    Great!
    • I used to use the Resist 2% BHA but still found myself breaking a bit. It didn't seem strong enough despite me using a whole tonne of product so I switched to this one. The 4% foam is so fantastic. I just pump a tiny bit of foam and pat it over my problem areas. The smell is a bit fishy but nothing too strong or stinky. I love it because my pimples go down only a couple hours later - much faster than the 2% and I get to use less product too! If you're getting red, you're probably using too much.

    Still love it!
    • I loved the old formulation and I love the new one too. I have combination, sensitive over-40 skin and this is perfect. I use it every night as my exfoliant (yes, with sensitive skin!) and I wake up with baby soft skin every morning. I use only Paula's Choice skincare, have for years, and people think I'm ten years younger than my true age. One thing with this: it smells like fish when you first apply it, but it dissipates! Totally worth it!

    great!!
    • Makes my skin brighter, clearer and tighter, doesn't dry my skin. If I use a pump once or twice a week at night underneath my moisturiser it does a great job. Exactly what it says it says. Even smooths out roughness on my skin. Really happy!!

    holy grail exfoliator
    • this product is just amazing. My skin is combo. dry on the cheeks. I've had a lot of whiteheads and acne on my cheeks/jawline for more than a year. I've tried so many BHA products but couldn't find one that didn't dry my skin out even more. AHA's didn't help my whiteheads. I have PC's 2% liquid BHA and trial BHA9 but strangely my skin tolerates this foam very well, doesn't feel drying and i am getting better results. I use this 2 times a week and sometimes spot treat my cheeks/jawline. amazing!

    I tried with this
    • I really tried to like this product, but the smell is rather fishy and it made my skin flake a round my mouth area and gave me very stubborn whiteheads on my chin. I thought since I liked the 2% liquid I would love this but whomp whomp whomp :(

    Does nothing
    • In 10 years PC hasn't ever published one of my reviews, I wonder why. This product does nothing for me. I see for some people it's very irritating, for me it's like putting water on my face. The regular old BHA lotion and gel do more than this. I even used it 3 days in a row although it says to use it once a week, absolutely zero effects and the product smells like rotten eggs and feet.

    Great!
    • Paula's Choice BHA products have absolutely changed my skin. I alternate this with the 2% lotion and they make a great team. I've always suffered from blackheads on my chin, and after consistently using this, it's almost always clear. I did have a slight problem with the packaging leaking a bit, but Paula's customer service took care of it amazingly and sent me a new one that doesn't leak. This also gets rid of the keratosis pilaris on my cheeks super fast. Highly recommend.

    Raised white spots zapped...
    • Due to the negative reviews, I was cautious about using this product. To my pleasant surprise, my temperamental skin LOVED it. By the next day my red spots were fading, and within a week I noticed a diminishing of the stubborn raised white bumps around my eyes and mouth. I think this product is hit-or-miss – your skin will either adapt and like it or it won’t. Slight ding for the fish smell, but I’d rather deal with that than an added masking fragrance that might cause a reaction.

    Terrible side effects
    • I have been a faithful fan of Paula 's Choice products for years. My favorite is the 2% BHA liquid. The 4% foam is a nightmare for me. I finally figured out that it is the culprit causing facial hives and eyelid and face swelling. After this happens, I take Benedril for days to get my face and neck to calm down. I peel for days afterward and the swelling takes up to a week to go away. I mistakenly was looking for an allergy to a food, soap, shampoo, etc. :(

    Great but be careful
    • This product is great to use once per week. I use it in place of a daily BHA or AHA. It really is magical on breakouts. However I have also experienced bad eyelid swelling and flaking. I usually do not experience the irritation if I apply it to my lower face, let it dry before bed, wash my hands really well, apply moisturizer to my eyelids first, then the rest of my face. DO NOT rub moisturizer all over your face and then your eyelids because you risk spreading the formula to your eyelid.

Does not do anything more than the 2%BHA liquid
    • I've personally tried 3 BHA exfoliants from PC, and I dislike this one the most. To be honest, it does not do anything more than the 2% liquid, but the texture of this is just... odd. I tried full pump and then half pump for my entire face and neck, but it still seemed like too much product. When I layered the 2.5% BP on top of this, it worked like a film preventing the BP from absorbing. Overall, it has terrible texture, but at least it didn't irritate my sensitive skin.

    Wonderful!
    • I think the other users who complain of irritation are using too much of the product. It is so light and just a light layer is necessary. if you put more on or use frequently, you will have irritation. For me this works great. It was not advertised as a spot treatment but I use it for that as well. I have seen nothing like this that stops a pimple in its tracks. Really--not sulfur, masks, even my second best spot treatment, naproxen capsule for inflamation. This is the best product.

    Irritation Reaction
    • I hate to write a bad review because I love PC products so much but this one was just not for me. I have combination skin that gets pretty oily in certain areas so I thought this would be perfect. After I use it, I am terribly red and dry - the dryness and flaking can last almost a week! Perhaps my skin is too sensitive although PC products are usually magic for me.

