Comments about RESIST Weekly Retexturizing Foam 4% BHA - 1.5 oz:
I don't know if they changed the formula, but I used to use this without a problem. However, I ordered a new bottle and used it and it burned my skin. My skin was flaking for nearly two weeks! Then I tried it again, to make sure it was the foam. And my face has been itching since. I'm not sure what happened, but basically my skin gets very dry, red and itchy whenever I use this. I don't know if it's the specific bottle I got, but I will not be repurchasing.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

About Me Fair Skinned 50s
I experienced a severe reaction to this as others did. It was like a chemical burn with red patches, itching, and fluid-filled blisters. It feels and looks like I have a bad sunburn. My husband has very thick, oily skin and after discussion he thought he would like to try it since his skin is very different from mine. This morning he said his face felt a little tight but no other reaction. He is going to try and use it weekly to see if it helps his oily skin and blackheads. This product may have a very limited audience that can tolerate it.
Nothing has ever cleared and clarified my acne scarred and blackhead/whitehead prone skin like this stuff but as stated in numerous other reviews, with time I'd develop flakey red welts across my eyelids. My daughter had similar fantastic clearing and started showing similar eye reactions by the end of the bottle.Yes, it also smells a little odd before it dries but that didn't bother me.I've just checked in and seen suggestions to only leave on for a few hours and I'm almost tempted to give it another shot since I loved the this foam so much before. There is nothing else in the PC line that has ever caused this reaction and I'd love to know when the developers can remove whatever is causing us so much irritation and perfect this formula,

I love Paula's Choice and have used their products for years, pretty much exclusively, with great results. This product, however, caused me some serious problems. I seemed to tolerate it ok at first. It would leave my skin feeling a bit hot and tight and it would cause the occasional breakout of little white bumps but I was having good results on my T-zone pores so I persevered. However, once I introduced retinol into my routine (with no problems) I could no longer tolerate this product. I would even wait a week or more in between using the Clinical retinol product and this one but for whatever reason it began to cause terrible irritation, almost like a chemical burn. My entire face burned, turned red, and erupted in tiny pus-filled bumps (I'm talking hundreds of them, most of my pores were affected) and my eyelids swelled terribly. I waited months before trying again, and the next time used less than half a pump and mixed it with moisturizer to try to dilute it, and had an even worse reaction. I love the 2% BHA liquid and the BHA 9% so I know the BHA strength is not the issue, something else is at play here. I would strongly recommend spot testing this product before full-face usage. I do not have sensitive or reactive skin or any allergies.

WORKS MAGIC, BUT CAN BE IRRITATING
By NYC Customer

I used this product with great results for months, then at the end of my first bottle and into my second I noticed a reaction. I continued use thinking I was allergic to something else. I stopped using the other products and still saw irritation, reluctant to give up I let the hives clear then tried again. Last night I again woke up to the skin around my eyes red and patches of swollen red welts or hives itching like nobody's business. Thanks to other reviewers, I see there may be an alternative method of use, namely, using this as a peel mask leaving it on for 2-3 hours max then washing off with water. Will certainly try that method because no other produce has cleared the blackheads on my chin and nose so well. And prior to the reaction I would wake up to clear smooth beautiful skin. Those of you who aren't allergic this product is fab! Those of us who are it may still be fab, just not overnight. I so hope the 2-3 hour limitation works so I don't have to give this up. If Paula's choice comes up with a non-irritating formulation of this product, I'm definitely going to try it. Love Paula's Choice products, generally, but this one is still a work in progress for me. Would recommend, but with a warning - NOT OVERNIGHT.

One of my faves

I first started using this product about 2 years ago and now I cannot live with out. It keeps my skin baby soft and pore less has helped a lot with speeding up the process of healing post acne marks. I can't imagine not having this in my skincare routine, I use it twice a week during the nighttime on its own. The only bad thing is when you first pump it out and apply it smells a bit fishy and like shrimp but after a few minutes and it dries it the scent fades away.

I am on my second bottle of this product. At first, I LOVED it. It did amazing things for my skin - reducing forehead acne and improving overall skin texture. Over time, I believe I have developed a sensitivity to the product, waking up with red, extremely swollen eyelids. I am very sad as this was one of my "go to" products.
Very volatile skin reaction

This is the second time I left a review. I did not see the first one I wrote. I had a bad response, my face was welted, red, blistered, burned. I didn't realize it was the product, until the second time I used it, and I got the same reaction but down to my neck. It feels like a chemical burn.

Good if apply only for 2-3 hours
from Dalas, TX
I tried this product two years ago and followed instruction of leaving it overnight. The result was horrible, I got red and flaky skin, so I immediately returned it. However, I constantly fight with blackheads and recently went back to this product. I red in one of the review that you can leave it only for the few hours and than wash off. I gave it a try and very satisfied with the result - less blackheads, but still calm skin!!!
Very effective - smells v bad.

I love this. Good, effective BHA products are so hard to find and this one is one of the best I've ever tried. I use it once or twice a week on my t-zone and on acne prone areas. I also use it on stubborn blemishes as often as needed. It works very well at reducing oiliness, pore size and combating spots. I love the super lightweight foam texture which absorbs fast and also the fact that it doesn't irritate my skin (in spite of the whopping 4% BHA it contains)! The only drawback (hence the 4 as opposed to 5 stars) is that it smells quite bad. Luckily, the smell dissipates after 10-15 minutes or so.
