the cleanser and leave the heavy hitting to my prescription acne potions, which have the potential to be more irritating.I drop a star, because it is more expensive than over-the-counter products. In particular, I tried the Olay Foaming Wash for sensitive skin and found it to be comparable. But, I prefer the texture of this and it cleans my makeup off better than the Olay face wash. Plus, a little goes a long way with this product, so I can see myself working on one tube for several months, so I don't mind as much the price since I'm happy with the performance of the product.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Great for sensitive, oily, acne-prone skin!

About Me Beauty Conscious
Paula's Choice saved me from a very irritating skincare routine. I have very sensitive skin, and I was previously using the Dermalogica Clear Skin line for acne-prone skin, which has a bunch of irritants in it. It wasn't until I read on Beautypedia how harmful Dermalogica's skincare products are for you that I stopped using the products and switched over entirely to Paula's Choice. This cleanser is great!!! It is not overly expensive and it gets the job done. I feel that it has helped to treat and prevent acne. A little bit goes a long way, and it does not hurt my sensitive skin! I have had so much trouble finding products to work for sensitive and oily skin, because so many with oily skin are not also sensitive, but Paula's Choice makes it easy! I will repurchase forever. Thank you, Paula!

Brought my skin back to normal

About Me Budget Buyer
I am a total PC junkie. I use her products almost exclusively. I work at a spa that pushes Dermalogica (blegh!). I always recommend PC to my clients and they love it as much as I do. I have been using the Moisture Boost and Resist hydrating cleanser for my dehydrated, normal/combination skin for a couple of years. I got the trial size of this because my new birth control was giving me minor papular breakouts on my chin and forehead. I worried that this would dry me out (I do love a dewy finish). I love the way this gently foams and it does make my skin a LITTLE tight, but it doesn't feel stripped, just super clean and refreshed. No one should only be using cleanser anyway, so for those who say this is drying, get some hyaluronic acid or other serum(s) and/or moisturizer and you'll be fine. After all my other "replenishing" products are applied, my skin still looks and feels hydrated and my surface breakouts are under control! Try it for more severe acne, too (in addition to the other Clear products) It has worked wonders for my acneic clients of all grades.

About Me Brand Buyer
I'm not a one cleanser guy---usually rotating among several and this one is always in my rotation, especially during that winter to spring changeover time when my skin tends to get oiler and more breakout prone. It leaves my skin very soft and while it washes away all excess oil, my skin does not feel tight or irritated. I cannot use benzoyl peroxide more than a few times per week because of side effects so I am appreciative of having another anti-bacterial agent to fight acne.
HG Cleanser For Acne Prone / Oily Sensitive Skin!
This cleanser really should be on every bathroom cabinet of anyone who suffers from acne prone & oily sensitive skin - this really did transform my combination acne prone sensitive skin, & I haven't seen a blemish ever since I started using nothing but PC products. This, along with the 2% BHA liquid lotion has completely transformed my very noticable pores along the nose which I never imagined possible. HOWEVER, I will say that after a month or two of using this cleanser religiously, every day, & in conjuction with my PC 1% retinol, my skin has become slightly dry & incredibly sensitised... I'm beginning to think that the cleanser may be contributing to this, & would suggest taking caution. This cleanser really was effective, but I continued to use it even after my skin completely normalised - I don't think this is a cleanser one will need to continue using once the skin problems are fixed. You may want to then consider switching to something for normal /or combination skin, & I'm really excited to try out a sample of PC's other cleansers now. This Clear Acne Cleanser will definitely be kept for any time, if ever, my skin begins to get greasy / flare up / blemished. It's great stuff! I'm 25, I've suffered with mild since my teens, but since using PC products, there's really no looking back. I wish I'd discovered this brand sooner - acne is very unpleasant! Please try this, the BHAs & the retinols at PC. This retinol, whilst smelling great & being so effective, also feels much gentler than the one I was prescribed years ago from a skin specialist. Thank you, PC!

Loving this product
By Anna Cass
I've been using this product for 6 years now. I started using it after giving birth to my 2nd child. Suddenly after giving birth, I had hormone imbalance. I never had acne that bad before. So I did some research on youtube and stumbled on this product. The review was so good that encouraged me to order it online. For the first week it dried up my skin. After using it for the 2nd week, i can see the result. My skin wasn't as dry as it was on the 1st week and the acne started to clear up. Now my skin is perfect, blemish and acne free. People always say my skin is beautiful and they don't believe when I told them that I'm 34 coming to 35. They say I look 23 years old. So thank you Paula's choice. One sad thing is that the price has increased since before. I use to buy it more cheaper than it is now.

My recent breakout has been horrible, so many clogged pores and whiteheads under the skin and a couple of larger red spots. I ordered the two week acne trial kit including this, the exfoliant, and the 2.5% benzoyl peroxide treatment - and within a couple days all of the bumps under my skin were gone. This cleanser is super gentle, so gentle that I thought that it wasn't going to do anything to change my skin. But it really did! It really does clean your pores effectively, yet gently. I also have very dry skin and this does not make your face feel overly tight after using it - it just feels SO clean! And my face feels really soft as well.

The only thing that helped
By Angie L

I love this for my back and chest. Literally nothing has gotten rid of the acne on those areas like this has. It also makes my skin texture so soft and touchable. It does sometimes make my skin a little dry, so I only use it about 3 times a week. Seems to be a great fit for me!!
The only cleanser I use
from Portland, OR
I love this cleanser. I have sensitive-ish skin and I love that there's no fragrance in this (like all of Paula's products). This cleanser gets all the makeup off and leaves my skin feeling clean without feeling tight or dry (I have normal to oily skin). I have to have gone through at least a dozen bottles of this stuff, and just bought three more. I will be devastated if PC ever stops selling this!!

Very light texture, foams nicely and leaves skin feeling refreshed, no residue. However, for the amount of cleanser you get in the full size for the price is not budget friendly. I got this is the Regular Strength Trial Kit and glad I did not purchase the full size. Also be prepared for this to make your skin feel dry and tight. This did not bother me, for I expected something like this to happen with it being for oil/acne prone skin.Beautypedia has many high-rated OTC cleansers that I will be checking out (Neutrogena), for I will not be purchasing this cleanser due to it's volume -vs- cost.