    Wanted to like it
    • This is the first bha from PC that gave me an adverse reaction. The skin on my neck became itchy, raw and red and it remained that way for a few days. I tried it 4 times, with a break of a few weeks. I tried it with Resist toner+serum, tried it without any products, tried to put moisturizer over it, but yet every time I used this foam the skin on my neck became red, itchy, raw. I'll continue to use PC extra strength bha. For weekly exfoliation, PC 10% aha gives me better results and is gentler.

    • I have loved every product I have ever purchased from Paula's choice...until this one! I'm always very confident trying something new because I have had nothing but success prior to this product and I don't have sensitive skin. I followed the directions very carefully and made sure to avoid the eye area. I woke up with very swollen, itchy, red, peeling eyelids that barely opened. I also have red and raw skin around my chin that was and still is peeling, after several weeks & Under the care of dr

    Better late than never
    • Hi! I am writing this review for the old formula, so it may not be as relevant. However, it may be helpful to someone. I have oily, sensitive rosacea/acne prone skin and use PC BHA liquid. I love the liquid and was sure I would love the 4% but it seemed to make my skin more irritated and splotchy after each use. I have tried it several times over the past year (it is expensive and I wanted it to work!) But have finally concluded that it does not work for me. The new formula would be different.

    Seriously amazing
    • I love all my PC products but this is easily my very favorite! I tried one night and literally the next morning my skin was looking like I had some awesome facial that smoothed out my skin, added this beautiful glow, shrunk my pores, flakes gone. I found it to be very gentle but strong at same time. AHA tends to sting me upon application but this felt just like foamy water and no stinging. I gave it to my sister to try and the next morning she went and ordered her own. It's that awesome.

    amazing results!
    • I'm 29 and started breaking out with large and painful acne.I couldn't figure out what was causing it. I have been using Paula's products for 2 years now but never the exfoliates. Over night results! The bumps disappeared over night and I literally saw oil and grime being pushed to the surface. My skin is so smooth and it is glowing. I've only been using this for a week and I am blown away by the results. My skin feels so youthful!

    Perfect for severest body acne
    • Powerful enough for the body. It absorbs fast so I can get change to work on time. I'm suffering from sever body acne for 14 years. It troubles me from everything. I've tried ways to help include accutane but helped nothing(nor the 2% bha/retinol will help). I've almost given up on treating them. Tried it few times at a friends place feels great. ordered my own n start using it 2 weeks ago, apply it twice a day, my body has less inflamed breakout and stubbon blackheads. Thank you Paula!

    My favorite PC product!!
    • I have been using this for over a month now and you would need to pry it from my cold, dead hands before I gave it up. I previously dealt with moderate breakouts and large pores on my cheeks with combo and occasionally dry/flaky skin. I use this almost every night (it's strong but doesn't irritate in my case) and each morning I have nice smooth skin. I began seeing results very quickly. The foam also works well for breakouts on your chest or back. PC makes very thoughtfully formulated skincare!

    Game Changer!
    • I was always using retinoids along with my Paula's Choice products for my acne-prone skin - then I realized I didn't have a BHA product. Was waiting so patiently for it to come back, because I really wanted to try it. I was definitely not disappointed. At the sight of a breakout, I will just put a little dab onto a spot, along with my prescription, and it will go away within 24 hours. I like that the pump will give you the option of using a lot or a little.

    Excellent Exfoliation!
    • Since I've used the 2% BHA for a long time, I didn't think bumping it up to 4% would be a big deal-and I was right. It gets my pores tighter and the rest of my face brighter and more even-toned. It calms my redness as well. The only problems I had were 1, the smell, and 2, the texture. The first time I put it on, I thought I smelled fried fish. Seriously. Fortunately, it fades quickly. And it feels tacky, so it's not ideal for daytime. I'm still giving it 5 stars because it works so well!

Be careful for harsh side effects. Very potent!
    • On two occasions, after leaving this product all over my face overnight, I woke up to a painful, red, swollen face. Although I was careful not to apply it over eye circles and eyelids, my eyes looked the worst (swollen, itchy, very sensitive, skin peeling) and side effects lasted for 3-4 days. I was shocked! It looked as if I had a severe allergic reaction or returned from a cosmetic surgery. I don't recall having issues with other Paula's Choice products before, I usually love them. BE CAREFUL!

A good product if used carefully
    • I bought this and followed directions. A weekly all-over application worked well three times, so I was shocked when the next use left my face red, stinging, and flaky for nearly a week. I've since discovered that this is a great, if pricey, spot treatment alternative to benzoyl peroxide. It kills stubborn zits overnight. I use and recommend it highly for that purpose, but caution everyone against full-face use unless you ease into it. It's very strong; the side effects can be painful and ugly.

What makes this product unique?
Resist Weekly Retexturizing Foam is an innovative treatment that delivers smoother, younger-looking skin overnight. Specialized technology encapsulates anti-aging superstar salicylic acid for time-released delivery—so you get dramatic results without flaking or signs of irritation.

