    No Moisturize at all
    • This did not break me out at all, but it also did not moisturize at all. I tried to apply my makeup after applying it, and I had SO much flaking. I have combo skin, and I am so sad. I wanted this to work!

    Irritated my sensitive skin more
    • I decided to give this one a try based on recommendations that it would be great for my sensitive skin and rosacea. Unfortunately, this lotion managed to irritate my skin even more. My whole face is red and irritated, and it doesn't moisturize much. There’s green tea, pomegranate, and cucumber extract in this. Could one of these be causing irritation? Maybe this would work better for those with less sensitive skin. I encourage anyone with sensitive skin or rosacea to try a sample before buying.

Perfect for my sensitive combination skin
    • I received this as a sample, tried it, and ordered a full size right away. I am allergic to most lotions I have tried, even those meant for sensitive skin. Every lotion I try turns my face bright red and my skin looks and feels burned. This doesn't cause any reaction, my face feels lightly moisturized, exactly what my combination skin needs. I only gave it four stars because it is pricey for such a small amount.

    the smell...
    • received a sample & would have loved to love it given one of the ingredients is green tea, but it smelled like rotten cucumbers. i try not to be exaggerative in my reviews, but i hope pc can resolve the scents of some of their products because i do love their fragrance-free approach, as far as skincare ingredients go.

    holy grail moisturizer
    • This is the only moisturizer i have used that doesnt cause my skin to breakout. I have very sensitive, combination, acne-prone skin. It is the perfect amount of moisture. It is completely non-greasy and absorbs instantly. It works perfectly under makeup or without makeup. I love that it also contains anti-aging ingredients. Please dont ever discontinue!

    Feels cheaply made
    • I love her Skin Recovery and Moisture Boost moisturizers, but this one fell flat. It almost felt like a watered-down version of either of the previously mentioned products. It did not make a difference in moisturizing my skin as do her other moisturizers. Will stick to my other PC products, which is odd because they have a thicker consistency, but work better for my acne-prone/combination skin.

    perfect moisturizer
    • I am on my 5th bottle of this! It is the best moisturizer. Its light enough to not make your face oily but moisturizing enough to help with dry spots. I use it under my foundation and it is perfect. It also doesn't make me break out. Which is a plus! I will continue to buy!!

    Caused more irritation, not less
    • Really wanted to like this. I tried some samples and all was fine. I used the full version of the product twice daily without incident before something suddenly changed. On the third evening, when I applied it, it turned my face bright red and made it feel hot to the touch. Tried it again the next morning, but the same thing happened, plus a lot of itching. I would like to know what ingredient is causing this so I can avoid it in other products. I know a lot of reviewers had the same problem.

Hello, and thank you for sharing your experience with us - we're sorry to hear this didn't work as expected for you! As far as ingredients go, it's hard to determine a single ingredient that could be the source of the irritation, as everyone's skin is different, and what causes irritation in one person's skin might not do so for another. We do encourage you to reach out to a member of our Customer Care team, who can help assist you with a possible exchange or refund.

HG Moisturizer for Acne-Prone Combo Middle-Aged Skin
    • Even though I would not be without Paula's BHA products, for years I refused to try any PC moisturizers, because of a bad experience I had some 15 years ago with one of her first creams. But now I'm on a second tube of Hydralight. It truly is water-light and yet it's deeply hydrating, even now during a cold spell in the Northeast. I'm in my 40s, with combo skin and some acne on my chin, and my skin loves this hydrator (more than the Resist one, which is too gel-like and beads off of my skin).

Perfect for Combo Acne Prone Skin!
    • I use the resist hydrator at night in the drier, winter months but this is the moisturizer I use nightly in the humid summer months! I have super sensitive, acne prone, combination skin and this moisturizer really helps. It has a very light silky texture, sinks into my skin within seconds, and leaves my skin feeling "refreshed". It also doesn't break me out! I use this underneath my makeup and have never had a problem looking shiny or oily like some moisturizers in the summer months. Love it!

    • I am very disappointed with Pauls's Choice products. I have dry/sensitive skin. I first tried the recovery line, the earth sourced natural line, mositure boost and lastly hydralight line. All products I could not use due to irritation, burning sensation and redness. I was so hoping that one of these lines would work for me, especially the recovery line. I dont know what ingredient(s) my skin is allergic to but unfortunately I can not use. Pauls's Choice is unfortunately not my choice....

    Great Quality, High Cost
    • I love this moisturizer and have been using it and reordering if religiously to a while. It introduced me to PC and convinced me to try out other products. But at only 2 oz. for almost $30 is it just way too expensive for me to continue using, especially considering the fact that they keep raising the price. I love this product, but I'm sure I can find better elsewhere for less.

    My favorite
    • This is the only moisturizer I've ever repurchased in my life and it also happens to be my first ever PC product. My oily skin just loves it and putting it on feels so good. 2oz for over $20 seemed steep to me at first but I've used this generously day and night for 6 months and I'm still not empty. This does have a distinct smell, but it is not strong and I personally like it; those who are super sensitive to smells probably won't.

    Soothing for Combo Skin
    • I had a sample of this that I was using at night (I used the moisture gel in the morning) because it seems more hydrating than the gel. I really like them both and have ordered more samples of this to be sure. I don't really mind the cucumber smell, it fades after a few minutes anyway. But when my skin is feeling a little warm and tight, this is very soothing. I have very acne prone skin and it didn't cause breakouts. Might order a full size - I also really like the skin recovery cream!

