Want to love this, but don't

About Me Minimalist
Comments about RESIST Skin Brightening Treatment - 1 oz:
I wanted to love this product, but it burns when I put it on and makes me get redder. Those effects, do diminish, but it discourages me from using the product.I would love any suggestions for a substitute for my dry/combo skin that is pretty sensitive.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Works for me!

About Me Beauty Conscious
I've been using this product for 8 months and it really does even out my skin tone. It's not a dramatic difference but I can tell that my skin looks duller if I don't use it regularly. For me, it will not completely fade my dark spots but only lighten them slightly. I have yet to find a product that fades dark spots. I have very acne prone combination skin and this is the only lightweight serum I have found that does not break me out and I have tried many.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

First time I got this product as a sample, loved it. The second time I made a purchase from PC, I selected for all three of my free samples to be this product, loved it some more. This time I am back to get the full sized one. I use this every other day in my bedtime routine and I just cannot stop loving the glow. I have a very skinny face with big dark circles around my eyes and every little break out leaves discoloration. I made the first sample last me two uses and a few days later had forgotten that I used it when I noticed the glow of my face, then I realized that it was from this product. At first I did hesitate to put it on my face since it has shimmers, which tend to clog the pores, but if you keep up with your skincare routine you will be fine, I saw no downsides. I hope you ladies give it a try. Nothing ever works on me and this did, I was very excited.

I haven't used this long enough to comment on its long term benefits, however I'm blown away by how it looks under makeup. The first time I used this under makeup I was shocked when I saw my skin in awful florescent light in a public bathroom. Not to hype this product but it was almost magical. The bright opalescent color of this product must be why, under makeup, my skin looked perfected. The other reason is, I have shiny, oily skin, and so I can use this product as a moisturizer on its own, and because it's so light, my skin stays matte for much, much longer when using under makeup. Matte but still glowing in a non oily way. Under makeup and when I use alone, hours pass by and my skin never looks overly oily with this product. It's sorta nuts! I've bought loads of samples of this to make sure it doesn't break me out, and I'm almost sure it does not! You've gotta try this alone for a makeup primer, and see if you have the same experience! And for those with oily skin, try it as a moisturizer. After the Skin Balancing Moisture Gel formula was changed in late 2015 and began irritating my skin for whatever reason (so sad about that still), I've been desperate and failing to find anything that kept my skin calm and not overly oily, and nothing has come close apart from this product. I tried the Skin Balancing Toner as a moisturizer for some time and after awhile couldn't believe how it felt so greasy on my skin especially as the day went on; it definitely didn't keep my skin matte under makeup. I'm hoping I continue to have success with this product as a moisturizer and makeup primer. Try samples, at the very least! I love how it glides onto my skin after I wash my face; I put it on right after while my skin is still wet, maybe something about that is why it works for me.

Burned my skin!
from Tucson, az
Thank god I got this as a sample the second I put this on my face it burned and the area I applied it to turned red! I knew I should have done a spot test first but normally Paula's choice products don't do that to me. If you have really sensitive skin like me I suggest getting a sample or skipping it. I can tolerate hydroquinone but I use it as a spot treatment. I got this sample hoping I could use it all over my face. Just as a reference I am allergic to chemical sunscreens and bismuth oxychloride.

Didn't work at all

I used this alone and with the Resist C15 Super Booster. I'm convinced it didn't do anything. I didn't see an improvement when I used it by itself and the very slight improvement I saw with when I used it with the booster was probably solely due to the booster. It has finely-milled pearl shimmer which causes the instant-lifting effect. If you want a subtle glow, it'd be good for that. At least it has a nice texture and it didn't break me out.

I used a sample of this brightener a few nights ago and unfortunately woke up with two new blemishes. I think it might be the mica, as I use a serum from PC with many of the same ingredients with no problems, and I have had trouble with "illuminating" products containing mica in the past. I have 40 year-old, very sensitive skin with mild rosacea.

Not much effect
from San Francisco, CA
I've used this for a few months and agree with some other users that while it does have some temporary, instant silky/glowy effect on skin at the time of application, there is no long term effect. Brown spots and wrinkles remain the same with no change. But the product does give you a mild "instant radiance" that it claims to give you for a moment. Can work as a good primer under foundation.

Update: Speeds Up Lightening with Hydroquinone
I wanted to add an update to my previous post. I had been using a 10% glycolic acid + 2% Hydroquinone product for a couple of months before I began using the Resist Brightening Treatment consistently. The combination seems to have sped up the lightening effect on my existing sun spots. So I think this has a synergistic effect with the Hydroquinone. A very stubborn spot under my eye, that resisted IPL is now almost gone since using this combination of ingredients! Awesome!