The unique liquid-to-foam texture feels water-light yet is packed with soothing ingredients that reduce redness, calm inflammation, unclog pores, and reduce symptoms of rosacea. Plant-based antioxidants work with the exfoliating, pore-penetrating action of salicylic acid to stimulate collagen production for firmer, smoother, more radiant skin.

This weekly skin saver not only reduces multiple signs of aging, but also helps fade red marks from breakouts; plus, it's a potent option for banishing stubborn "chicken skin" (keratosis pilaris) on arms or legs. This product has a pH range of 3.5-3.9.

Who is this product for?
Resist Weekly Retexturizing Foam is for anyone concerned with signs of aging, enlarged pores, and breakouts. Also excellent for those with rosacea or for treating "chicken skin" (keratosis pilaris). The formula is suitable for all skin types, but best for combination to oily or breakout-prone skin.

NOTE: Those allergic to aspirin (acetylsalicylate) should not use products containing salicylic acid (beta hydroxy acid).

Can I use Resist Weekly Retexturizing Foaming Treatment with my regular BHA exfoliant? What about combining it with Resist BHA 9?

Yes, but this isn’t necessary to get great results, and it’s best to see how your skin responds to this treatment before using it with another exfoliant. Otherwise, depending on how much sun damage you have or if you have stubborn breakouts and clogged pores, the combination can enhance the results you’re already getting.

If you’d like to use these two BHAs at the same time, pay attention to how your skin responds and adjust frequency of usage accordingly. When using with one of our Skin Perfecting BHA exfoliants, apply after Resist Weekly Retexturizing Foaming Treatment. If using with Resist BHA 9, apply that spot treatment before or after applying Resist Weekly Retexturizing Treatment.

How frequently can I use Resist Weekly Retexturizing Foaming Treatment? Is using it every day too much?

Most people concerned with signs of aging plus clogged pores/breakouts and oily skin will find that using this treatment 1-3 times per week is perfect. However, you may apply it more often if desired, based on how your skin responds. For some skin types and skin problems it can be helpful to use this treatment up to 5 times per week. For example, those with very oily skin, stubborn clogged pores, or a rough, bumpy skin texture may find more frequent use is preferred. Applying every night is an option, too, but most will find this is overdoing it, especially if you are also using other exfoliants.

If you are struggling with very stubborn acne or other types of breakouts, you may find nightly usage works beautifully for a brief period of time. Once the breakouts are under control, you can reduce frequency of application or begin using one of our other, lower-strength BHA exfoliants daily to maintain the results.

There are so many different BHA exfoliants! How do I choose the best one for me?

Choose the best BHA for you based on your skin type, concerns, and texture preferences. Liquids and gels are great for oily or combination skin; lotions are ideal for normal to dry skin or combination skin with drier areas.

Resist Weekly Retexturizing Foaming Treatment is ideal for normal to oily or combination skin struggling with wrinkles, enlarged pores, breakouts, and rough, uneven skin. Pair this with any of our Skin Perfecting BHA exfoliants to see a significant improvement in all of those concerns, or it may be used alone as your sole BHA exfoliant.

Can I use Resist Weekly Retexturizing Foaming Treatment as my only exfoliant?

Yes, though if you opt to use this as your daily exfoliant, monitor how your skin responds. If you see signs of irritation or flaking, reduce frequency of usage (perhaps to every other night or every couple of nights) or alternate this with one of our Skin Perfecting BHA exfoliants.

What’s the difference between Resist Weekly Retexturizing Foaming Treatment and Resist BHA 9?

Both exfoliants have time-released delivery systems to ensure great results without irritation and both contain salicylic acid, though in different amounts (4% for the Weekly Treatment and 9% for BHA 9). Beyond the percentage of salicylic acid, the other differences are texture, with the Weekly Retexturizing Treatment being liquid-to-foam and BHA 9 being a serum-like fluid.

Finally, Resist Weekly Retexturizing Foaming Treatment is designed for using all over the face, neck, and chest while Resist BHA 9 is meant to be a spot treatment for stubborn imperfections, not an all-over exfoliant. Both work to address multiple concerns, including signs of aging, and both may be used as needed to solve such issues as clogged pores, blackheads, white bumps, and for smoothing the appearance of wrinkles.

Can Resist Weekly Retexturizing Foaming Treatment be used on the body, such as for dry, cracked heels?

Yes! This treatment may be used on areas of thickened, built-up skin on knees, feet, elbows, etc. At night, apply a thin layer and follow with an emollient moisturizer. The next morning you’ll wake up to dramatically softer, smoother skin!

I have KP (keratosis pilaris) and products with 2% salicylic acid haven’t helped. Will this work?

Yes. Whether the skin-lightening product contains hydroquinone or other lightening ingredients, it will help to enhance the effectiveness of your skin-lightening product. Will Resist Weekly Retexturizing Foaming Treatment cause my skin to dry out?

Although it's possible that some who use this product too frequently or combined with other exfoliants may notice some flaking or sensation of dryness, when used as directed Resist Weekly Retexturizing Treatment won’t leave skin feeling dry or looking flaky. It contains several ingredients that help skin retain moisture—you’ll be surprised at how unbelievably smooth this treatment makes your skin after just one night’s use!