    Wonderful, reliable product
    • I have been using this lotion for almost 5 years. I have very sensitive, acne-prone skin and it is my go-to moisturizer when my face freaks out over various issues. During the summer it is light enough for heavy humidity and during the winter I supplement certain areas (not all over) with a heavier moisturizer. It is the perfect balance. My husband hated using products on his face and I got him using this. I will continue purchasing this product as long as Paula continues making it. I love it!

Finally, a moisturizer that doesn't feel too heavy!
    • I love Paula's products and have tried several of her moisturizers - especially the Resist line. While all seemed to be doing what they were supposed to and I didn't have a bad experience with them, many just felt too heavy on my skin. This may be because I live in FL and it is hot and humid much of the time. Also, my skin is combination and can get oily quickly. This moisturizer feels so light and seems to absorb right in. A little bit seems to go a long way, too. I will definitely buy again!

    Did I get bad samples?
    • I opened the first sample packet and applied it to my face and it smelled so awful I had to immediately wash it right back off! It was very strong and acrid, sort of like mildew, but sharper. I opened the second packet just to see if maybe the first one was bad and the second one was the same! It was so offensive I can hardly believe that was how it is meant to be. Another reviewer said they loved the scent. Is it possible both my samples were bad?

Gentle on my irritated, oily skin
    • I've been tweaking my oily, sensitive skin care routine, experimenting with stronger retinal products, and recently my skin freaked out with red, peeling, burning rashes. Obviously, I decided to back off and pare down to a simple, gentler routine until my skin normalizes for a while. I had a few samples of this and decided to try it as a moisturizer. It worked great! It felt very soothing and did not aggravate the rash-y patches at all! I only gave 4 stars because I haven't used it long.

    Sadly did not meet expectations
    • Based on the high ratings and claims listed on the front of the bottle, I was very excited about this product, but sadly, it doesn't work for me. My skin is oily, acne-prone, extremely sensitive, and I have redness around my nose, chin, and more recently, my cheeks. Something in this moisturizer irritates my skin - I feel a slight burning sensation and I break out in little red bumps. The SPF version works great for me, but this one does not. I'm not sure why! :(

    Did not work for me
    • I had very high expectations for this product, but unfortunately they were not met. I have oily and extremely sensitive skin, with mild rosacea on my nose and cheeks, and they are usually the ones reacting to the irritants. This product managed to irritate my entire face, including less sensitive areas like forehead. It caused stinging followed by redness and tightness. It also dried out my skin, not providing enough moisturizing.

    Used every drop.
    • Paulas Choice has cleared my acne prone skin better than anything I have ever tried. Now I am just dealing with the hyper pigmentation left behind. This moisturizer really worked great for me! I love the lightness of this moisturizer, it does not irritate my skin at all, and is really versatile. I like that it can work well as an eye cream, neck cream, and has anti-aging properties. I just ordered another bottle. It will be the first time I have ever finished an entire moisturizer!

    Love the smell
    • I have no idea why there are some reviews that dislike the smell (which is from the cucumber extract). I love it. It's light and, unlike one reviewer, do not find that it lingers. I wish more PC products had it (I only know of the 1% BHA lotion and Skin Recovery moisturizer having it). It's not like it's an artificial, potentially problematic fragrance. However, I find this to be a bit too hydrating and use Paula's Skin Balancing Moisture Gel instead.

    Good lotion so far!
    • I purchased some samples to try, great option BTW, and while I did notice the smell that other reviews have mentioned, it goes away after a few minutes. Smells more like a grassy/cucumber smell to me. But aside from that, I really like this lotion! have used it at night over my vitamin C serum and think my skin looks pretty good. I have combination skin and it hasn't broken out or anything, so it's a winner for me!

    • One of Paula's best! I enjoy using this twice a day on my face and neck. I would use it all over my body if it wasn't so expensive. And, I LOVE THE SCENT! (Overly scented products and heavy perfumes give me migraines. HYDRALIGHT MOISTURE-INFUSING LOTION does not bother me at all. It is light and fresh.)

    Not for me
    • I absolutely LOVE PC products! They have done wonders for my skin. I usually use the Skin Balance Invisible Finish gel and thought I would test the Hydralight. I have oily skin and unfortunately the Hydralight did not help. If applying in the morning, by midday my T zone (specifically my forehead) was very shiny and felt as oily as it usually did. I will be switching back to my usual moisturiser as it had a very matte look which is good for me.

What makes this product unique?
Hydralight Moisture-Infusing Lotion is an innovative formula that supplies key ingredients all skin types need, but is specially formulated to be light enough for those with normal to oily or combination skin. Antioxidants, anti-irritants and cell-communicating ingredients work to help skin behave more normally (more like young skin!) while skin-identical ingredients prevent moisture loss and keep skin exceptionally healthy. Nervous about breaking out? This moisturizer's water-light texture poses minimal to no risk of clogging pores and leaves a silky matte finish. Excellent under makeup or for use around the eyes.

This product is 100% fragrance- and colorant-free.

Who is this product for?
Hydralight Lotion is recommended for normal to oily/combination skin. It can be used by those struggling with acne and stubborn dry, flaky patches.

I have normal to oily skin with dry patches. Should I use Hydralight Moisture-Infusing Lotion or Skin Balancing Moisture Gel?

Hydralight Lotion leaves a finish that leaves skin feeling more moisturized than Skin Balancing Moisture Gel. Skin Balancing Moisture Gel leaves a silky matte finish on the skin, and is a better choice for oily to very oily skin with surface dryness or those who need light moisturizing but don't want any after-feel. Both moisturizers work well under makeup.
