Not effective - no results

About Me Beauty Conscious
Comments about CLINICAL 1% Retinol Treatment - 1 oz:
I used this at night with another Paula's Choice Resist Retinol product , and between the two of them I did not see any results after using for months. It's nice that these retinol products are at a more accessible price point, but I was disappointed to find that for me they did not work at all (no dryness, peeling either, which is generally a good thing, but did not see any results in cell turnover either.)
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I love it! It works great! all mine fine wrinkles disappeared. I just finished my first bottle. Can't wait to receive my second. It even helps me with my acne. I use it in combination with the PC beauty oil every day. LOVE IT!!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Great on top of tretinoin
from Airdrie, Alberta
I use this to apply on top of my prescription tretinoin. Tretinoin is great, but it has no antioxidants, peptides, anti-irritants, etc. I have a 0.1% Retin-A script, and whoa, does it ever leave my skin dry! Luckily, putting several dots of Paula's Clinical 1% Retinol on top of that, or any, prescription tret/ret puts an end to any dryness - and, of course, adds a nice bunch of goodies that the scripts sorely needs. My skin is just fabulous at 48 (even tho I suntanned like a fiend when I didn't know better/care early on), and I'll never contemplate botox! I'll grow old as gracefully as product use alone will allow.

Great product if I'm careful.
By Dog Lover
I do have to be careful, but when I time this right, it's awesome. I use just one small spritz with night cream, way more cream. I wake up my red spots are noticeably much better, skin is far smoother and it just looks hydrated and younger, but the next day and night I can't use any BHA or AHA just toner and cream cleanser, and face cream. If I use it too much it's very irritating to my skin and I breakout on top of it, I can tell the next morning even just putting cream on my face that it's sensitive, so once a week, I might make it up to twice a week if I'm careful, but the results are totally worth it, my skin looks years younger.

This product is a game-changer. My skin is radiant at 55. I used as directed, starting just a few nights a week and now can use nightly. My skin is glowing! Prior to use, I had uneven skin tone and occasional breakouts, even at age 55. This product keeps my skin looking better than it has in years. Love all of Paula's Choice products!

Be super care if you have sensitive skin.
from San Francisco
Be careful if you have very dry, sensitive skin. But to preface...I have insanely sensitive skin and I am allergic to a lot of things. (Eczema, nose, skin, food allergies galore).I am on the fence with this product. I purchased the resist cream and both caused a very bad allergic reaction. I have had this for almost two weeks now.I am going to lay off the resist cream and try to use this again with aquaphor and hopefully it makes this more tolerable.

Better than Prescription Retin A
About Me Beauty Expert
I used prescription Retin A prior to trying this. I only tried it because I love PC and have used it for years. I like this better than the prescription formula. It is not drying and leaves my skin silky smooth and feeling healthy. It has wonderful nourishing ingredients that make my skin glow. I am 58 and strangers tell me my skin is amazing.

Holy Grail product
I introduced this product into my skincare routine gradually with the intention of using it daily or every other day. However, it is so darn effective, I find that I only need to apply it once or twice a week. After years of treating my dark spots with PC approved products/ingredients, this is the first time I've noticed quick, significant fading.

Not for me
from Charlotte, NC
This was the wrong choice for me. I broke out the first time I used it and every time afterwards. I love Paulas products and usually don't have any problems but this one wasn't for me.

Only a GOOD reaction
A few years ago, almost overnight, my skin went from requiring no-maintenance beyond sunscreen to, "I look 10 years older than I am - HELP!". I've now spent years trying to find something that doesn't irritate my reactive skin and actually works. I bought the 1% Retinol trial size not expecting much, and WOW have I been surprised. Nothing is going to make me look 35 again (duh - and I'm not sure I'd want it to!), but in two weeks of using this product:- drastic improvement on my droopy/hooded eyelids (I'm extremely careful not to get it in my eyes!). I can't believe the difference. - smoothed skin and minimized pores around nose and on cheeks- brightened skintone significantly - my naturally sallow coloring doesn't actually look corpse-likeI've had no irritation from it at all - none. I can feel it tingling when I first put it on, but I've been using it every day without any issues whatsoever (if I tell you that 90% of products make me erupt into massive under-the-skin pimples and/or red welts after a single use, you'll know what a big deal this is!)I hope it continues to work for me as well as it has started off. Btw, to those who say the trial size is too small, I've had two weeks of every day use out of it, and it's not quite finished yet. You don't need to slather it on, as it has a very nice slip and moves over skin easily.I am now building a skincare regimen around this product. I'm grateful for the PC samples included with every purchase (although the sachets really don't include much, and they're so hard to open if I don't have scissors to hand that sometimes I lose what little is inside), and currently plan to combine this and the Super Antioxidant Serum (which made my skin look "dewy" for the first time in an age!). I have other samples on their way with my purchase of the full size Retinol 1%, and look forward to trying those as well. Short version: this stuff is amazing, doesn't irritate my reactive skin, and while it's not cheap, it's not that much more expensive than other products.... which haven't worked at all for me.
